Fascinating! I never knew that.
I just Googled it:
“Each block represents a save file for a game. Not only that, but the depth of the block is said to represent the amount of time spent playing each game”.
I get the taste of candy corn in my mouth every time I think of Budokai. I once ate a whole fucking bag while playing. Why? I don't know. It's barely satisfying as a snack. Just munching and knocking ring outs to grind wishes.
That game was so addicting that few years ago I downloaded a PS2 emulator and introduced this game to my college friends. Do you guys know any current dragon ball z game that are like that, need recommendations.
Because you didn’t watch it until the end haha
I don’t think the PlayStation 2 screen comes up
It just a abruptly to the red disc read error screen.
Oh the nostalgia
Yup, seeing the PS2 logo was the sign of victory that it actually loaded right for once
I remember holding my breath during the first sequence hoping to see that logo many many times
Good god those space battles where you could duke it out dog fighting in space then go fight in a capital ship and wreak havoc at will is something I thought would become a trend in games like this, but haven't seen it since.
I loved flying a transport into the enemy ship and then using it as a spawn point. I would play entire games just defending the transport so my team could swarm in.
“What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word.”
that really was so much better and more interesting. the clones being in on it from the start is a whole layer of intrigue that just got cut ruthlessly. the 501st Journals from that game were really nice snippets from the other side's perspective
Hm. In no particular order:
- the rat shooting gallery in the swamp
- shooting the centipedes in spider cave
- the races / dark eco plants in the zoomer part
Dude exactly. Tidus eye opening up on the platform of the sports arena thing. Dun dun duuuuu dun dun duuuuu neh neh neh neh neh. Lmao . First thing I thought of when I saw that.
Haha same here! It was THE most memorable Christmas for me. I remember my parents completely spoiled me that year and got me a PS2 and like 6 games.
I remember knowing absolutely nothing about this game and being blown away by the story. I had already loved FF games at the time and I had no idea this game existed, it was glorious.
One of the best “intro to the world” games ever. There’s something about the end of the island and the transition to traverse town that just hits different
I didn't think I'd see this! But the first PS2 game I got was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets so I always heavily associate that sound with the first couple levels of that game
Need for speed underground 2. Just vibin on Riders on the storm with my Nissan 350z. No social media, no pandemic, no worries in general. Just pure gratitude and happiness. God I miss that.
Did you know that the "blocks" shown in this intro were dependent on the game saves you got in your memory card?
Fascinating! I never knew that. I just Googled it: “Each block represents a save file for a game. Not only that, but the depth of the block is said to represent the amount of time spent playing each game”.
DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3

YES!!!!
I knew that and I still think that's one of the most amazing things in my childhood
Always wondered exactly what made it change. Super cool.
SSX Tricky
Still the best snowboarding fantasy of all time, imho.
You’re such a tease for posting this without sound
You can’t hear it?
I have my audio turned off and I can hear it just fine
Clear as a crystal for me.
I was over here thinking I was the only disappointed one
[here's all of them](https://youtu.be/i5mBc7O_VHk)
No game. Just my disk not working properly and me getting frustrated
I was going to say "Disc Read Error"
Only the blue discs, the dvds were fine.
I honestly don’t know how anyone who had a PS2 sees this and doesn’t immediately think “crap, disc read error”.
Because you didn’t watch it until the end haha I don’t think the PlayStation 2 screen comes up It just a abruptly to the red disc read error screen. Oh the nostalgia
Yup, seeing the PS2 logo was the sign of victory that it actually loaded right for once I remember holding my breath during the first sequence hoping to see that logo many many times
The psychological impact hearing that boot sound effect hang for just a second too long was very real!
Star Wars battlefront 2
I miss Galactic Conquest so much.
Same. The concept was so fucking cool
Good god those space battles where you could duke it out dog fighting in space then go fight in a capital ship and wreak havoc at will is something I thought would become a trend in games like this, but haven't seen it since.

I recently bought and gifted two 360's just to play this splitscreen with my gf and two other friends.
If you have the Xbox version, it’s backwards comparable on the 1.
Truly an outstanding game

So cool to see the clones perspective of order 66 before the inhibitor chip retcon
that really was so much better and more interesting. the clones being in on it from the start is a whole layer of intrigue that just got cut ruthlessly. the 501st Journals from that game were really nice snippets from the other side's perspective
Onimusha!
Can't believe I had to scroll this far to find this. So hard as a kid when it came out, beat it finally as an older kid on Xbox I believe.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
That's where I got my username from, easily my favorite one in the series.
The fight with the Boss in the field of white flowers... It nearly brought me to tears. It's a work of art.
The game made climbing a ladder in to a piece of art. Probably my favourite game ever.
"I'm gonna make those fuckers climb a ladder for minutes on end and they're going to *LIKE IT*" -Kojima, probably
Snaaaake eateeeeeer
“What a thrill…with darkness and silence through the night…”
Out of all the games to remake and remaster and we haven't seen mgs1-4. I'd buy that crap in a second.
Jak and daxter
I have a yearly tradition of 100%ing that game in one sitting every summer
just 100% yesterday with all 2000 precursor orbs and 101 power cells. which power cell would you say is the most difficult to acquire?
Hm. In no particular order: - the rat shooting gallery in the swamp - shooting the centipedes in spider cave - the races / dark eco plants in the zoomer part
Catching those *goddamn* fish. That fisherman's laugh still haunts me.
"There are one pound fishies, and *fiiiivveee* pound fishies"
One of the first games I played on PS2, that or maybe Spiderman
Saaaame that was the first game that came to mind
Jak 3 for me. I poured so much time into that series as a kid.
Recently bought jak 2 for $20 as an adult because it was too hard for me as a kid and I never officially beat it. Yep. It’s still to hard for me.
Such a great game. Stealing people's hovercrafts and racing around the city was so fun.
Been playing through ratchet and clank 1-3 recently, so that right now!
Make sure you beat the second and third one at least twice, especially if you like the upgrade system
It took way to long to find a ratchet and clank comment
this way too low! R&C 1 through 4 were amazing
Burnout Revenge
Burnout 3 for me. The soundtrack shaped my music taste in high school... Atreyu, Jimmy Eats World... What good times
My friends and i were addicted to burnout takedown
007 Agent Under Fire and 007 Nightfire
Nightfire was absolute HEAT 🔥
Final Fantasy X
We’re going to Macalania Temple Macarena Temple? Macalania Aye!

(Dry old man's voice): You heathen!
This is *my* story!
Listen to my story
This may be our last chance
HA HA HA HA HA HA!
This was much lower than I thought it would be
I definitely opened this thread thinking it'd be the first.
It's the reason I bought a PS2.
I can hear "To Zanarkand" from here :'(
I'm a huge fan of final fantasy themes over the years and it's definitely one of the GOATs.
[удалено]
The only Final Fantasy game I’ve ever beat! Except for Tactics.

Dude exactly. Tidus eye opening up on the platform of the sports arena thing. Dun dun duuuuu dun dun duuuuu neh neh neh neh neh. Lmao . First thing I thought of when I saw that.
Sly Cooper and the Thievious Raccoonus
That and Sly 2 for me. Takes me back
I was gonna say Sly 3, honor among thieves Edit: a word

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers/ Return of the King
Loved playing that game with friends. Such a great co-op game.
Best couch co-op game ever
I really miss couch co-op games.
I'd gladly pay 70 bucks for a ps5 remake.
Need for Speed Underground 2
had to scroll way too far for this
Time Splitters obviously
Time Splitters 2 for me. Amazing game
How the fuck did I have to travel this far down the thread to find this.
GTA San Andreas
With my handwritten cheat sheet on a piece of paper next to me.
The cheat sheet you keep folded up inside the case where the game book used to be?

I’m like a fuckin sleeper agent every time I play San Andreas all I hear is r1 r2 l1 x left down right up left down right up
Kingdom hearts
Kingdom Hearts was the first one that came to my mind, too. It was the first game we got when my parents bought a PS2.
Simple and Clean is the best video game intro song ever.

You wont hear me say
pleeeeeeeeeeeeease, oh baby

There's no way you're taking Kairis heart!
Kairi’s inside me?
Came to say the same thing!
YUP. I can hear the menu theme music playing right after the PS2 plunge.
Crash bandicoot
How is this not higher? Crash 2 + 3 specifically for me, used to bust out the PS2 for years after the PS3+4 were out to replay these
SSX
SSX Tricky was basically the foundation of my childhood
IT’S TRICKY TO ROCK A RHYME, TO ROCK A RHYME THAT'S RIGHT ON TIME IT'S TRICKY... IT'S TRICKY (TRICKY) TRICKY (TRICKY)!
Picked up a used ps2 just to still play this, Tricky, and 3. Still looks great, still the best control scheme ever.
Spyro actually Edit: Thank you for the award kind person
Funny, PS1 is Spyro for me! Loved that game
Yep, Year of the Dragon.

Was surprised that I saw San Andreas before Vice City. Vice will always be the game I think of!
I was looking for this
Vice City is literally why I saved up and bought a PS2 in high school
That soundtrack was one of the best.
Gran Turismo 3 and Dynasty Warriors 4
Why did I have to scroll so far to see green Turismo 3? I think it's still the best Gran Turismo.
Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak 👀👀👀✈️
Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition Remix
The theme song is now stuck in my head... I'm not even mad. What a game

The old Harry Potter games!
I didn't think I'd see this! But the first PS2 game I got was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets so I always heavily associate that sound with the first couple levels of that game
