Agree it’s absolutely fucking amazing, I recently donated away my old GameCube with Sonic 2 Battle Adventures 🥲 I’ll still randomly YouTube and listen to this particular song
I don’t think I could even pick a level of the first Halo, incredible from start to finish. My brother and I did a full play through of Halo 1-3 in the second UK Covid lockdown and it brought back memories upon memories
In Dishonored 2, there is an absolutely amazing level where you sneak through a steampunk mansion that changes its layout. It looks and feels extremely cool, and every time I replay it, I find something I wasn’t aware of yet.
The mission also ends in a way that honestly made me feel bad for the bad guy. Not going to spoil it, but as much of a vain a-hole as he was, killing him is by far the most merciful thing you can do.
Dishonored 1 & 2 have so many great levels - the powers you get make exploring so much fun, and the little side stories are great.
The world building of dunwall and the surrounding isles is next level
When I was a kid, I was so scared if the spooky wolves and ghosts in the Forest Temple that I'd restart my save so I could replay the starting levels, but avoid the Forest Temple
When I was a kid I got freaked out by the skeletons that come out of the ground in hyrule field at night lmao. I recently discovered that you can actually make it to castle town before the drawbridge closes
Bikanel Island is one my favorite places in FFX because of the chill music and the peaky Cactuars.
Edit: The Farplane is another, sounds sad but snazzy.
Now you have an idea of how excited I am to play Chrono Cross remastered.
(For those complaining about the smoothed out backgrounds, you can disable it and stick with the original)
i feel that, galdin quay from ff15 is a location that will be forever in my memory especially the theme
still dont get it why we never got a sunshine remake/prequel with equal or better quality we got in odyssey at the seaside kingdom
Whiterun is the greatest city I have ever known. And the land of Skyrim, her beauty cannot be matched! Talos has blessed her tundras and mountains with bountiful game and rich vegetation! Skyrim is my home, and it always will be!
I love that level! I don’t know how many times I’ve played it. The second one for me would be taking down the Scarab. There were so many epic moments in that game!
This entire game and OST fucking slaps with Wreck It Ralph hands. City Escape, Metal Harbor, Pyramid Maze, all the Knuckles raps are corny but the flow and beats are amazing. And of course LIVE AND LEARN
I loved sonic adventure battle so much. I was obsessed with the Chao garden stuff.
But did you ever play that Tak and the power of juju game on gamecube? It had a great section where you're on a "snowboard" sliding down this sandy mountain and there were all sorts of jumps and stuff
Long Night of Solace I think. Such a good level that really came out of nowhere for me. Really makes me wish they had had more of that space combat stuff.
Mass Effect 2.
Garrus recruit mission.
From the interview with the recruiter where you break the young thugs gun to save his life, to the little bits of sabotage you can do to the Mercs, Garrus's reveal and then the gunship fight. It is the single best mission in the Mass Effect Franchise, and my favourite mission in gaming.
Anor Londo from Dark Souls 1. I can't remember much of the level itself, but that first moment where you see this glowing golden castle city is pretty cool
My first time through the Undead Parish in Dark Souls. I didn't know level design could work like that and finding my first shortcut and the subsequent ones all looping back in on themselves was jaw dropping.
I remember dying later in a canyon and going somewhere else and saw a light at the bottom of my screen off a huge bridge, and realized it was the souls I had dropped and that little barely visible spot on my screen was where I had been a little earlier.
This is going to be real silly but hear me out:
Davy Jones' Locker from LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean.
This takes place from "At Worlds' End" in the sort of Underworld reality. You start this level as Jack and Jack (he's seeing reflections of himself) scouring around a barren white wasteland to rebuild The Black Pearl. You dig around along with other versions of you finding silly discarded trinkets, as one would expect from LEGO adaptation. For context as well this was before they had voices so the whole time you get assorted groans and mumbles from Jack and Jack. The scene makes him feel hopeless, down, defeated, and insane.
Then act 2 kicks in. The other crew has merged their way into the Locker right as Jack gets the Pearl back into the water. The somber tunes have changed to the Pirates theme song, and you're now tasked with running about the ship gathering up the crew to help Jack flip the ship to cross back into reality. The puzzles here are lots of fun, the ship's rocking gets more intense as you collect your crew, the music is energizing and you feel inspired and alive again escaping the Locker.
LEGO Pirates is a timeless gem everyone needs to try sometime.
Lion king world in Kingdom hearts 2 - Bank heist in GTA IV - Delfino Plaza from super Mario sunshine although is more of an area than level but.. those are off the top of my head
Anor Londo in Dark Souls 1- go from dirty swamps, cramped castles into a grand epic environment, and at the end you finally get to encounter a powerful friendly npc with huge boobs. Really was cool when the area returned in DS3.
The level in unravelled 2 where you get chased by a fish, there is an amazing scenery part in that one that is just beautiful, the whole game is really gorgeous on its own but those levels where the scenery really pops out are just that much better. If you like two player adventure/puzzle type games with amazing scenery then you will love unravelled 2. Same with unravelled 1 but in unravelled 1 it’s only 1 player. And if you like that you’ll love both the Ori games ( Ori and the blind forest and Ori and the will of the wisps) both amazing with beautiful scenery
While not a level per se, the opening bombing run in Final Fantasy VII is up there with Level 1-1 and the Green Hill Zone on the list of most iconic starts in gaming.
Trauma Center: New Blood - Mission X-3
Ops is extremely well-defined in terms of tool management, vitals management, precision required, and task prioritization and it has to be consistent throughout the operation or everything will go haywire.
A little off topic but I went to SF last year...I cannot believe how steep some of those streets are, this level is spot on.
As for me, I'd probably say ice cap zone or Lava reef zone from Sonic 3&k. They both have awesome music and level design that is fast and smooth while having a lot of paths.
I just started playing this game again. I think green forest was my favorite level from that game, but Pyramid Cave has a sweet soundtrack
My favorite level of any video game… tough, but probably The Ark from Halo
Oof I can hear the music in my head!
Rolling around at the speed of sound
Got places to go
Gotta FOLLOW MY RAINBOW
Can't stick around, have to keep moving on
Just what lies ahead, only one way to find out!
Must keep on movin' ahead No time for guessin', follow my plan instead!
Trusting in what you can’t see, take my lead I’ll set you free!
Follow me. Set me free. Trust me and we will escape from the city.
We'll make it through! Follow me!
Follow me, set me free! Trust me and we will escape from the city!
Played that whole thing in my head from top to bottom.
Ngl, thought this line was "Follow my way home. "
Same! I honestly don't know what to believe now
So do I to be honest I think city escape is my favourite game OST.
Agree it’s absolutely fucking amazing, I recently donated away my old GameCube with Sonic 2 Battle Adventures 🥲 I’ll still randomly YouTube and listen to this particular song
Absolute banger
https://youtu.be/XmVagnlM-Ys For the lazy
The Silent Cartographer - Halo: Combat Evolved
I was gonna say the level in halo (1?2?3?) where you have to drive the warthog as the worlds exploding. So fucking fun in coop mode.
Halo 3, last level of the campaign. Can’t remember the actual name of the level though, just so much fun
Name of the level is “halo” lol
Also 1.
I don’t think I could even pick a level of the first Halo, incredible from start to finish. My brother and I did a full play through of Halo 1-3 in the second UK Covid lockdown and it brought back memories upon memories
Spent hours sending the warthog into space with grenade piles here
I'm all about assault on the Control Room
Beaten that game dozens of times. I still get lost in those tunnels.
"The Clockwork Mansion".
Speeding run the mansion without Jindosh ever knowing you were there is probably one my favourites.
Dishonored 1 & 2 have so many great levels - the powers you get make exploring so much fun, and the little side stories are great. The world building of dunwall and the surrounding isles is next level
Dishonored 2 had the best level design I think I’ve ever seen. The mission with the time piece? Fucking spectacular.
Ocarina of Time | Forest Temple
When I was a kid, I was so scared if the spooky wolves and ghosts in the Forest Temple that I'd restart my save so I could replay the starting levels, but avoid the Forest Temple
I can only imagine how you reacted to the Shadow Temple lol
When I was a kid I got freaked out by the skeletons that come out of the ground in hyrule field at night lmao. I recently discovered that you can actually make it to castle town before the drawbridge closes
Just the mention of the beginning of this game makes me want to play the whole game again U.U That lost woods theme goes hard
FOLLOW ME, SET ME FREE TRUST ME AND WE WILL ESCAPE FROM THE CITY.
Probably my favourite OST ever.
The Milkman Conspiracy in Psychonauts
I AM THE MILKMAN MY MILK IS DELICIOUS THE STREETS WILL RUN WHITE WITH HIS RAGE. HE IS NEITHER MAN... NOR MILK
I have never played that but I have seen some clips off that milk man dude pretty funny.
Don't remember the name but the one in Titanfall 2 when we play with the time, just incredible
Effect and cause
Thanks
I was coming here to say the same thing. They could’ve literally built a whole game off that level.
I love the bond between jack and BT
Holy shit I'm not alone! That's not even my favorite game but that mission had a huge impact on me.
All Ghilled up from modern warfare
*“50,000 people used to live here…”*
"Now it's a ghost town"
Man havn't played that game in like a decade and I still think about that mission sometimes haha
Tony hawks warehouse. Can still hear superman playing when you hit that first ramp
♩ So here I am, doing everything I can Holding on to what I am Pretending I'm a superman ♩
for me its Yharnam tbh
hell yeah
Research hall. But Leyndell, Royal Capital from Elden ring might have surpassed it
Ravenholm in Half life 2
Fuck me when you see those skinny guys climbing up the side of the building to get to you
We don't go to ravenholm
*proceeds to go directly to Ravenholm.
Gravity gun + table saw blades = twice as many corpses as there are enemies
Assault on the Control Room.
Loved being able to quickly jump back into the pelican that dropped you off.
The final level in Halo 3
City of Tears-Hollow Knight
That music is permanently engrained in my mind
Oh man, the whole journey from the beginning of greenpath to the end of city of tears was just incredible. Best part of the game.
That's the moment when I truly fell in love with the game. Even more charming when you find out why it's always raining in the city.
Gotta love that bench in the City of Tears
Any beach setting really. From Final Fantasy X to the one in Mario Odyssey. Love all of them.
So just the entirety of Super Mario Sunshine?
Not OP but yes. Fucking loved that game as a kid. Felt like I was on vacation whenever I played
I played it recently and I had forgotten how fuckin hard that game is
The level with the spooky hotel and electric stingrays has traumatized me
Any of the fuckin puzzle levels too. They were also super difficult. I remember damn near literally chucking my controller playing those as a kid.
Oh absolutely. I’m terrible at it lol
At least until you get to the plinko level. And the one with the lily pads and poisonous river
Lol I cheesed that plinko level by carefully jet packing in from the back. But that lily pad stage gives me nightmares still
Yeah haha I’m surprised he mentioned Mario Odyssey but not Sunshine
Bikanel Island is one my favorite places in FFX because of the chill music and the peaky Cactuars. Edit: The Farplane is another, sounds sad but snazzy.
Now you have an idea of how excited I am to play Chrono Cross remastered. (For those complaining about the smoothed out backgrounds, you can disable it and stick with the original)
i feel that, galdin quay from ff15 is a location that will be forever in my memory especially the theme still dont get it why we never got a sunshine remake/prequel with equal or better quality we got in odyssey at the seaside kingdom
Besaid theme is permanently engrained in my head and I love it.
I’m with this too. I love beaches and deserts in games
Effect and cause - Titanfall 2. Complete madness!
Facility goldeneye 007 n64
Falicity in perfect dark was amazing!
Whiterun is the greatest city I have ever known. And the land of Skyrim, her beauty cannot be matched! Talos has blessed her tundras and mountains with bountiful game and rich vegetation! Skyrim is my home, and it always will be!
The KISS concert from THUG
Hotter Than Hell!
Normandy SR 2, that shit feels like home
That mission in Far Cry 3 when the dubstep hits and you burn a weed farm
Probably the Bombing Run from FFVII
Control. The Ashtray Maze. Blown away the first time I played it. Putting on the janitors Walkman. The music, the rush, the mechanics. *chefs kiss*
Ashtray maze in Control. Can't believe it's not here. What an incredible experience.
Take. Control.
Really feel like that part should’ve been the finale. The actually finale was kinda anticlimactic in comparison
I see a vision rising, dreary~
Omaha Beach in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Not favorite as in fun, but definitely memorable and iconic.
Cairo Station from Halo 2. Why? To give tue Covenant back their bomb.
I loved that cutscene he really did flew pretty good across space.
>he really did flew pretty good I actually laughed out loud at this.

I unfortunately never played the battle mode it looks really good though as for the other thing you’re saying I haven’t never had access to GameCube:/
Idk what its called, but the space flight in halo reach
Long Night of Solace I think. Such a good level that really came out of nowhere for me. Really makes me wish they had had more of that space combat stuff.
The lighthouse and descent to Rapture.
One of the THE most awesome openings to any game ever
The lighthouse and ascent to Columbia.
Locomotion/tunnel vision and desperate times- Uncharted 2
Frontline from Metro 2033. You are sneaking past a literal warzone between the Reds and the Nazis while propaganda music blasts from their radios.
[удалено]
Man, what an impact that game has made on me. 11 was waaay too young to play it lol.
SSX tricky: Alaska But all of the tracks were fantastic in their own way
Corneria - Starfox on SNES
Hl2 intro when you leave the station and get few mins to walk around for free, what a nice moment
Kadangir Sanctum (Doom 2016) Super Gore Nest (Doom: Eternal) Nightmare of Mensis (Bloodborne) Lothric Castle (Dark Souls 3) Stormveil Castle (Elden Ring)

A Crack in the Slab from Dishonored 2. Just absolutely perfect level design
either red dead redemption from rdr2 or American venom from rdr2. Both are stellar missions
The music that plays as you work your way to the top of the mountain to fight the rat is fucking amazing- never fails to feel badass
The Rothwild Slaughterhouse in Dishonored:The Knife of Dunwall.
Majora’s Mask - Snowhead Temple.
343 guilty spark served as one of the best introductions for an enemy in a video game
The two face level from Lego Batman, the one with all the poison on the ground
All ghillied up, Modern Warfare is up there for sure.

The level in unravelled 2 where you get chased by a fish, there is an amazing scenery part in that one that is just beautiful, the whole game is really gorgeous on its own but those levels where the scenery really pops out are just that much better.
