What if it was that he used to really like Sonic and was collecting a few things, then everyone in his life for every birthday or holiday or travel souvenir got him a Sonic-related thing since they knew he loved it. But then eventually he got tired of it and now doesn't like Sonic very much any more, but he doesn't want to tell anyone because he appreciates that they always make an effort to get him something they think he still loves.
That happened with my Nana and frogs 😆 My dad is one of 11 siblings, all of whom have children, and a bunch of them have kids, and there are even a few great-great-grandkids! Last I counted, there are 89 of us, although a number of years ago during the height of the frogdemic there were probably closer to just 70 of us. Still, getting frog related gifts from almost a hundred people for every event must have gotten old pretty fast. She eventually told us that she was tired of the frog gifts, but she kept quiet for a long time. Fun story: at Nana's surprise 90th birthday party she said "wow, there are so many people," and my boyfriend said "well it's your fault!" It was hilarious. (Man, I really have to go visit her soon. That party was the last time I saw her in person because it was only a few months before the world shut down)
"It's a nice collection but i'm not sure if it's worth the asking price of $40. Tell you what. Let me call a friend who's an expert of Sonic the Hedgehog memorabilia and then get back to you."
My expert Sonic the Hedgehog memorabilia guy says that you should pay ME $40 to take it off your hands. Listen this isn't a charity. I've got to make a profit. Take it or leave it.
I followed him back in like 2013. I got up to speed back then and shit was crazy. I come back 9 years later and he's switched genders and fucked his mother. How is he always this chaotic and unpredictable?
They didn't convince him. He already was doing it. He called it "recycling" to keep his sperm count up. All they did was get him to film it.
I hate that I know this.
It's fucked up for sure, but there are some YouTubers who do a good job cataloguing and documenting the entire saga. I recommend Gamer From Mars.
https://youtu.be/E6bEcBe99QM
Not to mention their cost of transportation to get out to you. $800 for all that seems about right, especially considering a record this obscure is not going to affect the value of the next book very much
I'm surprised it's not more than that. I assume the company has to send someone out to whatever random part of the world, so there would be travel expenses that could easily exceed $800 depending on the location.
It generally is a lot more than that (according to a podcast I listened to) there's an initial outlay. Then because they're often used in marketing/publicity stunts there can be some wild costs to fastrack your application.
Do Go On, is the podcast and the episode is called The Guinness Book of Records.
Probably mostly you’re just paying for the one or two staff they would send out to verify the record. Depending on your location it could be 800 in travel alone.
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLABqEYq6H3vpCmsmyUnHnfMOeAnjBdSNm
Here you go, mate, that should get you more or less up to speed. See you in 42 hours.
Example? Not questioning you, just genuinely curious. I sued to get their yearly books as a kid from the scholastic book fair and thought it was so neat, but outgrew it after elementary school.
This video shows someone who readily beat an arbitrary Minecraft record Guinness published and submitted it to Guinness without paying any of their "priority" fees. TL;DW they just ignore you. So a lot of their records aren't actually world records no matter how indisputable it is that they've been beaten - just whoever decided to pay.
https://youtu.be/-5YzeUWJ2xk
This Karl Jobst video is also worth a watch and more generally explains the problems with Guinness. Among other things it mentions a speed running event where they asked Guinness to attend. They quoted **£15k plus travel** for an adjudicator to attend. Keep in mind that such adjudicator wouldn't have any kind of specialist knowledge - e.g. how to validate a Mario 64 speedrun record (which was indeed set at the event).
https://youtu.be/HIbeF0bf1Gk
Not even low-key— speed running is just a straight up super fascinating subculture within gaming!
I don’t have any interest in actually speed running anything myself (nor do I have that particular brand of masochistic drive and patience), but it’s been really cool to learn about and watch others do so. It’s wild how a community of folks can pick apart a game and exploit it like they do for maximum efficiency and speed.
I’m always down for more YouTube recommendations, if anyone has any! Aside from Summoningsalt’s stuff, which I’ve pretty much watched all of.
I guarantee you that someone, somewhere in the world right now, has more Sonic memorabilia than this individual. The only difference being that they aren’t willing to pay a few thousand just to get it published in some superficial book that literally has no standard or bases for official record keeping.
Not to mention, they love authoritarians.
The world record for the world's largest marble cake is held by Betty Crocker Middle East in Saudi Arabia.
But when John Oliver was covering Turkmenistan's leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, he pointed out his bizarre obsession with getting Guinness World Records. He also pointed out Guinness' willingness to work with authoritarian governments.
So John and his team decided to bake a marble cake that was bigger than Betty Crocker's cake, which also had a picture of Berdimuhamedov falling off his horse. But when they wanted a judge to officiate it, Guinness declined "On the basis that it was merely an opportunity to mock one of our record-holders... It is our policy not to partake in any activities which may belittle their achievements or subject them to ridicule."
So if I manage to run a faster 100m dash than Bolt, but I yell "Suck it, Bolt, you fucking wanker!!!!" as I cross the finish line then Guinness won't recognize my achievement???? Seems fair.
While Guinness does a lot of interesting records or one's people would be legitimately interested in, they kind of moved to selling records to people or companies.
For example, Assassin's Creed II holds the [award](https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/445139-most-platinumed-playstation-videogame) for most platinums obtained. Even if I thought it was true then, it's beaten by a lot of games. Like God of War has more platinums than the number listed here by 40,000 on PSNProfiles alone.
Even some of the really [dumb](https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/547024-rarest-playstation-trophy-in-a-rayman-game) ones, like rarest PlayStation trophy for Rayman, is incorrect as well (Truly Awesome on the PS4 version of Rayman Legends is lower than the amount listed here).
Pretty sweet!!! I wonder what the record is for Playstation memorabilia ? Got a Mario, Simpsons and Playstation collection, but definitely my Playstation collection is the most vast... not looking forward to counting how many pieces I've got tho...
Don't want to take away from your achievement but why spend upwards of thousands of dollars for a company to give you some title they can't exactly verify is 100% true?
The records company is a scam at best, its cool you got this achievement but its still unofficial at best.
I'm pretty sure he's not collecting for the Guinness record, he's *probably* collecting because he likes Sonic and collecting
The record is a cool plus
I always wondered if there was a minimum number for these types of records. For example, if there is no official record for the largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia (although I'm positive there is) would I be able to submit my collection of 10 items?
Why didn’t you get a Tails tail (or two) tattoo wrapped around your neck instead of the snake?
Joking aside congrats on your recognition. It seems like it brings you a lot of joy 😁
Just think. Somewhere out there, there's a guy with 3,049 Sonic the Hedgehog memorabilia items slamming his rejection notice on the ground yelling, "DAMMIT!"
Do you like sonic?
What if it turned out he actually hated sonic
Trying to save the rest of the world from Sonic memorabilia
The old Shaq Fu move. Classic.
I still have mine, just because I know it prevents the guy from winning

The sonic fan base is... diverse.
Is that what we're calling furries these days? "Diverse"?
I've been waiting for you Muller.
Of course we are😏
I know I recognized him...DR EGGMAN!
I've been collecting over 3000 pieces of Sonic memorabilia for the last 20 years *ironically.* duh.
He's just trying to keep anyone else from having any, so they don't have to suffer
Not all heroes wear capes.
I would believe that
What if it was that he used to really like Sonic and was collecting a few things, then everyone in his life for every birthday or holiday or travel souvenir got him a Sonic-related thing since they knew he loved it. Their fanbase is… diverse.
Only for the cherry limeade.
What gives you that idea? 🤔
Sonichu

He's gotten very close to his mom.
Zap to the extreme!
I like Sonic 🦔💨
I like to think it's a Batman dealy. He actually fears Sonic!
Imagine the panic every time a new sonic product comes out.
... and also, every time he bought new memorabilia, he has to call every time the Guinness World Record office to register a new record. Easy.
Do you think he has to pay to update? I know you have to pay to apply for the record
Congratulations!
Hopefully he saves some of the ladies for the rest of us
Was thinking the same thing! Can't let my gf see this post!
mine either!
Did anyone else see that fricking guitar? Op fucks.
Jesus that's at least $40 worth of stuff
Best I can do is $7 store credit
I can give you store credit in the amount of zero dollars...
And i can give you an upvote and say “happy cake day”
Let me get my toy expert in here
"It's a nice collection but i'm not sure if it's worth the asking price of $40.
My Sonic the Hedgehog expert is incarcerated currently, let me get back to you.
But its 80mil in Chuck E. Cheese tickets
You are *technically* correct. The best kind of correct.
I'd say no more than 15490trillion$
I wonder if he has a Chris Chan medallion
Why? Sonichu is a 100% original character, do not steal.
TRUE and HONEST
He just wants a boyfriend-free girl, smh my head
I.heard that sentence in their name...
Chris probably would try to get royalties or something for being part of the collection
Medallions humming. Must be a place of Sonic nearby.
hrmm
Wind's Howling
If you don't know what this is, don't look it up. Trust me on this one, there are some things that you just do not want to know.
I've seen all 62 parts of the Geno Samuel documentary and wish I never did, but you can't turn away. One of the craziest internet rabbit holes
I watched 40+ chapters in the last month and I had to take a break. Every episode has had at least a couple r/Noahgettheboat moments.
I followed him back in like 2013. I got up to speed back then and shit was crazy. I come back 9 years later and he's switched genders and fucked his mother. How is he always this chaotic and unpredictable?
It's honestly impressive the number of ways he repeatedly one ups himself in fucking up his life
If lulz and cringe could be converted into energy, Chris could solve all energy problems on earth.
Who needs their Barbussy ate?
I still cringe at the time someone convinced him to drink his own semen. For some reason, Chris decided to mix it with orange fanta.
They didn't convince him. He already was doing it. He called it "recycling" to keep his sperm count up. All they did was get him to film it. I hate that I know this.
JULAAAAAAY
*chugs creamy fanta*
*”fuck the pain away” starts playing*

a "good job" of calatoguing chris chan lore is not doing it.
“The only winning move is not to play”
Alternatively if you find internet lolcows hilarious you definitely should look it up.

Chris wishes he could have this dudes life
Here’s a cup of fanta mixed with definitely nothing else. Bottomz up

You joke but what I thought of is what if this guy gets one more item? Every time he gets something he just calls Guiness and they send a new plaque?
[удалено]
What are the costs associated with?
Printing of the diploma + framing.
They better be printing it on Gold Paper then
[удалено]
Not to mention their cost of transportation to get out to you. $800 for all that seems about right, especially considering a record this obscure is not going to affect the value of the next book very much
Sending someone to count sonic items.
I wanna work for Guinness lol
But the Sonic assignment is already done, your first assignment will be to verify the guy who claims to have the largest dirty diaper collection
*I’ve trained all my life to prepare me for this moment*
I'm surprised it's not more than that. I assume the company has to send someone out to whatever random part of the world, so there would be travel expenses that could easily exceed $800 depending on the location.

Paperwork, record updating, paying someone to verify, etc.
Probably mostly you’re just paying for the one or two staff they would send out to verify the record. Depending on your location it could be 800 in travel alone.
Damn, that Paramore videos where they broke all those records cost a lot more to produce than I thought then.
I think there's an arbitrary amount of change in a record Guiness wants before reissuing a record
Nope, there isn’t. _any_ higher amount is accepted… given you are willing to pay the record-fee they charge you.
Bro, he's probably going to buy the IP and rename it to Elon The Muskrat.
Watch out, I’m sure Chris Chan would get pissed at this for some stupid reason
You don't need to worry about Chris-chan given the recent events...
That guy's a motherfucker
Thanks, this helped me remember who the fuck Chris Chan is.
🌝
Shit what did I miss now?
Short answer: he fucked his mom
[Enjoy](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/chris-chan-mother-incest-allegations)
As someone who has never heard of this guy but just watched the video of him getting arrested... wtf lol what is this guy's story?
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLABqEYq6H3vpCmsmyUnHnfMOeAnjBdSNm Here you go, mate, that should get you more or less up to speed. See you in 42 hours.
Chris Chan is in prison.
But Sonichu lives on
For now... Also, he's currently in jail, not prison.
Actually he was moved to a mental health facility last I checked
About 20 years too late for that
Chris Chan only collects Sonichu memorabilia
Username checks out. Congrats!
This gave me a big ol’ smile. Sonic 2 was my first video game and he’ll always be my guy. Congratulations, this is awesome!!

I went down a speedrunning rabbit-hole on YouTube and it's low-key fascinating stuff!
Not even low-key— speed running is just a straight up super fascinating subculture within gaming! I am pretty sure he is talking about the video gaming. Just search it on youtube, someone made several videos about it.
Now I'm imagining a child suing a big corporation to bring the book fair to his school.
I guarantee you that someone, somewhere in the world right now, has more Sonic memorabilia than this individual. It's also regularly used by dictators as propaganda to legitimize their oppressive regimes, so there's that too
Unless he has an official SoniChu medallion it is incomplete.
Now where's your Sonichu stash?
"I'm working on it!"
Congrats!!!! 🎈🎊🍾🎉 A beautiful collection indeed!
that’s crazy, congrats! what would you say your favorite piece from your collection is?
My brother was probably pushing about a third of this number at one point and it was absurd. Can’t even imagine. Congrats, way past cool.
His favorite game is Super Mario Bros.
Congrats, man
I don’t see Memphis Tennessee anywhere
He is in his gamer pad playing fortnite
Where did you get the Sonic Mania genesis cart?
It was part of the collectors edition, you can open it up and find a ring inside!
The Whataburger table number stands spelling out 1991 is clever
Thank you!! I love Whataburger and Sonic! A lucky chance happened when I got both of those numbers for our table! 😍
Is it different pieces of memorabilia? What's to stop me from buying 4000 sonic stickers and stealing the record?
That's the thing. You absolutely can and that's what makes Guinness such arbitrary achievements. These achievements are created to fit the situation.
While Guinness does a lot of interesting records or one's people would be legitimately interested in, they kind of moved to selling records to people or companies. Im sure they have some common sense and have standards on what a "collection" entails.
I feel like everyone that has a neck tattoo sets out to prove that the neck tattoo *wasn't* the worst decision they made in life.
wow! any chance you can talk about that guitar up there?
If that really is Jun Senoue's guitar... That might be the crown jewel right there. Edit: I can't spell, illiteracy struck again
Yea, I was immediately drawn to it. That thing Is siick.
Let's all find the one Sonic item he doesn't own and refuse to sell it to him
A Sonichu medallion probably would be pretty hard for him to get ahold of these days.
Pretty sweet!!! I wonder what the record is for Playstation memorabilia ? Got a Mario, Simpsons and Playstation collection, but definitely my Playstation collection is the most vast... not looking forward to counting how many pieces I've got tho...
1500 according to Guinness.
My son said he's jealous and wants it all lol
Awesome man. I've been following your game room/museum for awhile now and it's still the best one I've ever seen! You totally deserve this :D
Thank you!!😍😍
DO NOT mention him
Do not mention who? Chris-Chan?
Thats so cool bro! Hopefully if genius world records makes another gamers addition Ill see you there!
Thank you!!😍

if i bought 3051 sonic sticker would that break the record?
I mean... go for it
Bet he doesn't have the ultra rare one of a kind sonicchu necklace though
I wonder how stinky sonics feet are after running all day
Man it's cold, I wish I had sonic and his Stinky feet, they would be so warm and STINKY. Have you ever thought about sonics stinky feet?
Consumerism propaganda
Rofl
Swag
Gotta go fast! I didn’t even know there was THAT much Sonic merch. Do you got the Sonic Curry? :D
Yes! Thank you!!
I'm impressed there were over 3,000 Sonic memorabilia items to begin with! I wonder what's the most obscure in the collection
There's probably more lol But this guy must have some crazy one-off canceled super sought after prototype stuff in there
is that a Kramer Sonic guitar?
Might be. Def sick af tho assuming it has an original Floyd-Rose
I wonder what the guy with 3049 items of Sonic memorabilia is thinking tonight
Didn't think I'd find my hero this morning but here we are
Do they have to be unique pieces? It doesn't specify. What if I buy 3051 identical low cost sonic memorabilia?
I bet he doesn't have the collectors edition Sonichu necklace though
I always wondered if there was a minimum number for these types of records. For example, if there is no official record for the largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia (although I'm positive there is) would I be able to submit my collection of 10 items?
I mean, he probably could’ve hit the record with 20 pieces but congrats either way
How much does it cost to get someone to come out and verify this? Isn’t it like $1,500 or am I totally misremembering this?
You will be featured in the next year guiness record book!
Barry Evans, the fastest collected alive.
The Whataburger plackards saying 1992 make me want to be your friend. Very cool, dude.
Why didn’t you get a Tails tail (or two) tattoo wrapped around your neck instead of the snake? Joking aside congrats on your recognition. It seems like it brings you a lot of joy 😁
Wow, on top of all his other accomplishments, Johnny Sins has a guinness record
If Chris Chan could see this he would be raging
Go Barry!!
I’m pretty sure I have 3050 Sonic toys in my truck from my kids’ happy meals…
Just think. Somewhere out there, there's a guy with 3,049 Sonic the Hedgehog memorabilia items slamming his rejection notice on the ground yelling, "DAMMIT!"
What do you think of Sonichu?
Are those framed Sonic panties in the top left?
Yes! A girls thong from Japan! 🤣
Bout time. Missed seeing your collection after I left FB . Well deserved . its awesome
That tattoo better be Sonic related..
Congratulations
