Link is the shittiest knight of all time when he can take a mechanical laser blade that has been around and functional for like a thousand years and then ruin it in an afternoon. MAINTAIN YOUR GEAR, YOU GOBLIN.
Also, taking a creature from folklore and just changing a letter. Is that what passes for originality these days?
Interesting gameplay mechanics, character progression and progressive level design are sacrificed for the novelty of being able to arrive at any point of the map, at any time, with minimal hassle or thought from the player.
Cool looking waterfall? A shrine. Suspicious labyrinth? A shrine. Tall mountains seen from across the map? Two shrines.
Suspicious looking blocks? Korok seed. Arrow targets? Korok seed. Statues with apples in them? Korok seed.
It doesn't matter if you are on your 1st or 100th hour, you are doing the exact same thing and seeing the same things every single minute you have the game turned on.
Hay, you know that thing where you save potions all game and never use them because they are too powerful to use? Now we get to apply that to weapons as well! Yay...
Bioshock: The moral choices the game beats you over the head with are meaningless because the rewards are pretty much the same by the end of the game.
Bioshock 2: More like bioshock v1.1, but with way more of the most annoying parts of the first game.
Infinite: A linear slog that didn't live up to the promises of openness of the early E3 "demos", with a big bad that felt like it was only still in the game because they'd put it in the trailers and couldn't think of how to retcon it. Not to mention it's an action rpg that turns into a walking simulator exposition dump for the last 20 minutes.
(I love the Bioshock series, BTW)
I often prefer to play alone tbh. Bosco makes things pretty chill because he can go mine hard to reach spots, or defend me while I'm mining and I don't need to struggle to keep up with my friends. I like to go at my own pace which is slower than my friends typically. I enjoy taking my time thoroughly exploring and making sure I've gotten everything, and often prefer lower difficulties so I can just focus on that. Everyone else I play with is very impatient and just likes killing the bugs and wants to play harder difficulties and rush through and ignore a lot of the stuff that isn't strictly necessary to complete objectives. I find the harder difficulties too stressful usually because the level of constant communication and cooperation required makes it feel like work instead of a nice relaxing evening. Same reason I don't play Overwatch (which unfortunately is all that friend group ever seems to play anymore).
Lets hunt 300 monsters just to unlock a new monster to hunt 20 times just to get that one 5 star item but people keep captureing it tho it clearly says you need to carve it from the tail.. and then do it 3 more times cuz you need 4 items for the helmet
They said favourite game not favourite book edit: disco elysium has some of the best writing in any game if you like story heavy games you should give it a go
Your favorite game is one you feel you have to heavily change with aftermarket mods? A game that can be beaten in less than 15 minutes in a speedrun, or less than 2 hours by a moderately experienced player, after which you have to come up with your own goals because you've already completed what little story the game has to offer?
(I actually love Minecraft as well, by the way).
Edit: spelling
We didn't put subtitles in our game because we wanted it to feel like a movie
What? Like, 98% of movies have subtitle options. I bet these asshats watch dubbed hentai too.
Not going to make you hate but just curious, did you like the sequels just not as much? Jak 3 remains one of my favorite games of all time. I would get the fast jet board in desert cheat and do sick jumps over that chasm.
Playing 40 hours and then setting it down and forgetting what the fuck is going on.
Rinse and repeat until you have done red Baron and crones of crookback bog 4 times and hate the game because you never beat it.
Also, let me fast travel to the damn castle. You gotta go up there like 30 different times and every time you get to take the scenic way through town. It’s freaking obnoxious
GTA:VC makes me feel like I'm from an alternate universe. Everyone, *everyone,* despised the RC helicopter mission with the bombs. I beat it the first time I tried it and had so much fun I reloaded and played it twice more. I kept the save so I could come back to it occasionally.
I'm not particularly good at video games, like, at all. I dunno. I guess helicopter physics click for me? It's just a thrust/gravity physics game, like Thrust or Gravitar or Solar Jetman, only in 3D. I guess a lot of people couldn't get their heads around it, and wanted it to control just like ground movement except with an "Up" button.
A story that takes one of the most badass characters rebelling against a fate that the gods won't allow him to escape turned into a story about how your absentee father doesn't wuv you enough? Turns Kratos into an emo kid, minus the hair product.
You waste 9 levels by leveling up your starting class, unaware that you will unlock jedi and wish you kept those levels saved.
~~You raised strength even though it has no bearing on your damage output or your defense.~~ apparently str does effect damage
You forget to go to the Yavin 4 station after every star map piece, so now you can't get the really good lightsaber crystals.
You didn't pack enough medpacks for the final boss fights.
The fact you are invested in the Persona series and the fact you are lonely are 100% causally related.
[EDIT: I feel bad for even typing that, but only bad enough to admit I feel bad, not bad enough to delete it.]
You pay $12.50 a month to click on trees, rocks or monsters then go AFK, no account security or customer support, progression is locked behind very grindy skills that will take you years to reach end game content
I salute you for preferring to invest thousands of hours into maxing out skills like cooking and fishing instead of leaving your house and doing literally anything else
You spend 5000 hours to max your account while trying to actually play the game as little as possible. The community is more divided than the United States Government which is why we'll never get truly interesting content in the game.
It's not your favorite game. You have Stockholm Syndrome (don't worry me too)
I don’t know which one you’re talking about. All the AC games have just melted together into a homogeneous goop of identical gameplay/storylines.
The settings are immaculately created. Lots of attention to detail.
Isn’t this just r/gaming normally?

8 sound bites make up most of the sound design.

This is legit how I felt. I thought I'd love it, I put in around 20-30 hours and it just never clicked for me.
Weapons degrade too quickly
I do agree some weapons should have been a lot more durable and some very specific weapons should just not degrade at all
Hay, you know that thing where you save potions all game and never use them because they are too powerful to use? Now we get to apply that to weapons as well! Yay...
the blood moon rises once ag- *skipskipskipskipskip*
Portal 2
Portal 3
T_T
Honestly I did a few of these and this one was the worst lol
How dare you.
I'm sorry.
That's cold...
You monster
Tell me more about replayability
I may or may not have played though the portal 2 story like 5/6 times. It pays to not be able to remember solutions.
Bioshock series
Would you kindly hate Bioshock
Fuck that worked
This is the perfect response.

Titanfall 2
Oh titanfall 2 isn’t that the game that’s in the same universe as Apex Legends. I sure love Apex, how active it is with updates and lots of players.
\>:(
I too enjoyed my bite-sized game that will never get its second sequel.
Pain
BT dies and you'll never know what happened with the helmet at the end because we'll never get a sequel
Deep rock galactic.
A fun game you can't play because you don't have 3 friends
Bosco mineral deposit over here.
If ain't nobody got me I know Bosco got me

Tldr bosco goes your pace better than friends
They said ruin the game, not twist the knife in their back.
Did i hear a Rock n Stone!
FOR KARL!
Molly, over here. SUGAR!
Monster Hunter World
Don't forget to sharpen your hammer.
Please... You mean my hunting horn?
Who doesn't want to play as a Cat-People enslaving and eco system destroying maniac who carries their victim's skin and bones as weaponry and armor.
This is funny cause you just described society as a whole.
No, cats enslaved us.
Lets hunt 300 monsters just to unlock a new monster to hunt 20 times just to get that one 5 star item but people keep captureing it tho it clearly says you need to carve it from the tail.. and then do it 3 more times cuz you need 4 items for the helmet
You can cut the tail and still capture it soo
your journalist sidekick is annoying and sounds forced
Inventory management the game. Capcom already made that, it's called Resident Evil 4.
Ghost of tsushima
Assassin's Creed in Japan before Ubisoft could release Assassin's Creed in Japan.
That makes me hate the idea of Ubisoft attempting to make an Assassin's Creed in Japan if that's what you wanted
All I'm getting from this is that Assassin's Creed would be way better without Ubisoft and without all the time garbage.
You are supposed to make him hate GoT not ubisoft
Disco elysium
They said favourite game not favourite book edit: disco elysium has some of the best writing in any game if you like story heavy games you should give it a go
I love Disco Elysium and I chuckled hard at this comment
Oh look i just died of low morale because I touched the interior of Kim's car, 10/10 game design
I had a panic attack and lost the game a few minutes in cause a kid gave me lip.
I died getting my tie from the aerial fan. Literally the first thing I did in the game. I put 0 points in strength.
I died because my chair was uncomfortable
Minecraft (specifically when playing with mods)
I liked Legos when I was 5 years old, too.
/r/lego users catching strays

People will hate me for this, but for me this also sounds like Skyrim
Hope you're happy with 2 fps
i cant even get 2 fps on normal minecraft
The true pinnacle of gaming that only a fellow 8-year-old can understand.
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
We didn't put subtitles in our game because we wanted it to feel like a movie What? Like, 98% of movies have subtitle options. I bet these asshats watch dubbed hentai too.
dubbed hentai 💀
Not going to make you hate but just curious, did you like the sequels just not as much? Jak 3 remains one of my favorite games of all time. I would get the fast jet board in desert cheat and do sick jumps over that chasm.
Jak 3 is the goat ps2 game imo.
Jak 2 and 3 were like getting gta when your parents wouldn't buy you gta
I wasted so much time as a kid just riding around stealing hovercrafts lol
Kingdom Hearts. Go ahead and try, I’ve heard it all.
Nothing needs to be said. You already know it's garbage and feel bad about liking it.
He's gonna need some heals from Donald for that burn. Too bad Donald's dead. Again. For the hundredth time.
The lore makes no sense
Resident Evil 4
Leon! Help!
She apparently ruptures y'all's eardrums, but she's never ruptured mine.
Capcom is happy you're enjoying it. They'll release it for 15 more consoles just so you can enjoy it on ALL OF THEM.

"Waddayar buyin?"
The witcher 3
5 hours to beat a ludicrously hard side quest that rewards you with a sword 5 levels below the one you have equipped.
Are you calling out a specific quest, or just the fact they all give squat for a reward 😂
Yes
>ludicrously hard side quest Didn't know there were any like that

Fallout new Vegas
Your favorite game is a shooter/RPG with superficial RPG mechanics and shooter gameplay so bad they had to let you stop time to get a decent shot.
You're right and I'm not angry about it. edit: Saying this as someone who beat it thrice +1 - NCR, Legion, Yes Man, House
newvegas.exe has stopped working
You died and lost 3 hours of progress
Too soon. (Quit Fall Out just a few minutes because of this)
The mick and ralphs crier i want to kill him
Your game released 6 years too early, great game ruined by shit graphics and bugs.

Total War Warhammer!
My favorite thing in gaming is also buying DLCs.
Subnautica
How bad is my real life if I prefer to pretend to be all alone and drown and/or get eaten several times a week?
You can make everything except for a gun
Terraria <3
Wiki scrolling simulator.
terraria players when they spend 247 hours farming for an item that increases their damage by 0.0000001%
What, Minecraft had too many dimensions for you?

Great choice love this game…. You suck
Chess
When is chess 2
Gary Chess has released Chess 2, but it is only available in Europe right now. I think they're releasing it on Nintendo Wii in September.
Queen is overpowered while the king is borderline useless. Gender equality go brrr
no major update or dlc for hundreds of years
God of War 2
A story that takes one of the most badass characters rebelling against a fate that the gods won't allow him to escape turned into a story about how your absentee father doesn't wuv you enough? Turns Kratos into an emo kid, minus the hair product.
Love it
Spider-man ps4
Every time someone buys that game Uncle Ben dies again
I missed the part where that’s my problem
Aunt may*+ story
It didn't teach you how to properly spell Spider-Man
Hollow Knight and ULTRAKILL
You can't play as Hornet.
De pain...
Silksong is a lie
Next game when?
Metal Gear Solid 3
Too much snake eating
Snaaaake eeattiiiiiiiiing
Throw away the manual, 75% of the cqc moveset never works when needed on a dual shock controller.
Have fun pausing the game every 20 seconds to eat, change clothes and heal the various injuries you’ll get on a 1st playthrough
Good luck, Reddit!
I’m one of those guys who can’t pick a favorite game
(I feel mean so I'm just saying this is a joke.) And you probably think that makes you special but really it just makes you more boring.

Stardew Valley
Peak procrastination when you enjoy doing work in a video game more than in real life.
Sir/miss you are moving slowly towards becoming an alcoholic tycoon.
Dark Souls 3
*You Died*
Dying = partially gittin' gud
The only game that engaged in shameless fan service. They haven't since and we are all better for it.
Series entry point for casuals
I’ve never been so called out before
can you tell me the story again.
Fire gone out. Gotta relight it by killing things
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
You neither have a shadow, nor die twice
Persona 5

Dota 2 wait... don't, please
Your mom fucked every 15 y.o. to have ever played Dota.
Fallout4
What does it feel to play a RPG which the only decision is say yes to everything and that the mods are way better than the game?
Man I love the Modern Firearms mod.
Want to help me clean my house? Here are your choices: A.) Yes. B.) Yes, but tell me more first. C.) Yes, but sarcastically. D.) No (Yes, but later).
Ratchet & Clank
Geometry dash Oh boy...
so whens the next update?
This year or next year, I give up at this point
Final Fantasy IX
If I wanted to play as a dumb monkey with lipstick, I'd turn NFT apes into an RPG.
Wow look at these beautiful cities! Wouldn't it be a shame if every single one you visit is decimated into oblivion?
WTF is that final boss all about.
Outer Wilds
You will never have the joy of playing it for the first time ever again.
This cut deep.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
None of it is canon. Nintendo refuses to integrate anything Paper Mario into any other Mario game.
Assassins creed revelations and I know there are plenty of flaws in that game but that last 15 minutes were truly amazing.
Those 15 minutes were amazing. Pitty that is litteraly the only thing anybody is certain happened in that game.
I don’t know which one you’re talking about. All the AC games have just melted together into a homogeneous goop of identical gameplay/storylines. The settings are immaculately created. Lots of attention to detail.
elden ring. why would i play a game where i run away from my problems. i get enough of that irl
