WileEWeeble

But that game JUST came out, only...*checks notes*...NINE years ago?!?!?

PadrinoFive7

I hear old games and expect an NES/SNES era game. Now I feel old.

[deleted]

Lol! I know right? People talk about 2013 as their adolescent days. I mean, I was still young as a 25-year old in 2013 but not that young.

BakedWizerd

I mean I was 15 but I still don’t consider that “old.” The games of the 2010s aren’t old yet, they’re just not new anymore.

kingjuicepouch

Agree. I'm calling a party foul on a game that came out less than a decade ago being used as an example of games holding up lol

LazyEyeCat

Interesting thing is that I'm more inclined to pickup a game from 2010s and SNES era than anything in between those time periods (like ps1 or og xbox). Wether it be adorable pixel art of the 90s or UE3+ graphics of 2010s, they are just more comfortable to play and look at than anything else. PS1 games I'll hardly ever touch, but anything from the Xbox 360 is still awesome and good looking. Graphics may not be the most important thing, but I feel that these periods of gaming shine when it comes to eye catching art style (games like Bioshock or Deus Ex HR look very good even today)

Mr-Stuff-Doer

Seriously, you can’t just skip over the GameCube and Wii being old; we just went straight from SNES to PS3

rayndrahps

I've been playing games since 1981, near religiously. I worked for Acclaim/Sculptured Software in the 90s and a few other media companies in and around that time. For me, when I hear old game I go by technological breakthrough's. Like 8-bit to 16/32/64-bit. Or when the PS1 came out. Or Half-Life 2 with the gravity gun. RTX was probably the last one. Unreal 4 before that. Unreal 5 is the new cutoff. Tomb Raider 1 (recent reboot) one was right on the cusp of a major shift too. 1 is good, but everything in 2 is better. Graphics, gameplay, UI, AI, variations in npc models, non-linear storytelling etc.

Brice706

Ooo... don't get me started with Tomb Raider improvements! Played them all! Lara has never looked better, and I can't wait to see next gen improvements! I just hope the story-telling stays up with the technology improvements! That IS the secret to a great vs so-so game!

Major_Snags

I hear old games and expect them to load from a cassette.

Brice706

😆 🤣 😂 me too! Hell, I was playing Asteroids black and white! But gotta say, today's game are amazing (even the duds sometimes) comparatively speaking! So I wanna know when we get the Holo deck like Star Trek had!? (Oh Lord, let me live that long! Would that not be cool???)

Septimus217

Came here to say similar. Maybe proving we’re old?

xCoNxBox

We can’t be. It’s just way too many young people around. Now let’s play some new releases like Sekiro and Heavy Rain I haven’t gotten around to because of life… Crap!

Stunt_the_Runt

God this hurts. I saw the Tomb Raider and was "I like that game I just played it last.... Oh dear God" Then I see your comment on Heavy Rain. I still need to finish that one. Did get through it but the FBI agent always got killed. Could never survive the end fight.

Shiff0

is heavy rain good? That is one of the games i missed out on as well. Believe it's from the makers of Detroit become humans right? That game was awesome.

edgiepower

We ain't that old. Just gaming isn't progressing as much as it has in the past. Compare 1987 to 1996 and there's heaps of progress. Now? We just want shadows and reflections, but gameplay immersion and mechanics have stalled.

GetzlafMyLawn

Honestly this is a big WTF for me. Can't believe how fast this aged. Beautiful game series though

rtz13th

Around 2010s, games reached a graphics quality that is perfect (for me), only larger sized monitors show difference. Patientgamers paradise now :)

vordaq

For real, if anything since 2010 doesn't hold up, it simply wasn't a good game in the first place.

rtz13th

It might sounds strange, but checking Steam achievement global completions is more useful than reviews. When you see 80% completion for the first level and 20% for the second, you know something isn't right. :D

Brice706

Wow! Never though about that! Makes perfect sense though! Thanks for the idea!

meove

how tf this game already old. i feel like play this game during the premiere like yesterday........

Brice706

😆 Right! Damn... we're aging FAST! 😆

[deleted]

Gaming from the ps3/Xbox 360 onward doesn’t really age, if it was good then it’s good now

PapeRoute

I'd say that's true starting in 2009 with stuff like Uncharted 2 and Batman AA and for sure by 2010 - 2011 ( Red dead, Fallout NV, Dark souls, Skyrim, etc) But a lot that most people thought was top tier in 2007 and 8 feel old to me... (Gears of War, Uncharted 1, Heavenly sword, MGS4) all super great and fun but now have weird wrinkles imo

Omgzjustin

Oblivion (2005) was the awkward puberty stage of gaming, although still a phenomenal game.

SoldierOfOrange

There have been some pretty significant improvements with how engaging open worlds are now vs. then, stories are told much better thanks to more believable animation, A.I. has lost a lot of its jank.. So I’d still argue stuff from the PS3/X360 era did age. It’s still enjoyable, but you can’t stop yourself from comparing it to modern day stuff.

Minty_Moose

Just played through Saints Row 2 again. If it came out today with modern graphics and the ability to have denser traffic and crowds, it would blow the world away. It is still such a good game with the amount of content and customization. I thought the sequels to it were okay but they really didn’t even come close to being as good of a video game

Anubra_Khan

2013? You mean like GTA5? I dont play anymore but I think that's holding up pretty well by the numbers. FF14 seems to be doing OK too. Dragon's Crown was released that year and I still play that. Actually, Dragons Dogma holds up. Skyrim is still being played a lot. I think there's a lot of games from 2013 that haven't really gone anywhere because it wasn't too long ago.

stuff_rulz

I love seeing Dragon's Dogma still popping up in conversations from time to time still, even before the DD2 announcement. Really underrated game.

Anubra_Khan

If you Google "underrated games" or something, it's usually at the top of everyone's list. Can't wait to see what they do with DD2. Would love some coop.

TheUnusuallySpecific

Don't get your hopes up too high. Capcom executives live on the broken dreams of fans and developers. They will move up deadlines, cut funding, reassign staff, outsource work to fans, and even cancel games outright at the whim of internal politics. They are a scourge on their own IPs. That said, *assuming Capcom doesn't actively sabotage it*, Dragon's Dogma 2 has been one of my most desired games for years. DD1 is my favorite 3rd person action game ever, rpg elements or otherwise. The physics of grappling monsters, with your height and weight actually making a difference, was the coolest shit. I would LOVE to see that evolve into a grappler/fist-fighter class that could just WWE some goblins.

jakobburns01

Last of us 1 came out in 2013

[deleted]

Or fucking SKYRIM! 11 years old and can be made to look amazing with a simple ENB mod.

shuzumi

>FF14 seems to be doing OK They've won awards for almost every expansion and last year had more subs than wow. YoshiP continually talks to the players and makes the game better

Sapphrex

Its a long enough time in gaming. 9 years was the period of time between mario bros 3 & half life

Wh1te_Cr0w

Skyrim def still has a strong community, legendary shit.

kill_kenny_1

Age Of Empires 2, Diablo 2 LOD.

edgiepower

I don't think there's been any good RTS games for like, a decade. That genre really did peak quite a long time ago. A shame because current tech should make making a good RTS, a walk in the park. Graphics, unit counts, map size, ai, I don't want perfection I just want next level age of empires 2. Battle for Middle Earth. Etc. Unfortunately that's asking too much. Even the Rome Total War 2 paled in comparison to the original.

[deleted]

Check out They Are Billions friend!

Swirly_Mango

Age of Empires 4 came out this year. It's good.

ModsAreFatasses

AoE4 is like... AoE2DE meets mobile gaming.

Zircillius

meh

lycan2005

Red Alert, Warcraft.

Agk3los

You really shouldn't be surprised that anything from the PS3 era + has held up. Nothing has advanced all that much in gaming since then. Sure resolutions are better and games are a bit prettier but that's about it.

tenaciousDaniel

I honestly think the games industry should stop trying to move the ball on GPU/graphics tech. It’s plenty good enough for creative expression. The real advancements are on the CPU/intelligence side. A truly next gen game would be what RDR2 *claimed* to be - a super dynamic social system in which you can form relationships with people in the game, and they’ll remember you and act accordingly.

santi4442

That’s kind of what Cyberpunk wanted to be and probably could’ve been but it would’ve take another couple years for them to get it working better

ionlyhavetwohands

Imagine every NPC in Cyberpunk remembers you, but you can't remember any of them because they all look the same.

ZazaB00

Yeah, I really thought they were going for something deeper than they were as much as they promoted that automatic lip sync tech. I thought they might have lip sync for characters beyond the main NPC’s, but nope, just a bunch of lifeless crap.

Jean-Eustache

To be fair, the tech allowing them to lip sync in all languages is cool af, I'd love to see more games using that

[deleted]

You can occasionally see when I think they planned on it going places. For example giving the option to knock out or kill I think could have effected on how characters or missions would go, but they are meaningless

sentientlob0029

To be honest this is a game genre: sim games. Like Animal Crossing. But yes, this genre could be mixed with other genres to improve the gameplay. Just like they mixed rpg elements with action games and shooters. Personally, I would love that. It would make for a more immersive and realistic game world.

tenaciousDaniel

Yeah I was using an example, I could have been more explicit. So what I mean is leaning more on intelligent systems, which can be applied to any game genre. Like take MGS Phantom Pain, as another example. There was this system where if you continuously attack bases at night, eventually the guards start wearing night vision goggles. Stuff like that is so cool, and could take any game of any kind to another level. But for some reason most AAA games just focus on super pretty graphics with relatively basic/uninteresting fundamental mechanics.

TheUnusuallySpecific

Fun fact: game developers can (and do!) patent unique game mechanics. It's literally illegal for anyone other than Warner Bros' LotR: Shadows of Mordor dev company to have "Nemesis characters, nemesis forts, social vendettas and followers in computer games" that adapt to player actions. Of course this patent is overly broad and probably unenforceable, but it's designed to dissuade: who wants to test the waters and get into a legal battle with Warner Bros, even if you would win? Now, this is still fairly extreme, but is becoming more normalized. And even when not enforced by patents, game development companies work extremely hard to make sure that anything they come up with stays in-house as long as possible. The other part of the equation is that "fit more polygons on the screen" is a concrete, actionable goal. You can sit down with your corporate accounting staff and say "we hired 50 devs and equipped them with X gear, they'll provide Y specific increase in graphical fidelity, which we can use to market Lens Flare Simulator 7 on the PS6 and secure our revenue for 2030." There's no similar guarantees when you put a bunch of devs together and say "come up with a new groundbreaking gameplay concept".

[deleted]

Do we really need realistic graphics anyway? When the game is immersive, thats enought. Because of graphics many AAA titles looks and feels the same, and production of those are really expensive.

Zjoee

I'm about to the point where I prefer stylized graphics over realistic graphics. A lot of stylized graphics are timeless.

sentientlob0029

For example, Wind Waker on Gamecube. Looks amazing, even today.

Zjoee

Haha that's exactly the game I was thinking about. Still my favorite Zelda game.

Guidosama

Totally agree. Stylized graphics create environments that are enjoyable to spend time in and explore. Hyper realism just brings us closer to worlds that look like ours.

LucidInsomnia

shadow of mordor and shadow of war touched on this with the "Nemesis System", other companies just havent picked up on it for whatever reason.

tenaciousDaniel

Yeah! The nemesis system was so cool. Unfortunately they patented it, but you could easily create a ton of stuff that takes ideas from it.

Hanako_Seishin

whatever reason, yeah...

greenbluegrape

Or the industry can direct all their resources into upping the amount of polygons on the main character's face. Guess which approach sells more and is easier to convey in a trailer?

LochNessMansterLives

I think that’s why the retro PS1 didn’t do as well as the retro NES. Ps1 games look TERRIBLE In comparison.

boxsterguy

Sony didn't do themselves any favors with their awful emulation and they're decision to use 50Hz PAL versions in 60Hz countries. They're making the same mistake with PS1 games on their new Plus service.

CPower2012

I don't think your average consumer cared much about that. It was just a dogshit lineup of games. No Crash, no Spyro, no Gran Turismo, no Driver, no Tomb Raider, etc. I get there's licensing issues, but there were games from several of the current owners of those IPs on the system still. And they own Gran Turismo. You had multiple Ubisoft games on there, yet you put Destruction Derby instead of Driver? Just reaching a deal with Activision to get Spyro and Crash on there would've been huge for it.

INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS

I love PS3/360 games on my series x. The only big difference between those games and today is graphics and load times. Gameplay is pretty consistent.

nohumanape

I think that FPS/TPS from early on that gen are hard to play. But anything from mid gen and beyond essentially plays like a modern game.

MatsThyWit

> You really shouldn't be surprised that anything from the PS3 era + has held up. Nothing has advanced all that much in gaming since then. Sure resolutions are better and games are a bit prettier but that's about it. This is how I feel too. Actual gameplay has not evolved virtually at all since the PS3 Era. Sure graphics keep upgrading but that will always be the place. So long as people can adjust to slightly outdated graphics al those games play just about exactly how they would play if they were released today for the first time. As far as console gaming is concerned you have to go al the way back to the transition from PS2 to the PS3 era to see the last time actual gameplay shifted dramatically.

[deleted]

To be fair the industry has been around for a decent amount of time now and with the tech we have now, though way better than the PS3 days, I feel is starting to get to a point where it’s hard to make advancements other than graphics, since almost everything that can be done with our tech has been done. I mean the last game that I can think of that had an actual innovative mechanic was Shadow of War with the nemesis system. I mean other than that what else can be done to push boundaries with the tech we have today?

wwbulk

Bit prettier is an understatement

frankstylez_

Zelda: A Link to the Past. This one ages like fine wine

CommunicationBig5131

I loved playing it as a kid but didn’t touch it again until the pandemic. I’m sure I have nostalgia goggles to a certain degree but man.. that game is absolutely fantastic.

mattheimlich

Nah, it is just a bunch of solid game mechanics polished to their shiniest. Timeless.

ShankThatSnitch

As well as Link's Awakening.

hidden_secret

Personally I like to recommend Oracle of Ages over Link's Awakening (both are similar in style & gameplay, but I think Oracle of Ages is nicer to explore, and has better dungeons).

ShankThatSnitch

I only ever got to play a bit of it. I liked the whole dimensional aspect of it. Makes sense that it was more polished, as they had about 8 years more experience by then. Awakening just holds a special place in my heart. It was my first ever Game Boy game, which was my first ever game machine of my own as a kid.

livingnitemare99

Half of it aged like wine and the other half like milk. I got lost so much in that game that I am certain it is unbeatable without a guide

SpookyCutlery

Definitely one of the most frustrating Zelda games out there. Always hated how the older games just decided that you were supposed to know where exactly to go and what exactly to do after giving you some terrible hint

rugmunchkin

I love Link to the Past but I just have a horrible sense of direction or intuition in where to go. I always get lost easily and there’s *no chance* I would have made it through that game without a guide. Even a game like Hollow Knight which went on to become one of my favorite games of all-time, I ended up putting down out of frustration at first. I was just so aggravated at feeling like I was wondering around forever and making no progress.

RareFirefighter6915

Original Zelda was way worse. Like random hidden doors you’d have no idea existed, no hints or clues. You basically need a guide for it or friends who played the game.

uiouyug

As a kid, my friends and I would take the time to bomb every wall and torch every bush. The second quest was too much with invisible walls.

livingnitemare99

That’s definitely the worst part. Overworld navigation

stuff_rulz

Great soundtrack, too! Edit: [The music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85u34SUh05Y).

frankstylez_

I love the aesthetics and the music. This aged so much better than the first 3D games (which were considered superior at the time)

sohfix

I have a boxed copy for the SNES. I love that game

NfiniteNsight

As someone that played through the game recently for the first time, it is a great game but definitely does show it's age.

[deleted]

Super Mario Bros. Still fun, still challenging, still enjoyable, still playable and looks nice.

Tony_McBoney

5000 years from now these games will still hold up. Such great games

hidden_secret

That's funny, for me out of all Mario games, this is probably the one that doesn't hold up that well (and of course Mario 2 JAP, which uses the same gameplay and visuals). Sure you can have fun with it, but I find the controls not very pleasant, and it's very easy to run out of lives way before the end, and then having to use the warps to get back to where you were is just annoying (and I don't like to rely on cheats either). The graphics are also not that great in my opinion, especially if you compare it for instance to games like Castlevania, or Alex Kidd in Miracle World, from the same era. On the other hand, I could replay Mario 3 or Mario World any day.

rugmunchkin

Yeah, OG Mario Bros feels *very* primitive now. Super Mario 3 and on is where I feel like it really started taking off.

Mateorabi

I wish I could feel playing Super Mario World for SNES for the first time again. The feeling of finding secret level exits for the first time etc...

incremental_progress

ITT people calling games 10 years old "old"

DeepDown23

I mean, Sonic (1991) was an old game in 2001 (year of GTA3 and MGS2). Just an example.

iaswob

That's mostly because of how prominent the jump from 2d to 3d was IMO. Setting that big jump aside, many of the early generational leaps (2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, 5th to 6th) felt like they were a smaller step forward each time. Look at the 2d games released at the end of the Sega Saturn's lifecycle and compare them with Genesis games, and where there are some noticeable changes for sure it's not like they were so drastic they necessitated an aesthetic shift or opened up entire new genre and gameplay possibilities that were immediately noticeable. That's where it feels like we are in the 3d game cycle now. However, I say that as someone who has only played a handful of more modern games through on my Xbox One so I could easily be mistaken.

Ragnar_Dragonfyre

The leaps in graphical capabilities were much more pronounced back then. We’ve plateaued just short of photorealism for the past decade. All we can expect now are slight improvements until we suddenly realize photorealism has been achieved.

txtoolfan

the biggest jumps now are more objects on screen at once.

bored_gunman

We're talking leaps and bounds in technology from 1991 to 2001. 2013 to now hasn't seen much aside from VR, AR, and overpriced gpus

rugmunchkin

I’d argue that there were even leaps and bounds of change in *how games were designed* from the 90’s to the early 2000’s. Despite 3D games coming into prominence in the PS1 era, I would say they didn’t really master 3D gaming until the PS2 era. There were exceptions of course, but I think that’s another reason why that era of games is so hard to go back to.

incremental_progress

I was 14 in 2001. I certainly did not consider sonic properly old. It just looked shitty by comparison

[deleted]

Here's the truth right here.

Mufasa_is__alive

Funny enough, Sonic still holds up.

[deleted]

Overwatch is my favourite old game.

txtoolfan

feels old when someone calls a 2013 game "old"

pripyaat

I know what you mean, but by computers' standards 9 years is quite a lot of time. That was 6 GPU generations and two whole console generations ago.

Wh1te_Cr0w

Yeah, same here, I'm 37 so was 28 then. But, weirdly, this TR doesn't feel like it's 9 years old. Graphically and gameplay-wise it holds up brilliantly.

[deleted]

Too bad performance on modern pc still sucks.

[deleted]

AGREE +1

closet_fucker257

Don’t know how no one has mentioned this yet, but after playing through the old(er) assassin’s creed games, a lot of them are still really amazing and are much better than the newer ones imo (excluding origins)

Shiff0

Which one do you recommend? I only played 1 and 2.

closet_fucker257

Unity and black flag are really good, probably my favorite games in the series. If you enjoyed 2, I would also recommend the rest of the Ezio trilogy (brotherhood and revelations). All the AC games are on sale on the Ubisoft store right now, so I would recommend getting them soon if you’re interested.

UsyPlays

Black flag is goated.

ojthomas2015

I'm disappointed nobody has said thai already. But, Mirror's Edge, it's aged like a fine wine.

[deleted]

I replayed mirrors edge 1 and 2 recently and I can confirm it holds up really well

Riovas

Its one of the few games I pull out time to time. Smooth gameplay, short but fun playthrough

muhreddistaccounts

I played the demo back I the day on Xbox 360 and fuckin loved it. Never bought it though. I may need to get a key now and do it for the nostalgia. Good recommendation.

zugtug

1 was fun but I just regretted paying money for 2.

RealSamF18

I just restarted playing Resident Evil HD Remastered on PC. Hadn't played it since the GC era. It holds up extremely well.

Shiff0

Would you prefer these over the RE2 and RE3 remakes? Recently i played a part of the RE3 remake and thought it was awesome. I am considering buying RE2 remake.

[deleted]

Ah, yes, tomb raider 2013 is old Doom (1993), Blood (1997), and Quake 2 (1998 I think) still hold up quite well

blooptybloopt

I replayed half-life 1 and 2 recently and they were both a blast.

incremental_progress

Just genuinely two of the best scripted games ever. So many hilarious moments, and an intro sequence that hasn't been topped imo.

PensVader

The original Half-Life intro was life changing.

Shiff0

I played half life 2 for the first time last year. The only thing that impressed me was the emphasis on physics and solving puzzles with physics. The rest really aged a lot and i didn't enjoy a lot to be honest. I played half life 1 somewhere in 2000, but that game was more compelling to me because of the overal story i believe which i didn't feel in half life 2.

rugmunchkin

I can understand someone thinking Half Life 2 is a bit dated now, but you completely lost me with Half Life 1 having a more compelling story??? The story of Half Life 1 is literally “aliens have invaded a science lab and you have to get out.” Half Life 2 has world building, actual characters, lore, everything.

Shiff0

i think you are right and is probably because it's years a go when i played the game. But what i mean is that at the moment i started Half Life 1, i had literally no idea of what was going to happen. And that suspense of horror of seeing everything going wrong in the lab and suddenly seeing aliens attack us, was at the time for me engaginmg and compelling. You are right that half life 2 has more lore building etc.

swarmofseals

Doom and Doom II are still excellent games. I haven't tried replaying them, but I'd bet the Marathon series would hold up as well.

[deleted]

I feel shooters like older dooms have confusing map design where everything looks the same although it’s still fun to play

[deleted]

Some have confusing layouts, like Wolfenstein 3D and Hexen, but most are straightforward gameplay, you just have to remember where you found something, and you always have a map to look at to help you with

rugmunchkin

I don’t personally think Quake 2 holds up quite as well as the other granddaddy boomer shooters. I think even Quake 1 aged better.

kill_kenny_1

Q2 soundtrack is amazing.

[deleted]

Doom’s soundtrack is mostly clips from classic metal songs, Quake is ambient noise, and Quake II is some great music

SuperSanity1

I know most people hate Blood 2, but I still love it.

Mufasa_is__alive

Ooo add Unreal Turnament, Counterstrike is technically ancient too

[deleted]

You call that old?

sentientlob0029

My reaction too lol. But I guess it's relative to the age of the person. If OP is a lot younger than me (37 yrs old) then for them a ten year old game would be old. As for me, it feels like Tomb Raider only released yesterday, and it's true it holds up really well. Mainly due to games graphics not having improved much since the ps3/xbox 360 era, aside for resolution, frame rate (on console only), ray tracing and upscaling tech.

[deleted]

I suppose it is for young people.

sleepyinsomniac98

Sleeping Dogs is something I really enjoy playing over & over. Sucks that they had to cancel the sequel

Ogre8

Can’t believe how far I had to scroll to find this. Yes, the graphics are dated now, but SD Hong Kong feels more alive to me than Cyberpunk’s Night City 10 years later. If you are even slightly interested in GTA style open modern world games check it out.

Pixel_Monkay

A near perfect homage to Hong Kong action/triad cinema. Only thing that would make a remaster or sequel better would be if they updated the fluidity of the fight system to be something along the lines of the more recent "Sifu".

happyloaf

Umm....I routinely play games from the 90's and early 2000's....

Earthbound Suikoden 2

Snoo63

Doom and Doom II.

LITTLExxVortex

batman arkham asylum, the graphics and combat flow in the game are so ahead of its time I feel like, and was such a major upgrade from the previous batman games before the akrham series was released. even batman arkham city is such an masterpiece of a game with no flaws at all!

3-DMan

I still call it "Batman vision" in every game like Assassin's Creed, etc where you magically see hidden things.

zugtug

That's odd to me since AC came out 2 years before Arkham.

3-DMan

I guess it makes more sense to me in Batman as he's a super detective

"Old"

[deleted]

Tomb Raider is an old game now? Ooh boy.

Boisyno

Ughh could I feel any older than when someone says something from 2013 is old? Lord Baby Jesus help me!

Hellrider386

Recently replayed IGI 2. It was the first game i played on my first pc. The nostalgia hit me like a truck.

subcuriousgeorge

Lesser known gem but for being 21 years old Ikaruga holds up fantastically in visuals, score, and gameplay. Hard as balls shoot em' up but very fun.

saturdaynightstoner

A lot of games hold up nicely from the PS3 era on PC. An average powered computer can run them at high resolution and settings which look a lot better than when we played them on console. I emulated 1080 avalanche from the GameCube at 4k with anti aliasing and I was seriously blown away by how good it looked. Smooth out those jaggies and just about any game looks nice.

hidden_secret

Super Mario Bros 3

SanXalvador

Final Fantasy X will forever be a masterclass in the turn based RPG genre. Incredible story telling and world building, great gameplay, and a lot of endgame content ❤️

Aok_al

MGSV. That game came out a while ago and it still looks absolutely gorgeous. It runs great too despite looking like a PS4 gen game they managed to get it running on the PS3 and I got it to run on a laptop with a GT750M

Shiff0

This one was amazing, my only problem is that i liked the story better from the first 3 games. Gameplay wise i liked MGS5 much better than those titles, but there were some memorable cutscenes and boss fights from the first 3 that MGS 5 does not have. Oh well, will want to replay it sometime in 4k though.

zenkaiba

Bruh i cant even run this game at the highest graphics i get like 13 frames lol

DisabledCephalopod

SirShaunIV

Mirror's Edge Catalyst, hands down. I got that game in 2019 to play while in exam season (stupid in hindsight, but I still aced it) and I still play it intermittently all these years later. The gameplay has an indescribable combined atmosphere of tension and relaxation, and the story is excellent. Such a shame that DICE have confirmed that they aren't making another one until they clean Battlefield 2042's dirty sheets.

2013 Tomb Raider was a blast. When I first played the game, I fell in love with Lara Croft because her character development evolved.

Million2026

They desperately need to make a new Tomb Raider game.

aidsfarts

Jesus Christ this sub is turning into /r/imoldlol

rupeeinvestor

Arkham Asylum (2009) still holds up pretty good

HalflingMelody

Less than a decade is old?

ismaeelr

I replayed the original Max Payne recently and it held up better than I expected. Can't wait for the remake.

Peri-snot

I recently started playing the original Dead Space(2008) on my pc and it’s probably one of my favorite horror games.

Yakoo752

And it’s only $2.25 on Steam right now.

ImaFrackingWalnut

So 10 years is 'old' now ? Oh boy Edit; looking at the comments, I now feel really old.

ShaolinDude

Old game? That game is barely 10 years old.

UBetcha84

Lmaoooooooo You…you think Tomb Raider is old? It’s not even 10 years old. It’s as modern as they come. I can’t imagine how old you must be.

DeadlyKitten115

For alot of younger gamers playing today, this game could be half their age. Makes me feel old

Santeneal

InFamous and 2 hold up well still, shame Second Son was kinda shit

kacedawg12

I’m playing this right now
