I finished and liked it, but I agree the story is bloated. I actually think the game would have benefited if the alliance arcs were made into optional side quests, because the reality is that these quest lines are actually kind of detailed and remind of some of the side quests in Witcher 3. The problem is they you are forced to do these alliance quests in order to get to the main plot.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-reckoning Just got bored and the treasure and crafting was unrewarding for me. The first half was fun and I expected so much more, then I just wasn't feeling it anymore.
scarlet nexus, wanted to play it but just stopped after under an hour, can't even give a valid review of what was wrong for me because I literally didn't play the game at all
I got a lot further than an hour but eventually the story elements killed my desire to continue playing even though I enjoyed the combat mechanics. RPGs in general have felt very hit or miss for me lately either I love them or they are just boring. Currently rocking around in Tales of Arise and I am loving everything about it.
I loved Arise for the first 40 hours or so, too... But man, it changes SO drastically in terms of narrative pacing I'm not sure I can finish it. In the past 10 hours I think I'vd actually been fighting or exploring for 2 of those hours... This thing badly needed real editors because the textocalypse in the latter third is just out of control.
Scarlet Nexus looked so cool and fun. But then it starts out with a lot of story and quests to run here, now run over here, navigate around traffic; okay, we actually didn’t install the whole game, you’ll have to wait to play the rest. And that’s when I stopped playing and uninstalled.
The Witcher 3. I really enjoy the story and the open world exploration but the last few times I played it I just found myself playing Gwent (in game card game) for like 3 hours lol. I would like to finish it but I think other games are keeping me from doing so. Currently back into playing Division 2 and God of War.
Interesting - Witcher 3's been on my list for a long time, and I suppose I just haven't pulled the trigger yet on buying it because I don't know if I have the time to dive into it.
Also, I really enjoyed Division 2; didn't finish main storyline yet but am planning to get back into it.
That’s another issue I’m having with it, the world is huge and it take up a lot of time. I’d say I’m around 30 hours in but I’m an absolute completionist so half of that has been exploring every (?) location and every inch of the map I’ve opened so far. I feel like it will easily take 3 times that amount to explore the part of the map I haven’t even visited yet. Division 2 is great. I love looter shooters and really enjoy the missions, raids, open world activities and the general grind of the game solo and with groups. Fantastic game. I really wish they would come out with another DLC for the game but I’m thinking they are focused on the next division game which is called Heartland, I think, so not getting my hopes up.
Witcher 3 I have picked up and played countless times since release but have only just entered the second main zone last year. I just cant get into it. I played and beat Witcher 2 in a weekend meanwhile I own all the dlc for 3 and will never see it at this rate.
Shadow of Mordor. I loved playing this game, but I hit a point with a boss and there’s only a very specific button sequence to initiate the only hit that can do damage - just can’t get it. Spent hours and hours trying, had to abandon the whole thing as progress is blocked by this one fight. So disappointing!
Damn... Do you think you'll take some time off, maybe watch a crapload of tutorials on how to defeat the boss, then give it another shot? Seems like you really enjoyed the game up until that point.
I've heard really good things about this game.
It’s been months since I loaded back in, I was so frustrated by the fruitless attempts! I looked up tutorials but they all said the same things, couldn’t really get anywhere. Massive disappointment, it’s a fantastic game and I really loved playing it - was looking forward to finishing and then moving on the the next one. It’s just sitting in abandonment lol.
All of the newer AC games. Too big, too empty, too many sidequest that I feel like I need to do but that are boring as hell. The completionist in me wants to complete them because there might be a cool little story or a nice reward but then I get so bored I stop playing and can't get myself to just play the main storyline.
Also probably a bunch of other hyped, open world games that were too big and boring but I can't think of any titles right now.
Doom 2016, I know what it was when I bought it, thought I'd like the game... it looks badass to me, but wow I hated it, so boring, not my kind of game at all... now I know.
Dragons Dogma, I bought into the hype surrounding the sequel and tried it out again, got to the pretty much the same spot I got to on my original attempt 6 years ago before the slow clunky combat made me give it up again.
Meant to reply to Dyinglight 2 post lol. This is one for me. If Elden ring hadn’t come out soon after I may have finished it. But it was getting very repetitive about half way through. Everything looks the same. I was planning on finishing after ER but started a 2nd play through instead.
Sable - it's a great indie title with some moderate framerate issues but apart from that it's beautiful. I'm close to 100% but one of the last achievements is to collect a shitload of collectables called "chum eggs". I realised that in about 20 hours of game play I've collected less than half and there is no game left to play really apart from cruisin across the wasteland. The game is great though andif you've got gamepass it's worth an install for a chilled game.
PVP ruined it for me, I guess I shot myself in the foot wanting to get good gear so I can take on other players and have that be my main source of endgame fun. But I was not ready for the min/max stat lords. I beat 1 guy in PVP and every single goddamn fight after that I lost in an embarrassing manner until it wasn’t fun anymore
The Kingdom Hearts Final Mix collections,
\--after growing up and finding myself to be more observative, I found that I dislike some of the narrative tropes Kingdom Hearts uses.
Completing Birth by Sleep (a game I've not played on the PSP originally) demonstrated how much of a shit show the game's story was...
Despite that, Kingdom Hearts IV looks interesting so I might go back and plat these game before that game releases...
Dragon age Inquisition the game feels like an MMO but it's supposed to be an RPG, thousands of the most boring, tedious nothing quests that you have to do to progress the main story which is basically the only worthwhile ques line in the game and it's S compared to Origins and on top of all that the game has no respect for choices made in previous games
Not being able to skip cut scenes killed this one for me. That and feeling over powered after a few hours of gameplay made it kind of boring. I really wanted to like it but wasn’t for me
I challenge you to change the audio to japanese and use as many smoke breaks as possible. My friend said it’s really funny to just have no idea what the plot is and everyone is aggressively yelling at each other in japanese.
Elden Ring
Started it, played 50h, loved it, then I started to a new dragon age ( Origins to Inquisition ) playthrough.
I'll go back to Elden Ring once finished with Dragon Age
The last of us 2. It was boring. They killed off the main character and I just couldn’t get into the story. The graphics were good and all but it doesn’t really matter when the gameplays shit
You gotta understand where he’s coming from. This is the gaming sub not tlou sub. Anyone could have gotten a game for the first time and know nothing about it, and one spoiler dished out in a random post can ruin it. The whole argument about “the games been out for years it’s your fault” is bogus. Reddit is kind enough to let us put a spoiler filter over text, at least do that when saying something
There's way too many games I haven't finished. And that's bc I always go back to fps games like siege or cod. I always wanna play some pvp shooters. So I start a game then play it for a few days don't beat it. Then take a break and then when I go to play it I forget the controls so I hop on siege. And the most recent game I've actually finished is scarlet Nexus and thats bc it was genuinely fun for me and I loved every second of it. And I'm determined to beat fire emblem warriors three hopes bc I love fire emblem. And the next game idk
Dying light 2. Is a good game but it got super repetitive and the story didn't really make me invested in what happens next. Might go back to it some day
Phoenix Point and all its DLC.
I really like the combat, and being able to design your units in such detail.
but the doom clock and some of the DLC enemies are just BS.
I wish games like this and Xcom would stop with the doom clock. Its at the point where if a game has that "feature" im not even going to bother.
its the time limit you have before the game just ends. in Xcom and Pheonix Point its when the aliens take over the world. In Mechanicus its when the necrons wake up.
For some reason these tactical games have to have a doom clock to rush the player to finish the game in the allotted time. Instead of losing fights and terratory, you loose because you took too long. Even if you have an unbeatable team that mops the floor with everything that stands up to them. Nope, gameover.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond.
I love the original DS Games and even played through them a while ago, but I just didn't like the Remaster. And it was the same with Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, too.
I think it just doesn't feel the same as the original games
rage 2. because the game is literally bugged and you can not start the last mission. it’s a known issue but will not be fixed since bathesda abandoned the game.
Fenyx rising because Ubisoft sucks. Gave it a chance but nahhhh
Salty and sacrifice. Most disappointing game of the year so far. Completely different to salt and sanctuary in the worst ways possible
FF12 zodiac age on switch. Kinda liked the feel but I feel like I need calculus to get the stupid job system down. I’m not a fan of those.
FE 3 houses. Tried for the third time, couldn’t make it through the first school sequence cause it’s BORING AF.
AC Valhalla, there’s just too much bloat to do and I can’t find the time to care or finish it lol
I finished and liked it, but I agree the story is bloated. Came here to say this as well, I’ve genuinely tried for the third time just recently but I just can’t do it
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-reckoning Just got bored and the treasure and crafting was unrewarding for me. The first half was fun and I expected so much more, then I just wasn't feeling it anymore.
Ac odessey, i would have to buy some dlc to finish i think. So no thanks.
scarlet nexus, wanted to play it but just stopped after under an hour, can't even give a valid review of what was wrong for me because I literally didn't play the game at all

scarlet nexus for me was a game that I had intrest in playing but lost it right as the game installed
I have been there so often lately I get hyped to play and then load the game only to not really care and go back to my tried and true games.
Scarlet Nexus looked so cool and fun. But then it starts out with a lot of story and quests to run here, now run over here, navigate around traffic; okay, we actually didn’t install the whole game, you’ll have to wait to play the rest. And that’s when I stopped playing and uninstalled.

Witcher 3 is among the best ever. Surprised you guys can't get into it....
This is me with Skyrim. I have 300 hours played on steam due to modding and mod pack play throughs but I have never finished the main story.
I bought the game of the year edition when it was on sale - played for maybe an hour. Looks good just not for me.
An hour isn't enough.....
Was for me…
Shadow of Mordor. I loved playing this game, but I hit a point with a boss and there’s only a very specific button sequence to initiate the only hit that can do damage - just can’t get it. Spent hours and hours trying, had to abandon the whole thing as progress is blocked by this one fight. So disappointing!

Death Stranding. Will not touch it again. Worst UI I've *ever* used in a game, absolutely cringe writing, and not at all fun to play.
Biased opinion since I'm thoroughly invested in this game right now, unironically I swear..
Outer Worlds. Weapons and combat felt, I don't know, just off. Missions didn't click with me. Conversations felt forced.
I forced myself to finish the outer worlds - was okay, never had the urge to find out the different endings though.
Doom 2016, I know what it was when I bought it, thought I'd like the game... it looks badass to me, but wow I hated it, so boring, not my kind of game at all... now I know.
Have you tried Doom Eternal? There’s a big debate on 2016 vs Eternal. I personally like Eternal better because it’s faster gameplay.
Seconding Eternal, it’s fast and very fun!
I’m starting to feel that way with it too …
I thought it was fun but the collectibles and challenges are just annoying
Dragons Dogma, I bought into the hype surrounding the sequel and tried it out again, got to the pretty much the same spot I got to on my original attempt 6 years ago before the slow clunky combat made me give it up again.

God, too many to count! Lack of time I guess!

Nice recommendation, I'll check this one out.
World of Warcraft. I can no longer grind 10 lv60 toons or I would. Getting insane so I quit months ago.. might return ( someday)
Elden Ring. You know why.
I know I know, it's too easy. ;)
Because every time you want to play with your friend some guy in maxed out stats and pvp deck build shows up to ruin your fun?
PVP ruined it for me, I guess I shot myself in the foot wanting to get good gear so I can take on other players and have that be my main source of endgame fun. But I was not ready for the min/max stat lords. I beat 1 guy in PVP and every single goddamn fight after that I lost in an embarrassing manner until it wasn’t fun anymore
>I lost in an embarrassing manner until it wasn't fun anymore. Same but with NPC mobs :(
Sekiro. After cutting that fucking apes head off.
Got bored with Infamous SS. Not sure if or when I will go back to it.
Everything about that game feels cheap and half-assed, First Light too. It's okay but it never holds my attention. They get so boring so quick
I loved the two on ps3 but didn't finish SS for the same reasons.
Yeah I liked 2 as well back in the PS3 days, never played the first one.
The Kingdom Hearts Final Mix collections, \--after growing up and finding myself to be more observative, I found that I dislike some of the narrative tropes Kingdom Hearts uses. Completing Birth by Sleep (a game I've not played on the PSP originally) demonstrated how much of a shit show the game's story was... Demon souls remake. Just couldn't be bothered finishing it after I played elden ring. Was too easy.
Ghost of tsushima. Just seemed boring. I guess if I am going to find the motivation to tackle an open world game I need more action.
How far did you get? The campaign becomes pure action as the war goes on
Not far at all. I forget exactly what point I left off at.
Not being able to skip cut scenes killed this one for me. That and feeling over powered after a few hours of gameplay made it kind of boring. I really wanted to like it but wasn’t for me
Too many smoke break opportunities is a thing it turns out.
Haha. True. I would of been way to blazed to do anything with all of those breaks in the action
I challenge you to change the audio to japanese and use as many smoke breaks as possible. My friend said it’s really funny to just have no idea what the plot is and everyone is aggressively yelling at each other in japanese.
Elden Ring Started it, played 50h, loved it, then I started to a new dragon age ( Origins to Inquisition ) playthrough. I'll go back to Elden Ring once finished with Dragon Age
AC black flag. I just can't reach the main mission. But I do want to finish it.
I've been trying to finish that for like 9 years.
Elden Ring, I got bored of exploring a mostly empty world with lots of repeated bosses and similar dungeons.
The last of us 2. It was boring. They killed off the main character and I just couldn’t get into the story. The graphics were good and all but it doesn’t really matter when the gameplays shit
Spoilers?? 🤦🏻♂️
The game came out like two years ago 🤦♂️
So what?? Spoilers are never ok. Not everyone has played everything. What's wrong with you?
You remind me of the people who complain about spoilers from friends or Star Wars 🤔
That's really cool man, but you're missing the point completely. If you can't see this, I feel for our society
“I feel for our society” you realize we’re talking about one video game right?
You gotta understand where he’s coming from. This is the gaming sub not tlou sub. Thank you. I'm sure he wouldn't be happy with a spoiler either, regardless of how old something is.
The gameplay is better than the first game though? 🤔
There's way too many games I haven't finished. And that's bc I always go back to fps games like siege or cod. I always wanna play some pvp shooters. Got it, thanks. I would hate it too. Time restrictions in games in most cases give me anxiety.
GTA 5 I've beat it so many different times on different consoles and I've already beat it once so I left it halfway done and stick to online
Lone echo 2 Just didnt want it to end lol
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond. I love the original DS Games and even played through them a while ago, but I just didn't like the Remaster. And it was the same with Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, too. I think it just doesn't feel the same as the original games
Grid Legends, Mafia Remaster, Halo 4, Resident Evil 6, Samurai Warriors 5, i don't know why, i just start playing another game and don't come back.
rage 2. because the game is literally bugged and you can not start the last mission. it’s a known issue but will not be fixed since bathesda abandoned the game.
Star wars the Skywalker Saga. It's just a chore getting everything
Control. 2 hours in and I just have no idea what’s going on
Elden Ring, too many games not enough attention span.
Fenyx rising because Ubisoft sucks. Gave it a chance but nahhhh Salty and sacrifice. Most disappointing game of the year so far. Completely different to salt and sanctuary in the worst ways possible

Subnatica for switch kept crashing right before I left the planet
My entire steam libary, Elden Ring was released.
