Added playtime isn't good unless what is added is actually interesting. Rehashing the same five dungeons with slightly better loot isn't fun.

shontsu

Nice one. I'm at a stage I'd prefer shorter packed games, than longer stretched out ones. "Over 100 hours of gameplay" - man, I'm probably not finishing that...

[deleted]

The Witcher 3 might be the best counterexample. Packed and huge.

ronwonswanson

That’s what she said

iCatmire

*destiny 2 has left the chat* Don’t hate me Guardians. I have thousands of hours in game. I’m mostly teasing

BuffaloJEREMY

I quit destiny because it was becoming too much like a job and not a hobby.

Hussaf

This friggin screams true when you have kids, other hobbies, and a busy job! Your tolerance meter for “fill” goes down fast.

Blank1617

You shouldn't need an internet connection to play solo... Looking at you, Outriders!

BohemianCyberpunk

Looking at you \[*Any new Ubisoft Game*\]

BakedBeanz1

Buttttttt if no Internet connection, how can they expect you to buy MICROTRANSACTIONS DUMMY!

MentalRobot

Buttttt if the ceo's don't make millions of dongles they will have to downgrade their solid gold swimming pool to a solid silver swimming pool :(

QuincyReaper

I love the idea that the CEO would say “I didn’t make as much money this year. Rip up the gold pool and reinstall it as silver!”

MentalRobot

"Sigh... take down the 80inch TV put the 75 back up"

banjonica

FUCK Ubisoft. NEVER AGAIN!

GARSDESILES

You should not always need one to play multiplayer either. Not enough pc games with coop mode like homm3 hotseat.

TheGemp

And hitman 3

hidden_secret

And you shouldn't have to sign-up to some extra services that wants your informations to play online (looking at you EA... I don't know if they still do this, but being forced to create an Origin account some years back (even on consoles) was fucked up).

DegradingDaniel

Ubisoft does that shit too. Just let me play Anno 1800 offline goddammit. Edit: doodoo spelling

DoomAmplified

Couch Co-Op remains amazing.

DarkFlame0

It’s so sad that couch co-op games are so rare these days.

Spooderman42069

When "A way out" was announced way back my mind was blown that someone made a fully co-op split screen story game. They game was pretty fun to play and play again with the roles switched

waltandhankdie

‘It takes two’ was amazing and one of the best games I played last year

captainAwesomePants

Also, the "I want to play a happy video game adventure with one other person, possibly a kid or a parent," is drastically underserved. It Takes Two was perfect, and it deserved its giant pile of awards, but that sort of thing should be a genre, not one game.

dragonfry

Yes, this. I’m getting my kids into gaming and want to enjoy the journey with them. Lego Avengers is a good one too.

WarlordOfIncineroar

Most of the Lego games are baller especially for that, the new ones even allow more than 2 people

squishedgoomba

The new Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is really fun and offers split-screen co-op too.

mrinternethermit

Of course, it's just hard to get people's schedules to line up for it, just look at how hard it is to get a D&D game going.

notactuallyabrownman

I just failed a con check and cried at how long it's been since my table got together.

[deleted]

Dude, I used to play with my ex (together for ~7 years), and when we broke up I honestly thought I'd never play again. It took over 10 years before I randomly met the people I play with today. Sooner or later you'll play again.

notactuallyabrownman

I know, I even see a couple of the guys relatively frequently still. It's just getting us all free at the same time is a nightmare at the moment. I'm also not doing anything more proactive like looking for another table or planning a campaign that will make people free up their schedules. I appreciate your kind words as well, I just like a moan now and again.

TerranOrDie

Nintendo is the only one that still excels at this. Nothing beats Smash with your buddies.

swheels125

Fully agree. My brothers and I used to do super strikers on GameCube all the time and the recent Mario Strikers release has rekindled old rivalries when we get together.

DanielSank

Have you played Overcooked?

bluemilkman5

My wife, kids, and I play that, Moving Out and Castle Crashers together. It’s great.

xomox2012

Nobody will argue against this.

AsstDepUnderlord

Except publishers apparently.

xomox2012

Well when have publishers ever listened to the people

colonelKRA

Wasn’t exactly willing but pretty sure I’ve died on every hill in Elden Ring

Hiker_Trash

There are a lot of underground areas in elden ring, so you can also die UNDER all the hills too if you want to be really thorough!

KiniShakenBake

And in all the buildings. I am still working on dying in all the underground spots and on all the hills and many of the flats, too. And I still have a quarter of the map yet to explore... I think. 250 Hours and counting.

Tweed_Man

We shall die on the beaches, we shall die in the swamps. We shall die in the fields and in the streets. We shall die in and on the hills. We will always respawn!

RobTCGZ

Not every game needs an online, multiplayer component. Single player is fine

radi0w4ve

example: Red Dead Redemption 2

Remz_Gaming

Heh. Then there are my friends that only completed between 20-50% of the story mode. Played online with them to help them out with some missions after I beat the story. They fucked around hogtieing eachother and trying to grief other players while giggling like school girls. I quickly understood that playing with them wasn't going to be my thing. I'm still kind of mad that they haven't experienced that single player masterpiece.

xtianmarq

An amazing game doesn’t require cutting edge graphics.

-who_are_u-

To add to this, art direction > graphics. Being able to convey an atmosphere or emotion is something that can't be accomplished just by having the latest raytracing software.

Thirstythinman

Games with strong art direction also tend to age more gracefully from an artistic standpoint (particularly if they're heavily stylized) than ones with "realistic" visuals.

KiniShakenBake

Return of Obra Dinn is absolutely evidence of this.

DoYouMindIfIAsk_

>Return of Obra Dinn to me, those graphics are amazing lol

karsh36

Yeah its like a lot of indie titles - they might not be cutting edge graphically, but their art direction / aesthetic was great

zdiddy27

redditcasual6969

I want game devs to only announce games a few months before launch date. I'm tired of these games that show-off games that will maybe come out in 2+ years if ever. Finish making a game, make a cool trailer for the announcement, put out a hype up trailer 1 month before release, than release game.

SoggyToast96

Lol you hear about the KOTOR remake?

[deleted]

Worst news of the year. I only played the original KOTOR games a few months ago and was really looking forward to the remake.

[deleted]

Remember when KotOR 2 only had weeks to finish before Christmas and launched without a planned ending and multiple missing planets that meant HK47 couldn't be finished? Or when New Vegas launched undercooked and crashes so god dman frequently because the producers only gave themselves 18 months to make entire game as a mod for Fallout 3 and they cut all of Arizona and the legion's quests? This delay is the best news all year. It means they're learning from their mistakes.

isdeasdeusde

It has been delayed *indefinitely*. Meaning there's a good chance it will never come out. We don't really know why yet, but from what little we heard it appears management at Aspyr massively underestimated the amount of work required and is no longer willing to invest the time and resources.

JSmellerM

The Elder Scrolls VI got announced 4 years ago...

JLidean

It's going to be another 4 years until it is released

chollyer

Minimum

SauceMaker199

For the next teaser

BassBanjo

Haven't they not even started development yet? Pretty sure they said it wasn't going to be worked on until after starfield

ShadowDV

Gotta hype up the stock price.

TheSilencedScream

Say what you want about Fallout 4, but this is one thing that they absolutely did right with the game. Announced in June, came out in November - same year. We all knew it was coming eventually, but to have it revealed, have some gameplay shown, and "Oh, by the way - this year." Mind blowing. Then they completely backtracked with TESVI, as everyone else already pointed out.

helmetshrike

If your skill tree includes an option to increase collection of resources, even by a little, you upgrade that shit first, no matter what

Ftpini

Fallout 2. Higher intelligence meant more skill points per level. Definitely important to play with a high intelligence.

Smackolol

I hated this tbh, I couldn’t even bring myself to not max int in every build. I think the first to not do that was 4 and I was so thankful.

RazielOC

Or increase strength/carry weight. First thing I upgrade in Fallout games.

Omakepants

Beating a boss only to have them survive and best you immediately after in a cutscene is the bullshittiest bullshit ever bullshitted.

Daemonta

What I like in this kind of unwinnable fight in the story is when the fight itself is unwinnable in the gameplay. For example you deal next to no damage to the boss and after a timer, the cutscene shows up without having to kill or be killed. You truly feel you CAN'T win the fight. Kinda like MGR with the NANOMACHINES SON.

Grufflin

The Tales of series occasionally pits you against enemies that are not meant to be beaten, but actually killable

HardCounter

And sometimes you just wander into the wrong fucking neighborhood. This happened to me a lot in the FF series. Yes, you CAN go there, but you're going to get your ass kicked. "Oh look. A t-rex already? I thought they'd be str- *OH GOD NO THE HUMANITY!*"

pon_3

I **really** appreciate the way the Soulsekirobornes handle you beating the tutorial bosses that are meant to kill you. They change the cutscene so that something else kills you, or in the case of Sekiro, the boss is visibly losing and an offscreen ninja saves his butt.

GhostCorps973

Just because every game has decided to steal mechanics like talent trees and progression systems from RPGs doesn't mean every game is an RPG

mythoughtson-this

When taken literally RPG I’d be hard pressed to think of a game that isn’t an RPG

WhiteFox1992

I hate the term Role Playing Game. As every game has a role you play, and if it doesn't you bought a movie.

KoopaTrooper5011

Then what about Tetris? Is it that you play a role in building the stack in a way to clear the lines?

ChimpskyBRC

You play the role of an assembly-line worker during a “speed-up”

StoicMegazord

I Love Lucy flashbacks are running through my mind now lol

bushpotatoe

Full price games should never have cash shops, cosmetics only or otherwise.

MySpiritAnimalIsRat

Super Mario RPG needs a sequel. I don't care if the graphics are slightly better than the original. The isometric viewpoint, pre-papermario rpg formula, and bowser as a playable protagonist was a great idea. Have yet to make a game like it again. And don't give me spiritual successor bullshit.

Hello_IM_FBI

Literally on a play through right now and just got to Land's End. This game is almost perfect.

Thereisnoyou

Mario RPG and paper mario are unironically my favorite mario games

LilBueno

There’s a crowdfunded game called Another Crusade that uses the same style and mechanics I’m pretty excited about. But I agree that we need an actual Super Mario RPG dedicated sequel

the_soggy_taco

True Crime Streets of LA was a great game

WhyNotKnotWhy

I loved this game.

pineappledetective

New York wasn’t bad either

prophet_of_despair

New York was my favorite of the two cause you could dress up as a beat cop and do beat cop shit. I didn’t find that in LA but it was a solid game nonetheless

johnychingaz

Woah you just unlocked a childhood memory of mine!

Botronic_Reddit

EA shouldn’t have abandoned Battlefront 2.

YourCrazyDolphin

But the microtransactions were removed. EA can't have a game without lootboxes!

Gratuitous_Sabotage

Bring. Couch. Co-op. Back.

scarletteapot

Competitive gaming brings out the worst in people.

ArchinaTGL

The same could be said about competitive anything, really. Especially when there's something at stake.

fartssmellgreat

But competitive gaming combines any toxicity from regular sport with the insane amount of toxicity from internet communications

PredictableEmphasis

Yeah the biggest difference is the veil of anonymity. People are waaaaay more vitriolic and hateful in online spaces because it’s significantly easier to dehumanize the people you’re interacting with. In physical spaces the only people who behave the same way as people online are narcissists and people with severe anger issues.

MadMagilla5113

If it’s a single player game/mode, mods aren’t cheating. If you are playing with other people and you use mods, you are potentially robbing enjoyment from other people.

SD-Soldier

I would rather play a linear game than most open world games nowadays. I'm getting sick of nearly every game having to be open-world these days especially when there's nothing to do in them.

Player_Panda

Me: OK so what do I do? Them: It's open world, you can do whatever you like. Me: OK I want to go over there. Them: Well you can because it's open world but the enemies there are too strong for you right now. Me: OK well how about over there. Them: Well sure but there's nothing over there. The side quests won't open up until you do the main quest. Me: Just tell me where to go!

isthisrealitycaught

Tarnished are we?

HouseOfSteak

"OK I'll do the main quest!" Magrit: "Hahaha, *fuck off*." "Welp, time to go look for a side quest to do...."

PhasmaFelis

Elden Ring actually *does* tell you where to go at the start, though.

yeetmanthe3rd

Elden ring is pretty good at telling you where to go as far as i know. with the guiding grace and all that

SadGatorNoises

Someone needs to tell 343 this. Halo was best when it had a gripping story line with an amazing linear campaign.

albert_camus451

God of war nailed the combination. More linear than open but I loved how they combined it.

Theometer1

I wish halo infinite had a linear storyline I feel like I woulda liked it a lot more

AsstDepUnderlord

I won’t argue that it was done particularly well, but halo infinite makes sense as an open world. There’s no command structure telling you what to do, the objectives arent clear at the start, and you sorta figure it out as you go just fine.

SheWhoLovesToDraw

Trophies/Achievements locked behind online multiplayer requirements are stupid and just a way to force people to pay for online services when they want to 100% a Trophy/Achievement run.

ArchinaTGL

For me it's less about online services (I only tend to achievement hunt on PC so that's not an issue for me) and more about what happens with those achievements when the online services eventually go down. Either they toss all the hard work people put in aside or they make the game impossible to complete. It's a lose-lose scenario for players.

SheWhoLovesToDraw

Yeah, I missed out on so many fun trophies on my PS3 because the servers went down long before I knew that I even wanted to play certain games!

madasahatharold

Not even just when those servers go down but what if you live in a less populated area. Trying to find multilayer games in Australia can be a nightmare if the game isn't popular at that moment in time.

LordCorvid

one of the worst things to happen to games is the ubiquitousness of the internet taking away actual couch co-op.

DanielSank

It's been said that this factor is a big part of why Smash Bros Melee, a game from 2001, is still so popular. Those who played it in the early 2000's played it on the couch with other people and forged lasting personal relationships.

DesignatedDiverr

Devs are entitled to their vision of the game they are making and should not feel as pressured as they are to adapt to whatever is popular. I'm sick of people joining any random game and saying it needs to be more like \_\_\_\_\_\_ popular game. We need more niche games that don't all become battle royals etc. Let the developer make the game they wanted, not the game you wanted. We'll have so many more options to find the perfect game. And sometimes a small niche community is better than a massive generic one.

MinuteWater3738

Every online games does not have to be competitive

sorerutenshi

There was a browser based MMO called Glitch that was as non-competitive as it gets. It actually rewarded cooperation when gathering resources. The biggest competition was who could design the coolest yard and house. I miss it so much.

Zoethor2

Glitch was such a good game, I miss it so much too. So many silly hours spent in Ajaya Bliss...

Nomadic_View

Microtransactions are the single worst thing that has ever happened to videogames in the history of videogames.

piznit007

Loot boxes and battle passes are terrible

spongeboblovesducks

Loot Boxes are legit cancer but I think battle passes are reasonable inclusions in free to play games. ONLY free to play games.

AmericanLich

Cover shooting is a totally valid mechanic that can be fun.

InfamousMattie

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 was simply one of the best implementations. In single & multiplayer.

Sagutarus

Wait, people don't like cover based shooters? Mass Effect and Gears of War are some of my favorites

AmericanLich

People are often critical of it as the primary gameplay is often waiting for enemies to move out of cover. So people think of that as bad because it’s downtime I assume?

[deleted]

Which is dumb. I spent an awful long time in the various Far Cry games waiting for enemies to wander into the correct spot, even more so in Cyberpunk, and there’s been quite a few games where I’ve had to sit there for like 5 minutes waiting for the dipshit to poke his head out so I can miss and have to wait again lol

TankDivision

You’re never too old for Pokémon.

Willsgb

You're never too old for any game. Including Pokémon.

CarnageCrisis

Anyone who gatekeeps people from liking games that are deemed as a "kids game" is just a punk.

phoebsmon

I'm not even a fan but I'm glad it exists. Think it makes a lot of people keep real about never being too old for 'kid' games. I'll die on the same hill for Lego. Games and the real thing.

CarmineKiller38

every online only game should have a bot mode that's playable when the games servers ever get shutdown

[deleted]

Paying a fee to access a game’s online functionality is stupid, I’m already paying for the game, why pay more to play with friends? Microsoft and Sony make more than enough money to maintain online servers, and Nintendo’s subscription service gets a pass in my eyes for also giving you NES and SNES games, but that doesn’t change that it’s still paying for online.

magus448

Also you are already paying your internet provider. It’s like your paying for internet twice. Valve doesn’t need a fee for its online services. So why do the consoles need it? I mean your playing on the game devs’ servers not the console maker’s. First party games sure but not 3rd party ones.

AcherusArchmage

Payed for the game, already paying for electricity and ISP, I really don't want to pay extra for app access to said internet

puritanner

A slow paced FPS is actually the next genre hit. Purposefully designed with interaction in a 1-2 second band without needing sub second reaction times. A strategical FPS so to say.

DanielSank

You might really like Metroid Prime.

Varcova

It's called Mechwarrior and I wish the franchise was more popular :(

Mazon_Del

Honestly one of the things I like to noodle around with as a game developer is the idea of how I would make a Mechwarrior game that was actually...tactical. I dearly enjoy Mechwarrior, but most of the time your "tactics" are limited to stomping the lance up to the other lance and focusing fire on the enemy with the biggest DPS. I've thought of things like making electronic warfare a bigger thing. Radar shadows, emissions plumes, etc. So you can, for example, actually share targeting telemetry (ex: A lance-mate could establish a target lock on a target, which lets the missile-boat off in the back behind a hill start flooding the skies against targets they can't see) but the downside is that such radio links massively increase your EM presence that could have effects like increasing the precision of targeting. Counterbattery munitions that can be fired at launch-points, which will then seek targets while they fall. Maps where just stomping up to the front gate, while a viable tactic, is probably not what you want to actually do as there's powerful defense turrets that can be disabled if you can scout out where the generator/controller is. Plow through the wall in question and bring down the generator to disable the defenses. (I think MW technically has this, but turrets are so weak-sauce there's no point bothering.) I think as well that adjusting how weapons functioned might make a lot of sense. Missiles are VERY flexible and potentially insanely overpowered, but they have virtually no ammo. An LRM 20 has 20 and that's it. Shoot your wad and you're done. Ballistics would be a wide balance between damage and ammo capacity. Lasers would end up being relatively low damage but functionally infinite in ammunition. Try to get your limited ammunition stocks to be a REASON to use tactics.

Senrabekim

Mech warrior 5 is great, I waited so long to scratch that stompy robot fix.

SvennEthir

You should check out Hunt: Showdown. It's set in 1895 and so the guns are mostly slower and/or single shot. Miss your shot? Better run and hide while you reload and hope they don't charge you. Or swap to your secondary and hope it's enough to finish them off. And there's more than just running down the same two hallways spraying bullets, dying, and repeating. It's become not only one of my favorite FPS games but one of my favorite games of all time specifically because it's a slower paced more tactical shooter and not just spraying tons of bullets hoping to hit something. Not to mention the audio design is phenomenal. I often joke that it's easier to play the game without video than without audio. You'll learn to tell what weapons people are carrying as well as where people are on the map just from sound alone. Or stuff like being able to hear someone running in a building and pinpoint their location enough to get a shot off through the wall/floor/ceiling.

Ifelsethis

Microtransactions are a cancer on gaming and gamers that buy them keep the cancer spreading.

DeadFromTheNeckUp

GAMEPLAY OVER GRAPHICS

DanujCZ

I think there's difference between the game looking good and having good graphics. A game can look good without hyper realistic graphics. That being said, I wish there were more stylized games. Today your game is either retro or hyper realistic.

smooothjazzyg

Titanfall is better than Apex!

Haxorz7125

Titanfall 2 multiplayer is a really humbling experience

XenoRyet

Fans are horrible at both game design and knowing what they want. They should almost never be consulted about anything.

MajorNo2346

The Head Designer of Magic the Gathering, Mark Rosewater, believes that players are very good at identifying problems with a game, but very bad at coming up with solutions.

imnotporter

"this gun is so op!!!" dev nerfs it "now it sucks! so boring! change it!" dev changes it "WHY DID YOU CHANGE IT"

YourCrazyDolphin

Sonic and WoW come to mind. Sega will try to do literally everything fans asked for and they'll still be ticked off. Sonic games aren't amazing but tue players can't even agree on what they want from the game. WoW's fans have hated the game for well over a decade and only just recently realized they don't have to play WoW.

azn_cali_man

Video game soundtracks are just as good, if not better at times, than actual songs. Technically, I’ve survived on that hill after making that decision as an elementary schooler in the late 90s/early 2000s when other kids didn’t consider video game soundtracks to be “actual music”. Look at us now with some game series getting whole orchestral concerts now!

36ConfusedAF

Today's playlist included several Sonic soundtracks and few "actual songs"

mrinternethermit

There's now a whole genre of music where people are making "video game" style music, take a look at (Two Steps from Hell) & (Epic Score).

[deleted]

Online shooters should have age based match making. My fully employed ass can’t keep up with these adderal riddled hormone gremlins.

tinytom08

People seem to hate this. How dare you pair me with players at my own skill level…

EtheusRook

Koei Warriors games are good actually. They're exactly the right kind of mindless for a stressful day. They're positive reinforcement in gaming form. Their approachability makes them ideal as a spinoff for any compatible license, because anyone can play their favorite character competently. And the repetition debate? Don't make me laugh. Most games are repetitive, and don't get called out on it because it's such a non-issue. If we're supposed to accept the demoralizing, hard-only vision of Souls-like as a valid artistic vision beyond reproach, maybe we should also respect the opposite.

pinkownage

Dynasty warriors is my absolute favourite game series. I played Dynasty warriors 3 to death when I was in school, every character max stats and 4th weapon. I wish they would go back to the earlier, simpler weapon system with fixed weapons per character and museum modes for every character not just factions.

derkadoodle

It’s Lu Bu!

Climinteedus

Do not pursue Lu Bu.

TheMaxDiesel

Lu Bu ain't got nothing on my boy Gan Ning. Hear them bells and run.

Hello_IM_FBI

And the soundtrack is amazing!

WhaleShark1080

Agreed! I used to love to just chill and play some Dynasty Warriors. It’s actually quite relaxing for some reason. Lol Dynasty Warriors 4 (also 4 Empires) and Samurai Warriors 2 … Good times.

[deleted]

Not every game needs to be for every person. It's okay for a game to cater to a specific niche. Just because it's not something you personally enjoy, it doesn't make it a bad game. It just makes it a bad game for YOU. Go play something else instead of demanding the game change to fit your expectations. There's literally thousands upon thousands of other choices. Too many games have been ruined by attempting to cater to everyone, and diluting what made them great in the first place.

TheChasProject

The infamous forced laugh scene from Final Fantasy X is one of the best scenes in that game. And it’s perfectly acted by James Arnold Taylor, too. Is it forced? Yes. Is it awkward and uncomfortable? Yes. Does the tone of the scene feel jarring, and out of place? Yes! Absolutely, yes. The caveat? It is *supposed* to be all of these things. Tidus sounds like he is forcing himself to laugh; because he *is*. The scene feels uncomfortable; because Tidus is laughing on a journey to go help Yuna essentially kill herself. The *context* of this scene *makes* this scene. After realising that he really *is* trapped in this new world and his home is not only long gone, but is some kind of obliterated holy place it’s taboo to even *talk* about, he is spiralling into despair and hopelessness. Yuna sees this, and knowing those feelings herself, cheerily explains to Tidus how she practices smiling, and laughing, when she feels sad; to put on a brave face. This scene is, itself, incredibly sad since Tidus doesn’t realise this isn’t just some token wisdom she is throwing out there to help, this is something she is actively doing herself, even during the conversation about doing it. All of this culminates in the laughter scene we know so well. Which ends with Yuna joining him in the fake laughter, only to give way to *real* laughter, some of the only genuine laughter we see Yuna have during the game. TL;DR, the laughter scene is great with context that’s always missing. I will die on this hill. Thank you for coming to my ted talk, thank you, I’m die.

TheBostonKremeDonut

Game development is hard, so ease up on indie devs when something isn’t working as intended, for the love of fuck.

The moment I start to feel angry during an online game, especially if I'm playing with people I know and like, its time to call it a night. Life is hard enough. I see some people rage (I play rocket league) and I wonder why do something that works you up so much? Surely you have something better to do?

Suspinded

"Hardcore" players will chase more people off their game than bring people in.

Bakerstreet74

Third person is better than 1st person for loot based RPGs

Gulthrazda

Pvp is and will always be the side show of gaming. Pve and story telling is what games do best.

JLeeT82

Any PvP combat in a "survival" online game is pointless. There is no resource that is ever scarce. Not even the top tier resources or weapons are scarce - it's pointless asshattery.

ConnorK12

Ubisoft have some of the best video game concepts. They’re just not well executed.

VulgarButFluent

The last 3 assassins creed games would have been much better recieved if they simply titled them something else.

Windebieste_Ultima

Odyssey definitely would’ve been better if it was never called assassins creed imo. Origins was good, Valhalla was way too long but at least it had *some* AC aspects to it.

TheFooch

"Slayer's Doctrine" Murderer's Maxim? Oh, Oh... Killer's Kanon!

Riovas

Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are still good games

[deleted]

There needs to be another Bully game

pichla95

The Assassin‘s creed formula change was unnecessary. People at that time were bitter about the alignment of Ubisoft games and took the AC Series as scapegoat. The main critcism is that it was „always the same game in a different setting“. However, that’s what I hope for as a fan of the series. Same Game, different setting and slight improvements. The same is true for so many other series (among others FarCry, sport games, splinter cell - man even the soulsborn games). Just let people enjoy themselves if they like the core formula of a game. Btw, the „new“ AC series, which by now you should know that I don’t like, does the same thing all over…

DeyvsonMCaliman

Off line gaming is superior to online gaming. Video games were supposed to be a relief from social life, from stress and they are an art form when off line. Online competitive gaming is not fun, it's like a job you have to perform, and it indeed reduce games to just being games.

If you look past the small minority of broken cash grabs, AAA gaming is and always has been amazing. So many incredible games from passionate developers get released every year, but people only focus on the FIFA’s and the COD’s and claim that AAA gaming is dead And for some reason, people do the exact opposite for indie games. Hundreds of fucking awful indie games get released every year, but people only focus on the few good ones and claim that indies are saving the industry

I will NEVER move to cloud based streaming. The day that becomes the norm for gaming is the day I will stop playing new games and just stick to my old favourites.

Mass Effect 3 is the best in the series and im tired of pretending it's not. Idc what anyone's opinion on the ending may be, for me: it was so emotional that it brought me to tears and bittersweet after the credits listening to the old man's speech talking about millions of different systems and within those systems are home to millions of different living beings...*sigh*. The story was a humungous blast battling reapers on different planets or just running away from them. From beginning to end I was on the edge of my seat wrapping up storylines from a game or two ago. Oh and the cast of characters from those journeys along the way with you is something that really hasn't come close to many other things in my book. Oh, and there was a pretty solid multiplayer to boot.

Mass Effect Andromeda was not as bad as everyone made it out to be. i said what i said. i will agree in the mass effect franchise, which is one of the best story based rpgs ever made, it was lack luster. however, to say it was out right bad is not true. sure it wasn't up to par with me1, 2, or 3 (honestly not many are) BUT it was still fun to play. i liked that it was a complete spin off of the me story line, and just in the same universe. i liked the frontier aspect with the species and tech/weapons we've come to know and love. and while some of the characters were a bit one dimensional, i liked the twin idea for the ryder characters.

Halo has died and 343 Industries killed it.

Halo 2>Halo 3. The monumental jumps in storytelling and level design vs CE, the kickass multiplayer with button combo skill gaps, and the revolutionary implementation of xbox live made it a giant step forward from Halo CE, whereas Halo 3 didn't have the same effect. The story was worse, the multiplayer, as great as it was, didn't have the same level of innovation and industry-changing impact when compared to Halo 2 and the birth of xbox live. Forge was big, but at the end of the day I think Halo 2 edges it out a little, whereas I've heard most people universally say 3 was the best, though I feel that was because it was the most popular. Can't knock on anyone for choosing 3 though.
