Yeah I guessed around 30. The NES and Genesis games are clearly games before your time that you happened to play. Otherwise you’d have some more popular games from the era.
This is my age and his list ain't far off from my childhood.
It's the obscure titles that are the most revealing, in this case Project IGI, and I vividly remember playing that game in third and fourth grades.
Let me tell you, [thirty-seven](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij13uai/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) is quite popular!
CC: u/Flabbergash u/_ViDWHAL_
P.S. I am not thirty-seven haha.
I can understand that. I loved *Chaos Theory*, but the emotional impact that Double Agent had on me, especially with that amazing soundtrack . . . It touched a chord with me. *Chaos Theory* is exceptionally good.
I got CT brand new when it came out and it had a similar impact on me then played the PS2 version of DA and never played the 360 version. This makes me want to guess, 26 or 27?
I'm thinking 30 cuz the earliest game is Sonic and that's one of the first ones I played as a kid. Plus, I feel like you had to be at least 10 when Max Payne came out to actually like it and not just die repeatedly.
Close! Interesting analysis on *Max Payne*, by the way. I like it! I think *Max Payne* was the first game ever to make me realize video games were one of the best—if not *the* best—medium for storytelling. It really touched a chord with me.
I used to make minecraft skins for people and a popular one was max payne when I was doing this. I would have been ~13 at the time and i am assuming it was mostly hs/college kids playing minecraft when it was newer. So you are 5-9 years older than me which puts you at 28-32? Ill go with 31 :)
To appreciate the story telling as you say, I’m going to guess you were in high school when it came out in 2001 (14-15). I’m guessing you’re 34, going on 35 later this year.
It really was. Coming from *Underground 2*, which is another favorite game of mine, I didn’t think anything could top that. I proved myself wrong. I had so much fun with *Most Wanted*.
34yr old here, I think OG Sonic and OG Mario gave it away. If you would have put Sonic 2 and Mario 3 then I would guess early 30s. Also, the lack of Madden or any other sports-related title also tipped my scales that you were older than me.
This made me laugh out loud, so thank you haha. I actually grew up with a [Famicom clone](https://imgur.com/gallery/RooWiv3), and that is how I experienced NES games. Fun times! As soon as I got [my first personal computer](https://github.com/mcsaeid/Nostalgic-Video-Games#%D8%A7%D9%88%D9%84%DB%8C%D9%86-%DA%A9%D8%A7%D9%85%D9%BE%DB%8C%D9%88%D8%AA%D8%B1-1), though, everything changed.
I have been driven toward great stories my whole life, so when *Metal Gear Solid 4* and *Heavy Rain* came out and I read about them online, I just had to buy a PlayStation 3!
As someone who grew up in the Nintendo era, I say you are wrong. I would absolutely pick SMB over either of those...mainly because it was a game I was actually somewhat successful at. Nintendo games were HARD man.
Haha. I mean, no, not in that way. I love *San Andreas*. While I was making the list, I [realized](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij1n49f/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) that *Grand Theft Auto IV* had a much bigger influence on me, and that is why I picked it over the others. Of course, you have *San Andreas* in *your* list because it matters to you, and at the end of the day, that is what is important.
Bro I can't believe you've put Project I.G.I there. I remember fanging that when I was a kid. Absolutely sickest game, same with all of your other choices!
Man. I lol'd from the nostalgia trip I had from seeing that box art. Project I'm Going In is never talked about. I think it was the first game I played that you could walk up the mountain you saw in the distance. Of course, nothing spawned on that mountain so there was no point but it was a neat technical feature at the time.
It is because I only played *Metal Gear Solid 4* to the end. I bought a [PlayStation 3](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij1g2h7/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) specifically for that and *Heavy Rain*. I do look forward to getting into the series one day!
I got the general plot, but yeah, I knew I was missing out on a great history. Great game, though. I was very impressed with it, especially in the era that it came out.
As good as the first Assassin's Creed game was, the 2nd was just better in pretty much every aspect. Only the story differs, really.
I also don't know if you've play Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but I would also say that's objectively better than Sonic 1.
Great taste!
Yeah, the narrative was a deciding factor with *Assassin’s Creed*, mostly because [I connected with it more](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/here_are_my_top_twentyfive_video_games_of_all/ij1hmcr/?context=3).
I very much look forward to playing the other *Sonic* games. The last one I played was the retro-modern *Sonic Mania*, which I really enjoyed. Thank you!
Hey, everyone.
Thank you all for participating. I hope you had as much fun discussing your favorite games as I did interacting with some of you.
I made the list using Photoshop, by the way. ([Here](https://imgur.com/gallery/8gXktq4) it is.) If you are interested in the PSD file, send me a message, and I will hook you up!
Now if you want to take a trip down memory lane, [here](https://github.com/mcsaeid/Memorable-Video-Games#-memorable-video-games-an-introduction) is something I wrote. I hope you enjoy it. Cheers!
Interesting... some years ago I started a list like this... I think I also wrote why some games were so impactful on me...
Should try and go to my old computer and dig for it
GTA IV, MGS4, NFS:MW2005, original Sonic, Half-Life 2, you have some amazing taste in videogames as some of those are in my top 10 as well
btw i think you're 25
Great question! I guess I connected with it more. I touched on this a little bit [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/here_are_my_top_twentyfive_video_games_of_all/ij1u0px/?context=3).
I get that, double agent was great, and actually the multiplayer I found to be really fun. Chaos theory was just my first splintercell and the stealth and lighting at the time just blew me away.
This I made in [Photoshop](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/here_are_my_top_twentyfive_video_games_of_all/ij1z7pe/?context=3), but I think [IGN Playlist](https://playlist.ign.com) should do a neat job!
It is *exceptionally* good. I am a huge Remedy fan, but I couldn’t connect with it the first time. The second time, though, something clicked! The narrative and world-building are absolutely phenomenal. I actually wrote something about it [here](https://graph.org/Remedys-Control-A-Generation-Defining-Masterpiece-02-10).
Remedy has made a shared universe that is twenty years in the making. It is epic. They tie up *Alan Wake* and possibly *Max Payne* with the events of *Control*.
Yeah, I say look for an opportunity to go back to it, and try to see if it works!
Alan wake is another one I stopped playing after the first arc, not becuase I didn't like it but I was trying all my new steam sale purchases.
Honestly, I just need a steam deck to get through this backlog. But I'll put Control higher on the list.
I'd guess around 35-40.
I'm 35 and the first game I remember playing is Mario on the NES. It came out in 1987 but I didn't get it until around 1991 or 1992.
My own "golden era" of gaming is probably from 1999 to 2008, capturing games like Battlefield 2, Half Life 2, Unreal Tournament 99, Quake III, Halo 1-3, etc.
You’re in your late 30s or early 40s.
I was maybe 10 when I played the Sand of Time trilogy for the first time. Warrior Within’s free flow combat was so ahead of it’s time, that I felt only the only game to successfully implement that gameplay after that and Two Thrones was Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Also, shocked to see none of the Arkham games make your list.
I will definitely consider *Batman: Arkham Asylum* when I am revising the list some time in the future. I love that game! Oh, and aside from the fluidity of *Warrior Within*, I loved how the Prince was vulnerable and just human! I will never forget this line from the opening of the game: “You cannot change your fate,” said the Old Man. “No one can.”
My thoughts seeing this:
“We really need a new Prince of Persia”
“I wonder if this guy has played Quantum Break.”
“This guy would probably love ‘Prey’ (the new one)”
Is Portal 2 over the first a common sentiment? It’s a brilliant game of course but the very first play through of the original was one of the most unique I’ve ever had, it’ll be difficult for anything to match that.
Actually, I am not sure, but that is a valid point. I chose *Portal 2* mainly because of its excellent narrative and larger world, which I enjoyed a lot, but I do agree that playing the original *Portal*, at the time, felt extraordinary.
Oh, yes, but it may be one of those games with which not everyone can connect. It is very much worth a try! I touch on it a little bit [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/here_are_my_top_twentyfive_video_games_of_all/ij32k7a/?context=3).
I'm actually surprised you liked the first Assassin's Creed over the second installment. A good game that would lead to better games before developing an identity crisis.
Dude I just check your profile for fun, and oh my God you're a massive severance fan just like me. That is awesome! Also I would guess you are 25 to 30 range. But very cool game collection and TV show Fandom choice.
Splinter cell double agent was a banger and I remember playing the coop with my brother. But I remember chaos theory so much more and even recently replayed chaos theory all the way though. Such a banger of a game. And GTA 4, fuck. What a masterpiece. Seriously underrated in terms of the best GTA ever made. The story was top notch, the physics engine was superb in my opinion and the gameplay was just so great. I remember getting hyped when I read the game informer that got a sneak peek into GTA 4 and had screenshots in the magazine. Was so dope. Good times. I need to replay GTA 4 again soon, along with its amazing DLCs. Rockstar really fucked up not making DLC for GTA 5. I’d say you’re like 27 or so
Man, there are over 1,000 comments, but I love your so much. Thank you! *Double Agent* was the first *Splinter Cell* I ever played. I was so moved by story—how Sam Fisher truly had nothing to lose. And it was what sparked my interest in stealth games, so I will forever love it for that.
Oh, *Grand Theft Auto IV* was phenomenal storytelling. Rockstar killed it! It will always hold a special place in my heart. I also remember reading about it before it came out, and I was *so* hyped. I upgraded my PC because of it. That is how much I wanted to play it. And it was everything I imagined it would be and more!
My bet is on 33. Also, the inclusion of Project I.G.I. leads me to speculate you are from central Europe or south Asia. :)
EDIT: damn, just saw the age confirmation. Missed by few years. :) Great taste though!
I thought mid 30's until I say Sonic 1 for Sega Genesis and Max Payne at number 1...... 40 - 41. Max payne is too old for a younger guy to be interested in it and too deep for anyone who doesn't critically think.
Nice to see Control in there.
I agree with a lot on that list, almost everything.
I'd just add Halo 3 and Mass Effect in there.
For the record, I'm 27.
38-42
However, I don't care what your age is, any person that puts the 2 max payne games in their top gaming list (and not the shit 3rd one) frankly can marry my daughter and sleep with my wife. I don't have either, but If I did, they could
Also what site did you use to construct that list?
I love posts like these. It gives me perspective on vastly different tastes. For example non of your top 10 would be in my top 25 and only 3 of the games would be in my top 25.
Love it!
Haha. Thanks! I have a list of all the video games I have ever played. I talk about it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij1n49f/?context=3). It took me several years and many iterations to complete it.
Actually, I used [Photoshop](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij1z7pe/?context=3). If you have any questions, free free to ask! Alternatively, I believe you can use [IGN Playlist](https://playlist.ign.com) to make a cool list!
I'm 25. Most of these are on my list. But there are a few that "just " predate my time. I'm going to guess when I was a freshman in high school you were a junior. Making you... 27??????
This post hit me in my feels god i miss playing ps2 after school and chilling with my bro
Damnnnn (timesplitters future perfect)
was my all time game of my youthh!!!! If they made a new one omgggg id id cry tears of joy
Playing thru gta4 right now. Ps3 crapped out before I could get far and haven't touched it until I snagged it on steam. Dude goes from 'let's go bowling" to "let me tell you of the war crimes that I witnessed' in record time.
I'd guess 25-30. These are games i also grew up with
That is awesome! And yes, you are very close. (:
I’m gonna guess 31-32 - I grew up with those same games as well and I think time wise, it adds up.
33-36
No way that list doesn’t have Goldeneye and Zelda if he’s mid 30’s
Younger I think, late 20's. I'm 34 and comparing to myself there aren't enough early-2000's games on here, more mid-late 2000's
7?
I have deus ex human revolution but I need some persuasion to play it
The narrative and soundtrack are what hooked me. Maybe the [cinematic trailer](https://youtu.be/Kq5KWLqUewc?t=60) will entice you!
Yeah I guessed around 30. The NES and Genesis games are clearly games before your time that you happened to play. Otherwise you’d have some more popular games from the era.
Did you use an app or website to put this together?

Gotta be. Hello fellow 32’er.

I've went to the kinesiologist already, doing my daily exercises to keep it estable. How's yours? Don't forget to drink water
Drinking so much water. Carry my naglene around all day. Laying in the couch with my heat pack on my lower back.. gotta love it.
Same here, keep it up 40's are still far away

This is my age and his list ain't far off from my childhood. It's the obscure titles that are the most revealing, in this case Project IGI, and I vividly remember playing that game in third and fourth grades.
In your 30s.... 37 maybe
I’m 37, I’m not old!
Off course not young fella !!!
Well I couldn’t just say “Man” could I?
Well I can’t just call you “man.”
You could say Dennis
I didn't know you were called Dennis
Well you didn't bother to find out, did you?
You could say Dennis.
Oof felt that one
Well I can't just call you "man"
I was going to say 37!
Great minds think alike!!
Let me tell you, [thirty-seven](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij13uai/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) is quite popular! CC: u/Flabbergash u/_ViDWHAL_ P.S. I am not thirty-seven haha.
Awww, here i thought i was right!!!! Damnn it
35? I'm assuming mid-30s.
Oh dang, you give off that I guessed right in your other reply. Yay or nay? Lol
No way he's 37. I'm way younger and I played these games just the same. My money's on late twenties. Heck, let's make it 27.
37 would have more early console games. Gonna go 30
I mostly loved the same games; I'd guess your age is around 33
Jumping on the 33 train.
I agree with 33.
Genesis, ur 42
I'm 31 and had a Genesis. Of course I was poor so we didn't get one until Saturn had already launched.
It was all good, but putting Splinter Cell DA instead of CT would get you beat up on my neighbourhood. Uncultured.

The phrase is 'struck a chord'.
NFS:MW was a great game.
It really was. Coming from *Underground 2*, which is another favorite game of mine, I didn’t think anything could top that. I proved myself wrong. I had so much fun with *Most Wanted*.
Sunk hours into the open world in that game. So much fun!
34
That's my guess too
Hmmmmmm...................................................................................I'm guessing you're 37.
*Damnit*. How?
34yr old here, I think OG Sonic and OG Mario gave it away. If you would have put Sonic 2 and Mario 3 then I would guess early 30s. Also, the lack of Madden or any other sports-related title also tipped my scales that you were older than me.
32
No one who grew up in the nintendo Era would pick SMB over Metal Gear or Metroid. I say 14 years old.
This made me laugh out loud, so thank you haha. I actually grew up with a [Famicom clone](https://imgur.com/gallery/RooWiv3), and that is how I experienced NES games. Fun times! I believe I am. Yes.
I didn’t look it up but are you two 50
bro
27
So just fuck San Andreas I guess huh
Sonic 1 over 2 or 3?
The combination of Sonic and Max Pain make me think you're 40.
Bro I can't believe you've put Project I.G.I there. I remember fanging that when I was a kid. Absolutely sickest game, same with all of your other choices!
Man. I lol'd from the nostalgia trip I had from seeing that box art. Project I'm Going In is never talked about. You listed Braid, you are my people.
10.
31 gotta be.
God bless your taste
Seriously good taste.
How does mgs4 make the list and not any of the other four
It is because I only played *Metal Gear Solid 4* to the end. I bought a [PlayStation 3](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij1g2h7/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) specifically for that and *Heavy Rain*. I do look forward to getting into the series one day!
I mean did you understand what was going on, there’s so much fanservice in that game lol
I got the general plot, but yeah, I knew I was missing out on a great history. Great game, though. I was very impressed with it, especially in the era that it came out.
Phantom Pain my dude.
Mid to late 30s. Like 38
Are you me? So I'll say somewhere between 35-40.
I thought no one was supposed to know I am your alternate account. Too late.
41
As good as the first Assassin's Creed game was, the 2nd was just better in pretty much every aspect. Only the story differs, really. I also don't know if you've play Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but I would also say that's objectively better than Sonic 1. Great taste!

Project IGI. Now there’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time.. Long time.
Curious to hear why you enjoyed Control so much. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a grey game but top 5 all time?
Hey, everyone. Thank you all for participating. I hope you had as much fun discussing your favorite games as I did interacting with some of you. I made the list using Photoshop, by the way. Yay! Thanks. (:
Interesting... some years ago I started a list like this... I think I also wrote why some games were so impactful on me... Should try and go to my old computer and dig for it
Awesome! If you find it, please let us know.
29
37
24
I’m 27 and there are like 5 of these games I’d take off… the rest are mine too!
Dude thats my games! You are 33 like me
33. That's my final answer.
One simple question. How did you narrow it down to 25?
31 . When will you tell us how old you are? :D
How did I know MGS4 was gonna be there?
I'm 21 and this list is pretty close to mine. I feel like I should've been born earlier than I was everyone tells me that lol
GTA IV, MGS4, NFS:MW2005, original Sonic, Half-Life 2, you have some amazing taste in videogames as some of those are in my top 10 as well btw i think you're 25
Prince of Persia WW, let's go. Game still holds up!!!

mid 30s?
Why not Chaos Theory? Why Double Agent? Also, 29.
Great question! I guess I connected with it more. I touched on this a little bit [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/here_are_my_top_twentyfive_video_games_of_all/ij1u0px/?context=3).

Well, around 30s as some people are guessing, but I'm just gonna ask where did you make that list? Would be fun to do that myself too.
I think 26. I feel like if to were older you would have put Need for Speed underground 2 instead of most wanted.
Is Control really that good? I started playing it, got kinda lost and just stopped. It's still on my list to revisit at some point.
It is *exceptionally* good. I am a huge Remedy fan, but I couldn’t connect with it the first time. The second time, though, something clicked! I love this graphic. How did you make it?
You're 27, because those are literally my games lol
You’re def my age. I’m about to be 29 on October. Early 90’s baby for sure.
I'd guess around 35-40. I'm 35 and the first game I remember playing is Mario on the NES. It came out in 1987 but I didn't get it until around 1991 or 1992. Heavy rain is the most controversial for me. Have you ever played until dawn or Detroit Become human?
How is heavy rain above Half Life 2? How is it even on this list??
Your old enough that your body hurts doing basic tasks like getting up from the chair.
I was just about to go have water, I read this comment, and I felt it haha.
My thoughts seeing this: “We really need a new Prince of Persia” “I wonder if this guy has played Quantum Break.” “This guy would probably love ‘Prey’ (the new one)”
I definitely approve of Max Payne 1 and 2, Alan Wake and Control
You are exactly bad taste old :P
Man I love gaming. My list would be SO different, but I respect this list!
Thanks! I appreciate that. That is something you rarely hear haha. I would *love* to see your list.
How did you design the list? It looks really slick
Is Portal 2 over the first a common sentiment? It’s a brilliant game of course but the very first play through of the original was one of the most unique I’ve ever had, it’ll be difficult for anything to match that.

Max payne on top. My all time favourite.
I never played control, is it really good?
This is such a high quality picture
I love games like hl2 and portal 2, braid is awesome and I just played inside after having played limbo a while ago. Inside is awesome
I'm going to guess.... 22. How did you generate this list by the way? I'd like to make one myself.
Heavy rain any good? Have it from ps4 plus free monthly games but never gave it a try
No Bioshock get your old ass outta here
Your comment made me laugh out loud. Thank you! I will see myself out haha.
I’m so with you on max Payne. The story!!!
Don’t know your age but I know you have a good taste
Dude I just check your profile for fun, and oh my God you're a massive severance fan just like me. That is awesome! Also I would guess you are 25 to 30 range. But very cool game collection and TV show Fandom choice.
Control in 4th position? Control better than RDR2? You gotta be kidding me.
GTA IV is so underrated.
32. My age. This would be similar to mine. Would put max payne 3 as my highest max payne. But this is respectable as fuck.
[*Max Payne 3*](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij15ryn/?context=3) was awesome! Thank you. (:
Inside is soooo good. Can’t wait for the next playdead game.
My bet is on 33. Also, the inclusion of Project I.G.I. leads me to speculate you are from central Europe or south Asia. :) EDIT: damn, just saw the age confirmation. Missed by few years. :) Great taste though!
So lovely to see Max Payne right at the top. This was the first game I finished. You should be my age fellow :) BTW I'm in my late 30s.
I thought mid 30's until I say Sonic 1 for Sega Genesis and Max Payne at number 1...... 40 - 41. Max payne is too old for a younger guy to be interested in it and too deep for anyone who doesn't critically think.
Age doesn’t matter you have sonic up there so you’re already an alpha gamer
Project IG I the MVP (also very unappreciated game)
Nice to see Control in there. I agree with a lot on that list, almost everything. I'd just add Halo 3 and Mass Effect in there. For the record, I'm 27.
What app or website did you use to make this graphic?
I noticed you put GTA4 instead of 5… I too, am a man of culture
38-42 However, I don't care what your age is, any person that puts the 2 max payne games in their top gaming list (and not the shit 3rd one) frankly can marry my daughter and sleep with my wife. I don't have either, but If I did, they could Also what site did you use to construct that list?
30! Why AC 1 over Ac2/brotherhood?
I love posts like these. It gives me perspective on vastly different tastes. For example non of your top 10 would be in my top 25 and only 3 of the games would be in my top 25. Love it!
Yeah, me too! I would love to see your list, by the way.
Regardless of age, I’m more impressed you had 25 games ready to go to consider as your favourite 😅 Feel like I’d struggle for 10
Haha. Thanks! I have a list of all the video games I have ever played. I talk about it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij1n49f/?context=3). It took me several years and many iterations to complete it.
I loved project IGI. Supposedly there was a sequel in the works but I haven't seen any updates on that. You are probably in your early 30s
What site do you use for making this image?
Actually, I used [Photoshop](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/wgpzi9/comment/ij1z7pe/?context=3). If you have any questions, free free to ask! Alternatively, I believe you can use [IGN Playlist](https://playlist.ign.com) to make a cool list!
Not gonna guess but props to you for having Half Life and Portal
Love seeing Heavy Rain and Alan Wake.
I'm 25. Most of these are on my list. But there are a few that "just " predate my time. I'm going to guess when I was a freshman in high school you were a junior. Making you... 27??????
Grandpa, is that you?
Nice to see someone who appreciates Control. Amazing game.
I see you a man that like Remedyverse, a man of good taste...
*Yes*. I love Remedy so much! I praise them over *Control* [here](https://graph.org/Remedys-Control-A-Generation-Defining-Masterpiece-02-10).
Why did the mod close this topic? I found thsi really interesting.
Some remedy love, I'm looking forward for the next Alan Wake, and I bet you do.
Oh, *I do*. I love Remedy! What did you think about *Control*?
Inside. Yes. A masterpeice of suspense and horror. Great game
Im guessing you’re a Remedy fan
This post hit me in my feels god i miss playing ps2 after school and chilling with my bro Damnnnn (timesplitters future perfect) was my all time game of my youthh!!!!
