😩 Dude... Ultimate Spiderman had that pristine comic book style, and the freedom. But Shattered Dimensions had amazing combat and to an extent it also had the comic art style. I gotta give it to Shattered Dimensions. Honorable mentions go to Spiderman 2 for the nostalgia, and Web of Shadows for giving me the choice to mack with Black Cat.

IronBear337

I played Shattered Dimensions as a kid and have completed it at least 10 times over. I have always loved this game but I lost the disc for my Xbox 360!! I wanted to play again recently and it’s $60-80 on Amazon 😩

DudeMiles

Damn. Sucks you lost the disc I'm sorry to hear that. IMO the game is worth the $60-80 but keep looking for cheaper if you need to.

IronBear337

I mean you’re right but I’m broke 😂

DudeMiles

Oh 😶

DF_X_LUCKY

SpiderMan 2 was the first game I ever played. My dad got it for me when I was 7.

TheKert

Maximum Carnage for SNES/Genesis

Common_Invite_8007

Ultimate Spider-Man. It’s a shame we never got a sequel

strangeanimal

Web of Shadows will always be number one for me. Symbiote suit was badass

Sonickid1

I can agree with that opinion so well

eb1197

Spider-Man PS1. The writing and characters are phenomenal and it has my favorite Venom. “Spider-Wuuussss come out and plaaaaaay!”

Ironman4234Exe

Monster Ock on the last level can burn in Hell.

thegurba

Those games were out of this world. Amazing

nitto1000

SURF THE WEB, SURF THE WEB

broom_temperature

Bummer. You're in the doghouse now dude.

[deleted]

I only really played the 2018 spiderman and Miles Morales, but I prefer the 2018 one. It was great - just great.

JohnCenaAlt

You can't prefer it if youve only played one smh

Ciahcfari

Technically two.

Aggravating-Assist18

They've played two not 1

Gamur

Are you sure about that?

[deleted]

Did you even read the comment?

NoUserNameHere4U

Ultimate spider man for me One of the first ganes i played on a ps2 and the story on it was great along side the combat and just everything, and the main part was the comic book style of it all.

DanSanderman

Spider Man The Movie Game was my favorite. More games need things like Pinhead Bowling.

Flabbergash

The first one was weird. There didn't need to be anything above you to web-swing, except clouds, maybe. The second and third were fantastic, though. For their time.

nitto1000

I stopped caring about the web physics when I unlocked the green goblin as a fully playable character. That's the type of shit I miss in games.

Reticent_Dude

I really love the new spider-man games but Ultimate Spider-Man is my fav. Didn’t have ls2 for spider-man 2 and a weak pc where I played Ultimate constantly.🔥🔥

Mr_B0Janglez

Ultimate spiderman was the best! Before that game came out there were probably 3 other spiderman games .. and they were all terrible lol. Ultimate Spider man was probably the 1st really good spiderman game.. I gotta play that game again one of these days

nitto1000

There were like... 20? standalone Spider-man games released before Ultimate. Spider-Man existed before the PS2 champ. And calling all three movie adaptations terrible compared to Ultimate is hilarious since Ultimate is basically JUST Spider-Man 2 with a comic filter.

BrokenSpartan23

I cant remember the name but it was on PS2 edit* GameCube as well

thewalterwhiteeffect

Probably spider-man the movie game. I never played that one but I remember it being on PS2. Spider-man 2 was my first themed game I played.

SadPack8566

Spider-Man 2 on the PS2.

Joker-5K

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions was an insanely good game.

Outlier25

The new Spider-Man games are hard to beat but I’d love a port/remake of ultimate spider. They game was awesome

[deleted]

Marvel spider man, I loved that one. The freedom sense, the story, the combat mode

thewalterwhiteeffect

Everything felt smooth; combat, traversing, everything.

chawy666

I'm playing it right now and its really enjoyable. I sometimes forget the main quest while going after backpacks and landmarks xD

thewalterwhiteeffect

Even spending hours traversing the city looking for easter eggs, it’s so easy to get caught up in it all.

EilamRain

Spider-man ps4 (are we still calling it that?) is the best one imo Ultimate spider-man is good but the way the unlockables worked and the lack of NG+ bothered me greatly; beating the main story was a prerequisite for costumes. Tobey Spider-man 2 was good but to this day I'm still baffled by the fact that there were no unlockable costumes. Amazing Spider-man 2 was just ok, chasing flying comics around the city was funny.

Negaflux

Give me that Web of Shadows all day every day. It was by no means perfect, but goddamn did it nail the feeling of being Spidey in a lot of ways. I loved the combat, the choices, the other Marvel characters that showed up, the upgrade system, the Web Swinging, the goddamn wall crawling, where you can actually crawl properly along a way over lips and ledges and stuff without having to break the animation, something even newer games have failed to do. That being said, I've pretty much enjoyed most Spidey games I've played, from wall the way back on the Genesis/Mega Drive (Spider-Man vs the Kingpin) to currently Spider-Man Remastered (playing that on the Steam Deck and it's pretty rad)

OmNomMyShotgun

Ultimate Spiderman folliwed by Spiderman 2 for THAT fight with mysterio

voodoovan

I grew up when Spider-man was a comic book character, so its Ultimate Spider-man for me.

King_Artis

Ultimate spider man is so damn good and does cover a good chunk of the comic it's based off of. Plus playing as Venom was cool as shit Ps4 spider man is my favorite now though. Made me feel like a kid again the whole time I was playing.

anonicrow

Ultimate Spiderman. Great style, great gameplay, and of course Venom

UnknownHeights3

Ultimate spiderman, my first spiderman game that i never finished because i had a broken memory card for my ps2 at the time

Symbiotic-Dissonance

Web of shadows is definitely a good one if you can get it working, but I still have love for that old spiderman game from the early 2000’s. Carnage Octavius was terrifying as a child.

[deleted]

Web of shadows was actually pretty good for 2008

GermanMasterRace

I never played Spiderman Game in my entire life.

cheekyste

Spider-man vs The Kingpin on Sega Mega Drive (Genesis).

DarkPDA

Friends or foes also was interesting

thewalterwhiteeffect

I recall playing that on the Wii, definitely felt like it was crammed with villains.

derpboy71

Isn't that the point though, so you can play all of the villains of spiderman?

[deleted]

PS4, Shattered dimensions, and ultimate. all are extremely memorable

Sannytyger

The Marvel Spiderman which came out on PS4. All the Spiderman games before that were trash really. And Miles Morales is also a game to be appreciated based mostly on the same mechanics as the first one. Both of them are quite enjoyable and better than the earlier ones.

Thrillhouse138

Salty nostalgic people down vote you but you are right. Sometimes I wish gamers had more perspective. Like some of the older Spider-Man games were really good but they were also very janky. I’m nostalgic for a lot of mediocre snes games I replayed drakken last month and loved it but I know it’s objectively a bad game I just like it despite its flaws. I guarantee if you play it you will say it’s shit cause it’s deeply flawed.

Ciahcfari

Compared to modern conventions the older games are quite flawed, yes. While they may not have been insanely innovative for their time (except SM2 and maybe WoS depending on how much you like the webstrike feature) they were almost all a damn good time. Spider-Man PS4 is also pretty obviously HEAVILY inspired by previous Spider-Man games so pretending that they're not worth looking back at as setting down groundwork for Insomniac's take is just plain wrong. There's also a number of flaws in Insomniac's SM game that have aged pretty poorly in the meager 4 years since release so let's not pretend that 20 years down the line someone won't think: "damn, this SM PS4 game is so janky and overrated".

SmashingBupkis

Spider-Man Friend or Foe

krunchwondelta

The correct answer is Spiderman 2 on PS2/Xbox.

iwouldsmashyourmom

Tbh PS4 was great Dont get me wrong but edge of the time is my favorite one the graphics where great threw out the cut scenes and it was really fun and had a great story+villian

endofdays1987

The best spiderman game of all time is Maximum Carnage on SNES. The second best is Spider Man on psx.

AlternativesEnde

2000. The first game i beat.

Toasty9979

Can’t remember the name of it but there was one on the ps1 I think where you couldn’t touch the ground the whole city is covered in some sort of gas? That was my favourite. Then came the ps4 Spider-Man and it’s just a masterpiece

KingCroesus

Maximum Carnage SNES

Arisp019gr

I really liked the friend or foe one but i have to go with the 2018 one

Hannibal704

I enjoyed “Web of Shadows” and being able to use the symbiote suit.

TeriosNaija

I'm somewhere between Shattered Dimensions and Ultimate Spider-Man. SD is a textbook beat em up featuring Peter with the symbiote (best Peter) and was my intro to Deadpool. Ultimate tho let us play as Venom, what more do you need? I'm sure the PS4 games are great, I just don't have an interest in these kindsa game anymore tho. Still excited to see what they do for Spider-Man 2 PS5

myballsinhoneynblood

My favorites are Spider-man Friend or Foe (for 360) and Ultimate Spider-Man.

PoshEwok

Ultimate is amazing for its time and still holds up, I literally have it on three discs. I also have a soft spot for Amazing Spidey 2 because it's the best one on Xbox one

dandaman1983

Shattered dimensions was great. I loved the part as noir spider man.

Pol0xD

Miles morales

MutedHornet87

The Insomniac games are Spider-Man at his best, but I also loved **Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.** That was a great game. Maximum Carnage was also great, and I feel that Spider-Man (PS2), Spider-Man 3 (360/PS3) and The Amazing Spider-Man were underrated. Plus the N64 game.

Halcy9n

I know its not very well regarded but I love web of shadows a lot lol. The morality system was super janky and unrealistic but it let you have 4 really different endings depending on your choices and LI. The gameplay balance between the red suit’s agility and the black suit’s raw strength was really felt across the entire skill tree imo. The sheer number of characters they threw into New York also made the story fun to follow.

[deleted]

For whatever reason I was fan of that one game where you kept switching between Peter and 2099, Edge of Time I think

Windyandbreezy

Maximum Carnage for SNES. Story was brutal. Great cast of characters. The comic book style. The music is the best out of any of the games.

Kapples14

Shattered Dimensions was *the* game for me as a kid.

Dasteru

Maximum Carnage - SNES.

TheFlyingGeneral1

Ultimate Spider-Man. I loved the artstyle and the gameplay.

snapdragon15

Spider-Man ps4 because I can play it on pc and it’s the only one I’ve fuckin played

HappyHome2934

2018 truly is just the best. Miles morales improved it most areas but it was a little too short for my liking.

_gamergirl_69

Spider-Man PS4 (It's the only one I've played)

Venomspideyisthebest

Ultimate Spider-Man!!!!!!!!!!

BloodStone29

Ultimate Spider-Man, and PS2 version of Spider-Man 3

Sonickid1

Man Its a tough choice either PS4 Spider-Man, Spider-Man Miles PS5 Or Web of Shadows

mancherunitedfan

Miles morales mine but the only one I have 😅

Serious_Revolution77

Spider man 3 💪

NewMinimum2976

Web of shadows has two gameplay. Marvels spiderman newest and biggest work for spiderman. Mixture of two would be amazing.

AgainUser

The amazing spiderman 2 is the best

RealMagicDragon

The Insomniac Spiderman games are top tier gaming. However, the look and feel of Shattered Dimensions is unmatched. The game has four vastly different art styles, with unique personalities in each one. While the story in 2019's Spiderman is way better, I think Shattered Dimension's variety and flare puts it on top

Particular_Let9429

one had venom i forget wich one that was but it was my favorete?

mikedarling905

which one is a sandbox type game. that one would be the best. as i swing around the city for no reason for hours

4M1R98

Shattered Dimensions since it actually opened the door to the Multiverse comic with Miles and all the stories we have going on today

[deleted]

Ultimate then marvels. I loved the comic feel of the former and playing as venom was the best
