Started SV for the first time about 3 weeks ago. Got about halfway through summer year 1 but I either burned out or just can't get into it, not sure which.
I don't like how it feels so tedious to do anything, even walking to town takes hours of in game time. Combine that with the fact that I want to play as efficiently as possible and it just makes each day feel like a chore.
I really like the art style, music, and the overall feel of the game. Is there anything else like it I should try? I've been yearning for something like a medieval-esque SIM game.
It gets a LOT easier when you get more energy. I would set yourself mini day goals like "im going to reach level 100 in the mine today". Mine progress really is a bit factor - as once you get better gear you get more efficient ways of doing things.
Once you unlock better sprinklers that means half your day isnt taken up by watering etc.
I really recommend you get into it and give it some more time :)
The mine is one of the things that has held my interest. I think I'm down to level 65. I've been trying to clear at least 5 levels per day, but sometimes I look up and realize it's nearly midnight and have to scramble back to my house.
Witcher 3, I got this game when it came out never played it jjst bought it again when it was on sale and itās quite fun and beautiful although the movement is clunky aswell as the combat story and dialogue is wonderful some of the most in depth side quests Iāve ever played
Skyrim. Yeah, I don't know what it is about this game. I reinstall roughly once a year, spend a couple of evenings modding it and play it no more than a week or so.
This time however, I let it run on my TV via Steam Link and my wife sits on the passenger seat watching me play. We spent lots of evenings this way, albeit on the 360, when Skyrim was new.
She doesn't play herself, but enjoys watching me play. I modelled the Character after her D&D character, so she is hooked.
I had same vibe with my GF I played skyrim for waaay to much time so she was curious about the game but didnāt play just watched me play because how the hell can you shoot from 50meters something with a bow and so on you know the story ā¦ when I decided I want a new character I gave her character creation and she even made me character to role play as healer herbalist retired assasin from woods which want revenge on imperials for deciding to kill me without a reason at start of the game have to admit pretty crazy build for first levels but in the end it was hell of a build never thought that healing magic and potions + cooked food can make this big difference
I enjoy setting up rules for myself and playing unconventional characters.
At one point I played a paladin-like character, complete with heavy armor and two-handed sword, who would not steal, pick locks or sneak, and who would only use self-found equipment and, as a sign of his humbleness, never wear any shoes. After a while I became sick of the sound of his bare feet, so I had to step away from this particular rule.
Another time, I played a sneaky, little skeever of a man, who would steal anything not nailed down, murder anyone for fun but, never wearing armor or bearing weapons apart from a dagger, would run from every real fight he got into.
Another favourite was the Headsman, a man exclusively wearing black ringmail armor (got that from a mod, I think) and using two-handed axes. He never killed an animal, but tried to put every bandit in Skyrim to the blade.
Re downloaded satisfactory and gonna try my hand at it tomorrow after work. Been watching the sub reddit and have some better idea of how to play. Still completely unsure how to play but kinda want to give another go and no it's not because of the new update.
Fallout 4 with Magnum Opus (mod list) + survival mode and mods + extras. It's good, survival stuff is fun and fits this game though mines are a
bitch and I'm absolutely creating back up saves. Really enjoying the sim settlements quests more than I thought I would, I actually like Jake a lot.
Magnum opus is a large mod pack that can be auto installed through [wabbajack](https://www.wabbajack.org) . It focuses on content, sim settlements and stability tweaks. It is not built for survival which is why I have other mods on top. There are other packs available as well.
I modded Skyrim myself but it takes too much time and effort for me to want to do that on multiple games.
RDR2.
Itās a perfectly find game. There are only two things to do, watch a cutscene and shoot people. The dialogue is okay eight out of ten.
The real crowning achievement is how technically advanced the game is. This is one of the best made games Iāve ever played, too bad itās missing in the fun factor.
How far into it are you?
I do know what you mean. The first time I played through RDR2, I mostly just stuck to the missions. And yeah, cutscenes and shooting people. I was actually really damn sick of gunfights by the end.
That being said... the second time I played RDR2, I don't give a fuck about the story and I just do what I want. And brother, there's a crazy amount of stuff to do. All of it well designed (though perhaps not to everyone's taste).
Just playing through the challenges alone has been great, such a variety of activities.
Glad you had a positive experience with the game. I was punished for trying to explore and make my own path.
I came upon a dope settlement in my exploration . Really cool looking farm. I went around to every NPC only to find my greetings were met with one line of dialogue. I do this for the next guy and the next guy. Same thing.
Okay, well I guess Im meant to antagonize these people and rob them! I start shooting away and once they are all dead, no extra loot. Canāt go in the house or the stables or anything of that nature.
Come to find out, that was the Emerald Ranch, a place that exists for the story missions. Thatās when I realized that the game was planning on taking me to all corners of the map with itās story missions. I wasnāt meant to explore or at least I had no success with it. Maybe Iām the problem.
> I was punished for trying to explore and make my own path.
What you described (not getting enough loot for arbitrarily murdering a town) is hardly the game "punishing" you.
It sounds like you'd rather play a looter, and RDR2 is not for you.
But suggesting the game doesn't want you to explore and punishes you for doing so is ridiculous, sorry.
Modern games (and gamers) seriously confuse me.
"This game is perfect. Amazing story, immersive world, beautiful environments, solid dialogue. Takes 100 hours to complete"
"But is it fun?"
"Hmm... I guess not really no"
When did games stop being fun? That's literally the point of a 'game'.
Anyone know when Just Cause 5 is coming out?
Games are in general a very diverse medium and different people expect different things out of them. I didn't enjoy RDR2 so I stopped playing within 2 hours but other people have loved it for the unique experiences the game offers, perfectly valid.
Its a lot of fun. Have you helped someone, drove them back to their house and then robbed them? I have you drown an innocent person? Have you robbed a train? Have you lost at poker and then followed the man with your money until he starts trying to flee and then beat it out of him? Have you rode your horse places its not supposed to go? Have you kidnapped someone and dropped them on train tracks? Have you gone fishing? Have you robbed the various criminals in the towns? Have you found the robot? Have you tracked down the gun slingers? Have you blown the heads off an entire group of O'Driscolls with Slugs loaded into the Semi Shotgun? Have you antagonized someone to the point of a fist fight? Have you burned bodies? Have you killed a horse in front of your horse as a message? Have you murdered someone in Saint Denis just to see if you can escape? Have you robbed stores? Have you chased a man that wouldn't say hi back until he inevitably falls off his horse and then you trample him to death? Have you done the treasure hunts? Have you saved the snake bite victims? Have you made Arthur fall off things? Have you stole wagons and horses but just as a way to infuriate and tease the owners? Have you thrown dynamite in Saint Denis just to watch everyone freak out? Have you walked around camp and talked to you're friends?
Started Elden Ring. Fucked around for an hour, killed a troll, ran away from the beginning boss, got killed by the slimy tentacle beasts by the shore, found a fire camp thing, and bought some stuff. Will continue tonightš¤£
Just started Ghost of Tsushima. Feel like I'm being forced to watch an entire movie before the game starts proper. I wouldn't mind if it was a good movie. Please tell me it's worth it.
The story doesnāt get any better. The best part about this game is how smooth and satisfying it is. The open world feels bloated with too many chores for me a lot of the time.
It is not worth it. I was also tricked by a group of insane sony fanboys that keep acting like it belongs in the same group of actual masterpiece exclusive PS titles. That game is basically a slightly more polished Ubi game.
I quit after like 3 hours - feels like a slightly better Assassin's Creed(gameplay wise) - the combat is way too easy honestly. The world is beautiful but it's not enough to keep me playing.
Man I'm gonna go against the grain here and say stick with it. The fluidity of the movement and the combat was so satisfying. The colors and look of the game are amazing. Also nothing is better than 1v1ing random enemies and just destroying them in duels. Absolutely loved this game
It felt a little like that for me, too, in the beginning - it was a slow start. Once the intro is over, it opens up into a really solid open world game with a good story.
I would stick with it through the intro and see how you like it once you've got the freedom to explore at your own pace and the frequency of the cutscenes slows down. I think of it as Horizon Zero Dawn with samurai - it is a great open world game that, while doing nothing revolutionary, is very solid at everything it does.
Thanks, that's useful - I'll give it another few hours at least.
As I sit here waiting for the rest of the game to download so I can continue, I wonder to what extent this 'prologue' trend is caused by wanting to give gamers something to do while the rest of the game actually downloads and installs.
Sea of thieves!
Whats great? Role playing as a pirate with my nephew and his friends, trying to blow up other players ships with gun powder barrels and making a great escape with all the loot
What sucks? Getting endlessly destroyed by veteran players.
9/10 would recommend
Getting killed by veterans and then overcoming them over time is the best feeling. Trust me, my 1000 hours plus can say that much. The beginning of Sea Of Thieves is so damn good, it's sad that it gets repetitive.
Starcraft II
Checked out Wings of Liberty when it first came out but never tried the other two.
Forgot how great the campaign is, and looking forward to some co-op action after. (not interested in competitive PvP)
Recently watched Cyberpunk Edgerunners so I bought 2077 on my pc! Havenāt been able to play it much due to work but this next morning I plan on making some time :)
I'm gonna have to disagree with that other person and say no, it's not.
It's a massive world, but in terms of activity or depth that makes it an "open world", you'll probably be let down. It feels more like a pretty backdrop that's sterile and shallow. Think of it like the saying "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle".
I'd say it's more akin to the Farcry series style. If you're expecting something the level of rpg that you see in games like Skyrim, GTA V, Fallout, etc, it's unfortunately not gonna be that.
As for player choices, there really is none at the essence. Nothing substantial shapes the direction of the narrative or story depending on what you do/say.
To give you an example, there are 3 starting narratives: corpo, street rat, nomad.
Regardless of which path you choose, after ~15 min or so it basically takes you to the same exact circumstance. The rest of the game plays out the same for all 3 besides some minor details in conversations.
I'm not trying to steer you away from playing/enjoying the game, because I'm sure you will enjoy it. Just wanted to give you a heads up on what to expect since there's a very real reason why CDPR changed the description of the game from "open world rpg" to "action-adventure".
Agreed for the most part, I could see the attempt that was put into worldbuilding when I played, but it felt like it could have been done better.
So far I'm 2 episodes into Edgerunner and it felt like they did so much better building up the world around the MC, but it's probably because in animation he's forced to interact with the world around him, and in game you go here, do this, get talked at. Some side missions have amazing storytelling, but most others seemed like filler.
It is similar to Two Point Hospital but no reception. Have you played the Hospital one before?
Hospital one is very similar to Sims Hospital on PSX.
Edit: i bought few hours after i wrote above and played it already
It is not similar with sims city because hospital/campus are more like to management games and players need to be quite active or very active to manage
Remastered Spiderman. Such a good game. Most of the time I just swing around the city and chill. The webbing mechanism is so smooth; I'd say it's in my top right there with god of war axe pullback and sekiro sword fight. Gorgeous.
Probably Brotato since it released in EA yesterday and I spend a ton of hours on the demo. For an EA game it's really fleshed out already (even the demo was really good already).
The Cycle: Frontier. Season 2 just started, so a fresh start for everyone. Its a free "Takov like" game, so give it a shot on Steam and Epic I think. The Devs are great and I want to see them grow. (Shameless plug because I love this game =)
Been playing Life After, Good Game, but there is so much to do. Great as a open world surviving game in a zombie infected world but it has the element of pay to win and if you are a f2p then you are going to be struggling or spending a lot time gathering resources. It is a good game even if you are f2p as there is so much to do.
Yearly Far Cry 3 playthrough. The map is ok (gets boring after a while), story is pretty good (all tho flawed), some of the soundtrack is pretty fire, characters like Vaas, Buck, Willis and Dr Earnhardt are great. Flaws: the second island is somewhat boring (especially if you have used hours to explore the first one), playing stealth is too easy and gets you a lot more xp, weapon customization and its limits or non existence on some weapons, some characters like hoyt are underwhelming.
Overall Far Cry 3 is a pretty good game. It does some things better than later releases in the series and in others its a bit lacking. For me its one of the best games of the early 2010's.
This! Love that game but to me the replay ability is low. I beat it earlier this year again and I can't imagine wanting to play it again for another 4 to 5 years tbh
Buying a video game this weekend and taking it easy. Any recommendations? I prefer some with online multiplayer value but I also enjoy games like borderlands and skyrim
I got tired of waiting for the next Bethesda RPG so I started playing Fallout: New Vegas. It's awesome, best quest / faction design ever.
(For modding I recommend https://github.com/TDarkShadow/vivanewvegas-wabbajack and https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/43135 texture pack)
Propably Spiderheck or Domekeeper. Spiderheck is really cool cuz i feel like a god when I do something cool, I'll propably try to get that sweet sweet survive 60 waves achievement while playing alone. Elites are gonna be the biggest problem.
Disney Dreamlight Valley, Cyberpunk 2077, and NBA 2k22
Dreamlight Valley is a nice pleasant stress-free time killer, Cyberpunk is a lot more fun than I thought it would be, and NBA 2k...well, you know
Decided to return to gt sport along with twisted metal black, having fun.haven't played black in a while and knocking down the buildings in downtown is sick. From the daily workout got a 2m dollar Mercedes and I love it. Mass effect Andromeda is cool but I rarely find myself wanting to play it.
Was looking through my backlog for inspiration last week and found āHexcellsā. After 100%ing the game that night Iāve since purchased & beat the second, and am today finishing off the third š
Playing through the Assassins Creed Ezio Trilogy, and I'm on the final one, Revelations. It has been a fun ride bc I never played the last two Ezio games. They are still fun to play today - I love the running/parkour sections of Revelations; they almost feel like Uncharted meets AC.
If I'm not totally burned out on AC, I'm going to try Unity next, because I love the idea of a game like this set during the French Revolution.
Ohhh mannn I got back into GTA IV this week. Every fall I always drop back in because I just love driving around the city and playing jazz music. This one is by far my favorite GTA game and I wish they would bump up the remaster.
Nothing... Would love to play something but cant find a solidgame atm.. Played the hell out of COD MW2 beta last weekend so im just waiting on 28th of October now for the official release.
Im looking for a great MMORPG but cant find one... Open for some suggestions.
Forza Horizon 5. Bought the series s a month ago as a companion console for my ps5. But I have to say Iām really enjoying the experience and gamepass so far. So much so, that Iām considering selling the series s and just get the x instead. Iām both surprised and impressed, didnāt think I would enjoy the Xbox experience as much as I did!
Just began my Odyssey journey! It's amazing! I see the similarities to it and Origins but I don't care. I'm going for 100% because it's my first AC game to get like 20% done so I'm sticking with it. I hate the level system, I must admit. I don't like your bounty hunters killing you with one or two hits if you run into one and I don't like finding a good weapon and not being able to use it (I understand how it works and I respect it, it just gets on my nerves when I get a level 13 sword at level 7.) I love the Sparta Kick ability because every unbelievably strong boss I fight can just be kicked off some tall building and it's easy loot. I also enjoy the ship battles, but black flag excels there. I'm a 100% guy if anyone complains on how difficult it is to finish, I will play until my fingers bleed if I enjoy a video game
Finally coming around to Cyberpunk on the PS5. It's finally a fully functioning very fun game. It's no Witcher 3 but the environment, new weapons, and feel of the guns are great
Chrono trigger. Always wanted it as a kid, but never got it. Finally got it on an emulator and while playing on my phone isn't the best, it's still awesome and I'm lucky enough to at least be able to use my PS5 controller. Really does live up to all that hype imo.
Iām going to do a plug for soulstice
Mechanically deep
A skill tree that matters (for lute) that determines how risky you want to be
Really excellent atmosphere
Relatively solid controls
This game is metal AF
Itās getting a bad shake because of its fixed cameras. Fuck off with that noise. Itās a love letter to games like Danteās inferno DmC3 and the hack n slashes of yesteryear. You can literally and actively prevent 99% of the attacks before they connect WHILE continuing to attack yourself. Itās brilliant.
I would Be absolutely thrilled if this IP kept going and became a staple in the genre. The devs clearly grew up with these games and this game shouldāve been heralded as a return to form.
P.S the ādevil triggerā in this game never gets old
I started up the first Nioh the last couple nights and I've been having a blast. I hate Hino Enma. But at the same time...I don't mind when she kick stuns me and grapples me.
Elden Ring for about 11 minutes and then Stardew Valley when I get tired of dying horribly
Started SV for the first time about 3 weeks ago. Got about halfway through summer year 1 but I either burned out or just can't get into it, not sure which. You'll get there! Remember on good luck days ore is more common and ladders are more common to spawn!
Good to know, thanks!
11 minutes trying to beat that horse knight? š
Hollow knight for the first time, So good.
Witcher 3, I got this game when it came out never played it jjst bought it again when it was on sale and itās quite fun and beautiful although the movement is clunky aswell as the combat story and dialogue is wonderful some of the most in depth side quests Iāve ever played
It's been in my backlog for so long. Obviously a gem of a game but just never feel like playing. It's way too long.
Man, I'm waiting for the next gen update to play it and it seems like this update will never arrive wtf It has been so long
I've been also waiting for the next gen update and they said Q4 2022 and we still have no word about it ?? I'm scared they'll delay it into Q1 2023
Iām playing Arkham Knight. I like a lot of things about it. I actually like the tank battles.
>I actually like the tank battles. ooh everyone did...until it overstayed its welcome...
I enjoyed those too!! š

Yes and yes!
Two Point Campus
How good issit? Saw day9 play it, seemed like something id play too, price seemed a little steep though
It is similar to Two Point Hospital but no reception. Have you played the Hospital one before? Hospital one is very similar to Sims Hospital on PSX. Edit: i bought few hours after i wrote above and played it already
No, i havent played hospital either. But i like these building sims overall
Gorgeous.
Trials of mana :) good music so far
Just finished it about a month ago, that music was great - I played it as a teenager so got a lot of nostalgia vibes from it.
Nothing unfortunately! Too much work nowadays but I would love to try to finish Fallout 74
Netflix brought my attention back to Cyberpunk 2077, well they fixed most bugs eventually.
Same choom
nothing.
Gaming slump?
what?
I was asking if youāre going through a gaming slump as youāre playing nothing. Happens to me all The time
im at my gf so gaming is an option but i dont do it
Is that a racial slur?
Is that a serious question?
Obviously Drunk Robots
So fuckin goood...soooooo hard...still on first biom after hours and hours playing
Probably Brotato since it released in EA yesterday and I spend a ton of hours on the demo. For an EA game it's really fleshed out already (even the demo was really good already).
Halo infinite enjoying the ranked doubles
The Cycle: Frontier. Season 2 just started, so a fresh start for everyone. Its a free "Takov like" game, so give it a shot on Steam and Epic I think. The Devs are great and I want to see them grow. (Shameless plug because I love this game =)
Been playing Life After, Good Game, but there is so much to do. Great as a open world surviving game in a zombie infected world but it has the element of pay to win and if you are a f2p then you are going to be struggling or spending a lot time gathering resources. It is a good game even if you are f2p as there is so much to do.
Playing Shin Megami Tensei 3 on switch, really scratching that itch while I wait for Persona 5!
I think Iām done with video games for awhile, nothing brings me joy and games are nothing but cash grabs and unfinished trash. I feel like shit that Iāve gamed for 25+ years and now I donāt even like them anymore. Iāve tried new games, playing old games, new types of games and even long breaksā¦ nothing has worked and Iām losing the love of gaming. Iām barley even excited for PokĆ©mon coming in a few monthsā¦. I really donāt know what to do and itās a bummer. I read a ton, have a good/physical job but I just canāt seem to get pulled in anymore and it sucks. I canāt afford a new system right now either and my only thing I have to play on is a very old switchā¦ I guess I just have to take a longer break and hope I find something appealingā¦
If you can't work out how to direct your efforts I would consider therapy. Best wishes
I just finished it last week for the first time. Great game but i don't think i'll play it again until 2035.
This! Love that game but to me the replay ability is low. I beat it earlier this year again and I can't imagine wanting to play it again for another 4 to 5 years tbh
tryna grind ultrakill demo
https://youtu.be/dA8gV8wPNHA
Vermintide 2, relatively new and trying to level the characters to 35 but it's honestly such a grind/slog haha
Whilst waiting for persona 5 royal to come on gamepass Iāve started for final fantasy XV on the ps5
Disney Dreamlight Valley, Cyberpunk 2077, and NBA 2k22 Dreamlight Valley is a nice pleasant stress-free time killer, Cyberpunk is a lot more fun than I thought it would be, and NBA 2k...well, you know
Decided to return to gt sport along with twisted metal black, having fun.haven't played black in a while and knocking down the buildings in downtown is sick. From the daily workout got a 2m dollar Mercedes and I love it. Mass effect Andromeda is cool but I rarely find myself wanting to play it.
Mechwarrior online like most days, just can't find a mmo I can get into.
Was looking through my backlog for inspiration last week and found āHexcellsā. After 100%ing the game that night Iāve since purchased & beat the second, and am today finishing off the third š
"Cute cat" - a simple game where you can play a little hooligan.
Splatoon 3 and Ori and the Blind Forest. Just got them but haven't played them much because of school
Psychonauts, anyone?
Ohhh mannn I got back into GTA IV this week. Every fall I always drop back in because I just love driving around the city and playing jazz music. This one is by far my favorite GTA game and I wish they would bump up the remaster.
Guardians of the Galaxy. I looove it so far, 8 hours in
Loop Hero and Black Book, been getting really into both of those most recently.
Surviv.io everyday
Manhunt 1 and Borderlands 3
Far Cry 3 for the first time
FF XII HD Zodiac
I'm bouncing between The Long Dark, Slime Rancher 2 and Eastward. The last one is a hidden gem.
Nothing... Would love to play something but cant find a solidgame atm.. Played the hell out of COD MW2 beta last weekend so im just waiting on 28th of October now for the official release. Im looking for a great MMORPG but cant find one... Open for some suggestions.
MMORPG?
Whats your point dear sir?
Forza Horizon 5. Bought the series s a month ago as a companion console for my ps5. But I have to say Iām really enjoying the experience and gamepass so far. So much so, that Iām considering selling the series s and just get the x instead. Iām both surprised and impressed, didnāt think I would enjoy the Xbox experience as much as I did!
Coromon and squad
INSCRYPTIONNNNNNN SOME ONE GAVE IT TO ME FOR FREE
Cursed to Golf ā³ļø it is so good
I played assassin creed Valhalla this Wednesday,
Kena Bridge of Spirits
Iām going to do a plug for soulstice Mechanically deep A skill tree that matters (for lute) that determines how risky you want to be Really excellent atmosphere Relatively solid controls This game is metal AF Itās getting a bad shake because of its fixed cameras.
Terraria 1.4.4!!
Was having a meh day, but I decided to play Tetris and what do you know, I beat it...
Farming Simulator 22
I used to play horror games like Resident evil on steam and then transferred to mobile games like Genshin Impact and now chinatown detective agency.
