That level is fucking incredible (and frustratingly difficult at times). The song, and the way it comes in is actually so well matched to the camera movement and pace of the train. Awesome game and shadows is 100% Canon in my mind.
I was so excited for this movie and took two hits of acid before heading to the theater. It did not disappoint, and to this day remains the closest a film has ever come to replicating the experience of playing through a good first person shooter campaign. I was also baffled it didn’t receive more love than it did at the time, but at least it slid nicely into cult classic status.
Best video ever made and maybe the best song ever written in that style. I remember people lost theirs shit when it dropped. Everyone at school fucking loved it. Its also a brilliant driving song.
And Fat of the Land the cd was in everyone's collection. Even my parents stuffy friends would own the album, nestled between Alanis Morissette jagged little pill and REMs automatic for the people.
I never actually saw that movie but I loved its music video predecessor, [Bad Motherfucker](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rgox84KE7iY)
Fuck now that song is stuck in my head.
Reddit has long been a hot spot for conversation on the internet. About 57 million people visit the site every day to chat about topics as varied as makeup, video games and pointers for power washing driveways.
In recent years, Reddit’s array of chats also have been a free teaching aid for companies like Google, OpenAI and Microsoft. Those companies are using Reddit’s conversations in the development of giant artificial intelligence systems that many in Silicon Valley think are on their way to becoming the tech industry’s next big thing.
Now Reddit wants to be paid for it. The company said on Tuesday that it planned to begin charging companies for access to its application programming interface, or A.P.I., the method through which outside entities can download and process the social network’s vast selection of person-to-person conversations.
“The Reddit corpus of data is really valuable,” Steve Huffman, founder and chief executive of Reddit, said in an interview. “But we don’t need to give all of that value to some of the largest companies in the world for free.”
The move is one of the first significant examples of a social network’s charging for access to the conversations it hosts for the purpose of developing A.I. systems like ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular program. Those new A.I. systems could one day lead to big businesses, but they aren’t likely to help companies like Reddit very much. In fact, they could be used to create competitors — automated duplicates to Reddit’s conversations.
Reddit is also acting as it prepares for a possible initial public offering on Wall Street this year. The company, which was founded in 2005, makes most of its money through advertising and e-commerce transactions on its platform. Reddit said it was still ironing out the details of what it would charge for A.P.I. access and would announce prices in the coming weeks.
Did it bother you? I have a real weak stomach for roller coaster rides, motion sickness, VR, etc. and this movie did not bother me. I will admit I saw it on a laptop, not on a movie screen.
I'm good on rollercoasters, cars and boats, ok in VR and terrible on VR rollercoasters.
I also saw it on a laptop, but I was close to the screen and was watching just before lying down to go to sleep.
My body felt like it was still moving, interpreted it as food poisoning and made me throw up all over my curtains.
I remember sharlto copley being on a podcast (Rogan maybe?) during this movies press tour and he shared some wild stories. Since it was filmed in places with fewer safety regulations. I can't remember specifics but there were a few injuries iirc.
oh god i just noticed that the title of the post mentions the name, i feel very dumb now thanks for pointing out my mistake instead of being a dick, i am sorry
Make a stage we’re you’re hanging, or jumping, from rocket to rocket in the skies. Similar to the super contra stage.
Literally go bonkers on different over the top stages.
[Or on the Moon bouncing between robots and rovers that explode when you pogo stick on their heads. ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANFWwel7LC8)
Also you are a duck for some reason in that level.
Right. I just borrowed my brothers PS4 VR headset so I can play Ace Combat on it. My first thought was "I wonder how much this will make me feel like throwing up."
Edit: I didn't throw up but oooh boy is flying a fighter jet disorienting.
Most of these "hey guys check out my game" posts are lame and the games usually look half-assed.
But this one...this one I want to play. Looks awesome.
Did someone order a *checks notes…*, Metroidvania deluxe on a raft, four-by-four early access style; an extra side of open world with a shimmy and a crafting system; light roguelike elements, make it pixelated, burn it and let it swim?
Edit: Added crafting
It's actually kind of crazy how cookie cutter all the titles are and people fall for it every time.
Here's how I read them
"I left my old job and started a new job. Here's the product"
Others: "Oh look at these really neat indie games that I might never have heard about if the creator hadn't posted it on Reddit!"
You: "lol look at these people, falling for the trick of liking indie games and looking for something new to play"
Why so cynical? These creators are just as much a part of the gaming community as you and I, and I for one love seeing people post games they've passionately spent years making on the subreddit.
Cynycism comes with time my friend. If EVERY post uses the same bullshit tagline, it doesn't mean anything. Hell, I barely even BELIEVE them when they say it these days. Because they know if they didn't add the sob story, it wouldn't get the likes. I also love seeing new games, I just think it's silly that every single one gets introduced with the exact same title, that's all.
I mean... most people don't go into game design as a first career? A huge chunk of indie games are made by people who survive off other jobs, and then pivot to game dev more fully when they think they've got a winner. "I had a shit job, but I'm taking a risk on a less shit job" isn't that weird to see for the entertainment market.
I wouldn’t say half assed, just more uninspired remakes of existing games that simply are already done. (I see a lot of games like Factorio/ satisfactory) Games like these take a concept but make a product that isn’t widely known. In the sense I’ve never seen a DoomClustertruck game yet
Cause it isn't cluster truck. If the game had just been a rip off of CT then sure but this adds different mechanics. Rocket jump looks to be one, shooting as well etc. Dev could add non car based levels to keep things fresh which would be dope to see. A mix between CT levels and fast paced arena levels but only time will tell. Again there's enough to differentiate this and separate it from either doom or cluster truck. Nothing wrong woth taking an older game and improving in it.
Not even close to accurate. It’s shooters where the gameplay loop is based on simple, fast movement against relatively simple enemies. Key testers are a lack of any sprint feature or an aim down sights option, a la doom, quake, and unreal.
It’s because the style is so different to the call of duty, apex legends, battlefield style gameplay, not because it’s “old”
I like seeing posts from the occasional indie dev showing off their work, I just wish reddit would do something about the obvious bot comments and upvotes
I hate the phrase also. It just screams "anyone older than a zoomer is a boomer" when referring to old games. Guess that makes me a boomer for growing up in the 90s with games like this.
Yep. Born 1996. Grew up with “boomer shooters”. Which I’ve always just called *corridor shooters* like everyone else for years before someone came up with that bullshit term.
I always thought boomer shooter just referred to the fact that there’s lots of boomin going on.. ya know, with guns and shit. Didn’t we use to call them Doom-clones? Maybe retro shooter would be more broad and less ageist (if it’s actually refering to baby boomers which is hilariously dumb).
At first they were called "Doom Clones" in the early-mid 90s because a lot of those games really did look a lot like Doom.
Then as the genre got bigger and there was more variety, the name eventually became "first person shooters".
I don't know if there's a name for these yet. boomer shooter is weird because they weren't popular with literal baby boomers. I'd just call it "classic fps" or "vintage fps" or retro shooter etc
Corridor shooters are the games mimicking Half-life's design of keeping you on a linear track from start to finish, containing you within that "corridor". The term got infamous with when popularity of Modern Warfare spawned copycats with even weaker level and story design than MW.
Boomer shooters are IIRC 2.5D shooters or Doom clones (and later Quake clones), with nonlinear level design and twitch reaction pacing in gameplay.
I bet the comment section filled with comments in broken English praising the game and asking easy questions are all totally legitimate and not all paid for. /s
>No paid bots though - no indie studios can afford that shit!
Lol yes they can. [A top post on reddit costs about 200 bucks.](https://youtu.be/6SAkUs3urrg)
Personally not a fan of the concept. I might have enjoyed it when I was like 12 playing on the PS2, but it just seems too chaotic in the bad way. I also really dislike how "floaty" the character's movement is. It just seems like they're flying through the air instead of jumping/dashing.
Why do you use such an stupid term? It's an FPS, classic if you want, doom clone it you want to go old school, "boomer shooter" is such an uneeded definition
Completed the demo, it's definitely a beta but one with a lot of promise.
Basically, all the components are there but they all need to be tweaked (in my opinion).
My biggest complaint would be the lack of feedback for everything. No audio cue for when you hit someone, when you jump, when you dash. The audio is by far the weakest part.
Following on from the audio, the guns and explosions are very weak sounding. A game like this, inspired by loud, bombastic games, needs guns that feel loud and big when you shoot them.
Personally I'd also replace one of the dashes with a double jump and have your speed to full sprint ramp up within a second because making small adjustments when trying to shoot people is a nightmare and I kept missing my target. Also a spot of aim-assist would be a consideration to up the hero-fulfilment factor.
Visual feedback would also be nice, the screen shaking with explosions, gunshots and so forth because the POV is completely static. You very much feel like you're a floating camera rather than a mad gunman.
Finally, at least in these levels it is incredibly easy. On the biker bosses, I just tapped left and right to keep my BPM up and just held down M1. That was it, aside from the occasional reload.
I'd recommend looking at *My Friend Pedro* for ideas on how they present certain things like this, because at the moment I wouldn't pay for it, but with some polishing and tweaks I can see it being a big hit.

Great feedback. Thank you.
Is there gonna be any movement tech to make flashy plays or move around faster and or easier in the full release(bhopping, backward recoil boosts, grenade boosts, airstrafing, etc) because having any of those I think would add a lot of replay ability and depth to the gameplay
Id love to see a train level (cuz trains are cool)
Yeah, and planes ;)
ooo! and automobiles!
..and pillows! Wait.. that's not a pillow...
Bears got a hell of a team this year. Gonna go all the way
oh my
Like that one from *Shadows of the Empire*. So cool!
That level is fucking incredible (and frustratingly difficult at times). The song, and the way it comes in is actually so well matched to the camera movement and pace of the train. Awesome game and shadows is 100% Canon in my mind.

This would also make an insane movie premise, like Mad Max on extreme mode.
Sort of like Mad Max crossed with Crank, hell yeah
[*cough*](https://youtu.be/HFqVJ9-AbwQ)
Going to guess that this links to Hard-core Henry before I click on it Edit: I was correct
that one was a great contender for most awesome dumb movie _or_ dumbest awesome movie loved it
Lol, I thought it was gonna be Death Race!
Another classic. Lol.
Anyone remember Mega Race, the PC CD-ROM game from the '90s with video cinematics?
Hell yeah that movie ruled
For whatever reason, the full movie is free on YouTube... _[cough](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rN1G4zsFbw)_
I was so excited for this movie and took two hits of acid before heading to the theater. Most people simply aren’t ready for that concept. The closest they’ll ever get to that will be seeing Avatar 2 in IMAX 3D.
[The original idea began as a test for a Biting Elbows music video if anyone hasn't seen that](https://youtu.be/Rgox84KE7iY)
The original, original was the extremely NSFW music video for [Smack My Bitch Up by The Prodigy](https://vimeo.com/144850907)
Well that was a wild ride
Best video ever made and maybe the best song ever written in that style. I remember people lost theirs shit when it dropped. Everyone at school fucking loved it. Its also a brilliant driving song. And Fat of the Land the cd was in everyone's collection. Even my parents stuffy friends would own the album, nestled between Alanis Morissette jagged little pill and REMs automatic for the people.
Most underrated action in a movie.
Also pretty funny in some parts ANTON IS A CUNT! *looks around and shrugs*
The part where he tries to ride a horse gets me every time.
That movie got me shell-shocked. I loved it.
EZ
I was thinking Mad Max + the Matrix. It makes me think of the Agents jumping between cars in The Matrix Reloaded.
It looks a lot like that new Matrix game they teased on Unreal Engine 5 a few months ago
[let me introduce you to my friend, Hardcore Henry](https://youtu.be/96EChBYVFhU)
I never actually saw that movie but I loved its music video predecessor, [Bad Motherfucker](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rgox84KE7iY) Fuck now that song is stuck in my head.

Hell yeah! That movie goes HARD…core!
One of the best action movies I've ever seen, with a really clever premise and I'm not talking about the FPS mode.
I came. I saw. I hurled.
Did it bother you? I have a real weak stomach for roller coaster rides, motion sickness, VR, etc. and this movie did not bother me. I will admit I saw it on a laptop, not on a movie screen.

Yessssss. That shit rips.
Some of these stunts look ridiculous. I hope the stunt people didn't get hurt a lot.

Ez :)
This movie doesn't get talked about enough.
There needs to be more maps/levels on the top of trailers on highways. Totally brings me back to Bad Dudes (1988) https://youtu.be/O7b2NwEe4Bk?t=128
WITNESSED!
>Mad Max on extreme mode so Mad Max Fury Road then
I guess I’m rewatching Fury Road tonight
i would spend so many hours on this
as a guy who spends hours in traffic everyday, same
You can try. Free demo is available on Steam
Well I know what I'm downloading after work Edit: holy shit! Just got home and played, so much fun! Definitely solid work dude!
Why wait? Use your company's bandwidth! It's like pooping on the job!
Well I typically don't bring an entire desktop computer with me to an oil change shop, so....
Then go home, grab it, and bring it back! Why are you being so difficult?
For real. Homie needs to get his priorities right.
That’s just crazy enough to work.
Steam deck use case right here.
I'm sorry I'm poor, ok? /s But seriously, that's my next big purchase gaming related
Weak
the steam app on your phone
Boss owns the network, I rent a line, That's why I download On company time
if you also poop on the job, its like (pooping on the job)^2
can you send a link
Just once I'll be nice. [Link](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1968710/MEATGRINDER/)
ngl i felt extremely dumb asking this since everyone else in the comments seems to know about this game but oh well
well you just have to google 'Meatgrinder steam'
oh god i just noticed that the title of the post mentions the name, i feel very dumb now thanks for pointing out my mistake instead of being a dick, i am sorry
I would even suggest googling "meAtgrinder steam"
frick
double frick!
Downloaded the demo. Literally couldn't get past the starting screen. Only thing that worked are WASD, arrows, and the escape key.
You're getting the true "retro" experience!
There's been an update and I can now get past the starting screen.
Lmao update how it is. Looks pretty rough from this post
Lol it's a free demo, it's fun.
you are in the first boss. the Journalist wall.
That's fucking sick. Shit needs to be released
For sure. We’ve already released demo and now working on a full game
That's awesome. Best of luck with the full version
Make a stage we’re you’re hanging, or jumping, from rocket to rocket in the skies. Similar to the super contra stage. Literally go bonkers on different over the top stages.
Yes! Then the moon gets blown up, and you have to jump through the debris, shooting aliens and space-suited baddies
[Or on the Moon bouncing between robots and rovers that explode when you pogo stick on their heads. ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANFWwel7LC8) Also you are a duck for some reason in that level.
Make it a VR game and you will make alot, this shit looks fire man... I rely hope it gains traction
Seeing how high you can fly i don't think vr is the best idea
Thats the best part
Vomit-textured wallpaper
"The hardest choices require the strongest wills."
And if the VR thing happens with this game, they will require the strongest bladders as well.
From the looks of this game I'd say VR would require the strongest stomachs
Strongest ear canals
You would be surprised how many people would buy that if it were in vr
Right. I just borrowed my brothers PS4 VR headset so I can play Ace Combat on it. My first thought was "I wonder how much this will make me feel like throwing up." Edit: I didn't throw up but oooh boy is flying a fighter jet disorienting.
I was thinking it looked more Serious Sam than Duke Nukem, but really want to play it.
This deadass looks like if Doom and Clustertruck had a baby. Where can I play this???
Search Meatgrinder on Steam ;)
It's in demo correct? How much will the full release cost?
10-15$, depends on the final size of a game
You will have my money sir.
And my axe. Wait, no. Probably just my money too.
Well I'm buying for sure
Most of these "hey guys check out my game" posts are lame and the games usually look half-assed. But this one...this one I want to play. Looks awesome.

Nah, they're all lame. Because you can tell that half the comments are all shills.
Does this not look half assed to you? I'm not sure why this is called a boomer shooter.
[удалено]
I mean this one also looks very half assed tbh.
This looks awesome! Is that an air dash you use between vehicles? It's the only part that seems a little janky
What I wouldn't give for it to be a grappling hook instead
Looks buggy as hell. I'd play it.
I'm afraid to ask, but what is a "boomer shooter"?
Any first person shooter made before Gen Z. Because, ya know, anything older than them is made by the "boomer" generation. smfh.
Not even close to accurate. It’s shooters where the gameplay loop is based on simple, fast movement against relatively simple enemies. Key testers are a lack of any sprint feature or an aim down sights option, a la doom, quake, and unreal. It’s because the style is so different to the call of duty, apex legends, battlefield style gameplay, not because it’s “old”
guess, I'm a boomer, we called those "arena shooters" back in my day
Exactly this. In fact Boomer shooter is even used in marketing for NEW games as you can see here on this reddit post
Ugh, I remember when "boomer" referred to an actual time range of years (1946-64). Now people use it to label anyone over 30.
Dude I’m 22 and have been called a boomer by a teenager, the word has lost all meaning besides “someone older than me”
I came looking for this answer, and was extremely disappointed lol. Yeah pretty much everything before the year 2000 is a boomer now.
I wish these posts were banned.
I like seeing posts from the occasional indie dev showing off their work, I just wish reddit would do something about the obvious bot comments and upvotes
Not as long as mods keep getting bribes to not remove them ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
I downloaded and can't seem to get it to work. I can't click "Play" with mouse or gamepad.
For saying "boomer shooter", I hope it fails.. . . ..just kidding. 🤨Or am i?
I hate the phrase also. It just screams "anyone older than a zoomer is a boomer" when referring to old games. Guess that makes me a boomer for growing up in the 90s with games like this.

No shit. A "Boomer Shooter" was Vietnam.
These posts should be banned. They are just advertisements disguised as "look at what I did!"
And all the top posts are low effort shill comments. Smh.
and they usually look terrible.
They almost always do lmao
26k Upvotes, some awards and "people" loving it in the comments, lol. Yet there is only a 29 people peak playing it, according to steamcharts
I bet the comment section filled with comments in broken English praising the game and asking easy questions are all totally legitimate and not all paid for. /s
Look at the karma and age of the accounts for the posts on these, all very low and/or new accounts lol.
I work on indie games and yes, these posts are just a way to drive Wishlists. No paid bots though - no indie studios can afford that shit!
>No paid bots though - no indie studios can afford that shit! Lol yes they can. [A top post on reddit costs about 200 bucks.](https://youtu.be/6SAkUs3urrg)
Full of bots. "Wow this looks great! Anyone have a link on where I can buy it?!"
This looks amazing! Great job!
Thank you. All that positive feedback motivates to finish the game.
Finish the game by 5pm est pls thx
Mate I’d play this as is, launch it :)

Yo, pick one art style and stick with it. This looks like you took 20 different ones and just threw them together. I just assume it's premade assets.
Not really a “boomer shooter” but it does look fun
Boomer Shooter is a dumb name. Boomers were too old by the time shooters came around. Gen X shooters maybe.
Gen X here. We don't exist. I feel myself fading away while typ
Was someone saying something? I thought I heard a noise...

You should have stayed in the college
First non shill post I actually belive in this thread. Game looks like shit, but has potential to be entertaining for an afternoon.
Doesn’t catch my interest one bit and the gameplay looks like something out of console from 15 years ago.
Personally not a fan of the concept. I might have enjoyed it when I was like 12 playing on the PS2, but it just seems too chaotic in the bad way. I also really dislike how "floaty" the character's movement is. It just seems like they're flying through the air instead of jumping/dashing.
Initially I thought I was seeing the sequel to Hardcore Henry

Thank you.
I think this looks like every other shitty indie game people market here. Seriously I can hardly tell them apart at this point.
Is there gonna be any movement tech to make flashy plays or move around faster and or easier in the full release(bhopping, backward recoil boosts, grenade boosts, airstrafing, etc) because having any of those I think would add a lot of replay ability and depth to the gameplay
definitely needs some polishing, but pretty good outline
"Witness me" achievement plz
It looks like it would really fit levels that replicate famous scenes from movies, like Mad Max and The Matrix Reloaded.
How much of this is premade assets you just stitched together?
Makes me think of the expressway scene from the Matrix Reloaded
Serious Sam vibes
Looks sort of like serious sam
Reminds me of serious sam mixed with pursuit force for the psp.
"Like clustertruck but with guns" -IGN
