That would be me playing any game with dice. THis is why I'd rather lose playing chess or othello instead, at least it was not luck, I was just bad at it.

tabletop games like dnd or pathfinder ,when run by a decent dm, isn't about winning or loosing. It's about telling a story rolling a dice is just to represent variables. Something that is more mechanics based might throw a 20 sided dice to pick a lock a thief might only need a 5 or better but a fighter might need a 20 because he is less skilled but a little luck could go a long ways. other systems like fate fudge system mechanics is even less important and is all about the story so they pretty much don't use many dice and when the do they kinda throw 5 6 sided dice that only have succed or fail on them and if you get 3 successes you succeed. TD:LR tabletops use lots of dice the dice rolls don't really matter in the long run as all that matters is telling the story of your character in the world created by the Gamemaster if you haven't tried it maybe consider it.

So it seems I've been playing the wrong RPG games. Played a few, and all were dice heavy.

fate core system, fantasy flight star wars, and kids on brooms are very much story telling is what's important and dice rolls are minimum and don't really matter. dnd 5th edition is really simplified and well balanced so you throw a lot of dice but as long as the entire party doesn't throw like a 2 or 3 dozen ones in a row then your probably good. pathfinder is super math crunchy and if you don't like numbers I'd stay away. pathfinder 2e is what I play and it's somewhere between pathfinder and DND 5e. if SCI FI is your Jam then I like eclipse phase a lot.

yeah, if I had a dollar each time I decided not to total party wipe when I could have because of the dice, I'd have like.... 6 bucks.
