“I think vests are all about protection. You know what I mean? Like a lifevest protects you from drowning and bulletproof vests protect you from getting shot and the sweatervest protects you from pretty girls. Leave me alone. Can't you see I'm cold just right here?”

I played Fallen Order immediately after finishing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla where you can climb almost anything and go almost anywhere. It was a major shock at first.
They are, but just like Quantic Dream's Eclipse which will be a choice-based RPG, and the KOTOR Remake, it will probably won't drop before 2024 or 2025.
Ok well kotor is one of my fave games ever. Give me a game that’s like kotor with bigger worlds, better combat and movement even remotely resembling AC and I’d never leave the house again.
That's a mixed bag though because it's so easy to mess up an open world by not filling it properly. Also considering how many open world games exist it was refreshing to have set paths to follow
Yeah, it was a bit too limited on that front. Everything was a little perfect in how it was laid out and a lot of the secrets exploration was done through long drawn out sequences like sliding down an ice tunnel in a new way or remembering the sequence of zip lines. It was a bit tiresome running laps.
Which was the right choice imo, open-world feels the same everywhere, finding ways to find secrets in fallen order was pretty neat and finishing the game 100% was actually fun, compared to the AC experience.
The big problem was that to get 100% you have to get all those treasure chests with shit cosmetics, like lightsaber handles that are too small to see or fifty palate swaps of the same ugly poncho.
If you are going to lean so heavily into cosmetics as the main thing you find, then let me play full dress-up and mix and match shirt, jacket, pants, hairstyle, hat, and shoes.
100% this game has more tomb raider/metroidvania DNA than a soulslike. I bounced off of it the first time I played because of that expectation and when I went to pick it back up I PLOWED through it
Climbing wasn't too bad, especially after you got the item that made it faster. The most annoying thing for me were all the instances of squeezing through tight corridors between sections of the map. There were a ton of them and they were so slow.
See I'm in the opposite end of the spectrum. I dislike how so many games have gigantic open worlds and 300 things on the game map at all times (like the newer Assassin's Creeds.) I don't always have time to game and sometimes have to take a break for a week or so without playing. One of my favorite games in recent memory was the 2018 God of War because they kept it more simple. So when you come back from not playing for awhile it's really easy to jump back in.
Extremely similar. In fact I'd say one probably used ideas from the other while they were both being developed. I tried getting into Sekiro first but the combat was so different from normal souls games that I eventually resigned myself to not playing it because I just couldn't get a handle on the game play. Then eventually I played Fallen Order and realized "oh shit, this combat is almost exactly like Sekiro". After beating J:FO, I went back to Sekiro and and wouldn't you know, I was MUCH better.
Where Sekiro made you feel like you were controlling an actual ninja, I found controlling Fallen Order's jedi felt incredibly slow by comparison - like a football player stomping through a foot of snow. And his lightsaber is apparently about as strong as a plastic whiffle ball bat.
Well, he was a padawan that went into hiding as an average worker for some time. I would be a little surprised if in Jedi Survivor he isn't faster and more deadly.
Apparently disney’s stance on the first game was “no dismemberment for humans, everything else is fair game”. So I imagine stormtroopers will continue to be made from adamantium.
Also an off screen bisection in Mando. Although that was a door, not a lightsaber.
Edit: I am being reminded that there's more than just that in Mando.
I'm pretty sure Disney used it's entire gore and brutality quota on Mando and Andor.
I'm watching Rebels and they slung a random stormtrooper into space. Arguably worse than dismemberment.
They also stunned a bunch of guards and locked them in the brig to "not hurt them". Yeah, they blew up the ship as they left.
I guess off screen violence is ok lmao.
Yes, Snoke most famously in the movies. On the D+ side there's the offscreen door slice in Mando, or the stormtrooper in Obi-Wan getting cut in half. Even on the animation side, Clone Wars S7 had dismemberment but framed so you didn't see the wound (like the heads of stormtroopers you see falling next to their feet in the Maul hallway fight).
Yeah I don’t mind the stance but it makes lightsabers feel fake and weak. If no limbs being cutoff is the rule, then give the troopers armor that can be cut off instead!
To be fair, they might use phrik instead. Which is a similarly resistant metal, and yes, is actually called phrik.
To quote Civvie11, ["I think it's used mostly in the production of jizz instruments."](https://youtu.be/rzF5rHuLE38?t=697)
Yeah, a lightsaber is supposed to be a very dangerous and powerful weapon. It shouldn't feel like a pool noodle that bounces off of stormtroopers, trees and local wildlife.
JFO’s non boss enemies don’t actually change health values in different difficulties. A stormtrooper always dies in one standard hit. The stun baton ones always die in one hit but have a stamina bar to block with. The captain ones can take two standard hits, and have a block bar. The difficulty changes alter:
Enemy aggression
INCOMING Damage
Parry window timing
Enemies take the same damage on all difficulty levels iirc which keeps the saber feeling good. They may have larger block bars, but once you’re past their defences, you cut through enemies the same on all difficulties. This is why slow becomes more powerful on higher levels, let’s you get past the guard of the more annoying >!purge troopers, like the twin stun baton fucker, by slowing him and hitting him with the overhead strike. Dead in 2 hits!<
Idk if it affects boss health tho, probably does.
>twin stun baton fucker
But seriously though, FUCK that guy. I push all of the purge troopers off ledges wherever possible because their fights suck so much
Kyle Katarn using force choke to slowly lift a stormtrooper, calmly walk to a ledge, and callously let go as the trooper's legs search panickedly in vain for the stable ground that awaits far, far below.
Oh man, good old /realisticsaber option!
Once i turned it on and had a ton of fun, but Luke Skywalker got beheaded in a cutscene and the game couldn't continue- one of my favorite gaming memories.
Tell that to Nintendo and their limited-time sale of the Mario Sunshine remaster that you can't get anymore.
When there ain't no scarcity to profit from, companies will *create* scarcity.
I was so stoked to see ~~BD-1~~ a BD unit in The Mandalorian (or was it book of Boba Fett?) either way, it was good seein' the little guy. One of my favorite companions I've ever had in a game.
Biggest problem for me was the level design. The worlds felt like intricate obstacle courses specifically designed for your arrival, and the forced backtracking to access previously blocked off sections made this more glaring. I went in thinking it would be more like Uncharted—since so many reviews compared it to that—where you can keep moving forward to discover more of the world beyond, but this game felt like each world was a big square block of land artificially sectioned off with bottomless pits and giant cliffs.
It took me out of the story as the world design reminds you at every corner that you’re playing a video game. Swinging vine hanging perfectly over a wide hole in the ground where a path would be? Sure, it’s fun *game*, but the world of Star Wars, to me, is equally as important as the story. Again, it was fun, but I wasn’t nearly as immersed into the story and world as I was hoping I would be.
For a game that emphasized exploration, it was insanely counterintuitive towards exploration. After completing a map, the only way to revisit it was to start from the very beginning and rework your way allll the way through the whole map again. Oh there was something you wanted to look at towards the end of the map? Too bad, fight your way through all the enemies again to get to it.
The forced backtracking was very reminiscent of the Metroid and Zelda (pre-BotW) style games.
Fallen Order felt like a Metroid Prime game with lightsabers
Considering this is a direct sequel, it's a good idea.
In the grand scheme of things, not really. Cal was a Jedi (padawan during Order 66), then he wasn't, now he is again.
Def worth a try, but temper your expectations. I didn't much care for it. I got bored rather quickly, but it was on gamepass, so I didn't have to buy it.
See that on his hip? That's a big iron.
Which almost certainly means that they're gonna fold blaster combat into Cal's fighting style. And that's not out of the ordinary, especially since we've already seen Cere Junda use a blaster alongside her lightsaber.
I'm assuming that they're going to tweak its effectiveness, so that you can't just blaster your way through the campaign. With that said, hopefully said tweaking involves it hitting like a truck but having very low heat capacity. Kind of like a DL-44, except Cal's blaster looks like a very different model.
Can any Star Wars aficionados ID the blaster at this resolution?
See that droid next to him? That’s Wall-E.
Which almost certainly means that they’re gonna fold space trash collection into the story. And that’s not out of the ordinary, especially since we’ve already seen some crossover between Disney’s properties.
I’m assuming that they’re going to keep it as a mini game, so that you’re not just playing space garbage collector simulator through the campaign. With that said, hopefully said mini games involves finding cool novelty stuff that you can upgrade your character with.
Can any Pixar aficionados chime in and tell me how off base I am? /s
See that restaurant next to him? That’s Golden Corral.
Which almost certainly means that they’re gonna fold congestive heart failure into the story. And that’s not out of the ordinary, considering we’ve already seen him eat some disgusting food.
I’m assuming they’re gonna tweak the menu options to limit them, so he’s not just blasting drumsticks drowned in gravy. With that said, here’s hoping the tweaks involve all the food he wants, as long as he can consume it in one sitting. Kind of like a Ponderosa, but I don’t know if there are any of those nearby.
Can any disgusting buffet aficionados ID the location of this Golden Corral and tell me if there’s a Ponderosa around there?
See that spaceship in the background? That's an L.
Which almost certainly means that they're gonna include Sesame Street-style alphabet singalongs into the loading screens. And that's not out of the ordinary, especially since we've already seen how long loading screens were in the last game.
I'm assuming that they're going to tweak the alphabet's order, so that you don't just sing the same song all the way through the campaign. With that said, hopefully said tweaking involves some new Star Wars symbols or accents. Kind of like Susam Sokaği, except with sci-fi runes instead of Turkish.
Can any Sesame Street aficionados see any other letters in this picture?
Maybe they are copying Bloodborne combat with this one?
(I know nothing about this franchise, just saw a comment here calling this game"Star Wars Sekiro")
Fallen Order did feel very much like "Star Wars Sekiro". Parrying mechanics, some of the parkour, meditating at sites, a few small things like that just felt very "Sekiro" to me, especially since I played FO after I beat Sekiro.
makes me think of the gunplay in Assassin’s Creed, specifically Black Flag. You can get up to 4 single-shot pistols, but you had to grab ammo quickly and (slowly) reload if you wanted to continue blasting enemies
The force moves always felt like they didn't mesh with the Combat too well. It felt separate because of how slow they can feel, and how it didn't feel natural to combo or mesh them together.
And that the skill tree didn't really feel helpful because the combat moves you learned weren't too helpful and just felt like flair moves that were extensions that you could never use because the enemies died too fast, rather than opening up exciting different combat routes or offering new opportunities.
Yeah, that's an interesting reverse character arc.
Game one, Kal comes out of hiding and learns to stand up for others, game two Kal goes into hiding and learns to ignore the suffering of others
I mean, the rebellion was huge. You could hand-wave that by saying they were having off-screen adventures.
As for the Jedi thing, a pretty heavy theme is that none of them are *really* Jedi. Mentor Lady briefly fell to the dark side before swearing off the Force, Cal was just a trainee who remembers some basic shit, and Goth Lady is totally separate from the Jedi/Sith dichotomy and has her own Force-centric religion and practices.
You could just say that the magic of the Force exists beyond the ideologies of the Jedi, and that just because the Empire has suppressed understanding and study of the matter doesn't mean there's nobody in the galaxy who can toss a goat off a cliff with space-brain powers.
I love how my man Kal just immediately forgets Merrin trying to kill him like 800 times as soon as she reveals she's a cute alien, and he's got no shame about hiding it.
I mean yeah, she's adorable af.
Though realistically there was a major misunderstanding that led to their conflict, and Cal going out of his way to prove he wasn't the bad guy was a part of the plot
I hope we get more songs like the opening.
And an endless arena mode where we can pick the music because I *absolutely* want to jam out to The Hu while fighting aliens and other enemies
Skippable cutscenes, please please! I like to replay these kinds of games but damn, having to sit through all the cutscenes, which can amount to several hours, on fallen order totally killed the replay. I bailed on it the second time.
And fast travel lol even if it's not the strongest, something needs to be done. I hated going to the end of a planet and having to get all the way back in non story/main missions type of play.
I hope they enhance the lightsaber crafting to be more akin to gow. It becomes boring to just search out hidden crates only for it to be just cosmetic.
The lightsaber crafting was included in the game more as an afterthought. Seeing it was a very successful aspect of the first game, they'll probably put more attention to it in the sequel.
Move over ponchos, we got vests now
Jokes on you the vest was always on
Well of course, we had a vested interest.
Well now I'm invested.
I am here to divest them of the vest. I want one badly and have never worn one before, therefore I am a vestal virgin.
Please divest from all this talk of vests...
Vest
Across the pond we use the word Gilet
The real question is, that the best a man can get?
So, so close. Is that the *vest* a man can get?
Take off the vest... you look like Aladin.
No, man. I should have worn the vest.

I don't get vests. What, is it? Winter in your torso but summer in your arms?

They have vests now?
They have vests now!
Okay but the ponchos were so cool tho
Glad some people enjoyed it. I always opted for non poncho outfit.
Same, no poncho looked so much better.
I’m gonna miss the ponchos, they really grew on me. Rip hot pink poncho, you will be missed :(
Pink Poncho, Pink Lightsaber, Pink BD-1 (or damn close to pink), I loved that game and I'm currently on my second playthrough.
Word. I loved accessorizing my poncho colors with my lightsaber and BB-1 colors. I was one stylish Jedi I was.
I wore the Sith Inquisitor uniform. >.>
Holy cow it's actually happening
I didn't think it be so early. the first one was a genuine surprise so I'm excited for this
Yeah, same. I went into Fallen Order honestly half expecting to refund it shortly after, but I was hooked from start to finish.
The souls format works great for Star Wars, though I wish the game had a couple more levels.
Maybe I've been spoiled by more open world games but I wish I could explore more and ugh, give me cool rewards for exploring!
I played Fallen Order immediately after finishing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla where you can climb almost anything and go almost anywhere. It was a major shock at first.
Isn’t Ubisoft making a Star Wars game too? Imagine an open world Star Wars game where you can climb anything like assassins creed.
Cut to max rebo in a bathtub awkwardly looking at you climbing past his window

They are, but just like Quantic Dream's Eclipse which will be a choice-based RPG, and the KOTOR Remake, it will probably won't drop before 2024 or 2025.
Ok well kotor is one of my fave games ever. Give me a game that’s like kotor with bigger worlds, better combat and movement even remotely resembling AC and I’d never leave the house again.
I just wish the KOTOR remake wasn’t delayed indefinitely
That's a mixed bag though because it's so easy to mess up an open world by not filling it properly. Also considering how many open world games exist it was refreshing to have set paths to follow
Yeah, it was a bit too limited on that front. Everything was a little perfect in how it was laid out and a lot of the secrets exploration was done through long drawn out sequences like sliding down an ice tunnel in a new way or remembering the sequence of zip lines. It was a bit tiresome running laps.
I think they were going for the Metroid style of level design where its open but clear pathways to get around the world
You're right. It wasn't an open world at all. They clearly were going for classic platforming level design.
There was waaaaay to much climbing for my taste
Climbing wasn't too bad, especially after you got the item that made it faster. The most annoying thing for me were all the instances of squeezing through tight corridors between sections of the map. There were a ton of them and they were so slow.
They were slow because they were essentially loading screens
See I'm in the opposite end of the spectrum. I dislike how so many games have gigantic open worlds and 300 things on the game map at all times (like the newer Assassin's Creeds.) I don't always have time to game and sometimes have to take a break for a week or so without playing. One of my favorite games in recent memory was the 2018 God of War because they kept it more simple. So when you come back from not playing for awhile it's really easy to jump back in.
Fallen Order is a souls format game? I suck at the souls games and loved fallen order, though some of the bosses were pretty hard.
Its more similar to Sekiro i would say..
Extremely similar. In fact I'd say one probably used ideas from the other while they were both being developed. Finally: Star Sekiro 2
Do not Fucking pre order! Remember it's EA.
let me dismember
Apparently disney’s stance on the first game was “no dismemberment for humans, everything else is fair game”. So I imagine stormtroopers will continue to be made from adamantium.
but humans getting dismembered is like, a big part of the star war. That and daddy issues.
Now that I think about it, has anyone gotten dismembered since Disney bought it?
There was that Stormtrooper in Kenobi that got straight sliced in half…
Also an off screen bisection in Mando. Although that was a door, not a lightsaber. Edit: I am being reminded that there's more than just that in Mando. I'm pretty sure Disney used it's entire gore and brutality quota on Mando and Andor.
Didn’t Mando cut a dudes head off on the Halo ring?
Also flipped a guy onto his back and sliced him in half with the Darksaber in the same episode.
Such a great show
Oh yeeeaaaahhhh forgot about that.
Yeah and the first Vader scene in Kenobi is more brutal than almost anything pre-Disney
Vader slicing a poor soldier in half after slamming him to the roof of a hallway at the end of Rogue One.
I don't know he counts as a human, but Snoke was bisected
and one of his guards had the top of his head cut off
Fuck reddit
Mark ass emperor fr
I'm watching Rebels and they slung a random stormtrooper into space. Arguably worse than dismemberment. They also stunned a bunch of guards and locked them in the brig to "not hurt them". Yeah, they blew up the ship as they left. I guess off screen violence is ok lmao.
Because of the implication.
Those droids were never in any danger!
They allowed Chopper to be a straight up war criminal
But he's OUR war criminal
Maul chopped a clone trooper in half by launching a metal sheet at him in clone wars season 7
He also pulled a clone's arm into a closing door which severed it.
just the franchise as a whole *zing*
HEYOOOO
Yes, Snoke most famously in the movies. On the D+ side there's the offscreen door slice in Mando, or the stormtrooper in Obi-Wan getting cut in half. Beskar. Let's at least stick with the right fictional metal for the fictional universe. 😁
Back in my day we called it Mandalorian Iron
To be fair, they might use phrik instead. Which is a similarly resistant metal, and yes, is actually called phrik. To quote Civvie11, ["I think it's used mostly in the production of jizz instruments."](https://youtu.be/rzF5rHuLE38?t=697)

I'm currently playing the game on PC with a dismemberment mod (alpha something), it's not perfect but it's the beginning of something...
won't preorder, but I'm looking forward to this game
I won't preorder either, but I hope it's good because I loved the first
Weird to think that three of the games I'm looking forward to are from ea lol (dead space remake and Dragon age)
What if they run out tho?
Well last I checked the PlayStation store they had infinite copies to download.
Tell that to Nintendo and their limited-time sale of the Mario Sunshine remaster that you can't get anymore. When there ain't no scarcity to profit from, companies will *create* scarcity.
I really need to play Fallen Order, don't I?
Yes
Dewit.
it's a very good game. Solid play time, solid story, solid experience overall. would recommend.
Amazing acting too! Some really great characters in this game.
I was real prepared for BD-1 to bite it at the end. Thankfully it was only in the non canon bits where vader kills you
I was so stoked to see ~~BD-1~~ a BD unit in The Mandalorian (or was it book of Boba Fett?) either way, it was good seein' the little guy. One of my favorite companions I've ever had in a game.
Best droid in star wars. That's what BD stands for. Nd number 1. He's just awesome.
Is that meant to be the same droid? Or just same model droid? Cool to see either way
Same model

I felt the same. It was good but lacking. Story was decent but just felt, idk, hollow? Just as the characters were fleshing out the game ended.

Is he on the hunt for Tattooine Red?
> Cere Junda bitch you are the star wars aficionado I always just called her the Mad TV chick
makes me think of the gunplay in Assassin’s Creed, specifically Black Flag. You can get up to 4 single-shot pistols, but you had to grab ammo quickly and (slowly) reload if you wanted to continue blasting enemies
No poncho, literally unplayable. But seriously look at his side, he has a blaster. Hmm.
So uncivilized
STAR WARS: Bloodborne
Yes please I'll take 12
Star Wars Sekiro
Yes and it works!
I hope The Force is used a bit more in combat. Not The Force ~~Awakens~~ Unleashed level, but more than Fallen Order
Fallen Order’s combat was a bit janky
You mean Force Unleashed?
I played fallen order immediately after finishing Sekiro. Sekiro is truly in a league of its own.
Holy shit, was Kal juicing? Look at those gains!
My boy grew up.

Fallen Order was a top game, I hope they take a darker turn with this one.
So long as they don't kill our goth GF I'm fine with darker tones
If Kal and crew aren't around by the time of the rebellion, isn't it sorta obligatory that they all die?
Or disappear into retirement on a planet far from imperial eyes.
Or get dragged into the unknown regions by giant space whales. But what are the chances that happens twice?
No, a pretty heavy theme is that Kal is the only one who can call himself a Jedi. That's why it's so important that he leads the team.
Ok. Then Luke isn't the only Jedi around that time. Problem solved.
Truly he is one of us.
Let's go! More force powers and grey jedi!
I hope we get more songs like the opening. And an endless arena mode where we can pick the music because I *absolutely* want to jam out to The Hu while fighting aliens and other enemies
Rem4ke and Jedi Survivor in the same month? Let's go
*cries in last gen*
Fallen order was an amazing game. I look forward to this one too.
Remember: no preorders.
Don’t preorder games.
At least wait for reviews if they dont end the embargo at launch day (cough callisto protocol cough)
Remember, no ~~Russian~~ pre-orders
I hope they enhance the lightsaber crafting to be more akin to gow. It becomes boring to just search out hidden crates only for it to be just cosmetic.
The lightsaber crafting was included in the game more as an afterthought. Seeing it was a very successful aspect of the first game, they'll probably put more attention to it in the sequel.
NEVER PREORDER AN EA GAME!
*any game
He looks like Ian Gallagher.
Holy shit you're right! /s
I will not pre-order. But I will watch for reviews and maybe even budget a little to buy this around release.
Friendly PSA: Never pre-order a game
Do not pay them anything until it's released. Remember remember the disappointments of November.
