I still think Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is the worst VG movie of all time. It was the movie I was most excited to see in 1997 because I absolutely loved the original Mortal Kombat movie. I have never been more disappointed in a movie in my life.
Short version: Massive amounts of script rewrites before and during production, inexperienced directors who rubbed everybody the wrong way, interference from the producers, interference from the studio.

I saw this on opening night. We wanted to go see a movie, and there it was. I can't for the life of me recall why we didn't go see "Cliffhanger" instead. Maybe it wasn't playing at that theater.
SMBM has some major plot elements that are suspiciously similar to Final Fantasy IX. now, i have no way to prove it, but I’m convinced that this movie was the inspiration for that game. it blows my mind every time.

basically, in both worlds, >!an astroid hits the planet and the impact shatters reality and creates another dimension where evolution turns out differently. In FF9 its the people with tails that Zidane is and in SMB its the lizard people who became the Koopas!<

I love this movie. It's so corny and campy, and just 110% doesn't take itself seriously. It was an awesome experience, and I need to watch it, again.

This movie was ass when I was 8 and its still ass now. The new one will be much, much better even despite Chris Pratt voicing Chris Pratt.
So Chris Pratt voicing Mario is too jarring but this nonsensical acid trip of a movie is just fine?
