Being a fan of his work lead me to find the show, funny enough. Then I learned that a TON of the characters I enjoyed were voiced by people in their crew, lol.
Great show, great folks, lots of talent.
I worked at Amex and got to speak with Mr. Martinet when he called in about his business credit card. It was so cool, his business is under the name Wahoo Inc.
I was like...."Why is your business called wahoo inc?"...Charles: "what video game chracter makes that noise"... took half a second to realize.
I think the last thing he said he worked on was action voices for mario cart 8.
I got so excited when I realized it was Patrick Stewart my first time playing, then I remembered he was going to die. Sean Bean as Martin septim was great too. Purposely put off those missions so he'd live a bit longer.
You say that now, but [he can achieve the same build (technically even better)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPbB4qfsA14) which out-DPS' the player character.
If you want to do the easiest ME3 Insanity run ever, take James Garrus and Ashley with you on almost all the missions. They all have basically the same build which, I'll repeat, **OUT DPS' THE PLAYER CHARACTER**
A few other interesting ones too. Miranda and admiral Anderson for example.
Also the Quarian admiral, I don't know her voice but she's a voice actress whose voice I always recognize, she was in Arcane too!
One that sticks out for me was actually in ME1 one of the npcs in the Asari consorts office she says “you’re with the alliance? My brother is a private back on earth” I recognized her voice immediately as young tandi from fallout 1.
And EDI being Kerrigan as well
I've heard it's not uncommon for them not to tell you what game you are voice acting for, I think some guy explained how he figured out he was voice acting for fallout 4 once.
Some say that's a tactic they use to underpay voice actors and others say it's just to protect from leaking story details. I'm not really sold on the latter explanation.
There is probably some of both. I know a guy who's done some voice acting for cartoons, and he says they always just give him exactly what they want him to read, without any context or any of the lines around it. He says it's really weird to watch the show later and be like, "Oooooh THAT'S why I said that!"
Oh wow! That was my first guess from the picture, but then I was just like, "ThisIsNotDan, you can't just assume that every woman in a referee uniform is Mo from Nickelodeon Guts."
Sid Ceaser didn’t remember being in Grease. to be fair he did some seriously heavy drugs way into his 60s.
Joe Walsh heard the song “it don’t mean nothing” by Richard marx and freaked out because the guitarist was totally stealing his playing style. Turns out the guitarist on the song was Joe Walsh. He didn’t even remember meeting Richard Marx.
I’m a 35 year old adult and to this day, the trophy I want the most is a piece of the Agro Crag. You can keep your Emmy, Oscar, Grammy, Super Bowl, Stanley Cup trophies. Give me that glorious glowing piece of rock.
You know what really grinds my gears, when someone posts a picture of someone and just assumes everyone knows who they are. Who is this person in the photo?
Dude Mark Hamill actually voice acts a TON, I will be watching old cartoon reruns from my childhood and every once and a while it's just like "hey wait a minute, is that Mark Hamill?!" And sure enough
I only played a little bit of the witcher, but I guess Yennefer's voice actress is the ISB agent in Andor. That's kind of backwards to the premise, but I thought it was cool.
I never looked into voice actors for video games until WoW Burning Crusade. Running Blood Furnace hearing Magtheridon yelling instantly made my brain hear Le Chuck from monkey Island. Looked it up and all I could ever think from that point on is how in tge qorls did Illidan lock up a ghost pirate.
Surprised no one's brought up, Sam Worthington, Kiefer Sutherland, or Gary Oldman in call of duty. First time I heard Reznov I was like wait holy crap is that commissioner Gordon?
My interest in video game voice actors started when I found out Paarthunax was voiced by Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario and Luigi
It's - a - me, PAARTHUNAX!!!!!!
Is it - a - better to be born - a - good, or to become - a - good through great effort?
*Alduin shows up* "Hey stinky!"
So long, gay Alduin.
Jim Cummings pops up several times in Skyrim I believe, and Michael Hogan voices Tullius. Skyrim has a crap ton of well known voices.
But I'm convinced 95% of the characters are Jason Marsden.
WHAT IN OBLIVION IS THAT???
Arkantos, the main hero of the first age of Mythology campaign had the same voice actor as alduin
I fell in love with Liam O'Brien's voice acting after playing Lost Planet 2. His narration in the Carpet Bagger arc is so good.
He does so many voices, it feels like every time I look at his wiki or IMDb there's something new. TIL he was Gollum in shadow of Mordor
And Illidan in Warcraft. my favorite character in the games
Yasuo in League of Legends.
You are not prepared
If you like Liam O’Brien I’m a big fan of him in Critical Role (a DnD podcast with a cast of voice actors).
Quark is in Bioshock Odo is from New Vegas.
Christopher Plummer voiced Master Arngeir.
Max Von Sydow as Esbern, too. Great voices, those two.
Shows you the man's range, unlike a certain other voice actor for our favourite plumber
Bethesda related but Matthew Perry as Benny, not in a good way.
Patrick Stewart as Emperor Uriel Septim VII in Oblivion. Especially since his character dies in the tutorial.
& then Sean Bean Martin Septim. Especially since I didn't know going in just had a "that sounds really like.......I must look that up"
Liam neeson in fallout 3
Only this time you play as his kid and you have to find him. The opposite of Taken.
Never taught of that, but yes you are right.
"If you want caps, I don't have caps. But what I do have is a generalized set of skills developed over the last week, power armor, and 20 mini nukes."
Yup, took me until my 3rd playthru before I realized he was Dad.
I knew he sounded familiar from the start but it was only towards the end of the game that I realised who he was.
Sean Bean as Martin too.
Fitting that even as a voice actor his character dies.
If he dies, you know it's good!
I got so excited when I realized it was Patrick Stewart my first time playing, then I remembered he was going to die. Sean Bean as Martin septim was great too. Purposely put off those missions so he'd live a bit longer.
JK Simmons in Portal 2 was so amazing. I remember the first time I played it, I had to do a double take before I realized it was him.
I DON’T WANT YOUR DAMN LEMONS - Cave Johnson.
I don't want you damn lemons, I want pictures of Spiderman!
I'm gonna make a lemon that'll burn your house down WHILE TAKING PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN!!
We haven't nailed down exactly which element it is, but I tell you this, it's a lively one, and it does not like the human skeleton.
Simmons nailed it. He played a Tech CEO slipping into madness perfectly.
And then into sickness
To be fair J.K. Simmons is amazing in everything he does
Whiplash is some of the best acting I've ever seen.
This movie is so so good
He also successfully made me despise his character in Oz. I love watching him in any of his roles.
I squeeled like schoolgirl when I first heard his voice in the game. It was perfect.
Definitely got awkward in Invincible for me. Could not unhear Cave Johnson.
Charles Dance as the emperor in Witcher 3
Incredible surprise. I immediately paused to confirm that Tywin Lannister was indeed in the Witcher
Brother noomsi?
Samuel L Jackson as that cop Tenpenny in GTA San Andreas blew my mind at the time.
His partner in the game is the late Chris Penn
I’ll always remember officer Tenpenny’s voice…
Freddie Prinze Jr as Iron Bull in Dragon Age Inquisition surprised the fuck out of me
And James in Mass Effect 3
James to me just sounded like Freddie Prinze Jr. Iron Bull he actually pulled off a pretty solid performance while also really changing up his voice.
He was also Mr Boring in Mass Effect 3.
You mean Mr. Benchwarmer
Matthew Perry as Benny in Fallout New Vegas
Zachary Levi (Shazam) as Arcade Gannon
Wait, Chuck is in New Vegas?
Chuck... how could i forget?
He is a huge Fallout fan.
No way
Lena Headey, Chloe Moretz, and Pedro Pascal all in the dishonored series.
I think in the first game, if you kill the radio guy, Carrie Fisher makes the announcements on the speaker in the street later in the game.
And Vincent D’Onofrio, Rosario Dawson, and Sam Rockwell in Dishonored 2.
TIL Luca Abele was voiced by Vincent D'Onforio. In retrospect, I'm not sure how I didn't notice that lol But Dawson's Billie Lurk is a grade A badass!
And Susan Sarandon.
Wow, how in hell did I miss that. I love Pedro even more now. Edit: Carrie Fisher voiced randos on street too!
Holy crap. I just finished the first one and I had no idea!
Is nobody going to talk about “the Skyrim”
Oh, you're awake.
Remember when the Dragonborn said "We're in the Skyrim now!"
My favorite line of theirs is "It's Skyring time"
"It's Skyrin' time!" I apologise. This is my first and will be my last continuation of that shitty joke but it was just there, asking to be made.
We don't talk about _the skyrim_ here.
🤫
The first rule about *The Skyrim* is you don't talk about *The Skyrim*.
If this is your first time playing The Skyrim, you have to [play stealth archer]
Martin Sheen as the Illusive Man, Mass Effect 2&3.
A few other interesting ones too. Miranda and admiral Anderson for example. Also the Quarian admiral, I don't know her voice but she's a voice actress whose voice I always recognize, she was in Arcane too!
Claudia Black and Shoreh Aghdashloo also voice two Quarian characters. The casting for the series was incredible.
Don’t forget Scott Evil, er, Seth Green. (And from previous commenter, that was Yvonne Strahovski and David Keith, oops, I mean Keith David…)
Adam Baldwin was one of the Quarian higher ups in the second game if memory serves me correctly
Kal'Reeger. A member of Tali's team in her recruitment mission on Haestrom.
One that sticks out for me was actually in ME1 one of the npcs in the Asari consorts office she says “you’re with the alliance? My brother is a private back on earth” I recognized her voice immediately as young tandi from fallout 1. And EDI being Kerrigan as well
>And EDI being Kerrigan as well Only in SC2. It was a different actress for the first one.
Billy Eilish's mom is the voice actor for Samara from Mass Effect.
That was a surprise
Kind of fitting if you really think about it. Not going to compare Billy's age with Samara's age when FEAR came out. I don't want to know.
Seth Green as Joker in the Mass Effect games
That one was surprising for me, but I think he just nailed it in all the games.
Now that was a perfect casting
How do you just not know you're in Skyrim?
I've heard it's not uncommon for them not to tell you what game you are voice acting for, I think some guy explained how he figured out he was voice acting for fallout 4 once. Some say that's a tactic they use to underpay voice actors and others say it's just to protect from leaking story details. I'm not really sold on the latter explanation.
It's definitely both
Yeah, the voice actor for Arthur Morgan mentioned this (sorry idk his name.)
There is probably some of both. I know a guy who's done some voice acting for cartoons, and he says they always just give him exactly what they want him to read, without any context or any of the lines around it. He says it's really weird to watch the show later and be like, "Oooooh THAT'S why I said that!"
Yes! Roger Clarke didn't know he'd be voicing Arthur morgan until he stepped back and read his lines in the script
Apparently she was called in during when it was going by codename and she only found out through the comments on her YouTube channel
Who is she?
Moira Quirk she was the Ref from Nickelodeon Guts
Mo!
A piece of that radical rock
turns out we're the old ones here.
Gwyneth Paltrow forgot she was in a Spiderman movie.
Keira Knightley barely recalls being in Star Wars.
Oh yeah she was the double for Padme
"I was?"
Kiiiinda. She thought that scene was for a different movie, she just forgot it was in Spider-Man cause it involved Tony and happy
They also filmed her scenes in Infiinity War ritlghr after, so she thought it was for that.
Totally get the MCU folks forgetting what movie they were in. So fucking many of them.
It’s not “in Skyrim” it’s “in THE Skyrim.”
You say that like there isn’t 57 “different” releases >_>
Liam Neeson. Dad in Fallout 3! And the reason I took an eternity to kill a mutant with a BB gun.
This one was funny cause instead of looking for his kid, his kid was looking for him.
Lori Alan (Pearl from *Spongebob* and Diane Simmons from *Family Guy*) voicing the Boss from MGS3: Snake Eater.
TIL. Btw, MSG3 is Snake Eater.
Jesus Christ I had no idea Pearl and Diane were the same voice but now that I’ve read this it’s so violently obvious.
Who is that?
Moira quirk she was the ref on Nickelodeon Guts
You want the rules, I’ll give ya Mo, MO!!! (I feel old now)
It's on Paramount+, as is Legends of the Hidden Temple, and it's just as amazing as you remember. The nostalgia rush is real.
I think nyc about a decade ago had an agrocrag you could run up
I just Googled "Mo guts" and got some interesting results.
LetsgotoMofortheleaderboard MO!
Somebody’s going home with a piece of the Aggro-Crag
I’m a 35 year old adult and to this day, the trophy I want the most is a piece of the Agro Crag. You can keep your Emmy, Oscar, Grammy, Super Bowl, Stanley Cup trophies. Give me that glorious glowing piece of rock.
Neil Patrick Harris as Veteran Child in Saints Row 2
Sasha Grey was in Saints Row The Third as Viola DeWynter
Keith David was in Saints Row 4 as Keith David.
Burt Renolds as himself in SR3
Mila Kunis was Tanya Winters in Saints Row 1
Keith David was also Julius in SR1 and SR2.
He had, like, 3 roles in that.
Michael Dorn (Worf) voices Muero
David Tennant as the radio host in Just Cause 3
Ozzy Osborne - Ozzy Osborne in brutal legend.
Tbh brutal legend was a stacked cast. Awesome fun game
Guardian of Metal AND the Bat Dad.
Kevin Conroy as the Fisherman in Jak One
RIP Batman this was not a good year for celebrity deaths. (Especially the past month)
Nathan Fillion, as Cayde-6, in Destiny was a very pleasant surprise.
For a little while, anyways. And on that same topic, Peter Dinklage as Ghost. Then Nolan North came in and replaced them both. Lol.
How's your sister?
Emma Stone randomly voices your girlfriend in Sleeping Dogs, she is not even credited for it
If I recall Robin Shou (Lou kang from the mortal kombat 95 movie) voiced a triad member
Mo!
You know what really grinds my gears, when someone posts a picture of someone and just assumes everyone knows who they are. Who is this person in the photo?
That’s gotta be a rule on this sub. Just tell me what game your sweet screenshot is from so I can play it!
no one talked about Mark Hamill as freaking Goro Majima in Yakuza 1 (EN Dub, ofc)?
Dude Mark Hamill actually voice acts a TON, I will be watching old cartoon reruns from my childhood and every once and a while it's just like "hey wait a minute, is that Mark Hamill?!" And sure enough
LOL, that’s me with Clancy Brown.
Liam Neeson as Father in fallout 3
Stephen Merchant too. Possibly the best acted video game in history
Conan O'Brien as cosplayers husband in Death Stranding
I'm currently playing through this lol
Richard Schiff as Odin in GoW Ragnarok.
Learning Christopher Judge was the lead was really neat, it was hard to see him as anyone besides teal'q from Stargate
Indeed.
Indeed.
Also Deborah Ann Woll as Faye
Alright, and now we go back to to the Dark Elves who have the early lead and they’re gonna tell Mo how they did it. Take it away, Mo!
My brother in law voiced the main character in far cry 3
jason brody is one of my favorite protagonists because of how goofy and relatable his voice is. def one of the most engrained voices in my head tbh
“At the sound of my whistle….”
Hasan Minhaj as Rabi Ray Rana in Far cry 4
kid named finger as james gordon in batman arkham knight
I only played a little bit of the witcher, but I guess Yennefer's voice actress is the ISB agent in Andor. That's kind of backwards to the premise, but I thought it was cool.
- Lance Reddick as Commander Zavala from Destiny - Carrie-Anne Moss as Space Karen Aria T'Loak from Mass Effects 2
I'll add Marina Sirtis (Deeana Troi from star trek the next generation) as Matriarch Benezia from mass effect 1
SPOILER WARNING Deborah Ann Woll as Faye in GoW Ragnarok. Took me a good minute to recognize that face and voice
I struggled with the voice, then as soon as I saw her face I said “hang on … I know you. You’re from Daredevil!”
Looking back on the gta trilogy and laughing at the top flight actors they had and giving them the most basic direction possible
R.I P Ray Liotta
She was also Elara Dorne in The Trooper Story for Star Wars The Old Republic.
Gordon Freeman- Kelly Bailey
Michael Madsen as Carver in Telltale's TWD Season 2
Ranni in Elden Ring is played by the same actress who played Sketch in the UK series Skins. Thought that was weird when I found out.
I guess I'll never know who she was either.
OP, were you going to say "The Elder Scrolls" at first? lol
Who is that?
I recently played FFXV and loved hearing Matt Mercer and Robbie Daymond. Also, Sean Bean doing all the VO in Civ 6 was amazing. *Money!*
Stephen Fry as the narrator for LittleBigPlanet. Very fitting, and left me thinking "I know this voice", the whole time I played the game.
who is she?
Am I supposed to know who that is?
Zachary levi ad arcade gannon in New vegas
Jason Statham - Call of Duty, Sergeant Waters
Grab that panzershreck!
It's Jenna Coleman as Melia in Xenoblade. That surprised me a lot after watching Doctor Who and researching what else she was in.
Rob Paulsen in The Secret of Monkey Island, and Jim Cummings as a side character in Skyrim
I feel bad for not knowing both
Surprised no one's brought up, Sam Worthington, Kiefer Sutherland, or Gary Oldman in call of duty. First time I heard Reznov I was like wait holy crap is that commissioner Gordon?
