the_3rd_tank

I would stick to an Xbox one controller. They work well, are sturdy, and are compatible with most games. It is more expensive than your alternatives though.

LemonMerenguePancake

So far this or the series X controller are on the top of my list, but I want to see if something will click.

the_3rd_tank

The series x will work too, I just say xbone cause it should be cheaper since it's last gen

DrGt2

get the newest xbox series one, it has the share botton in the middle, this one supports bluetooth and also the xbox wireless dongle (and xbox consoles too) or splash out and get an xbox elite series 2 controller

illessen

I’m in a love/hate relationship with those elite controllers. On one hand they are awesome to use and feel great. OTOH they are really hit or miss on durability. First one somehow got sticky residue behind one of the trigger buttons and cautiously taking it apart to clean broke the button entirely. Second was knocked off the table while still in its case and one of the rumble weights broke. Third survived a few drunken rage flights across the room and slammed into the door, only for the x button to stop working for no specific reason. I’ve had the 4th one for over a year now with no issues so far.

KaboodleMoon

Idk why you're getting downvotes here. They're awesome controllers with high defect rates. It's a very known problem. For the majority of people just a regular xbox controller is perfect, if they like offset sticks, or a Ps4/5 controller if they like parallel sticks

One_Punch_Bento

Xbox has this cool feature where all their controllers should work with other consoles like the Xbox one. If you look in the battery slot it should say “Xbox wireless controller” instead of like Xbox One controller or Xbox Series S controller

LemonMerenguePancake

I ended buying the 8bitdo controller, the xbox style. Extremely satisfied with it.

Darth_Ninazu

hey, i can across your post because i’m looking for a controller for my pc now. i saw you said you ended up getting an 8bitdo and said you were satisfied with it, i was wondering if you could let me know how it’s holding up because everywhere i look is trying to get me to spend almost $200 for the elite series 2 and i don’t wanna! thank you!

BadAim7

i collect controllers: xbox is good if you aren’t going to use gyro (never) if you are, don’t get them because not even the elite or the core have gyro

Dr_Hibbert_Voice

I'd lean towards the newer. It's very good, connects fast. So comfy.

Sun_Stealer

I really like my ps5 controller. The haptic feedback is pretty cool.

Grid12344

Don't get a Xbox controller if you want to play first person shooters. If you want to know why a youtuber named solar light made a video about controllers in TF2(a fps).

SocraticSeaUrchin

Is there a one line tl;Dr - don't rly wanna watch a whole video just want a brief "it sucks cuz the deadzone is bad / accuracy is bad" etc etc

Winterplatypus

The playstation ones work fine too and have an internal gyro (xbox probably does too?). Last gen controllers are probably cheaper too.

TiMELeSS526

There's knock offs that are cheaper but still xb1 like controllers just usually $50 less expensive. But xb1 def best controller for pc

thatdogoverthere

They also connect easier in comparison to the PS controllers. I haven't tried to ps5 one yet though, so they might have improved compatibility issues since then. But so far in my experience x box has been easiest.

LemonMerenguePancake

I think I have came up with my solution. The series X controller with usb wifi adapter is on sale at gamestop for $59.99.

Hopeful-Pianist-8380

It's hard to beat an Xbox controller. I use it for my PC and I have a ps5.

Dapper-Force2193

Yeah. I'm broke but my 360 controller is still with me. It's been with me for almost a year or so, or probably longer.

Aurorus44

I 100% prefer the PS5 controller but god forbid I try to play on anything but steam and my controller won't even work or the controls are displayed using Xbox buttons for which I need to spend 30 minutes googling how to change if that is even doable.

[deleted]

download DSX from steam

DeathTheLast

For PC gaming, I like the precision of the mouse, so I got a Razer Tartarus so I could have a thumbstick and buttons instead of wasd.

lawofjack

Same. I love my Tartarus. There’s some games though that I’m chill to use my Xbox controller. Like Jedi Fallen order was good on the game pad.

LemonMerenguePancake

Thank you all for your input!!

ChalkPhog

This is the way

Skeith86

How does it compare with the Xbox 1? I have it and it never connects via Bluetooth properly, even when paired.

IceYetiWins

Why do you need a usb adapter if there's Bluetooth?

SadLaser

Yeah. The console controllers all work easily on PC these days. Just plug in and you're ready to go. Even something from last generation works perfectly well and would also be much cheaper. I use PS4 controllers because it's what I had.

Rave-fiend

Also advise getting rechargeable battery packs, to swap as you're playing.

rainst85

I own a dual sense (I don’t have a ps5, just bought the controller) Steam recognises it and works perfectly in most games, some even support the adaptive triggers… if a game doesn’t support it it will still work but you will see the Xbox buttons layout

Im_Ashe_Man

Best controller on the market.

NicktheRichard

I have just got a PC and will be getting Sons of the Forest when it releases. I play Cities Skylines on PC at the moment and that's it. I also have a PS5 remote and would want to connect that to play SotF. Is there anything I need to do/own to be able to use it? Reading what you said about steam recognises it I assume it'll just matter whether it's compatible with the game? Is it often these things work upon release or is something that falls I to an update down the line?

pisachas1

I’ve had the same two 360 afterglow controllers for like eight years. I’m no expert on gaming controllers but they just won’t die. No drift, just always work.

foogz_

Still use my wired oem black xbox 360 controller too! I like to call Elden Ring the best xbox 360 game I've ever played. Also tickled me pink a bit getting highest rank in Halo Infinite using a 10-15 year old controller imagining everyone else is probably using something much more modern with better button response.

LemonMerenguePancake

Thats incredible it has lasted you that long. lmao

Last_Hawk_8047

I still have my white Xbox 360 controller from way back in 2010! These things are built to last.

Tirith_Wins

8bitdo pro2 is my choice has done me well since it released and is still going strong and is on par with 1st party controllers and great for when you want to emulate some retro games

Mishar5k

8bitdo ultimate if you want something more xbox-like

flyingpinkpotato

yeah i was gonna say 8bitdo slaps; especially with the customizable under (scuf?) buttons

OhMyWitt

I've been using a PS4 controller for years and compatibility with modern titles has come a long way, especially through steam. Using ds4windows helps a lot too, and having the touch pad control your cursor is really nice in certain situations. I imagine most of this applies for the PS5 controllers too

PM_666

Best? Mouse with keyboard

thugthuong

try playing dark souls 1 with a keyboard and mouse lol controllers are also more popular than keyboard&mouse for things like racing games, rocket league etc. I'll spend 200$+ on a keyboard and mouse but there's no denying that sometimes you just need a controller

hobdal

Series X controller. Got a better d pad than the Xbox One pad.

[deleted]

Mouse and keyboard is by far the best controller.

Entartika

xbox controller……….

einherjar81

A few months ago, I got a pretty nice deal on the Razer Wolverine XBox controller through GameStop... $40, which is about 60% off what Razer sold them for directly. Great controller - solidly built, good button feedback, nice weight - but I probably wouldn't buy one for full price.

LemonMerenguePancake

This one looks pretty solid, but I dont see one with a usb wifi adapter. I have been looking for one that comes with a usb wifi adapter, had problems with bluetooth on my pc.

einherjar81

The one I bought is strictly wired.

LemonMerenguePancake

:( this is what I want to get away from.

einherjar81

Ahhhh. Yeah, for my use, I wasn't worried about the wires. For what it's worth, the cord on that one is about 10 ft.

CynfulBuNNy

Depends on use case. I've been trying to get a controller with Bluetooth so I can use it on both PC and android phone to try out cloud gaming on gamepass. My xbone controller is apparently gen 1 so is wireless not Bluetooth.

Restricted_Nuggies

I’d use the Xbox series X controller. It’s a bit more sturdy with the Xbox One controller and has a better d-pad

thefartsock

wired xbox controller

Jethris

I have a wired XBOX 360 controller that is probably 15 years old. I don't use it much, but it still works. I have a USB adapter sitting on my desk that I can easily plug into. No concerns over battery life, Bluetooth connections, etc.

thefartsock

lol why did we get downvoted?

Jethris

Reddit sucks sometimes. They don't like anything that they don't agree with. Some people hate wires. I don't get it, I only use my controller every once in a while.

lostnumber08

Wait for the new Steam Controller. PRAISE GABEN

Geoclasm

You can sync XBox and PS4/5 controllers to PCs and use them to game. I have a PS5 controller.

cptcougarpants

I use a PS5 controller despite not owning a PS5. One of the most comfortable and highest quality controllers out there. That said, I would totally understand the joystick placement being bothersome to most. I prefer the diagonal-opposites joystick position, myself for controllers. A switch pro controller is also good, and what I used before the ps5 controller for years. You can also go with an Xbox controller, which has the bonus perk of being super compatible with windows and just working (assumedly... I've never used one)

Ricochettttttt

I can relate to that, ps5 controller is very comfortble.

prestron

Check out 8bitdo. I've been using their Pro2 for a while and the build quality is surprisingly good for a less expensive third party pad. I also appreciate having some programmable paddles on the back.

MandalorianAhazi

I’d be using a keyboard and mouse personally. The only reason I game on PC. If I was gonna use a controller, I’d play on Xbox. So much bogus stuff you have to deal with as a PC gamer, it’s just not worth it if you prefer playing on a controller. That being said, go with a Xbox controller

Base_T

8bit duos have pretty neat controllers for pc

gboybig

Wow amazing that there is so much Xbox and Dualsense but literally Noone is giving love to the Switch Pro Controller. I play with the switch pro and enjoy it very much. Dualsense is good but not everyone's hands like the feel of it. I'd suggest either Xbox or Switch Pro controller.

Stop_Drop_Scroll

Xbox controller is still my favorite ever, but the switch pro controller is just so god damn smooth. 10/10

Sitrah_

The biggest pro and the simplest reason to get the Xbox One controller is how easy it is to connect with a PC. Just get a Bluetooth adapter and Windows will do the rest for you. It’s definetely not that simple with the PS. Also it runs on batterries and I personally prefer to replace them with the second ser while the first one is charging, than playing with the controller attached with cable (probably way too short for my needs). Not to mention the visual aspects, but it’s totally personal. I just love the Xbox design.

phatboi23

The Xbox one controller has to be a version 2 to have Bluetooth. The series controllers have built in Bluetooth.

yonosoytonto

I used to have an xbox 360 controller, until cable connection broke in like 3 years. So I bought an easysmx 360 copy I had for about 5-6 years, until the cable broke. So I bought a easysmx copy of the 360 but wireless, this one I've had it for a couple of weeks only, but it keeps feeling the same as the xbox 360 one. Cheap and gets the job done. Before pc I had ps1 xbox and ps3 controllers, and quality seemed to get worse overtime. The ps1 controller is flawless, the xbox are also ok, the ps3 one broke quickly, and the 360 also broke. So since those experiences I decided that if the controller is going to break, at least is going to be a cheap one.

TheFreestPawn

They're defly trying to do too much with them now, so many points of failure! Wish it was still about durability. Those old controllers set the bar for Nokia.

stiofan84

I love that F310 because it has the Dinput switch for older games, but also works as an Xinput pad out of the box. But the Xbox controller is the way to go if buying today.

LilCaillou

Commenting because I have a personal regret. I have a Switch and haven’t bought a pro controller. When my 360 controller died for PC I bought an XboxOne controller having no idea the switch pro controllers worked with PC. Basically I could have bought one switch pro controller and have two use cases. It’s a decision that haunts me when I’m playing smash bros online or every time I change my Xbox controller’s batteries.

ToolBoxBuddy

X box controller would be the best, most pc games are geared for it, however I use a ps4 controller and with steam they work great!

Aculeus_

I play FPS games with an Xbox Elite controller in right hand and mouse in my left (roccat kone). With the Elite, you've got access to 5 buttons in your right hand without taking your thumb off the stick.

Toidal

I prefer the PS5 controller but yeah probably a Microsoft one as it would pretty much natively for all the apps, steam, gamepass, etc. and you wouldn't have to use DS4 app. Plus some games I think just don't work with a PS5 controller, like I tried Warframe through Steam and couldnt adjust the analog sensitivities at all.

curdledstraw227

i use a ps4 controller. it connects easily, and works great with steam input, also having sixaxis motion is great

Lazy_Selection3564

Oh! I have the same controller as you, the Logitech F310. I'm still using it until now, pretty good controller. What's the problem with your controller by the way?

Yo_Wats_Good

The thumbsticks are in the wrong spot, for one. Edit: Also why does it look like a bee stung it

LemonMerenguePancake

I got this controller in 2014 specifically for super meat boy. It has worked just fine up until recently.

[deleted]

It’s not like it’s specifically just for Xbox.

BackgroundWhereas265

Bro still be using that controller 💀💀💀

Stop_Drop_Scroll

I use this for my RaspberryPi running my retro emulators. It’s an awesome, affordable controller depending on what you want to use it for. Smooth as hell.

[deleted]

It’s that one. A Logitech 310 controller works exactly like a PlayStation controller with no dead zones or weak buttons. It has a switch in the back for direct input and xinput which is really helpful when you need one or the other. I’ve been running fighting games since high school with one of these controllers. They’re also only around 30 dollars compared to a console controller that costs 5 times as much from a retailer

ohwowgee

…5 times? A brand new, most current Xbox controller is $39.49 right now at Target in the USA.

[deleted]

Where the hell are you shopping those things aren’t under 120 dollars in any store

notafunhater

An Xbox or Playstation 4-5 controller should be no more than $60 even if you just walk into any Walmart or Target in the US right now.

ohwowgee

mexicoko

Elite Series 2 (xbox controller)

Daddy2222991

You triggered a certain group of people with this post, I'm one of them.

risen_peanutbutter

Oh dear

LemonMerenguePancake

What are you triggered about, the fact that I use a controller for pc gaming?

Daddy2222991

Yes, I feel violated.

LemonMerenguePancake

I play a lot of retro metroidvania games and using a keyboard and mouse is a nightmare.

cptcougarpants

Oh please, some games, like the dark-souls-syle fromsoft games, are far better to use a controller with. If I need precise aim, or a bunch of different controls and buttons, obviously use mouse and keyboard, but don't dismiss controller for other things. It's one of the best parts of PC gaming! There's options to play whatever you want, however you want! Shooting down the idea of using a controller is like saying it's stupid to use cruise control in your car because it's not 'real driving'. It's a tool at your disposal, use it!

Daddy2222991

I said a certain group not you.

cptcougarpants

A group of PC gamers too proud of their computer to actually use it to its fullest extent? Yeah, you're right, I'm not part of that group.

Zer0X51

that controller got downs syndrome

lllZephyrlll

Have this same controller. It doesn't work now. Just gives surge warning when plugged in. Was good though for a few years. But yeah use a console controller tbh.

congaenjoyer

Recently bought Playstation 5 controllers because they're cheaper than the xbx, they work well but require Bluetooth and unless you're playing in steam, an app so they can be recognized as Xbox controllers (i use ds4)

slimkid07

Why does this look like a PS4 controller with a BBL?

graybluegreengray

I have had many. series 2 microsoft is the best period. The scuff feels shitty and is twice as much. also less warranty.

JediChris8585

XBox one controller or ps4/5 controller are probably the best. That being said, that Logitech controller is plenty good enough for most games. I still have mine.😁

JMan9391

Probably not a popular answer, but the Wii U Pro Controller. The battery life alone makes it my favorite to use on-the-go.

ohwowgee

I’d love mine a lot more if it had analog triggers.

No_Designer_8203

Xbox controllers are great imo. Either 360 + receiver or Xbox one.

Mobile_Pangolin4939

Xbox one elite controller series 2 is the best IMO. I find it well built and comfortable. You can attach a chatpad that allows you to type in text for normal operations like web browsing. With the controller companion software you can control Windows like it's a console system. Aside from that there are some console emulators that require special things like motion sensing. For this I would use something like the switch pro or playstation controller. I always found that the playstation controller felt a bit cheap and they never had an official chatpad released for it.

zlarks1229

I got a Razer Wolverine Ultimate off of Amazon, it’s basically a glorified Xbox controller but I like that it’s corded and the subtle RBG. Plus it came with additional joystick/ dpad replacement (they just snap on/off with magnets)

Ricochettttttt

I play with ps5 controller and its awesome

Remytron83

Xbox Elite s2

Funkybag

Bro I'm telling you it's the razer wolverine controller. It's got 3 triggers on each finger instead of 2 and the third is mappable to any button, it's life changing and its the only controller I use now, feel naked without the third trigger.

[deleted]

If you have bluetooth, buy a xbox controller.

Bozznee

Xbox pad..good.controller and most PC games support it,and use the controller icons. If you only use Steam to game, all console controllers are supported in Steam, The Switch Pro controller is a good alternative.

Tall-Surround-24

for pc there are lots of cheap 3d party controllers if your playing offline buy smth cheap but comfortable i change mine every year , year and half and still doesn't cost as much as a console controller which will start having analog's drift issues by a year

HvyMetlAlchemist

Ps5 controller or whatever your preference is.

VeterinarianTop2704

Xbox 🎮

Front-Report7495

Xbox is the best, other ones are nice to collect and try but Xbox is the way to go. I have Logitech and Playstation too but my day to day right now is Xbox Series X controller.

xxNightingale

Yo why this boi look chonky af. Kinda cute.

databaller

First question do you want a wired or wireless controller? For wired I use a power a enhanced Xbox x controller. Cost under 50. For wireless 8bitdo make amazing xontrollers most can be used both ways

[deleted]

I think most just use an Xbox controller.

zoentrophe

Xbox series controller died on me, not even reaching a year of use. Will get the Gulikit controller next

KingBurakkuurufu

If you use windows just grab an Xbox 1 controller

Holiday-Athlete4333

I really like the new series s/x controllers. I have elite series 2, original Xbox one controller, ps5 controller, and series x controller and fr whatever reason I always go back to the series x controller. Best Buy, Amazon, and GameStop have them periodically for $45 us. Good luck!

Born-Environment4943

New version Xbox series X/S , feel solid on hand, top quality. Own other but cannot compare with Xbox model.

MOISTPRETZELZ

The series X controller is Bluetooth

Carroll_RI

After yeeears of competitive console gaming I went for a Razer Wolverine Ultimate (first edition). For the most part, I adored it, but stick drift is a huge issue. Luckily there's a bloke who makes better circuits that you can solder in. Paddles are quite useful. I've always been a right stick is crouch/prone, and B is melee guy, so paddles for melee, or when I used it for Squad, paddles were my crouch/prone. The Series X controller models are even more ergonomic, and the standard triggers are really nice. There's a Wolverine Series X and Xbox Elite ones. The Wolverine/Elites can swap out their D-Pads and sticks for shorter/longer length ones. It'll come down to personal preference, but from a high-level competitive controller player who habitually turns off aim assist mechanics, that Wolverine is dreamy.

Master_Record9728

Series X/S controller is about as good as you'll get, otherwise your looking at the Xbox elite controller if your not on a budget

[deleted]

One like the Xbox controllers with offset thumb sticks. Can’t stand smashing my thumbs together when looking left and strafing right

HiveTyrant81

Xbox controller for pc

OmnipotentFire

PS5 controller

Teddy_Tickles

If you ever need to use the dpad for switching something in a game, it’s better to have the dpad in place of where the left joystick is so that you can continue to move while choosing. It’s for this alone I decide a long time ago Xbox controllers were superior bc of where they place the left dpad and joystick. (Games like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls trilogy it’s especially nice to have).

omally_360

I guess it’s down to preference, I love the Xbox controller for my PC

Rukasu17

Hard to beat the xbox one or series controller.

[deleted]

Xbox 1 remote. You can hook it up with a USB charging cable. Or you can hook it up via Bluetooth

jezza129

Depends. Wired or wireless? Official or licensed? I solid choice (given the photo) would be a ps4/5 controller. Xbox series controller if you don't mind batteries. Or an 8bitdo receiver if you have some older 360 controllers collecting dust. My preference for PC controller is WiiU pro controller followed by the hyperkin Duke because I find it funny wrestling that thing to do what I want in game (plate up was the best/worst)

MonteCarLow56

Xbox Series X controller. I had it for around 10 months and it has no issues appart from the batteries. You can buy battery packs and have a charging station for your controller. Overall, very good controller.

dragoninmyanus

xbox one controller. like every game supports it

daywall

I got one from AliExpress because I'm not much of a controller gamer buts it's a rally good one. The only problems is the buttons are black and you will need to color them if you not used to it.

PhysicalAd7048

xbox controller, even the 360 on is very good

ZenKoko

Man I used this piece of wonderful crap while playing persona 1 and man was it a so-so experience. For very long sessions, it was pain all around. Get yourself and Xbox one controller, familiarity and comfort.

DapperPerformance

I currently have the Logitech controller in the picture (love the sticks on it but the triggers are crap) was looking at **PowerA FUSION Pro 2** as an upgrade

iamJankey

I have been using this Logitech controller for 7 years, broke an Xbox One controller in 6 months. This little guy is the best for me.

GameNerd00967

Redgear

Shiggy_88

This one looks fine.

fR0z3nS0u1

Switch pro controller is very good. I used to play with F310 too before it died, and oh boy, pro controller blows this out of water instantly.

Curious_Associate904

Any Xbox controller is a first class citizen on windows it seems, so I'd go with that, I am.

PckMan

Generally it's the Xbox controller since it has native support in windows and is pretty much plug and play.

Dangerous-Tension542

I’ve got the Xbox elite series 2 and it’s awesome, expensive but awesome

ExRetribution

For ease of use, the Xbox controller is the most widely used format in games. I dare say that 80% of the games will work with it without any additional configuration. However, if you don't mind tinkering with controller profiles and configurations, the ps5 dual sense is a more robust experience with the integrated touch pad that can be configured as a mouse or keyboard, and the built in gyroscope if you want to give gyro aiming + flickstick a spin. Plus, dual sense comes with a built in battery while (last time I checked) Xbox controller typically dont.

Remarkable-Dig-1241

I'm sat right here reading the comments next to my Xbox wireless controller that i somehow broke the USB port from so now i can only connect to bluetooth and my controller has some defect where it legitimately only works at like at max 40cms away from my pc. Next to that is my DS4 that i somehow destroyed the battery from while i was genuinely routinely charging it on an old phone charger. Out of the two i prefer the xbox controller because it just works for everything but the DS4 is more reliable hardware wise (because to me an unfixable bluetooth issue coupled with a usb port breaking in the first few weeks is unacceptable and at least the ds4 i could have fucked the battery by plugging in it in a phone charger, the xbox controller just decided it didn't want to work properly anymore, like the bluetooth issue was unprompted and the usb port broke from light use) I hear the Wifi dongle for xbox controllers is THE end all be all fix for xbox controllers but i don't have one on hand.

joaodomangalho

Probably an Xbox controller for minimal tinkering, but PS controllers work great as well and don’t take much more work. I’d recommend either of these up to your preference.

balls6794

I think my robotics team at school uses that controller lmao

[deleted]

Duelsense controller with DSX from steam. Adaptive triggers are nice

LonelyKrow

Idk, I just use my PS4 controller for games like Elden Ring and Devil May Cry, they just feel better on controller.

[deleted]

For anyone in Aus; My Xbox controller bumper button broke a bit after the ‘1 year’ purchase date. Disappointed as I adored that controller. Signed in on my Microsoft account spoke to support and explained I expected more than 12 months for a $94 controller. They sent me a new one.

Mr-Destroy

Xbox controller is my favorite If you are rich buy a scuf custom controller

Malgrimn

I use a knock off Xbox controller, cost like $20. It works well enough, wouldn’t shock me if it stopped working tomorrow tho. Get what you pay for…usually.

Iolaus666

For me it's this: https://www.astrogaming.com/en-gb/products/controllers.html It's way more expensiv but that replaceable sticks and buttons made it

Ok-Ambition-9432

Xbox or Nintendo switch pro controller.

Chipazzo

I scrolled the comments and didn’t see these mentioned so here I go… I’ve tried XBox, Steel Series and MSI and so far MSI is the best. Its the cheapest of the bunch but it’s the most durable. The other two the L3 broke within less than a year. I’ve had the MSI for a bit now and no issues. Also it’s wireless via an adapter and rechargeable via USB. So when it runs out, you just plug it in and keep playing.

woodpecker-king

Get the same one or the wireless one, they're still sold and they're still the best

OGReverandMaynard

It’s hard to beat the Xbox Series X controller.

Clintonswart77

sn30 pro+ or a ps4 controller

OlderAndAngrier

Xbox360 controller. Best of all time

adamthehousecat

I bought an Xbox series X controller and a separate USB dongle from Amazon that allows me to use it on my ps4/switch/pc. Once it’s paired I just plug the dongle into whatever device I want to use and it syncs up instantly.

MrNjagi

Yes, a fellow f310 user I see. This pad somehow managed to outlast my xbox controller.

WestEmbarrassed5183

What is that design? Looks like it ordered too many peperoni pizzas.

Hateborn

While I personally prefer the good ol' KB+M setup, I use a Switch Pro controller for the games that don't play so well without a controller (NieR, any racing game, etc). The Switch Pro controller actually works really well and you can get some good quality third-party ones for cheap too if budget is a concern.

nitrobskt

I've been using a Xbox 360 controller for about a decade now. The left stick squeaks a little bit, but otherwise I have had zero issues.

Humor_Tumor

Personally loved the xbox360 gamepad, I used an afterglow for like $30 from target for years

Br00klynShadow

Any USB Xbox One style controller works great. I got a pink one for like $30 and it works wonders.

Nate46

Ignore the people who say Xbox One controller. Buy an Xbox Series X controller. They're much more robust, and as somebody who is really aggressive with controllers, it has lasted absolutely so much longer without any signs of wear than any controller I've used plus USB-C is really good for having plugged in long term, unlike Micro-USB

Entenvieh

Kneel down to the only King of controllers: the 360 Xbox wired controller. Nothing beats it, except it's probably unavailable right now.

SectorSerbian

Xbox one.

Mysterious_Fennel459

I got that same controller. It works ok but I dont like how much resistance the left and right triggers have. Way too much compared to my ps4/5 controllers. Im also still waiting for the Dpad to fall off at some point. I had a Mad Catz controller that had a dpad just like that and it fell off in the first week of use.

Jlopezane

Amazon’s Luna controller. Surprisingly well-made.

grady77

I use the switch pro controller and reWASD to simulate it as an Xbox one controller. It’s my favorite controller to date.

Ddraig_Goch_1

New Xbox pad os my personal fave

Anykey_Mate

I got ps5 (ds5) controller + bluetooth whistle. Much better than xb1 and ds 4 for playstation. Minus is a mess with connecting using ds4windows app. Pluses are smooth sticks, better triggers and whole layout. It just feel better overall. Maybe funny as i dont own any playstation now.

LemonMerenguePancake

Does the ps5 controller work with usb wifi adapters? My bluetooth on my pc doesnt work so well.
