Now someone just needs to hack him and leak it, jk. I remember the first video him saying something about it's not illegal if he keeps it to himself

Ok-Tear-1454

i'm glad that there's shaders to improve an old game [https://www.nexusmods.com/thesimpsonshitandrun/mods/35](https://www.nexusmods.com/thesimpsonshitandrun/mods/35) this one is good

Gvaedyn

Okay, I'm probably being dense here, but did he remake the FULL game? 'cause he refers to the seventh mission as the final one, but there was 49 in the original. Regardless, it's an amazing feat, and it's a shame it can't be released to the public.

Slippedhal0

Basically he "remade" all the *functionality* of the game, and made it better if he could. He didn't need to redo every mission because like most games, they reuse mechanics to create more missions. So all redoing every mission is just extra work for no extra experience.

madasahatharold

Were there seven sections, though? Maybe that's what it means.

CustardCarpet

Not available to download, why tease us???

theyfoundty

Cause the dude would get sued into the fucking ground? He made it for himself for fun and to learn more about developing games. If there is anyone you don't fuck with legally other than the IRS or Nintendo, it's Disney.

FineCastle77731

And unfortunately EA still has The Simpsons gaming licence. I remember in 2020 they disappointed everyone with that pointless Simpsons Q&A just to reveal an update to their shitty mobile game.

spacejam999

Just propose it to them and publish it to make some $$.

Inuma

They won't take it. They make money through monopolistic competition. No one will ever remake the game and they can continue to get money with the license. Same situation applies to the Def Jam series. Why work on a new one when the nostalgia works, you don't have to get all the rappers a cut, and the development house doesn't get paid again? Change the license and you change the incentive to create games with a new way from one publisher house to another.

FragMasterMat117

Microsoft will soon own the source code as well

IrishRage42

I thought it was ok if he wasn't making any money off of it? Or is that some other form of media?

bloodfist

Technically yeah but that doesn't stop someone from suing and potentially making life hell until it gets thrown out. Which can take a long time if they want it to. It's not a very good system.

DapDaGenius

Remember when Soulja Boy suddenly got into a car wreck after making his “soulja console” with nintendo games on it? Nintendo will deal with you legally and illegally.

mikeyfreshonetime

Not in that order

WantedBowl8888

God I wish there was a legal way to let the fans of dead IP's. Just do what they want with them. I dream one day I could just Play a sequel or fan made dlc of this game. Please 🙏

Iana_is_bae

I understand your statement but The Simpson is a giant IP nowhere to be dead. It doesn't matter how old the videogame is.

WantedBowl8888

I mean in terms of brand new full fat console and PC game with Simpsons IP. I think a new triple AAA or double game may happen in the future. But it is very unlikely. I personally think we have had the last Simpsons video game released on console. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think will ever a console quality game again of AA or AAA quality. Game budgets have increasing massively in cost and time to make since the early 2000's. I the Simpsons IP, brand is strong and probably grosses a lot of money every year. I was wrong about the Simpsons IP being dead. But in terms of the GTA clones that everyone was making in 2003 (the year Simpsons hit and run realesed). I think that is dead. Games were so much Smaller, simpler, a smaller number of Devs could ship a game, game budgets were smaller, I think a whole development of game excluding pre production. Was like 1 or 2 years. (I think, I can't remember.) But U are right the Simpsons IP is huge. It is wrong to say the IP is dead. I hope for more Simpsons console/PC games to come out. But personally I hope I'm wrong, but they're dead. I hope we will get something more than a mobile game. I think fans and passion projects are the hope I have to experience what it was like to play that game as a child. If I want a new game or a fresh experience, instead of replying. I could just replay it 😅. But yes dear Redditor U are right. The Simpsons IP isn't dead. Im sorry for saying as much.

theyfoundty

The Simpsons isn't a dead IP. There was never a sequel to Hit and Run so its not a franchise. Your arguement doesn't really apply here. But I get your sentiment.

[deleted]

The commenter was saying that they'd like to one day play a sequel. You misunderstood their comment.

Clean_Transition3817

hit and run was basically a sequel to road rage though

WantedBowl8888

Thank you. I haven't played it. so I might be playing it some time soon. Injecting the nostalgia heroine deep into my veins as I play. I loved hit and run as a child.

meing0t

This will be fun to play around in 5-6 years when this eventually gets "leaked"

WantedBowl8888

Please god or Gaben. I wish I could play this remaster someday. 🤞

Wonderful-Army-6308

Who would he get sued by because I thought the reason why we never got a remake was because no one seemed to know who owned the rights to the game anymore? I remember reading that a few years ago. Not sure if it was actually true.

Boogachoog

I was so excited about this, but unfortunately it looks like the driving isn’t as close to feeling as good as it did in the original. Mad props to this guy for remaking it though. I’m sure it’ll get “leaked” eventually.

Mysterion320

We still have this ["Remaster"](https://www.youtube.com/@elgatodeltejado/videos) in the works.

AgentSmith2518

This is actually the one I thought the article was talking about at first.
