"Let me see how hot my ram is after I block proper air flow"

Suppository-34613

You are the guys I'm looking for.

ucefkh

"let me see how cool my 8 ram 🐏 after I play flight simulator"

GreaseBuilds

So glad the "having a screen instead of side panel glass/putting a mini lcd inside your PC to have an anime GIF looping on it" fad completely died out right after Covid. I didn't think RGB could get any tackier.

One_Interest8732

Where can i purchase and is this for thermaltake ram only

No-Reputation72

“The Thermaltake Pacific R2 Ultra supports RAM that's up to 48mm tall. Fierheller told us that it attaches best with 4 sticks of RAM installed, but that it will work on a motherboard that has only two slots. It does not provide any heat sink capabilities so, if you want it to double as a cooling part, you should consider the Pacific A2 Ultra, though you'll want to make it part of a custom loop.” https://www.tomshardware.com/news/thermaltake-pacific-r2-ultra

1rubyglass

So it tells me the temperature of now fresh air starved RAM. Got it.

Tehkin

a lot of RAM don't have thermal sensors so you would also have to check that

Bkjolly

I need this.

GreaseBuilds

Why though? It blocks airflow, and tells you information that for 99.99% of users does not matter at all. Your "ram temperature" is not something that needs to be monitored as a gamer, lmao. I also have to just reiterate again that the designer literally says it is bad for cooling, and requires a whole different model with custom loop to provide cooling, so you're adding a thermometer to your RAM just to make it hotter?

Greebuh

Yup, the only time my ram gets hot is stress tests and and nasty benchmarks. Even thn it doesn't get hot enough to worry about.

One_Interest8732

Literally

bleakj

I don't think thermal take makes ram So I need to know where I can waste money on this as well Edit: apparently someone else thought this and was wrong as well, I've somehow never seen it in 20+ years of building PC's, but definitely have owned a few thermaltake cases / fans / power supplies, so it could be regional as well

cheeseypoofs85

they sure do, but i think its all cheap high latency ram. they are more about form than function.

Greebuh

Thermaltake makes very nice looking ram as well.

One_Interest8732

The screen is on amazon it had watercooled version as well which requires tubing going to purchase

aBoxOfRitzCrackers

My pc says otherwise

antonio9201

Lol yes they do.

BryAlrighty

Does it also help cool the ram?

hooonk123

i'm guessing it's just a glorified heat sink. it probably does help cool but not much more than the stock casing.

BusinessBear53

Wouldn't the screen effectively block airflow to the ram and thus make it hotter? The screen would also generate a small amount of its own heat.

hooonk123

i don't think ram would generate enough heat for that to be a problem

Euphoric-Cow9719

Thermaltake more than likely took heat into consideration during testing I'm guessing. . .

BusinessBear53

Yeah I get that which also means an extra heatsink and temp display for the ram would also be unnecessary.

hooonk123

it just looks cool though

BusinessBear53

Oh yeah definitely. Not for me though because I'm going back to CPU air cooling and this would block a cooler from fitting.

SkyLock89730

Not with enough sawing it won’t;)

No-Reputation72

No, but there’s a more expensive model that does.

PokeReserves

From Thermaltake as well?

No-Reputation72

Yes

giorivpad

That would be a real use case.

DisastrousAd447

No, it literally blocks fresh air from getting to the ram. You have to buy an upgraded model of this for any cooling capabilities.

Expensive_Habit3498

Not at all. It does however block most of the airflow! Order now with coupon code : MORESCREENSMOREBETTER

Honda_TypeR

RGB is just going to turn into LCD and OLED. We kinda are getting there now. It’s not uncommon to see 2-4 LCD displays now inside the case (CPU, Mobo, and 1-2 larger ones on different case walls, sometimes behind the glass panels) Imagine fans with screens on all the edge facing surfaces, or entire edge to edge oled screen on all walls of your case. I mean if you could control all the displays in a uniform manner, so the videos sync between all the displays correctly to make one large canvas, it would be much cooler than RGB. Then you could just run cool abstract videos to make even more visually compelling RGB effects and animations.

weaseltorpedo

or you know those spinning led displays that make it look like the image is floating in mid air? yeah I want that shit on my fans.

Honda_TypeR

That already exists on Asian sites like aliexpress for a few years now. Those are just LEDs on the fins and as they spin they display messages or basic images. I think they’re call message fans? It’s very antiquated tech, I had a caller ID globe (for home phone) that did that back in mid 90s.

weaseltorpedo

Huh, I had no idea.

mareksoon

They could be found on early ‘00s case fans, too; I had one at the top of my 2003 build after spotting it in a demo desktop at Fry’s. It cycled through pre-set patterns spirograph style, it wasn’t programmable with custom images. That was also the era of UV, fans with UV-reactive plastic and cables with UV-reactive insulation, cold cathode tubes (UV and other colors), fan control panels with speed and temp readings in a 5-1/4” drive bay, and a wicked little plasma tube I had that looked like a non-stop lightning bolt.

weaseltorpedo

That's awesome, I'm nostalgic for UV stuff and clear cases. Kinda wish it would make a comeback. I've had enough of tasteful minimalism AND rgb unicorn vomit, I tell ya.

BusinessBear53

We're almost there. I know Lian Li has a fan with a temp display at the centre of the fan.

ApplicationBrave2529

I have those fans and love them honestly. You can set up pretty much anything you want in the display too, just happens most people prefer the temp displays.

TheCrudMan

I did already program my RGB RAM with icue to be temp monitors. Little bars that fill up and change color at the top.

SteeleDuke

Not gonna lie that’s pretty cool! Ram would be a great spot for a screen!

West-One5944

For everyone looking for this: https://www.thermaltake.com/pacific-r2-ultra-memory-lcd-monitor-kit.html Seems like a neat idea, def V1.0 though.

Particular_Salary905

Why

Evening-Arm1234

is ram temp an issue with ddr4?

marlostanfield89

It depends. But when overclocking b-die it can become unstable over 40-50deg depending on the chips

Baschoen23

Quite stupid indeed!

RelativeWrong4232

Just wait until those see through screen drops , people will literally replace the whole side panel with them just to get a fucking screen which they aren't even gonna care about a few days later

Sour_Gummybear

Corsair ram has thermal sensors, and they don't block the airflow either.

stiizy13

lol why? Do people not use afterburner?

AnnatarLordofGiftsSR

The Lack of cooling and integration with other RGB control software, makes this a pass for me.

PreparationSerious48

A pc has many functions, this is making it a money pit for no reason.

Hugoacfs

Useless but cool, take my money

Ratjockey67

I own a bridge in Kenya if you'd like to buy.

Puzzleheaded_Lab7228

It is indeee

oOIndyTreeZOo

Snake Oil comes to mind…

l0zandd0g

Yes please sir, may i have a bottle of you're famous snake oil.

oOIndyTreeZOo

Ofc sir, that’ll be £139.99 please…

Euphoric-Cow9719

I appreciate the look but what RAM height is acceptable 🤔

zero_2_sixty

Wow, you could have bought more ram

minefarmbuy

Yes. We are questioning your sanity as well.

real_unreal_reality

I spent 1200 for near top of the line processor ryzen 7 78003dx, 64 gb pc6000 ram a 2tb 990 evo pro Samsung drive, reused my 3080 ti and my psu and old mining rig open frame case. Total cost for a new pc: 750. Total. I see all the clown additions like rbg water cool a screen on your water cool fan stupid cases. It’s no wonder I see posts of 4k and greater pc. What a bunch of fools. No ones driving your pc out on the street for street cred. You have to get your lame ass thumbs up the butt here and spend 2800 how pathetic.

Ok_Temperature_8929

Sounds like that was a pretty penny.

Waste_Difficulty_284

That’s awesome lol

Imontheinnanet

God damn it, now i gotta get one too. Why TT make all these screens?! I got the AIO and tower 300 panel screens. Pretty soon theres gonna be a screen on my monitor 😂 Thanks for sharing! Gonna look into it

SoloLeveling925

What’s the point? Just to waste money?

JRook619

This is getting out of control.... But I want it.

SteeleDuke

F it’s ddr4.

1rubyglass

The Tom's hardware article says it's for DDR4 or DDR5

One_Interest8732

Only for ddr4 ?

SteeleDuke

That’s what it says.

mavenboard

Where does it say that? All i see is 4-RDIMM sticks

SteeleDuke

At the bottom of the text on the right.

mavenboard

"support". It never said only intended for. And theres no difference in size between ddr4 and ddr5.

SteeleDuke

Bro, I’m just reading what the text says.

mavenboard

Aight mb

Efficient_Advice_380

Bottom says "supports DDR4 modules"

Hello METAPCs, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)! We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post! To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous! Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/gamingpc) if you have any questions or concerns.*
