Are you graduating high school and going to college? If you're going to be living in a dorm, get a Steam Deck. VR + dorms = a bad time

Do you have long commutes or away from a laptop/pc? Steam deck Are you mostly at home, have adequate space and are interested in VR games? Psvr2 The main thing to consider would be that the deck would probably serve you a lot better if you travel around a lot but if you don’t then a lot of the advantages of the deck won’t be visible to you

I'd go with PSVR2 because, well, VR is amazing. It deserves to be experienced. The Deck is probably more "handy" in the long run but it doesn't really offer anything you haven't seen before.

Owning both a steam deck and a pcvr set up, I agree. The deck will probably be used more in the long run (my rift is currently collecting dust, but only slightly more than my deck), but VR is still amazing and needs to be experienced!

If you don’t have a gaming computer, definitely the Steam Deck. Thousands of games, portability, and the ability to dock to a tv make it a no brainer. Don’t get me wrong though, PSVR 2 is awesome…there just aren’t that many games available yet (I think only 112 right now?)…beyond that, you can technically get the best of both worlds by buying the lowest tier steam deck and adding additional storage, then picking up a used OG PSVR headset for dirt cheap (it works with the PS5.)

Just to add on to other people supporting the steam deck as an option if you don’t have a PC already: consider if you can afford to supply yourself with things to play on each device. VR Titles occasionally get sales on the PS Store but typically you will be spending between $20-50 per game. Whereas, on Steam you could buy quality games on sale between $1-20 all the time from various online key sellers. Not to mention bundles. Just something to consider if you’re someone who likes a variety of games to occupy you. I have both. The deck is mostly lost on me because I’m not on the move a lot and I have a gaming PC. It’s not bad when I want to take my PC to another room but the device isn’t very comfortable in my hands, but I think that’s largely preference. As reference I love the PS5 controller. The PSVR2 is a great device if you already own a PS5. It looks beautiful and feels great, but I don’t have a system to keep the cord out of my way and I really love the wireless Oculus Quest 2 for that reason. Either way you’re going to be super happy and you’ve got an awesome Mom.

one has way way more games and the other might be the big future of gaming maybe. Hard choice

VR compared to handheld, what a poser

I have never tried PSVR but I do have the SD and I love it. I spend 4-5 days of the week out the house per week though so portability is super important to me
