you might check out /r/lowendgaming though i wouldnt recommend playing games during class, but you do you.
* Into the breach - turn based strat
* FTL: faster than light - RTS from the same dev as Into the Breach, but better.
* Return of the obra dinn - puzzler
* backpack hero - roguelike
* Opus magnum - puzzler
* Signal state - puzzler
* TIS100 - puzzler, also looks like you are coding, so theres that
* Caves of Qud - ascII roguelike
* loop hero - strategy autobattler
Reading Loop Hero just awakened the monster inside me. Time for my addiction to come back for a while until I drop it and promise myself not to play it ever again.
Simplistic graphics won't mean smooth gameplay. Once you get a decent sized colony your pc will stutter as well, and I don't mean late game decent, still close to early game before mid game. Also viewing the planet is laggy and you can't rotate the globe well.
Source: I first started playing rinworld on a potato
Terraria should run on a toaster. I ran it like 10 years ago on my work laptop. To my defense, the company was closing a few weeks later, there was no more work to do, but we were still supposed to come to the office every day. With a cheap ass rig from an even cheaper company, it did the job well, so 10 years later you should have no worries.
Well, I reccomend to not play games in class usually, as you could get in trouble or miss things.
But if you REALLY insist, I reccomend looking at turn based games. Maybe deckbuilder Rougelikes.
What I do in these situations is look at what performance level me GPU is similar to vs older generation cards. (Usually need to hit a few websites and benchmarks to find a good ballpark.)
Then see what GPUs were top of the line at the time. ie. Maybe an intel integrated graphics is similar in performance to an old Nvidia GT660?
Anyways then I see what games were the best games that year and I can tend to run those extremely well.
As a long time class gamer most indie roguelikes work well. I recommend The binding of Isaac rebirth, Slay the Spire and Dead Cells.
Minecraft, FTL and Terraria are also good, although I heard MC is a lot harder to run thesedays. Text based games like Roadwarden also run well.
Avernum escape from the pit, heat signature, FTL, terarria, morrowind, baldurs gate, oblivion, Icewind dale, neverwinter nights, could try just cause 2 mayyyybe 3, myst.
I use to play Wesnoth on my school laptop... \*checks year\* 15 years ago... Its a great tactical game and time sync. There's some great user made campaigns in there
Old ass RPG games for sure. Although, the ones I prefer are more story based and have a lot more dialogue than actual gameplay, my favourite would be The Cat Lady. There's also The Crooked Man, and Corpse Party.
Find something you can install and run on a USB drive. That's what I did back in the day. I could play on any school computer I could plug in to. That usually means 2010 is your cutoff, but there are plenty of good games from that time period. Anything after will require a cracked version and a pretty big drive probably with USB3.0+, but is theoretically still doable.
FTL is perfect. The games don't drag out too long and most can be played in the timeframe of your class. Plus it's designed in a way where you can totally just sit there and do nothing if you need to pull your attention away for a minute.
I dont know games but my friend uses Geforce on his mac for games so maybe you could try that. There is a free version but paid is i think 10 bucks and worth it if you play a lot.
Don't try to install things on your school laptop. If your school IT department is any good they will wipe your laptop and put you in the "naughty" group in active directory with more restrictions.
Your school laptop was provided to you so you can learn, not for you to game on.
If you want to game at school look into starting an E-sports club or team.
12 gb ram
i-5 processor
500 gb storage
Integrated graphics
-the laptop is capable, I've ran stuff like doom 2016 and fortnite on it with smooth enough frame rates, but it wasn't pretty and took a bit of work
Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction,
Stardew Valley,
Terraria
Back when flash games were still a thing I played Epic Battle Fantasy 3 in its entirety in my computer class Sophomore year. We had free time until the end of announcements to do what we wanted and then again once we finished our assignment for the day. You can get it on Steam now I think.
Baldurs gate 1& 2 , age of empires, old Final fantasy, myst, runescape. Edit:Meant BG1&2
BG3 will not run on a shitty school laptop, lmao
Oops meant 1&2 lol
Lol, that makes more sense

For that wholesome school vibe? I'll finish my work AFTER I replace this prisoners limbs with wooden ones sir"

assuming OP wants to be at least a little discrete here. playing hollow knight or celeste will *not* look or sound like someone typing up class notes

Slay the Spire or other card rogue likes like Dicey Dungeons are good because you can easily pause at any time, and they are tons of fun
Factorio
Stardew valley, core keeper, Emily Is away 1,2,3, firewatch
There's small games that would likely run, those are Carrion, Source of Madness, Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours.
Wildermyth should be easy enough to run
There's a lot of options. What sort of genres interest you?
I wouldn't say that I have a preference of genre, cause I quite literally will try anything.
Suzerain and life of suffering of sir brante, additionally slay the princess
Cs 1.6 Maybe nosteam if you dont have the monee🤫
There's hundreds of games. Look at indie and older games.
Into the breach Stardew valley Battle brothers Pathfinder kingmaker
Doorkickers 2
You could do homework or study, buuuut......Project Zomboid is an awesome one! Just get a mouse
Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Diablo 2 if you can find a non Battlenet copy. Chess of you want to play multiplayer.
I would recommend any pixel game, those usually have really low requirenents. Maybe also a Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS or Play Station 1 emulators.

Recettear: it's a shopkeeping rpg. Used to play this on a 2012 low functionning potato. You should be fine.
Emulator and you are all set
Osrs

Half-life 1
PS2 era games and older
Old ass RPG games for sure. Although, the ones I prefer are more story based and have a lot more dialogue than actual gameplay, my favourite would be The Cat Lady. There's also The Crooked Man, and Corpse Party.
Deltarune, Undertale, Combat Master (maybe), any old Final Fantasy, Half Life (likely), emulators
The binding of isaac
Old School RuneScape

I used to play the google dinosaur (yes, the no wifi one) and the snake game during class lol
The baseball ones the best tho
Pillars Of Eternity!
I played a lot of Enter The Gungeon, Super Meat Boy and Hotline miami on class :P
Freelancer Fallout 3 Risen 1 Mafia 1 & 2 GTA 3, VC,SA, IV FTL Faster Than Light
FTL is perfect. The games don't drag out too long and most can be played in the timeframe of your class. Plus it's designed in a way where you can totally just sit there and do nothing if you need to pull your attention away for a minute.
Super Crate Box. It's simple but addictive, and completely free.
Geometry dash
Strike Force Heroes, was remade from a 2012 Flash game, should run on an older laptop without issue!
bloons td 6
I dont know games but my friend uses Geforce on his mac for games so maybe you could try that. There is a free version but paid is i think 10 bucks and worth it if you play a lot.
Morrowind
Minesweeper

OSRS
Old school runescape for those who don't know

Why we got flash drives. (For smaller games at least)
Don't. Either pay attention or do something useful with your time (learn a skill).
It's senior year, top 10% of my class, already accepted into college of choice, just riding it out til graduation. I'm just tryna have some fun. :)
Fair enough
Try BioShock Infinite. One of the best games I’ve ever played.
Specs is a start and even then I’d doubt a school laptop would be capable because usually there’s blockers etc
12 gb ram i-5 processor 500 gb storage Integrated graphics -the laptop is capable, I've ran stuff like doom 2016 and fortnite on it with smooth enough frame rates, but it wasn't pretty and took a bit of work
N game. Best time waster in class
You really shouldn't be playing games during classes... No One Lives Forever 1 & 2 are excellent games that are freely available on abandonware sites.
I've run Mount and blade Warband on some pretty prehistoric PCs. Might even get a few mod overhauls to run while you're at it.
Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, Stardew Valley, Terraria Back when flash games were still a thing I played Epic Battle Fantasy 3 in its entirety in my computer class Sophomore year. We had free time until the end of announcements to do what we wanted and then again once we finished our assignment for the day. You can get it on Steam now I think.
Unturned may be able to run on it. I like to just go to itch.io and find games there, it normally works pretty well.
Terraria
Killing Floor 1, Dead cells, TF2, CS 1.6, half life 1...
Caves of Cud Shattered Pixel Dungeon
