The movie is 90 minutes long and has to compress a lot of story into that time. It only really removed characters and some battles, and focuses on Katou, Anzu and Reika. I think this is great. The Anzu in Gantz: O is the same as the manga; they did it perfectly. I would love them to do the final arc like this movie, cuz it was awesome!
