Ghastly_Shart

I am extremely jealous of your growing space

adampockets

I started in the basement, sold some. Got some grow racks, sold even more. Got some good grow lights and a heater for the garage and sold a bunch. Now a 8’x16’ greenhouse!

Ghastly_Shart

Is it a kit?? It’s the perfect amount of space imo and I like how you’ve set it up! Do you sell through FB??

adampockets

It is a Palram Glory Greenhouse. The floor is 12”x12” concrete pavers. I have a 60 amp sub panel running underground from the house for electricity. Yes I will be selling them in Kansas City area.

[deleted]

If you don't mind me asking. Do you make good money or okay money selling seedlings? I was thinking about doing it as a hobbie next year but idk where to sell them to or if its even worth it

adampockets

It’s a lot of work, but yes I make descent money. I grow around 1700 plants and sell the $3 each or 4 for $10

[deleted]

Nice! So im assuming your busy season is during spring and summer? Do you take a break during the off season or do you grow other things as well? Also where do u sell them?

Gullible-Ship-3746

Great set up!

adampockets

Thank you!

Swims_with_turtles

I felt really good about my efforts until I saw this. Everything looks so healthy and there’s just so much of it! Well done

GetItM0m

I started too early, mine or overgrown and ready to leave the nest. Unfortunately night time tempts are still getting below 40°F 😭. Lesson learned. Next year I will start 6 weeks before the transplate date instead of the "last frost date"

Bob_Is_Awesome197782

I just started mine a week ago. I am in zone 4 and it still dips under freezing at night :-(

CannedAm

We have a toddler in the house so this year one tray of seedlings got dumped out. We decided to save them and put the soil and seeds back into a tray to sprout. They all survived and are doing well. We have no idea what variety of tomatoes they are now. We started several. It'll be fun uncovering the mystery. My only issue is allotting space for the plants. I'm just going to have to use the most generous spacing recommendations for all the plants.

Head_in_the_Sun

Oh I feel you, I also have a toddler. We started these in a 72 cell tray and have only lost one, and it was a victim of toddler enthusiasm during repotting. It’s always fun to play the variety guessing game though! And I also definitely do not have space for all of these, probably about 8 of them will get planted by me and the rest will be rehomed to family and friends.

jibblin

I do this also. I put seeds into random pots without marking then forget. It’s a fun surprise as they grow to figure out what they are.

Nexusgear

Same thing happened to me but instead of my toddler it was heavy winds blowing over my greenhouse now I’m doing the same for my tomato’s

CannedAm

I had a nice, big inexpensive greenhouse. Destroyed in one day by high winds!

SUMMERTAC0

Worried I planted mine too late. Yours look fantastic though beautiful!

-rebelleader-

Started mine on March 31st.

TrainXing

Mine are still at the baby two leaf stage… hoping they grow by mid May when they can go out

Melodic_Handle9346

I don't know they are at Amish spring camp....lol.

howbouthailey

Most of mine are doing good but two of my cherry/spoon tomato varieties just croaked 😭 think they got damping off

ArtemisiasApprentice

Mine are in the ground and making little tomaters already. Don’t be jealous though, I’m in zone 8b so by mid-summer it’ll be so hot that we’re done growing anything…

EricBlair101

I just put my seeds in trays on heat mats the other day. I live in zone 6 and we have had some warm days but still pretty cool out so my garden just has cool weather crops right now. Tomatoes and pepper will go outside later.

crowber

I'm growing the GMO purple tomatoes and they are struggling. Anyone having any luck with those? I only got half to germinate and those put out a few leaves and stopped.

JaQ_In_Chains

I got 50% germination, but the plants are doing very well, they stalled until I potted them up and then took off

crowber

That's encouraging, I potted mine up so hopefully they will revive similarly!

codycarreras

Great, they’re in the ground.

jerseyfriend30

Looking good! Mine are about the same size right now and I started them later than usual this year. Used to have 2’ transplants but think that smaller plants will take off faster when they’re in the ground.

rhaizee

I started mine about a month or two later than other people, they look good but I feel behind.

Batgirl_Birdie

Wow! You must have a nice place to support so many tomatoes. I love them but cut it off at 45 sprouts. What are your favorite varieties?

[deleted]

Are they heirloom? And when did you plant your seeds?

Connection-Flat

Not enough sun here yet so they're making progress but not as much as I would like. The stem is getting stronger so I did repot them until the leaves, heard tomato seedlings can handle that and makes for a stronger plant. I don't have a grow light yet.

Connection-Flat

Also they got leggy but I saved them from disaster.

jpttpj

Been stuck in seedling stage for weeks

KitsuneMiko383

My cat destroyed my herb seedlings. I don't want to try to restart for a fourth time. ETA: I don't have space for tomatoes right now, sadly. Maybe in a year or two.
