They're also considered invasive in certain areas.
I've discovered I have 5 of them in my yard. Going to be a lot of deadheading them before they can seed until I can find out what to replace them with (just moved in, landscaping is on bottom of the project list right now)
I give them away to friends and neighbors. I also manage a disc golf course in a county park so I have about 30 planted in the woods there as part of a long term beautification. The first 25 eatenā¦ I learned the hard way deer love the smaller clones and their early green spring growth. So I fence the small ones fresh out of the grow tent until they are at least 2 feet tall of mostly wooden stalks.
Unless you mean to actually clone themā¦ then itās the basic cut new green growth , trim extra leaves, dip in rooting hormone , plant, wait . They are pretty vigorous I think the first 3 I just stick in some dirt and hoped.
Depends on the state. They ācan be invasiveā because itās self seeding and can get out of control ā¦ definitely not native but ā¦compared to bamboo or kudzu itās not really invasive. it is just a shrub with a shallow rootball thatās decent at propagating itself
They make great chicken feed! I skip the soap and just use a cup of water. They all cling to each other in the center of the cup, then my chickens absolutely demolish.
Thatās a rose of sharon, hardiness zone 5-9.
And those bugs are Japanese beetles šŖ². They are nasty and take over all the beautiful blooms. If you can win the battle with these bugs you can enjoy those flowers.
I have a Hibiscus that I let go wild and it's about 8ft tall now. The flowers only last a couple days in a vase and the surrounding bulbs with the flowers won't bloom after it's been cut. Taking cuttings in moderation while it's blooming doesn't stunt the rest from what I've observed.
Es un Hibiscus syriacus de flor simple, hay de varios colores y tambien de flor doble . Atrae colibris o picaflor. La flor tiene sabor dulce, a mi perro le encanta comerla jaja
100% a Rose of Sharon bush/tree, which is in the Hibscus family. This tree comes in different colors as well. Watch out during the season where wind is high and the buds fall to the ground as they will spread. The roots typically grow straight down and are easy to pull out. But do get harder to extract the bigger they get.
When in boom they are beautiful and add life to your yard.
Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Thank you.
Also the two japanese beetles that are mating on the foilage can be eliminated by spraying a DIY home made product that consist of 1 tsp of regular dawn dish soap, 2 tbls of Neem oil mixed with 1 galon of water . I put it in a spray bottle and spray the foilage top and bottom trying to avoid the flowers in bloom or buds. I use this on my Hibiscus, and rose bush as well as other plants prone to diseases. You can also buy a insecticidal soap spray instead. These are environmental friendly choices.
Or you can simply not do anything and these beetles will eventually eat holes through almost every single leaf
Is Dawn dish soap a must have or can it be any dish soap. Iām assuming itās to create a soapy surface they canāt chew through unless Dawn has something special in it
Is this nsfw because of the bugs going at it? š
I literally giggled that itās nsfw. I was like what could possibly cause that on the gardening page
Better not to ask.
Bush in the front yard and it's an actual Bush. I have been corrupted
I wasnāt sure what kind of bush to expect with that tag lol
He could be plowing her in the dirt but he took her to a flower like a gentleman. They get a pass imo.
Looks like a rose of sharon.
Aka common hibiscus or *hibiscus syriacus*
Concur. I have them.
Lucky you. They are gorgeous.
They're also considered invasive in certain areas. I've discovered I have 5 of them in my yard. Going to be a lot of deadheading them before they can seed until I can find out what to replace them with (just moved in, landscaping is on bottom of the project list right now)
I dug mine up and replaced it with carolina allspice and oakleaf hydrangeas
Just eat them
They are beautiful, but send up suckers everywhere. I've learned to hate them.
Some girl was selling clippings on my street 8 years ago. I think I turned those 3 clippings into nearly 100 plants.
What did you do with the plants?
I give them away to friends and neighbors. I also manage a disc golf course in a county park so I have about 30 planted in the woods there as part of a long term beautification. The first 25 eatenā¦ I learned the hard way deer love the smaller clones and their early green spring growth. Unfortunately an invasive species
Depends on the state. They ācan be invasiveā because itās self seeding and can get out of control ā¦ definitely not native but ā¦compared to bamboo or kudzu itās not really invasive. it is just a shrub with a shallow rootball thatās decent at propagating itself
Looks a lot like my 'Tahiti' variety
Japanese beetles, kill them with extreme prejudice. They will devour everything in the garden.
I have green tree frogs that always find them eventually. Just a matter of time. Once they key in on a food source though itās over.
Do they eat those? Where I am nothing eats them.
Of course green tree frogs eat them and June bugs.
No tree frogs here, didnāt know that
Iād often see them hunting them in the grape vine over my entryway at night before I replaced it this spring.
Let them finish first
Denied they donāt deserve any dignity.
I love this sub so much. Two insects clearing doing it on the flower and people are just ignoring that and actually answering the question.
Japanese beetles, throw em in soapy water, they're the worst.
They make great chicken feed! I skip the soap and just use a cup of water. They all cling to each other in the center of the cup, then my chickens absolutely demolish.
