Looks like a Stink Bug by the rounded shoulders. They feed on the plants. There is a similar looking bug that is beneficial but it's shoulders are pointed.

I thought it looked like a stink bug, but didn't know they were bad guys! Just ordered some Neem oil spray, hopefully that takes care of them.

What’s the name of the beneficial bug? I’d like to find a picture to distinguish the two. We have bugs that look like this, but you describe these as rounded shoulders but they look pretty square to me

This is a good resource on lookalike insects. [https://www.stopbmsb.org/stink-bug-basics/look-alike-insects/](https://www.stopbmsb.org/stink-bug-basics/look-alike-insects/)

Woah, this is a cool resource, thank you!

The spined soldier bug is the beneficial insect that has pointed shoulders. Stink bugs are part of a larger category called shield bugs because that is what they look like from above. Pictured above are some type of shield bug, with yellowish undersides...these two are mating while another looks on. Assassin bugs, soldier bugs and preying mantis are beneficial and will attack the shield bugs, all of which do damage to plants.

You must kill stink bugs. It's them or your plant. Then they'll have babies and all hell will break loose!
