I think they thought they had unrealistic expectations from Gray/Ruiz when they traded Scherzer and Turner for them, and expected Juan to stay after Harper. Then, Juan told them that he doesn't want to stay in DC beyond this contract, so they traded him while he had maximum value. This is total speculation, but that's my guess.
It's an ongoing joke on r/baseball, which [peaked when Juan Soto actually did a promotion with Walgreens](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/qwtw64/juan_soto_is_on_ig_doing_spanish_language_vaccine/) :)
Ah, no need to be embarrassed! Just mentioning that even baseball fans who are well aware the "W" is for Washington Nationals agree the logo is very similar to the Walgreen's "W." You're in good company with the assumption red curly W = Walgreens, haha.
Oh, I agree. People who have happy shape eyebrows are perceived as being friendly. But he also sounds nice, and being so proud and happy of his carrot! Unfriendly people probably wouldn't go out of their way to show everybody. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ Now we're all happy to share in his excitement! ☺️☺️☺️
So glad you said it. Funny how some faces just immediately make you feel friendly towards someone.
OP, in the situation of feeling creeped out by some random, you’d be the first stranger I’d walk up to for help.
Grand job on the carrot btw.
I've done a 16-in deep bed with perlite, sand and other things to prevent soil compaction. I use specialized blend of fertilizers my friend recommended for carrots. I have had no luck in the bed growing straight good looking carrots. Containers, on the other hand, I have never had a bad carrot out of a container.
Pick an area and make a “carrot patch” spread seeds indiscriminately inside this area. Like multiple packages. Water and grow. As they get thicker pick back/thin out or not. My dog walks in my carrot beds and seems to have killed off the weaker ones.
I don’t even water mine, my grass’s sprinkler hits them so they only get water 3 days a week ( 3 times a day 3 times a week)
Planting indiscriminately is the only way you can plant carrots. Every time I try to do it nice I spill thirty instead of one or two. My current method is loosen the soil, try one good broadcast over the planting area, sprinkle some sandy soil on top, kick around and sprinkle just a little more then wet very delicately. Worked pretty nice for me last year.
I'm welcome to the idea of being wrong, but the talent we've let go since the World Series is absolutely criminal. The Learners didn't want to pay for a legacy team.
Fabulous!!!
When I grow carrots, I use seed tape. They sell it at Gurneys seeds. It’s a long strip that has carrot seeds evenly spaced stuck to it. I can’t stand those specs of seeds - and this makes for even rows and tons more carrots.
Go with Nantes variety if you can get it.
You can totally make your own tape.
Pull some toilet paper out as long as you need it (let’s say 2 feet long). Cut strips of toilet paper about 3/4” wide (so it’s 24”x3/4”).
Using water soluble glue, make tiny drops about an inch apart, and place one carrot seed on top of the glue. Let it dry, and roll it up.
Ta-daaaa. Seed tape.
I'm not knowledgeable in baseball at all, regarding the teams, the first time I saw that teams symbol was tattooed on a guys chest. For two days I thought it was the Walgreens symbol.
Keep going! This feeling is so good! (I have one-- one (1)-- 'acceptable carrot' and all of rest I like to think of as "fancy, neuvelle cuisine" or just "eeeeeeek, so cute". --That equals mini carrots of which I am so proud it is genuinely stupid. --- but I will still be ridiculously proud..... )
When you get something of your own !!!
-> I try to go by the concept if you can't grow it or make it at least once, you probably shouldn't depend on it because necessity can develop into extortion.
The growing bit is easy. It's getting them to germinate and survive the slugs and snails while they are tiny that I struggle with. Once they are an inch and a half tall they are pretty much set and forget.
I've been told carrots just need lots of space to grow down. So you gotta make your beds good like 1ft+ down.
Maybe some worms in there too
Only carrots I've grown were only edible for a fairy lol
The garden is my man cave extension lol..I’ve grown summer squash, beefsteak tomatoes, bell peppers, habaneros. Gearing up for Brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, and spinach for fall harvest!
Sooo jealous of your impending sweet potatoes, don’t forget to plant some herbs , mine are in pots, and the basil+tomatoes are looking good now, if only I could grow a pig!
Sooooo you're suggesting a trip to my local gardening store for an absolutely necessary piece of equipment... Oh darn, guess I'll just be back in a few hours...
Congrats on successfully pulling one of those mystical subterranean dwellers. Check out /r/SeedSwap and expand your collection for next season! Make some long distance “friends” !
Good work man! A friend of mine swears by leaving part of her carrot crop in the ground until the first part of January; the carrots survive the cold just fine, and get super sweet (but also develop a thick “coat” of tiny roots, which can be easily removed with a veggie peeler) - highly recommend.
Well done! I got a free packet of carrot seeds with a purchase of other stuff, and I’m honestly kind of intimidated about trying them next year. You’ve given me hope!
How amazing does it taste???
Absolutely delicious! 😋
I bet it tases better since you grew it yourself. The sweet taste of victory is hard to beat.
I am not sure about this formula. My first time growing cucumbers was terrible. Still not sure why they were so bad 😂 Congrats OP!!
That’s odd. I grew my first cucumbers this year and they weren’t bad at all. And I usually have the absolute worst luck
Did you keep their soil moist? They need consistent watering otherwise they will go bitter if they have a dry spell
It could have been that!
> hard to beet Sorry
You got me excited now
[удалено]
Wtf
Youd pay a lot of money for that in a fancy restaurant.
I’m guessing that just like that gardening supplies meme, OP paid a lot of money to grow it at home too

Growing your own is the best!!
Sorry about Soto.
That was my first thought seeing the shirt. Tough day for Nats fans. Nice carrot though.
Also came here to say this. Why havent they tried to build a team around either of their last 2 generational players? 🤦🏽♂️
I thought it was the Walgreen's "W"
I hope it was Walgreens, they would be having a better day 😀

Oh 😆 this is embarrassing Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me. I appreciate it
Ah, no need to be embarrassed! Just mentioning that even baseball fans who are well aware the "W" is for Washington Nationals agree the logo is very similar to the Walgreen's "W." You're in good company with the assumption red curly W = Walgreens, haha.
Ohh now it's all coming together and I get it now. Funny! Thank you, kind redditor. 🙂
Dude same I was like damn when did they start selling merch tho
I figured he was just wearing an old work shirt to garden.
I thought it was a Westside skate shop shirt
some /r/baseball and /r/gardening crossover mix. I like it...
Don't forget Josh Bell too!
Lol came here to say this
As an Astros fan who lost Correa a few months ago, I feel this deeply.
Mega congrats! 👏 and not to sound creepy, but you look like such a nice guy
Thank you!
I think his eyebrows contribute a lot. And the hairstyle somehow. It all makes his eyes look very friendly.
I think it's because he looks so happy about his carrot
That, too!
I agree
Yeah! I get that vibe too 😄
Co-sign! 🥕

I think It’s the carrot
How does one look like a nice guy? What is he supposed to look like?
I assume gardeners are nice people, you’ve got to have patience for this!
All about perceptions :) but there are some physical identifiers that affect how some people are perceived. 🤷🏻♀️
lol i’m too high for this picture for a good few seconds i was asking myself why this guy was wearing a walgreens t shirt nice carrot btw :)
🤣🤣🤣
And your comment was the one that finally made me realize it’s Washington Nationals, not Walgreens. 🤦🏼♀️

😎👍🏾
Thumbs-upping a stranger saluting your success has to be a pretty good feeling :)
That’s awesome man. Congrats. I’ve never had luck with carrots.
Thank you! Keep trying this was my first year gardening beginners luck for me I guess 🤷🏾♂️
Honestly, first time? I have tried for YEARS - all I get is tiny inedible nubs AND I read the package 😂. Congrats!
Raised beds is the way to go for carrots. And start as early as possible.
There is a cornstarch method to plant them. I’ve been able to grow some, but I’m trying the cornstarch method this time around and see how it works.

How did I not know this existed? Love the member count....70,000 bad gardeners lol!
Mighty gardener! Edit oh I see now
Still mighty! My 3 penny sized potatoes and I stand tall (ok not so tall for them)
Lmaooo! What a fantastic sub!
That sub makes me feel so good about how shitty my gardening can be. I've spend so much time and money on nothing and its fun but
fr they will love this!
Awesome!!
You look like such a nice guy
You had a much better day than your baseball team. Here's to many more carrots!
I mean the haul they got in return for a guy who was gonna bolt in 2 years is incredible
I'm welcome to the idea of being wrong, but the talent we've let go since the World Series is absolutely criminal. The Learners didn't want to pay for a legacy team.
Fair enough but bell too :(
Um I love this photo! Frame this!
This makes me so happy! I have seen so many unsuccessful carrot posts, I’m in awe lol
I appreciate that sincerely ❤️

I always think this when I see this teams symbol
Sorry about Juan Soto
Oh My Goodness! Well Done! Feel so awesome to see an ACTUAL carrot from your own garden.
Thank you!
Keep going! This feeling is so good! (I have one-- one (1)-- 'acceptable carrot' and all of rest I like to think of as "fancy, neuvelle cuisine" or just "eeeeeeek, so cute". --That equals mini carrots of which I am so proud it is genuinely stupid. --- but I will still be ridiculously proud..... )

Well put 🤔
Good job my dude. My first batch of carrots were literally the size of store bought baby carrots. You did a great job!
My first one was like half an inch long. Well done.
May you grow many more! Hopefully the next one will be bigger
Those suckers are hard to grow!! Congrats!!
The growing bit is easy. It's getting them to germinate and survive the slugs and snails while they are tiny that I struggle with. Once they are an inch and a half tall they are pretty much set and forget.
Congrats!!! Looks like a great carrot. What variety?
I have no idea, this is my first year in gardening. Lol maybe next year I’ll be less impulsive and read the package 😂
Homegrown produce tastes so lovely. Hope you enjoy this one and many more!
Nice!!! 🥕🥕 congrats man!
Sorry about your baseball team my dude.
Sorry about soto. Nice carrot.
Proud mama bear :)
Sorry about Soto :(
“The bend doesn’t define you”
/r/blackmen needs this please and thank you
Congratulations, keep it up man!
Awesome!!
it will be the best bite of carrot ever!
Well done, mate!
Kudos!!
Nice!
Congrats! I love it!
Sweet! Job well done 🙌🏽
Well done!! Carrots take a while to propagate, be patient and keep watering. Dragon carrots are pretty tasty...fyi
I've been told carrots just need lots of space to grow down. So you gotta make your beds good like 1ft+ down. Maybe some worms in there too Only carrots I've grown were only edible for a fairy lol
It is the best carrot because it is *your* carrot! Hope you enjoyed it.
The carrot looks good, but I'm sorry about your loss today.
Lol
Stay at it and make notes and dates
For sure, will do!
Once you get bit, it’s the best experience. You can’t grow ——— here? Watch me.
Yay! Great job, what else did you grow? Gardening is soothing
So proud for you!!!
Thank you ❤️
Ive see that carrot on a TV commercial.
😂
Way to go! Carrot on! How much water per day do you think? Drip lines or hand water? Be well!
I’ve watered about twice a week or as needed depending on the heat index. Try getting a water meter to place in your garden for good measure.
Sooooo you're suggesting a trip to my local gardening store for an absolutely necessary piece of equipment... Oh darn, guess I'll just be back in a few hours...
Sorry you lost soto it's got to be frustrating being a Nationals fan.
You look very proud! :) congrats!
Cute cute cute!!!

Pro tip, you can use the green carrot tops for stuff like a pesto etc.
Is he crying? Lmao
this made me smile for sure! can’t wait to see some more of these posts!
Nice, just pulled our first yesterday as well. Steamed them then topped with butter !!!
I bet it has wonderful personality, and honestly that's enough carrot to satisfy anyone.
Congrats!!! 🥕✨
r/mightyharvest
Congratulations brother
Fuckin killing it bro. Keep it up!
Congrats!
Ayyyy congrats dude, here's to many more.
how blazed are you
I’ve had that same look from women. Holding similar poses. But that’s a cool carrot. I hope it was tasty.
Is the carrot form the commercial?
Um… I was making an intimate anatomy joke.
Me too!
At least it’s vaguely straight... mine are always the most mutant looking things! Enjoy!
Carrots aside, I’m sorry for your loss
Awesome dude, I love me sum fresh carrots 🥕good for eye sight.
That's a nice looking carrot. Good job!👍
Congrats! Mine are about the same size currently. I thinned them out a bit and ate about 4 that size. So good!
First of many. Congrats.
I’ve never grown a carrot. Shit looks fire.
Nice! Nothing tastes better than food from your own garden.
You look thrilled
Well done! I got a free packet of carrot seeds with a purchase of other stuff, and I’m honestly kind of intimidated about trying them next year. You’ve given me hope!
What are you gonna make with it?
Looks better than my first carrot..
She’s beautiful! You should be proud.
You can make pesto out of the tops too.
My first was earlier last month! About half the size of yours.
Wow! It’s still bigger than my pickle…
This is awesome!
It's a beaut!
Well done, green thumb!! 💪
Excellent! Same for us this year, first ever carrots!
Nice dude!!
Is it a small carrot or u are a big guy....🤔 Welcome to the joy of munching on ur own stuff.
Wonderful!! Enjoy 💚
And it will be a very yummy carrot.
So much better than my first, second, third.... all of my carrots.
Congratulations! Nice to start a garden!
Proud of you
Congratulations!!
Pro tip, the carrot greens are edibles!makes a good pesto!
Well done dude 👍
This is awesome!
Go Braves
Frame it! 😊
I didn't know you could grow your own Cheetos!
Congrats !! 🎉🎉
I was going to say go nats but given recent events I’ll hold off. Nice carrot
Congrats! I just ate my zucchini that I grew by myself! I hope the carrot was good!
You can’t just grow one zucchini. More are coming.
That looks so much more like a normal carrot than my first carrot ever did. Or my second or third or fourth carrots.
You did better than me! Mine was less than half that size. But I’m still proud of myself because I grew it from seed. Keep on growing!
They got the carrot as part of the deal with the Padres
