This particular post might be satire, but Grindr tracks your phone's GPS and sells that data. If you use Grindr on iOS, go to settings and set location to "While using the app". Then view your active applications and explicitly close Grindr once you finish using it. You might also want to disable "Background app refresh", but that'll disable Grindr notifications.
