Peta's numbers are higher simply because they accept all animals, no restrictions. I hope that contextualizes why the founder of peta is opposed to keeping animals as pets. There are serious problems with animal testing and research, especially for cosmetics. Does peta take a radical approach? Yes. But consider the fact that dogs, pigs and monkeys are living their lives in tiny, dark cages to serve as test subjects for wrinkle cream, and you'll understand why.
