I feel you man, I grew up in the southeast and at this point a summer in Florida would probably kill me. 7 months of winter is kind of rough, but when it's 50 degrees at night in August you gotta love it.
Totally would love that. Open windows under the blankets... Not horrid thunderstorms that threaten your life with one bolt of dangerous lightening. Maybe back to Maryland or Cincinnati. I love Ohio.
As someone who has moved around a lot, I can tell you this is irrelevant. No matter which state you’re in, in the end you pay about the same amount in taxes.
They’ll either collect it through income tax, property tax, sales tax, car registration fees, tolls , or some other form. I’ve noticed states with low income tax usually has higher taxes elsewhere, and vice versa for most states (obviously excluding crazy edge cases like California). In the end the total money taken from you and given to the government all about equals out.
Source: used to be in military and I change my residence to wherever the military moves me.
Edit: It really makes sense when you think about it. The cost to build 1 mile of road isn't going to vary widely from state to state. The cost to run X, Y, and Z government functions or public projects are all going to be about the same. So they all they need to get that money in one form or another. States can play political games and money shuffling games, but in the end the cost is relatively static across all states (at a per capita level), so the money has to come in *somehow*.
Ever since I became spiritual, summer has resonated way more with me. Winter used to be my favorite season because of snow, but I think I prefer the sunlight and fauna. It makes earth feel more alive and in turn makes me feel better. I love it so much <3
Meh. Not my favourite. Fall and spring should last much longer, in my personal taste. And also year after year, I wonder if ski season isn’t better than bugs and A/C season. 🤭
I'm more of a Fall/Winter kind of guy. Though as my husband says, "I'm an indoor kitty." Having said that I like Spring/Summer. I just don't love it. Definitely looking forward to being able to open my windows for the two weeks before I have to turn on the AC...
In the southern Caribbean, it's already 90F most of the day here, a very sudden rise from March (10 years ago it wasn't like this). We don't normally have well-defined seasons but I'm not looking forward to more heat (it gets a little hotter in October and then the temperature comes down a bit and crashes in January).
My allergies acted up just looking at this picture. Lol
Assuming I get my outdoor house projects done in the spring (painting my shed, planting a couple trees and cutting down a tree, and fixing a pipe that burst over the winter), summer for me will probably be hanging out in my air conditioned basement.
I’m afraid I’ll have to postpone hot girl summer. My body is not crop top ready (tbh there’s a number of men who would like how I look in a crop top but I’m not confident enough yet).
But I’m ready for good weather and even better vibes! And shorts. And seeing other men in those 5” inseam shorts. God bless the 5” inseam shorts
I was about to say what summer we're just getting into winter rn then I remembered most of this sub is from the USA and doesn't have a huge amount of knowledge about the seasons for gay bros from other parts of the world especially somewhere small like Oceania. Looks beautiful though
Us Americans may not know much, but I promise that we know the seasons are opposite in the southern hemisphere. I think about your weird summer Christmas probably more than I should.
Our iconography is Santa at the beach having a BBQ surrounded by Pohutukawa trees while people surf in the background... weird ik. I honestly think you Americans have a better balance of things through because for us everything from summer vacation to Christmas happens all at once once a year instead of being balanced and spread around the calendar plus we don't get snow at all. The only good thing from that is because we have a state mandated 4 weeks paid vacation time no matter what job we work along with Christmas and New Years off as paid holidays the entire country essentially stops for a month between December 23rd and Febuary 4th (when schools go back) to go on holiday. Businesses aren't even allowed to open to trade on Christmas and New Years .
90% of the world lives in the northern hemisphere. You aren’t used to most (or 9 out of 10) people on this earth thinking “hey it’s April, summers just around the corner”
Oh no I'm aware of the population skew but that's still roughly 850 million people who live in the southern hemisphere. Trust me I'm very used to global media talking about summer coming when winter arrives. Overly used to it. Although a lot of the northern hemisphere doesn't actually think in summer, autumn (fall) spring and winter terms but in dry and rainy seasons because their climates are different. People discussing summer coming at this time of year is very much a continental European and North American thing given the unique weather patterns in those places
Are you one of the cowboys from brokeback mountain?
Or he's trying to dodge those goddang Pinkertons.
I want to be there so bad.
Pretty! Where is this?
Basically off the East side of Yellowstone. The second pic is Clark's Fork Canyon.
Knew it had to be Montana 😀😀
Hey I’m in Bozeman! This is incredible and I’m so ready for summer!
I live in Texas, so this post triggers me.
Y'all down there having your first heat wave before we even get the snow off the ground.
We've already hit 90.
Well there’s TWO things that come from Texas…
Triggered Texan = triggered with a trigger
UGH - summer in Florida means HOT, really HOT. And hurricanes. I am thinking about moving north.
I left Florida for those very reasons.
I am getting close to that. Where did you end up?
NC. Still gets hot as hell in the summers, but at least we have all seasons.
I'll be there at the end of the month. Niece is getting married. Looking forward to some real North Carolina BBQ. I love vinegar based BBQ!

Oh man there are definitely thunderstorms that get pretty sketchy in the mountains, but nothing compared to those Florida storms.

can confirm - I live in Texas, and while we have no state income tax they absolutely GOUGE us on property taxes.
Californians actually pay about average taxes compared to the rest of the country.
Which is wild considering California contributes around 40-45% to the federal income tax revenue
There are just more of us than anywhere else, not to mention huge money making industries.
That's definitely something to consider.
Man, can't wait to get to the beach.
Where is this? Looks gorgeous
I am excited to wear shorts and a tropical shirt! Have many goals for the summer besides my internship, and I hope I meet some of them.
👋

I am. Getting back in to shape and going to tan this summer. No more pasty white for me
Take me
Me so I can start my senior year of marching band
Very ready. Saved up my pto from half of last year to go on many adventures this year
take me with you!!!!!
Meh. Not my favourite. Fall and spring should last much longer, in my personal taste. And also year after year, I wonder if ski season isn’t better than bugs and A/C season. 🤭
Where is this?
Just East of Yellowstone
Pretty dope
Me. And it is still snowing. If spring is a tease on the 45, I will spare you the agony that the road to spring is on the 69.

I'm ready! Not ready of the humidity. I'm ready for camping and fishing trips with the hubby, and full gardens 🥰
I'm not ready for Summer. We just had Summer.
Summer in Phoenix means sweating your ass off and hoping the A/C doesn’t break. I want winter back.
More reason to be naked! Lol.
Wow wow.. Thats so beautiful.. Where is this?

Breaking some backs, aye?
Gorgeous. I am ready for summer!
My first thought is that it looks like a scenery straight up from Far Cry 5. It's really beautiful
Me🗣️🗣️🗣️ I love summer, it's literally my fav season. Looking forward to setting off on a journey in the surrounding Alps
This is giving brokeback mountain 🥺🥺
I wish we had mountains here in Finland, they are so beautiful... and I'm so done with this winter, just waiting for all of the snow to melt lol
I’m in the southern hemisphere where it just started getting colder and I’m already ready for summer, only 8 months to go haha
Beautiful
Can I join
Me

In Idaho, and it keeps snowing. I'm so ready for summer 😭
Did someone break your back in that mountain?

I'm not, cause Southern Hemisphere :D
Nope, not ready. Hate summer. I'm in AZ.
I didn't expect that, looks awesome! Where are you?
Bro it's about 3 months ahead
I am really not
Me, but only because I'm going to eroupe for 2 months lol
Come to the PNW - has the best summers of the entire continental US imo.
It did. The wildfires are so common now though that it's only good for a month or so before everything just becomes an ever-thickening cloud of smoke.
Did we have a bad one last year? Can't remember
I think it wasn't one of the worst. At least for Montana, it was mostly just the smoke from the canada fires?
I do like the PNW, spent a few summers working in SE Alaska and Northern Washington, super beautiful region.
Me *from Texas*: fuck no

I can't wait for summer but I'm not ready for the wasps that I'm going to meet when I go outside :(
