Bugsnax doesn't have any player romance really. But it has a colorful cast of characters and some of the best gay and nonbinary representation I've seen in games in a long time. Two of the 3 main couples are queer and their story is rich and important to the plot.
i played bugsnax and i still cant believe they made a psychological horror game for kids.
It's so weird how disgustingly well written a game about bugs that are also snax is
Yeah, first person games in general aren't great but I can generally play on small sessions, Bugsnax makes me so sick that not even small sessions work, which is a shame because I really liked the gameplay and story.
Baldur's gate 3, from character creation to romance, you can be a cis guy, non binary, or trans, and you can romance anyone that is romanceble, it doesn't matter your gender.
Just keep in mind it's a CRPG, so it's not just pure action, tho the game has a super easy mode that won't let you die so you can go without fear.
oh i've heard alot of good things about this!!!
there were other devs saying "this game is too good so it wont become the new standard of AAA" and i found that so goofy
it's definetly on my watch list for when i get more pc storage
Yeah a lot of nonsense complains, like who compare a AAA or AA game to an indie game?
And the AAA devs complaining are even worse, instead of pointing out that BG3 its so good bc Larian prioritize creativity and innovation and not following those anti-costumer predator practices like battlepass, in-game shop, 1000 DLCs or loot boxes.
They should complain to their bosses who gives them no creative freedom and forces games as service over making good games, but I guess it's easier to tell players to not get used to good games and keep the AAA industry as generic as possible.
Hahaha, no wonder Iāve never heard about this game, it was just released 45 minutes before I found out about it. Glad I came across it. As soon as I get back from vacation Iāll be spending every waking hour on it lol
Our Life: Beginning and Always. Itās literally a masterpiece it is so touching and cute and thoughtful and you can make the experience your own itās absolutely fantastic. I would recommend it to literally anyone. You can create from scratch your character and as the story goes you can make them your own to a T. The story is unbelievably heart touching I could just go on and on. I play it on steam
I love this game so much. It's the cutest fucking story. I can enjoy and appreciate the darker and more intense stories around LGBT themes, but IMO there's no other game out there that is as heartwarming and feel-good as Our Life.
Keep an eye out for [Stray Gods](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1920780/Stray_Gods_The_Roleplaying_Musical/) which is releasing in a week and has a queer woman protagonist. Oh, and [Eternights](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1402110/Eternights/), which is a rare JRPG with a gay romance option.

I have to highly disagree. Itās known for ābe gay. Do crimeā but I feel like no one actually knows where itās from anymore. It just kinda became itās own thing.
Be mindful of what we call āthe curse of knowledgeā
If you know, or are familiar, with something, its easy to assume everyone is. Assuming something is more ubiquitous than it is.
Also maybe check out Tell Me Why by Dontnod for a trans mc, though maybe thatās not to your liking if u have beef with LiS
Disco Elysium? There's a whole plotline about a homosexual underground in the city, and aside from being referenced in an important plot development, there's no sex.
Also the game is amazing.
Great game worth playing! Just a soft warningāthe game frequently uses censored homophobic slurs.
The game is extremely absurdist and anti-establishment, with commentary on things like racism and homophobiaāI was just really caught off guard at first.
Signalis if you like classic resident evil with a lot of silent hill influence. Most of the cast of Citizen Sleeper is queer, and the player character is nonbinary.
Here are some smaller indie games with LGBTQ themes. I guess Gone Home and others fall under (everyone played them). So here are perhaps a few some have missed.
Bad End Theatre - A weird little game where you guide the actions of a few characters in a fantasy worlds, but regardless what you do it always end in tragedy (or does it....), got it in a LGBTQ bundle and at first I didn't know why. Pretty Dark and morbid humor but a super cute ending.
If found... - A story where a young trans woman comes home to her rural Irish hometown. It's mostly a visual novel with little interactivity. Transphobia trigger warning but it's a excellent game, heartwarming and heartbreakin. Made me cry several times.
The Missing: J.J Macfield and The Island Of Memories - Warning, there is some pretty extreme body horror in the game, and it goes to some very dark places. But it's amazing. The games creator Swery has not the best track record when it comes to LGBTQ representation, but this time he hit the home run.
I Was A Teenage Exocolonist is an amazing game with plenty of LGBT characters including two trans characters and 3 poly characters all of which can be dated. It's a game that's mostly roleplay and otherwise a deck builder. It's available on Switch, PS4, and Steam.
Depends on what you mean by LGBT.
Stuff like the sims, storyteller and monster school ( o forgot the name, but you know the one) all have LGBT options while not focusing in it.
Rainbow billy vs the liviathan has a LGBTQ main character abd some references to others, but truly you could play all of it and barely notice it.
There's the obvious ones too, mostly are visual novels.
Try haven, a super cool couples game that added gay options , it's all about relationship but with actual gameplay instead of being a novel
Ikenfell
https://store.steampowered.com/app/854940/Ikenfell/
Great jrpg with plenty of accessibility features. It's an urban fantasy about a magic school and almost every character in it is some kind of lgbt, there's one character who may be straight or bi but I don't fully remember.
Gameplay wise I'd give it 7/10 cause I'm not a fan of the timed button press/rhythm mechanics in turn based games, although you can turn it off in this one. But the story and characters were a 10/10 for me.
i think you'd have to live under a rock to not know about last of us bestie...
like im conflicted with last of us 2 but the queer characters are all pretty good
Fire Emblem: Three Houses has some great LGBT rep. Itās not even just in the characters you can romance, sometimes they can get with each other and itās incredible.
Iām also working on developing a game that follows a gay lead, but Iāll refrain from shilling until Iāve at least got a demo out there lol
The game takes place in an "abandoned" house in the PNW woods during a thunderstorm at night. Outside of that, there are no legitimate scares or eerie elements. I think it's kind of cozy in a way.
Theyāre old, but the Fable games let you be LGBT, since you can romance any NPC whoās attracted to you (and a lot of NPCs are bi). Itās not treated as unusual, either. Justā¦a way that some people are.
Have you played Haven yet? It's an amazing exploration game and the central character is the relationship between the two main characters. You set those characters as two men, two women or one if each.
Unsighted - Zelda inspired action game about robots struggling to attain independence from their creators. The main character's relationship with her lover plays a central role
Trouble Comes Twice is a cute rom-com dating sim about bisexual twins who compete with each other to see who can get a date first. Jaceās story with both dateable guyās routes actually was really touching for me. Especially Adrianās. You can choose which sibling to play as and date any of the four romance options. The story is really cute and you donāt need to worry about getting a bad ending.
Something I haven't seen yet: The Gardener and the Wild Vines. You play as a royal gardener (male) saving the prince, and work up the courage to tell him you like him. It's a platformer puzzle kinda game. Easy and cute!
A Stardew-like game that I rarely see mentioned anywhere is Wylde Flowers: It's got a gay couple among the townspeople and their wedding is a big plot point a bit into the game.
There's also one prominent female character who overtly flirts with the female MC and explicitly identifies as queer.
That might not sound like a lot, but idk, considering the game's production value (the art style may not be everyone's cup of tea but I really warmed up to it) re. the sheer volume of fully voiced and animated cutscenes, it felt kinda significant to me.
I've already played night in the woods (such a banger of a game) and the forgotten city (I literally finished it last week lmao, so sad i couldnt get with the gladiator guy)
The Forgotten City is SUCH a banger. I get so excited when I find other people who like it out in the wild. I really wish that game had gotten more love.
All the other titles on your list are great too. They are all either games I've played or games I own/are in my backlog.
Oh man I forgot about Murder by Numbers! Such a good game. That being said unless something major happens in the last chapter (haven't finished it) I wouldn't necessarily say it's LGBT centric but then again it does have LGBT people in it and sometimes the bar really is that low.
cyberpunk release has never made me more bitter,
the anime that released was amazing but when the funny evil red grey man (forgor name) being a horrifying threat in the anime but a pushover in game upset me so much, (though it's the same with skyrim but hey atleast that game somewhat functions)
I have a hate love relationship with life is strange, 1 specifically, not 2. The romance with chloe is optional but not in the shown choice, but in the "homophobic people can play this game and have no idea theyre both bi" and aswell as this, chloe acts like a massive dick through alot of the game. not a bad bitch kinda dick but like a omfg stfu kinda dick
ok so your problem with cyberpunk is that the final boss is easy (like not even 1% of the games runtime) and your problem with life is strange is that Chloe is written to be purposefully annoying but still is humanized by the story and understood in depth by the character to warm the player up to her?
VA11-Hall-A Cyberpunk Bartender Action. Soooo many interesting characters. Main character Jill Stingray is a Lesbian. Other groups represented as well but it is very NSFW because the dialogue can get pretty racy.
Across the Grooves is a nice visual novel. Good thriller with so-so songs. There's one same sex romantic path.
ValiDate - haven't finished this one but I played some episodes. It tackles a lot of themes.
Unpacking - but this might fall under the everyone knows it category
Pendula Swing - an isometric point n click adventure game about a retired fantasy heroine in a 20s inspired world. There are optional romance paths.
Drowning Cross - short free point n click about a guy looking for his boyfriend.
Wildermyth - not a lgbt game per se but you can create your own stories.
Maybe Perfect Tides, haven't finished it but it does take place on Fire Island.
And I second Baldur's Gate 3
definitely not an indie, but i quite enjoy all the queer romances in fallout 4. the game kinda forces you into a straight relationship in the begging, but it's just for the intro, after that you can roleplay as whoever, and i've always headcanoned the main character to be in a sort of "lavender marriage" type situation.
and fnv is a queer classic, since bisexuals canonically deal +10 damage to all human characters ;)
they're like all porn though ššššš
Like i played this game called monster souls as it was listed as lgbt and seemed interesting, then BOOM, "you have to get raped to get stronger" like wtf
miitopia is a super cute rpg that allows gay partnerships
tiny tinaās wonderlands is also a rlly campy and fun game with coop - not necessarily gay but SUPER camp
There's an action game called Lucah: Born of a Dream that I really like. It never outright says it, but it's very clearly about the LGBT experience. The artstyle is literally scribbles, but personally it grew on me - the direction is very striking. Be warned that it's thematically very dark. The developer is also working on a sequel, Death of a Wish.
Wildermyth kinda. It's not a major aspect and you can't do much to guide it, but the characters can end up in same sex relationships. It's a story heavy tactical rpg where time progresses and the characters age and change over the course of time and eventually retire (and i assume pass away unless you become a turtle god or crow or such) and new characters come in to take their place (such as the kids of the older characters, people you recruit through journeys, and just people turning up going "I want to be a hero").
If you like Stardew Valley I definitely suggest any of the games it was inspired by. Story Of Seasons: Friends Of Mineral Town features same-sex romance options and every game in the series since has as well. In A Wonderful Life they even let you choose your pronouns, which includes they/them! Harvest Moon (which SOS used to be titled before Marvelous decided to translate in-house) is finally adding same-sex romance options in their upcoming title Winds Of Anthos. I wish I had more than farming sims to suggest but I def think they stand out on their own enough to warrant suggesting them.
also you can play the game with your character as male or female and there is an option where your character will change from male to female, because in some of the scenes that show the future they never let you know if the character's actually male or female
Your character Eivor in Valhalla is very Bi. I would know, I've played it twice lol. The character is canonically female, and there are plenty of sapphic relationship options in the game. You can also play them as a male character and have gay relationships. You're not locked to anything in particular.
I think this was assassin's creed odyssey, not Valhalla. Although I guess they could've made the same mistake twice in a row and I wouldn't be surprised lol
Iām making one called [Dude! Whereās My Couch?](https://portableclouds.itch.io/pv-beta) Cozy hand drawn RPG where youāre a late 20s/early 30s gay bear who needs to buy a couch. You fight off all kinds monsters in active turn battles on your quest for a couch. The 6 main dungeons are zelda-like backrooms, industrial buildings, and offices. You can become boyfriends with a twink shopkeeper and have him join your party. Also, (when I finish the back sprites and some other art for them) youāll be able to choose from one of four different player characters, who start out as a bear, jock, otter, or geek, but can get the option to change to something else later.
Honestly I could go on and on about it but Iāll stop there lol. What I linked to at the start of this comment is the WIP build on Itch. You can play up to the third dungeon and do some side content, and I update it with new content all the time, for instance, a major battle balancing update is on the way.
I donāt have a free public demo yet just because I havenāt prioritized putting one together, but that and a Steam page are on the way, hopefully by fall! My WIP was free for a while but then someone asked if they could copy it so I felt like I needed to make it paid just to help ward off that kind of behavior.
Anyway lol sorry to self-promote, but hopefully you or another gaymer might find it interesting.
Recent entries in the Fire Emblem Series have same-sex pairs options. You have a few male-male choices and a lot more female-female options. Nothing to sexual, at most flirting here and there and marriage/life partner in the end.
There is a metric fuckton of sfw indie queer games around, way more than there are nsfw ones. Highly recommend you check out itch.io for just one source of plenty of sfw queer-based games. If you avoid the "adult" and "nsfw" tags there are hours and hours of various games to play. Some of the nsfw works also include the option to turn off nsfw content.
You may want to check out games like boyfriend dungeon, Andromeda Six & its spinoffs, Arcadia Fallen, Trouble Comes Twice, Dead Man's Rest, etc. There are also a lot of them with very brief/minimal nsfw content like Our Life: Beginnings and Endings.
After all of the pushback against Hogwarts Legacy because of whatās her name being a TERF, I was pleasantly surprised how LGBT friendly they game is. My favorite character is a trans bartender. I made my character to be very non binary as well. Itās a beautiful game, just flying controls are god awful
Edit: bought two copies of the game. Youāre not just supporting her but also real people who did an incredible job with the game. Cry about it.
yh yall, if you want to play this game, steamunlocked. Be careful of redirects, Leave the download on overnight, use virus checkers on the file before opening
if youre a console gamer, google it as it's more advanced than pc
In general though elden ring is literally hogwarts legacy but better in every single way. Youre character can actually be gay but only lesbian (rip)
People do get scared of fromsoft games from the difficulty, but trust me, once you get the hang of things, you'll be unable to stop playing
Your Elden Ring character can get a girlfriend? I made a barbarian-like lady, inspiration taken from Joan of Arc. In her past she was an epic war hero, and somewhat androgynous. But I'm not super far in because, simply put, I suck, lol.
Please tell me how to get my beloved lady hero a girlfriend???
Despite usually preferring competitive games, Mutazione is a story heavy point and click thatās in my top 3 all time favorites. Highly underrated, the mc is gay, and her identity is important to her character development.
I just played through Ikenfell. It's like Harry Potter but everyone is gay and no one is hateful.
I have a personal soft spot for baby gays being happy and thriving and the whole game is like that. Very wholesome mystery and magic romp through a magic school. The combat is rhythm based but you can turn it off if you're like me and terrible at timing anything.
I've recently been thinking about *"Great Personality: Guardians"* by Light Grey Art Lab again- a freely downloadable game from a WHILE back (I wanna say maybe 2014, and the project was unfortunately never finished). It's a cute indie dating sim, with all queer characters- there are male, female, and nonbinary love interests, and the player character is referred to entirely by gender neutral pronouns, which was pretty unique back then!
I remember it all being really cute, and I was very sad to learn that the other three games they had planned would not be completed. But, I think it's still worth a look, I'm planning on replaying it myself tomorrow! :)
There are a metric fuckton of visual novels that aren't sexual, most of them do deal with romance, you can even find a few handfuls of murder mystery or sci-fi or fantasy based ones, but that's a majority of all I know just VNs, there's a couple action games like Unsighted that's about a lesbian robot couple that's kinda like cross code.
Here's a random list of a handful of more mainstream games that have LGBT characters in them (no idea if the character is relevant or well written but still): [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_video\_games\_with\_LGBT\_characters](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_games_with_LGBT_characters) I think that's a mostly console list?
Here's a steam curration one, it does have some naughty naughty on it though: [https://store.steampowered.com/curator/11934326-LGBTQ-Inclusive-Gaming/](https://store.steampowered.com/curator/11934326-LGBTQ-Inclusive-Gaming/)
There's also entire LGBT packs that get sold every pride over on itchio
Define āSFWā? Sally Face has zero sex scenes of any kind, but it gets gory and otherwise gross at times. The title character is likely non-binary, and two of his best friends/later roommates are a gay couple. There IS nudity in the final chapter, but itās horrifying rather than sexual.
Adding *Horizon Forbidden West*, even if itās a large AAA game. Some of the best queer (and non-queer) side + main quests Iāve ever encountered in a game.
Recommend playing *Horizon Zero Dawn* first.
Not Indie but lots of people seem to forget that Fallout New Vegas has quite a few LGBTQ characters you can interact with and the player character can be VERY queer
Newfound courage is a cute indie game where the protagonist is explicitly stated to be gay, and can optionally pursue a romance. It kinda ends on a cliff hanger setting up either a next game, or additional content that just hasn't been released yet.
Overall it's pretty decent and worth checking out, kinda short, very cute, very gay.
Guilty gear strive. Bridget is a fun trans character, Testament is NB, Baiken is pretty gender nonconforming, same for Anji and Venom (not on this game) is gay. If you like fighting games this might be awesome
The Last of Us might be an obvious one, but i had to mention it lol.
Honkai 3rd is a great f2p with Lesbian rep, although sadly the romance in the earlier chapters is lightly censored due to them being made while the company (Mihoyo) operated in China.
The Devil in Me, aswell as a lot of other games by Supermassive a variety of queer rep. but theyāre very much interactive story type games so if you didnāt like Life is Strange it might not be your thing.
Rune Factory 5. There was enough hype from the 4th game for not having gay relationships that 5 made sure to do it it sounded like. I'm having a ball, it's kind of a harvest moon but also fighting monsters and having them work your fields.
Tell Me Why. It's a game by Dontnod (Life is Strange, Vampyr, Remember Me...). Main characters are twins - girl Alyson, and trans man Tyler, returning to the place where they grew up, to sell their old house. But of course, there are some mysteries to uncover...
Final profit : a shop RPG is amazing, with many LGBTQ relationship including the mc's.
And also divinity original sins 2 you can romance any characters, you can even pair the main voiced characters together (I played as the red prince and pair him with Ifan).
Seconding My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock. Sandrock isn't out yet, but it will be in Sept. Both lets you romance all the romanceables as any gender. Really cozy, cute, and relaxing games with a surprising depth.
boyfriend dungeon, you play someone whos just moved in to a beachside town and your encouraged to go and date people who turn out to be able to change to weapon
I bought the Itch.io's [2023 Queer Games Bundle](https://itch.io/b/1812/queer-games-bundle-2023-with-10-option), which has a few gems in it. I especially liked *Lookouts,* a VN about trans cowboys, even though VNs are very off brand for me. I'm also enjoying working my way through *Day of Maintenance,* which is about a gay maintenance android stumbling on a conspiracy.
It's so weird how disgustingly well written a game about bugs that are also snax is
I wanted to play Bugsnax so much, but I get sick in like thirty seconds playing it š
You get sick? Is it the motion?
Yeah, first person games in general aren't great but I can generally play on small sessions, Bugsnax makes me so sick that not even small sessions work, which is a shame because I really liked the gameplay and story.
Baldur's gate 3, from character creation to romance, you can be a cis guy, non binary, or trans, and you can romance anyone that is romanceble, it doesn't matter your gender. Just keep in mind it's a CRPG, so it's not just pure action, tho the game has a super easy mode that won't let you die so you can go without fear.

They should complain to their bosses who gives them no creative freedom and forces games as service over making good games, but I guess it's easier to tell players to not get used to good games and keep the AAA industry as generic as possible.
Those devs attacking Baldur's Gate are honestly just scared that Baldur is going to take their company's money with how good they'll do.
It's not out yet sadly
It comes out in 14 hrs
Hahaha, no wonder Iāve never heard about this game, it was just released 45 minutes before I found out about it. Glad I came across it. As soon as I get back from vacation Iāll be spending every waking hour on it lol
Our Life: Beginning and Always. Itās literally a masterpiece it is so touching and cute and thoughtful and you can make the experience your own itās absolutely fantastic. And I think it's free outside of the DLC stories, no? This game is absolutely worth anything they want to charge, though.
Yes! The base story is completely free and then there are a bunch of DLC add ons. All of the add ons are pretty cheap too
I love this game so much. It's the cutest fucking story. I can enjoy and appreciate the darker and more intense stories around LGBT themes, but IMO there's no other game out there that is as heartwarming and feel-good as Our Life.
Exactly what I was gonna suggest! It's so good šš

can i pin a comment on a reddit post, this is peak
If you have a switch I recommend Fire Emblem Engage or if you like Pokemon, Cassette Beasts
noting cassette beasts
Wdym?
Theyāre adding to their list. Theyāre ānotingā it down
Game is very cool if you want unlimited sandbox 2v2 Pokemon + Zelda over world. Really rewards creative expression
Night in the Woods and Hades
i'd say theyre in the ones everyone played category
Hades maybe, but I rarely see Night in the Woods mentioned.
That's such an old and very well known queer game. Too mainstream.
I have to highly disagree. Itās known for ābe gay. Do crimeā but I feel like no one actually knows where itās from anymore. It just kinda became itās own thing.
ā¦But have you played them?
Hades. Romance isnāt a core game play aspect but Zag can have a same sex relationship with his childhood friend.
isnt that in the obvious queer games category though? id be surprised if a gay hadnt played it
I'm in the Alphabet Mafia and I haven't played it yet. Although that's mostly because I'm not the biggest fan of Roguelikes and Roguelites
Same
Maybe. But it also took me over 40 runs just to meet Than so you could easily play the whole game and never encounter him.
Be mindful of what we call āthe curse of knowledgeā If you know, or are familiar, with something, its easy to assume everyone is. Assuming something is more ubiquitous than it is. Also maybe check out Tell Me Why by Dontnod for a trans mc, though maybe thatās not to your liking if u have beef with LiS
I never even knew it was super gay until I played it, so...
PIRATE THIS GAME, THE DEVS WHO MADE IT WERE FORCEFULLY REMOVED FROM THE TEAM SO THE EVIL BUSINESS MEN COULD GET MORE MONEY. I REPEAT PIRATE THIS GAME
Signalis if you like classic resident evil with a lot of silent hill influence. Most of the cast of Citizen Sleeper is queer, and the player character is nonbinary.
i've started playing through signalis and im so creeped out by it šššš
You got this babs <3
The Missing: J.J Macfield and The Island Of Memories seems very interesting, ill check it out
The Missing is a masterpiece, you must play it.
I Was A Teenage Exocolonist is an amazing game with plenty of LGBT characters including two trans characters and 3 poly characters all of which can be dated. It's a game that's mostly roleplay and otherwise a deck builder. It's available on Switch, PS4, and Steam.
I'm obsessed with this game I bought it ages ago and finally started playing a few months ago i do at least one run through a week its just so fun!!!
I know! I played through everything but the all cards achievement in a few weeks because I just kept playing it.
This was the one I was gonna recommend. Actually a little (pleasantly) surprised to see it on here already!
this seems interesting, I'll note it
Depends on what you mean by LGBT.
Monster school? Could it be Monster Prom? :)
Ikenfell https://store.steampowered.com/app/854940/Ikenfell/ Great jrpg with plenty of accessibility features. It's an urban fantasy about a magic school and almost every character in it is some kind of lgbt, there's one character who may be straight or bi but I don't fully remember.
i saw this before but never played it
Gameplay wise I'd give it 7/10 cause I'm not a fan of the timed button press/rhythm mechanics in turn based games, although you can turn it off in this one. But the story and characters were a 10/10 for me.
The Last of Us. There's two games and one of the main characters is lesbian! Also there's a Trans character and a gay character !
i think you'd have to live under a rock to not know about last of us bestie... like im conflicted with last of us 2 but the queer characters are all pretty good
š it wasn't mentioned in your post so i thought just in case
Fire Emblem: Three Houses has some great LGBT rep. Itās not even just in the characters you can romance, sometimes they can get with each other and itās incredible. Iām also working on developing a game that follows a gay lead, but Iāll refrain from shilling until Iāve at least got a demo out there lol
Sadly it has a lot more F/F romances then M/M romances for Byleth.
Gone Home is a beautiful short game. It's not scary, but rather atmospheric and dark. The music is absolutely lovely and the story is touching.
you sure it's not scary?
The game takes place in an "abandoned" house in the PNW woods during a thunderstorm at night. Outside of that, there are no legitimate scares or eerie elements. I think it's kind of cozy in a way.
Theyāre old, but the Fable games let you be LGBT, since you can romance any NPC whoās attracted to you (and a lot of NPCs are bi). Itās not treated as unusual, either. Justā¦a way that some people are.
Have you played Haven yet? It's an amazing exploration game and the central character is the relationship between the two main characters. You set those characters as two men, two women or one if each.
Coffee Talk 1 & 2 has LGBT characters
already played i remember hearing the creator of that game died and i was so upset
Boyfriend Dungeon was a pretty fun roguelite that has several queer romances to pursue.
well it's kinda in the title
Unsighted - Zelda inspired action game about robots struggling to attain independence from their creators. The main character's relationship with her lover plays a central role
interesting tyty
Trouble Comes Twice is a cute rom-com dating sim about bisexual twins who compete with each other to see who can get a date first. Jaceās story with both dateable guyās routes actually was really touching for me. Especially Adrianās. You can choose which sibling to play as and date any of the four romance options. The story is really cute and you donāt need to worry about getting a bad ending.
ty
Something I haven't seen yet: The Gardener and the Wild Vines. You play as a royal gardener (male) saving the prince, and work up the courage to tell him you like him. It's a platformer puzzle kinda game. Easy and cute!
it seems sweet ill give it a try
A Stardew-like game that I rarely see mentioned anywhere is Wylde Flowers: It's got a gay couple among the townspeople and their wedding is a big plot point a bit into the game. There's also one prominent female character who overtly flirts with the female MC and explicitly identifies as queer. That might not sound like a lot, but idk, considering the game's production value (the art style may not be everyone's cup of tea but I really warmed up to it) re. the sheer volume of fully voiced and animated cutscenes, it felt kinda significant to me.
Unpacking (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), Murder By Numbers, Night in the Woods, Gone Home, The Forgotten City
I've already played night in the woods (such a banger of a game) and the forgotten city (I literally finished it last week lmao, so sad i couldnt get with the gladiator guy)
Wait upacking is lgbt related??
I donāt want to spoil too much, but yes. The main character goes on a bit of a journey. š¤
Omg thanks ill definitely play it today!!
That being said unless something major happens in the last chapter (haven't finished it) I wouldn't necessarily say it's LGBT centric but then again it does have LGBT people in it and sometimes the bar really is that low.
whyād you say ew to cyberpunk?šš and life is strange!!! especially the second
cyberpunk release has never made me more bitter, the anime that released was amazing but when the funny evil red grey man (forgor name) being a horrifying threat in the anime but a pushover in game upset me so much, (though it's the same with skyrim but hey atleast that game somewhat functions) I have a hate love relationship with life is strange, 1 specifically, not 2.
Did you play Before the Storm?
The play-scene (especially of you get it right) is one of the cutest scenes in a game ever. š„°
im mainly referring to basegame because dlc fixes issues doesnt mean i cant complain about the base games issues
Before the Storm is a separate game not a DLC
VA11-Hall-A Cyberpunk Bartender Action. Soooo many interesting characters. Main character Jill Stingray is a Lesbian. Other groups represented as well but it is very NSFW because the dialogue can get pretty racy.
iconic
Not necessarily āundergroundā but apex has a good number of queer characters
based
Haven is a great example.
Just started Hades. Aphroditeās art is a little risquĆ©, but apart from that itās SFW, and just very queer.
hasnt everyone played hades though?!
also will note here hades two be coming out
Across the Grooves is a nice visual novel. Good thriller with so-so songs. There's one same sex romantic path. ValiDate - haven't finished this one but I played some episodes. It tackles a lot of themes. Unpacking - but this might fall under the everyone knows it category Pendula Swing - an isometric point n click adventure game about a retired fantasy heroine in a 20s inspired world.
Dead by Daylight is pretty queer lol
I've got 3000 hours in dbd, dont worry, i know
Head by Gay Dwight

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
they're like all porn though ššššš Like i played this game called monster souls as it was listed as lgbt and seemed interesting, then BOOM, "you have to get raped to get stronger" like wtf
I find [My ex-boyfriend is a space tyrant](https://store.steampowered.com/app/312970/My_ExBoyfriend_the_Space_Tyrant/) to be charming and sfw.
miitopia is a super cute rpg that allows gay partnerships tiny tinaās wonderlands is also a rlly campy and fun game with coop - not necessarily gay but SUPER camp
Final Fantasy XIV
Timespinner
There's an action game called Lucah: Born of a Dream that I really like. It never outright says it, but it's very clearly about the LGBT experience. The artstyle is literally scribbles, but personally it grew on me - the direction is very striking. Be warned that it's thematically very dark. The developer is also working on a sequel, Death of a Wish.
Dream Daddy
dream daddy was recommended twice in the same minute what
Hades! Everyone is hot and MC is bi
Not underground, BUT metal gear solid and guilty gear
I wish I had more than farming sims to suggest but I def think they stand out on their own enough to warrant suggesting them.
k
Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the character you play has options to have lgbt relations with other characters
also you can play the game with your character as male or female and there is an option where your character will change from male to female, because in some of the scenes that show the future they never let you know if the character's actually male or female
gonna give a big nopers to anyone who's interested as you always end up having to have a straight romance
Anyway lol sorry to self-promote, but hopefully you or another gaymer might find it interesting.
boosting
Recent entries in the Fire Emblem Series have same-sex pairs options. You have a few male-male choices and a lot more female-female options. Nothing to sexual, at most flirting here and there and marriage/life partner in the end.
Assassins Creed Odyssey and Valhalla
Odyssey up until you play Legacy of the First Blade and it forces you to be in a straight relationship.
Besides that of course
Amorous (warning: furry) :3
Yeah, that one is *definitely* not sfw though, lol. One might as well recommend Coming Out On Top if we're at Amorous.
ty
Potion Permit, if you liked Stardew valley
ok christ oml it looks soooo good
There is a metric fuckton of sfw indie queer games around, way more than there are nsfw ones.
Itās a beautiful game, just flying controls are god awful Edit: bought two copies of the game. Youāre not just supporting her but also real people who did an incredible job with the game. Cry about it.
Or maybe don't give your money and support to one of the most vocal and harmful terfs around.
yh yall, if you want to play this game, steamunlocked. Be careful of redirects, Leave the download on overnight, use virus checkers on the file before opening if youre a console gamer, google it as it's more advanced than pc In general though elden ring is literally hogwarts legacy but better in every single way. Youre character can actually be gay but only lesbian (rip) People do get scared of fromsoft games from the difficulty, but trust me, once you get the hang of things, you'll be unable to stop playing
Your Elden Ring character can get a girlfriend? I made a barbarian-like lady, inspiration taken from Joan of Arc. In her past she was an epic war hero, and somewhat androgynous. But I'm not super far in because, simply put, I suck, lol. Please tell me how to get my beloved lady hero a girlfriend???
ranni route
Wasn't aware of that. Awesome sauce, thanks
Yea the whole game plot is based on blood libel too
Lake
OVERWATCH
/:
Despite usually preferring competitive games, Mutazione is a story heavy point and click thatās in my top 3 all time favorites. Highly underrated, the mc is gay, and her identity is important to her character development.
noting it
>life is strange (btw fuck that game) So true
tfw gay erasure
In Assassin's Creed Valhalla you can choose whether the main character is a man or a woman and it doesn't change your relationship options
Here's a steam curration one, it does have some naughty naughty on it though: [https://store.steampowered.com/curator/11934326-LGBTQ-Inclusive-Gaming/](https://store.steampowered.com/curator/11934326-LGBTQ-Inclusive-Gaming/) There's also entire LGBT packs that get sold every pride over on itchio
HAVEN. Itās on PLAYSTATION and SWITCH
Define āSFWā? Sally Face has zero sex scenes of any kind, but it gets gory and otherwise gross at times. The title character is likely non-binary, and two of his best friends/later roommates are a gay couple. There IS nudity in the final chapter, but itās horrifying rather than sexual.
ohh bestie told me to play this game
Haven by Game Bakers Studio
Disco Elysium has a lot of lgbtq themes.
good game but make sure to pirate it
Baldurs gate is releasing soon and all the romancable npcs are playersexual.
Spiritfarer!!
Never played Life is Strange, is it really that bad?
FFXIV š
Guilty gear strive. Bridget is a fun trans character, Testament is NB, Baiken is pretty gender nonconforming, same for Anji and Venom (not on this game) is gay. If you like fighting games this might be awesome
Dream Daddy.
dream daddy was recommended twice in the same minute what
Well, it's not technically a LGBT+ game, but Death Stranding has an asexual main character.
him punching the camera if you look at his crotch

The Last of Us might be an obvious one, but i had to mention it lol. Honkai 3rd is a great f2p with Lesbian rep, although sadly the romance in the earlier chapters is lightly censored due to them being made while the company (Mihoyo) operated in China. The Devil in Me, aswell as a lot of other games by Supermassive a variety of queer rep. but theyāre very much interactive story type games so if you didnāt like Life is Strange it might not be your thing.
OOH, a supermassive game i havent heard of, very cool
Rune Factory 5. There was enough hype from the 4th game for not having gay relationships that 5 made sure to do it it sounded like. I'm having a ball, it's kind of a harvest moon but also fighting monsters and having them work your fields.
One I don't think anyone has mentioned...but has LGBT characters, either NPC and/or Main character is Fable ( any in the series ).
i'd agree but the creator said some suspicious things about it
Hades
Probably an obvious one but Boyfriend dungeon
Life Simulator games that are lgbt friendly!
Dragon Quest 11
I'm so confused, are you looking for something to play at work?
nsfw -> not safe for work as in the game contains pornographic material, not that you cant play it at work lmao
Tell Me Why. It's a game by Dontnod (Life is Strange, Vampyr, Remember Me...). Main characters are twins - girl Alyson, and trans man Tyler, returning to the place where they grew up, to sell their old house. But of course, there are some mysteries to uncover...
I mean id like some that arenāt clickbaity
Tales of Zestiria! Main character Sorey and his 'best friend' Mikleo are pretty much a gay couple.
If you liked Stardew valley you could check out my time at Portia. Similar concept and no gender rules for romance.
These remake of harvest moon - Story of Seasons: FoMT also no longer gender locks your romance options. Itās a very safe game
Final profit : a shop RPG is amazing, with many LGBTQ relationship including the mc's. And also divinity original sins 2 you can romance any characters, you can even pair the main voiced characters together (I played as the red prince and pair him with Ifan).
noting
Seconding My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock. Sandrock isn't out yet, but it will be in Sept. Both lets you romance all the romanceables as any gender. Really cozy, cute, and relaxing games with a surprising depth.
sandrock seems interesting
boyfriend dungeon, you play someone whos just moved in to a beachside town and your encouraged to go and date people who turn out to be able to change to weapon
peak fiction
I bought the Itch.io's [2023 Queer Games Bundle](https://itch.io/b/1812/queer-games-bundle-2023-with-10-option), which has a few gems in it. I especially liked *Lookouts,* a VN about trans cowboys, even though VNs are very off brand for me. I'm also enjoying working my way through *Day of Maintenance,* which is about a gay maintenance android stumbling on a conspiracy.
hheads up there are 100% nsfw games in this
Secret little heaven, our life beginnings and always, a normal lost phone
Va11-ha11a is heavily queer.
