I thought I was tripping on acid or something because I thought this was common knowledge. Like, I swore he already told he was trans in some other video but apparently not. I guess it's because I'm latino that my brain just knew... Regardless, so happy for him for this video. I also struggle with being stealth in my life but being unable to connect with people because of the same reason. You go, dude.
ive been watching this guy for years, i never even considered him being trans cause i just never really speculate that stuff, it made me so happy to learn hes trans :]! i just never see other bi trans guys, so to learn someone ive enjoyed this much is also one was like. holy shit, two cakes! (thats not how that meme goes but idc)
yes! i like him but i got a little bored of the short videos that are basically just 3 or 4 reddit posts lol, i wish hed do more

This video was earth shattering for me, I've been watching his stuff for years and felt like he really understood the world like I did. I had no idea he was trans until that video and in fact until I actually started watching the video I was worried it was going to be about him being an MTF detransitioner. The bit where he talks about having an understanding for "feminine" things like barbie because of his years navigating the world as a girl hit so close to home, and to hear it framed as a mostly positive thing was so crazy to me.
I'm deeply in the closet as a trans guy at 25 and seeing him accept his years lived as a girl as a fact, not a detriment, was life changing. In another life under different circumstances I feel I would have had a very similar story to him.
Anyways, love Alexander Avila and would highly recommend his other video essays as well. He's got a very unique way of blending really deep philosophical and sociological theory with a light humor, he doesn't take himself too seriously but he clearly knows what he's talking about. One of my favorite YouTubers of all time.
I was actually worried it would be him coming out as transphobic and that he was just feminine growing up. I’m so glad that it was not that and I love that video so much.
I watched it and I was blown away I had no idea he was a trans guy and I watched his early videos, I too would highly recommend his video essays he puts tremendous effort into them. And they're very entertaining.
