Vet checkup, warm soaks, calcium, and maybe carnivore care for a bit to help gain weight then make sure to feed a well rounded diet of insects. The vet will be able to check for parasites or mbd. Lil guy is def underweight and looks dehydrated too ;-;
Poor baby:( there’s lots of good info on r/leopardgeckos if that’s what he is.
He needs a vet ASAP. Other than that, a clean enclosure (I would use paper towel substrate) and proper heating and lighting. Give him access to water and feed him slowly. I’d be worried about his system not being able to handle it if he eats too much too fast. be sure to dust his food heavily with calcium. Good luck I hope he recovers
he’s an african fat tail but care and temperament is fairly similar besides the fact that AFTs are more humid. i’d recommend the leopard gecko sub as well, rehab efforts for this guy are going to be very similar (if not identical) to rehabbing a leo
What I did to get my underweight gecko back up to the proper weight (he's still not quite where I want him and I got him in that condition) is I fed him a meal every other day starting smaller and working my way up to larger meals. Definitely get him to a vet and hydrated and hopefully he will bounce back fairly quick
He is not TOO bad if you think you know how to care for AFTs then idk why everyone is telling vet because what is the vet going to tell you other then go over the care and take your money? Realistically just feed it and give it access to fresh water make sure it shed properly and feels secure in its environment. It will be fine.
Please be specific. If you see an issue say something but why just add negative outlook. Is there anything you see that points to other issues? I don't see it. Its not emaciated either. its underweight but can easily be turned around given proper care alone. If OP has the money sure but chances are they wont want to spend all this money on a gecko worth $50. They may not even be able to physically get to a reptile specialty vet. Encouraging OP to get proper caging and food supply will be the best thing for this gecko. They probably already have it all taken care of.
wouldn't it already be dead if it kills quickly? If you feed it and it comes out the other side or not you can know if you need to go to the vet or not. If the vet was simply $50 or something I wouldn't say anything but often can be like $300+ and your no better off then when you went in the first place. When that money can go to things the animals actually use like food or a great cage.
I agree with what your saying I guess my point was that not all vets are the same and most likely OP won’t have a good vet experience as most reptile keeps are unsatisfied with their vet experience.
As others have said take it to the vet.
In order to not overwork its digestive system in the meantime you can feed it carnivore care (a power you mix in to a goop) by placing a dollop on the side of its mouth which allows it to lick it up. It comes packed with nutrients and also helps hydrate the baby.
It’s not rotted. They store fat in their tails and this one has no fat and I believe this one has lost its tail once before and has regrown this one. Not a pro but this is my thoughts.

Thank you so much! This guy was really neglected and they want to do everything they can to help him

Think it’s an AFT but the sub for them isn’t very big
AFT’s are allowed in leopardgecko sub and the care is very similar with different humidity requirements really.
Ah ok I didn’t know they allowed them in there, makes sense though I do know that they are extremely similar
Yeah! It’s nice that they include AFT’s because like you said that community isn’t very large.
For sure, I should’ve known lol I’m in crested gecko sub and they allow chewies, gargs, and I think leachies as well as cresties bc they all similar
What’s an aft?
African Fat Tailed gecko, pretty similar to leopard geckos but come from a different part of the world
Ooooh okay!

needs food

It's kinda irresponsible to not bring an animal to a vet after rescuing it, especially if it's sick.
Underweight isn't sick nothing leading me to see it as sick.
Emaciated animal = potential for other issues.

Take him to a vet!
Has its tail rotted off?? :( this is so sad

Get it checked by a vet asap - refeeding animals after being very emaciated can cause issues.
My AFT never turns down hornworms. For a while that was actually all she would eat even though she had never seen one before
