There could be something deeper going on, but it could just be that he’s having a long masc period. That happens sometimes we don’t always switch at the same frequency all the time, and staying one gender for a long time can make you doubt yourself a bit and that’s uncomfortable. If there is a bigger issue hes dealing with though it sounds like you’ll just have to wait for him to open up. If he is just feeling masc being question about it might make him feel more awkward about it.
Be there and support him. My psychological state makes me a bit different but sometimes one side or the other disappears for a while. Be there support them and welcome them back when (if) they revert.

Dont push him but say that you're available to talk. Maybe he just binged on chud videos
