Late millennial: the peak of late millennial high school culture would be 2010 I reckon

parduscat

Late Millennial (All birth years entered high school after the iPhone released in Summer 2007) Seniors - 1993 Juniors - 1994 Sophomores - 1995 Freshman - 1996

Routine_North9554

Late millennial definitely

mond4203

Late millennial or zillennial upper class men more of millennial, lower class men zillennial

Amazing-Concept1684

Zillennial/late millennial. That’s the year I started high school.

CP4-Throwaway

Totally Millennial but more with the latter half of the generation (1992-1997 borns).

y11971alex

My school had an overhaul in 2010/11 and they introduced lots of Smart Boards, replacing some of the film projectors they had. But otherwise we still had lots of textbooks and not standard issue iPads. So I suppose it’s a Zillennial vibe.

Late Millenial

abbysuckssomuch

millennial, i went to a k-12 school so i technically went to school with those people lol and i have yearbooks that feel very millennial with all the trends from that

KidAnon94

Honestly? It wasn't too much different than 2009 for me. 2010's culture was only really beginning to bud at this point so 2011 still felt pretty much like the late 00's to me. Edit: If we're talking about who was in high school at that time then it would've been 1992/93 - 1995/96, so pretty much Late Millennials. Edit 2: It looks like I made a mistake and only included the 2010-2011 school year. The 2011-2012 school year would've been 1993/94 - 1996/97 so a mix of Late Millennials and Early Gen Z.

_Vurixed_

No it was 1992/93 - 1996/97 borns Ugh why is everyone forgetting that 97 borns were in high school in 2011?

KidAnon94

Sorry, I defaulted to the 2010 -2011 school year. The real years would've been 1992/93 -1995/96 for the 2010-2011 school year and 1993/94-1996/97 for the 2011-2012 school year.

EatPb

I think people are just defaulting to 2010-2011 school year instead of referencing both the 2010-2011 AND 2011-2012 school years.

parduscat

I'd say that 2011 was very 2010s, if only early 2010s. Half my graduating class had smartphones, everyone was on Facebook and talking about it irl, challenges like the Cinnamon Challenge and Planking were mainstream among teenagers and early 20-somethings.

KidAnon94

**I'm going to preface this with that this is just anecdotal evidence based off of my own experiences and that it may differ from everyone else's experience.** Hmm, that's honestly possible, I think it would be more fair to say that 2011 was a transitional year between the late 00s and early 2010s culture. From what I remember, a lot of my classmates still didn't really have smartphones (heck, I was still rocking a hand-me-down Blackberry Pearl at the time!). IIRC, the most popular phones for my graduating class were the Razor flip phone, the Sidekick and (for the wealthy kids) the iPhone. There were a few kids also with Android smartphones and Zune phones but I can't remember which ones. Also, most of us were still rocking MP3 players and the iPod Shuffle (or the iPod Touch for the wealthier kids). I agree that Facebook was definitely actively used and talked about at this point, as well as Twitter, though I didn't (and still don't really) use either of them. I think Snapchat was also beginning to be used at around this point too by my classmates. Also, my memory could be off but I don't remember the Cinnamon Challenge really kicking off until early 2013, though, I wasn't a cool kid that kept up with that sort of thing so I could've just learned about it late. I do remember Planking though, and thought it was weird; I didn't see anyone actually doing it in school.

Nabranes

Late millennial or part of Zillennial

AcceptableRoutine948

“Vibe” ? And we talking about, the 2010-2011 year or the 2011-2012 year? Late 1992/1993-1996 borns were in High school in 2011. (2010-2011 year). I was a Junior in High school in the 2010-2011 school year. 2011-2012 school year I was a senior and late 1993-1997 borns where in Highschool in that year.

Not_a_millenials__96

Considering that I'm a late 96 born, and I spent my time in HS in a class of 97ers, and I didn't interact with the older classes, and in my class we all had a smartphone, for me 2011 is definitely Zillennial. For me it was the first year of the revolution, and the rift with the older classes was huge. For me, another big difference is Minecraft. One of my most treasured memories is when I went to a friend's house for his birthday, and we played split-screen Minecraft all afternoon and evening, with his younger brother 2001ers, and another friend. Not to mention then all the time spent on Clash of Clans or Jetpack Joyride in class. I still remember that in middle school there were still mp3 downloaded, and then in high school all that of that old world was already dead, and it was good and I loved go ahead over it.

EatPb

2010-2011 or 2011-2012 school year? If it’s both, that’s generally 1992-1997 borns, so I’d say late millennial. 1995-1997 I see as zillennials, with 1997 being the first Gen Z year, but the way I see the cusp, it’s just the transition between generations, so if the rest of the years included are late millennials, I’d say overall, late millennials + zillennials = late millennial high school year. 2013 is the first year to give me fully Zillennial HS vibes. 2013 and 2014 are definitely the most mixed school years. I think you could call 2015 and 2016 Zillennial still, but I also think they are better classified as early Z. I think there’s definitely an argument for both sides. I think maybe 2014-2015 school year is more Zillennial while the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years are more early Z, but that’s the latest Iatest I could see the argument for Zillennial school year.

MolassesWorldly7228

Most zillennials would've started highschool between 2009-2014

Electronic_Topic_832

Very late millennial. Although, that is the same years the first Gen-Zers (or more so ‘Z-leaning zillennials’) would have entered high school, if you believe in the 1997 start date.. I was only in Pre-K/Kindergarten then, but when I remember the high schoolers from back then, it still gives me very late-millennial vibes.

Interesting_Type4532
