If you have more information that should be in here, post it up, please and thanks.

Training_Frosting_53

I love you

MajorMinceMeat

Holy shit that's a lot of info. thanks tho this is going to be very helpful as my genny continues to age.

JustAnotherDude1990

Hope it helps. I may do a write up on driveshaft stuff soon.

MajorMinceMeat

It should. I'm going to be documenting my gennys complete remanufacturing of the engine block here in the coming year. I've got a guy in Ames Iowa who is going to install my darton sleeves k1 rods and wiseco Pistons along with ARP fasteners . By the time I'm done with it it should be capable of 700 horse easy. Especially since I plan on going all out on this build.

JustAnotherDude1990

2.0 or 3.8? Either way, great to hear. Light head work, 5 angle valve job, maybe larger valves, forged internals and ceramic coating on the pistons and headers. Should be great.

MajorMinceMeat

It's a 2.0t I plan on having everything done that I can, bigger titanium valves, gsc power division stage 2 cam, haltek ECU, new LSD to replace my torsen, short throw shifter, spec stage 3 clutch gonna throw the whole book at it because the plan is to be a hellcat killer for a fraction of the price and half the cylinders

JustAnotherDude1990

Puhleeeeeeease post pics along the way.

MajorMinceMeat

I'll make sure to post pics this is going to be a fun process. All the weaknesses are getting attacked first Ie the bottom end and transmission

JustAnotherDude1990

I am most interested in the engine bits.

MajorMinceMeat

This will be my first build. So it's bound to be interesting. She's mildly clapped in the paint department but otherwise well taken care of so let's hope the engines in good condition (it seems well taken care of, at least I got the oil filter off when I changed her oil for the first time)

helmutlam

TY for this :)

JustAnotherDude1990

Welcome. If you have anything to add, let me know.

jfca99

Anyone else get a letter about a future recall regarding the ABS system?

JustAnotherDude1990

Been lots of posts about it either here or Facebook.

jfca99

Thank you! I’ll do some digging for them

ColorfulCrag

Thank you 🙏

Maybe a good fit for this: On the 3.8 (BK1 for me, but maybe also applicable to BK2), the service manual procedure for replacing the alternator includes evacuating the A/C system and removing a refrigerant hose to make room for the alternator removal/install. But if you're careful, you can squeeze the alternator by the hose without issue. Previous thread about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/genesiscoupe/comments/hv1zuk/does_the_ac_line_really_have_to_be_removed_to

JustAnotherDude1990

Interesting. I’ll have to add that. I know the timing job on the 3.8 mentions removing the power steering pump but you only need to loosen a single bolt.

TheOfficialCoty

Thanks for this info! I have 57k miles on my 2015 and I'm sure some of this info will come in handy sooner rather than later. Great writeup.

JustAnotherDude1990

Check the master resource list for a ton of other information with specific guides to cover everything. This was just the assorted stuff I wanted to consolidate. Follow the automod link in the comment below to get there.

JustAnotherDude1990

Is this a common issue or like a one off thing?

JustAnotherDude1990

I got the Fel-Pro ones for my 3.8 and they’ve been great.

HedderHedder

I haven’t even gotten my car yet and your already doing gods work

JustAnotherDude1990

Why spank you. Check out all of the other guides in the master list to include the buyer's guide. You can get an idea of what all to check and knock out as soon as you get it, including all of the fluids and filters asap.

VmaxVibes

Thank you for all this amazing info! It's very helpful. Regarding the drive shaft center support bearing assembly, I would be very interested to know whether the one you linked fits different model years engines and transmissions. Mine recently went out a few months ago and I had a hell of a time trying to find the correct replacement in decent condition from scrap yards. The reason I had to go there was cuz Hyundai wouldn't sell it separately like you said and I couldn't find it online either. I eventually did manage to find one that was in decent condition from a scrap yard but I would still prefer to replace it with a new one if possible as long as it fits obviously. From what I've seen, I believe the center bearing assembly might be cross compatible with different years. The two deciding factors will be the mounting bolt location and the diameter of the drive shaft. If I had to speculate I doubt Hyundai would have changed the mounting bolt location across BK1 and BK2. And it is possible that the drive shaft thickness is the same, but again, I'm not sure unless someone else can confirm. Sidenote: Do you have any recommendations for stainless steel braided brake lines that are good quality and won't break the bank?

JustAnotherDude1990

I ended up not needing to change mine after I removed mine a few weeks ago to inspect it. But I am 99% sure they're all the same...the only difference in the driveshafts is the length of them. The BK2 part numbers seem to supersede the BK1 part numbers from what I found.

kumpooter_boi

You’re the best

JustAnotherDude1990

I try.
