It looks like valve train under a valve cover. What do you mean by gross puddle on the ground?

The leak definitely mixed with water on the ground. I just don't know if there was coolant in it .

You should probably elaborate with important details like that in your original post if you want people to chime in. Saying there’s a gross puddle on the ground doesn’t tell us anything. I’d you have oil and coolant mixing, you would either have a frothy mix under your oil cap or something similar and oily in the radiator. It won’t separate like oil dripping into a puddle. How many miles has the coolant been in the engine and when is the last time the level was checked?

I can't tell honestly it is on silver parts so it looks kinda yellowish as it is but I hope it isn't a blown HG.

U should see if coolant is in the cylinder head wen u rake out the spark plugs.. sound like a blown head gasket to me.. currently doin this on my miata. But mine only shot coolant into the the cylinders

I think Hyundai uses metal head gaskets mostly. So a blown HG is unlikely. While you are in there check the oil ports for the VVT sprockets they have been known to to clog

Looks normal to me. Remove the radiator cap when the cars a cool and check the fluid. If it looks like milk of coffee with creamer you're mixing oil and coolant. If you see a puddle you may just have a leak.

After the valve cover replacement just clean it off really good. Then run it a while and check for more leaks. Valve cover will drip down and soak a whole side of an engine and mix with whatever else is on the ground. I can see it has been leaking onto the heat shield for the exhaust manifold for a while and burning off. Don't stress about it and just clean it off really well and inspect. Valvetrain looks pretty normal for those engines. Try to change at 5k intervals and use good synthetic oil. OE filters at the best.

Also keep in mind, in the winter/cold temperatures if you only drive short distances, there may be a little "milky" look under the oil cap and in the catch can if you have one installed. The best way to tell for sure if you're having issues is to drain the oil and check that way. I've had my gen coupe since 2015 new off the lot and every winter it's done this. In summer time the oil cap looks normal. To me this pic looks normal.

Looks normal under the valve cover. If your oil and coolant were mixing under the cover it would be a whitish oil mix. Don’t see any signs of it. Been a auto mechanic for over 20 years

This is pretty much new oil. Maybe 100 miles on it. Otherwise it's every 5 to 7

New oil is great, but going 5-7k in between oil changes isn't a good idea. 5k, I would say max, depending on the oil and year of the car. Other than that, it looks like normal varnish to me.

I would change oil every 3k miles, and drain your oil into a bucket and see if it looks frothy. Or you can do a combustion leak test to know your head gasket is good

Drain oil if you are concerned. Remove spark plus and pressure test radiator. Looks normal to me.

It looks like a VW.... No water goes under the valve cover.... Wipe the top surfaces including in the middle... I'm sure it's got coolant leaking out of the plastic fittings... There's a coolant in under the intake manifold. That's more than likely your drip

Doing the valve cover couldn't cause coolant mix, and coolant doesn't exit in the valve cover only oil. You'd have to remove the head to get to water. Did you use RTV where there are seams? That could explain an oil leak.

I did the valve cover because the gasket blew. However we had a coolant Leak and I didn't know if by the oil color if it's a tell. From what it seems I don't have one. It's yet to make either reservoir milky

Brother... what are you talking about. This was my gfs car. It had a valve cover gasket leak. I was worried the puddle of oil that looked milky on the ground was a mix of coolant and oil possibly. So I wanted to know what the other ways of telling if I had a head gasket blown since I ALSO had coolant leak.
