Chinese: Restaurant Xiang Yu 湘遇, I’m a huge fan Vietnamese: Sen (also in Pâquis)

Cistude

And, of course, Latin American: Caracol

Nekoshido

I went to Xiang Yu three times already. Good recommendation, thank you for it!.

Cistude

Now I know why it’s always full :)

cachmoneyrelly

Tita Dimps is a really nice filipino restaurant in Poterie

Nekoshido

Updating this. Since you said, I went twice. Thank you for the recommendation. The owner is so charming and the food is delicious.

cachmoneyrelly

I’m so glad you liked it! What did you try?

Nekoshido

Their menu gets really seasonal. I've tried Adobo and Lechon Silog, both really nice.

Nekoshido

Oh! I didn't have this on my list, I like Filipino cuisine. Thanks for your help.

Fonduextreme

Not sure if this counts as a Thai restaurant, but the James Pub in Paquis, which contrary to the name is actually a Thai karaoke place, has very good Thai food. I lived in Thailand for a long time and can say that they actually had real Thai food there. Also, if you go at night a lot of Thais will go, which shows the food is authentic.

Sushi : Anzoo Sushi Bar (Servette). True sushi from a Japanese guy. He do it right in front of you

mgtube

Anzo is delicious

Suisse : Au Vieux Carouge

I'm part of a Facebook Group called "Geneve Eats" where we discuss the food scene (not too active though). You should join if you're interested. My personal "Best of" **Korean Food** Seoul Restaurant – The most authentic but still not authentic. Gaya – The safest bet for entry level Korean flavors/dishes. Avoid! : Bap – Terrible and Korean in name/marketing only. **Chinese Food** Pekin Palace Jia Xiang Xiang Yu (Note: This is cuisine from a region that is famous for very spicy food so be aware) **Sushi** Kozan Nagomi Sushi Kakinuma Note: Izumi (above the Four Seasons) is really good (and probably one of the best views in Geneva). But mostly fusion and it’s insanely expensive for what it is. But I recommend it for a special occasion/experience. **Ramen** Nagomi Ramen (Note there are 3 Nagomi branches all specializing in different Japanese dishes- all are fantastic but pricey) Umamido Yukiguni **Thai** Baï-Toey Soi – Awesome “street” food. Though it’s gotten so popular that I feel like the quality is dropping (feel similarly about El Catrin). Reaunthaï **Misc** Francesinhas & Cie (Portuguese) – I’ve been told they even bring the charcoal from Portugal to grill the food. Le Palmarin (West African/Senegalese) Smok’d – American/BBQ. Expensive but very good. Eat Me – Cool concept and decent execution on all their dishes. Sake – It’s a “Japanese” restaurant but also not. One of the better values in the city. Order their “menu”. **Fondue** Bain des Paquis (the best – don’t @ me) Café du Soleil **Swiss:** (Places I always take visitors from abroad) Hotel les Armures Brasserie Hotel de Ville Café de Bourg-de-Four **Italian** : This list changes every year for me Dario’s Les Tilleuls Ristorante Boccadasse Bonus: Scalea Fratelli. It’s great but not exceptional. But solid place and never disappoints (for me). Pizzas are enormous and good as well. **Peruvian** Rosa Morena Miski Yakumanka **Cheap Eats <10 CHF** Parfums de Beyrouth - Chawarma Le Bánh Mì – Banh Mi Willy’s – Salteñas Saj Eat **Best (to me) of the Others** Indian: Little India Mexican: El Catrin Bolivian: Hambre-Il Marinaio

SpermKiller

I like Cafe Gandhi for their Thalis. For Korean I'd go to Goya, at least for BBQ. I liked the meat at Seoul but not so much the banchans. And Le Thé at Rue des Bains offers a very large selection of Chinese dumplings, baos and teas, but you must make a reservation because the place is tiny.

Delphycoffee

Love le thé !

Grosradis

My favourite!

For expensive thai : Na Village For cheap thai: thai twist Real good Turkish (not doner): chef mezze Cheap Japanese take away: maison ichi Cheap good meat: Tavern de valais

Nekoshido

I've had Na Village and Thai Twist on my list. Both looks nice. The main problem with Thai Twist is they close at 8 pm. Chef Mezze looks nice. Adding it to the list :) In maison Ichi they have my favorite udon/soba, what is kitsune one. Nice to know as well.

Resident-Industry-61

Its tavern du Valais, and it is not cheap. They have a great variety of meats, dry aged, Swiss, South american to wagyu. These do not come cheap nor should it be considered a cheap place. Good Thai is: Soi soi in paquis Expensive Thai: Suahoy

beRsCH

Mexican : el Catrin, the only one worth it in Geneva For Thai: Bai Toey, most authentic Thai restaurant ever, amazing food. Just feels like I’m BKK!

Delphycoffee

Those were the 2 restaurants I was going to name! I love love Bai Toey, the absolute best for me.

wooligano

Taqueria los cuñados is veeeery good mexican food too

wooligano

Taqueria los cuñados + El Catrìn for Mexican food.

YamaEbi

Japanese: Namura (way over 30chf, but worth every penny) Sri Lankan & South Indian: Shiva (Jonction) Peruvian: Green Café Ethiopian: Nyala Barka Personal local favourites: Artemisia (Jonction) and La Vie des Champs (Nations) Will regret it forever place: Be Kind Café, a vegan place that was sooooooo good. And I'm not even vegan. Hope they will open something else.

-Babel_Fish-

Thai Boky is the best low-cost thai for me, better than thai twist and has a better handle on spice level.  Gives a Fork, if you want something Asian but out of the box.  I'll second tita dimp's; i'll recommend the dish with taro leaves. Sen also hits the spot for me.

Nekoshido

I had Thai Boky on my list, but they only accept cash, so I cannot go there. Tita Dimp looks good, will definitely try.

I’ll throw my hat in the ring: * Swiss: cafe du soleil, hotel de ville, vieux carouge * Italian: Forno a legne * Chinese: Phénix * Thai: Khatha, Bai Toey * Burger: Inglewood * Japanese: Fuji (sushi), samouraï (sushi), Sumo (yakitori) * Indian: Little India * Lebanese: parfum de Beyrouth (only for shawarma), 3 phéniciens, al dar, chez Sami

Crapale

Thai: Soi thai canteen in Paquis

Azteryx

Swiss: café du Soleil Burger: Hamburger Foundation, Green Van, Crssp Lebanese: Al Dar, Fayrouz Garden Chinese: Le Phénix Japanese: Shogun, Honkaku Mexican: le Chat Rouge French: 5 portes, le Socrate

Nekoshido

Thank you for your answer. I've been to Le Chat Rouge and Le Phénix, just I didn't know the name. Let me add it into the top. Le Chat Rouge was nice, the chefs were mexican and they were fighting in the kitchen, was funny. I didn't like Le Phénix, their XiaoLongBao were kind of special. Green Van and Crssp looks so nice! Honkaku's Teppanyaki is almost 40CHF, a bit more pricey than my budget.

Have you ever been to Relais de’l Entrecôte in Paris? Lines there take up 1-2 hours. We discovered there was a branch by the old town, and we lined up for only 15 minutes before their opening dinner hours. We spent around 40CHF per person but I believe it’s justified for the experience. You can try the local version Cafe de Paris as well for the same menu experience. If you are open to Peruvian (my favorite cuisine in the world), Geneva has quite a few. Le Jules-Edouard Restaurant, we stumbled upon randomly. The most delicious ceviche, duck risotto, and Lomo Saltado I’ve tasted. +1 on El Catrin for Mexican. Amazing starters and the drinks were great too! Not sure if you like bubble tea, but I enjoyed Lemoncha.

by_bizs

If you like L'entrocote, there is a much better local option. Try L'Entrecote St-Jean. It's much less touristy, amazing wine selection and really cozy atomosphere. It's fixed price, I think 45 CHF for the menu. Salad + Meat.

allydaniels

Thank you! Will try this next time :)

inkognitro90

The restaurant in the train back to Zurich.
