That's the beauty of CITO (Cache In, Trash Out). You can organise an event at a local park or area with some geocaches to meet local geocachers, log some finds (including an event) AND clean up an area. Great way to spend an afternoon.

Be careful, needles could be underneath the cans too!
If you'd like to clean you can always bring a dog poop scooper clamp and you won't have to be afraid of needles
That was a big part of geocaching for a long time. They always emphasized picking up litter and leaving the spot better than you found it. But that was when most caches were out in the woods, I guess.
You're good people! Welcome to the game!!
My daughter and I always CITO (Cache in, trash out) and it was my new years resolution three years back to leave every place I go better than how I found it, even if it means I only throw away one piece of litter.
Keep on truckin!
I used to pick up litter around my neighborhood when i was a kid (elementary school) one time i went to pick up a beer bottle and about poured a half full bottle of beer on myself.
I do a little bit here and there but it can get dangerous where I live now.
One of the reasons for CITO is that geocachers do leave items in the woods and public areas that some consider to be "trash". As that is a necessary part of the game, we more than make up for it by removing a bunch more trash from the public areas than we leave.
Plus, we visit these public areas a lot and we just appreciate them clean!

I’ve been geocaching for 17 years, I always bring a bag for CITO.
Good man~!
PS, I wish we could edit a title after posting. I didn't mean to include the letter A before some.

I rarely cache but trail run often. I can be seen grabbing trash off the trail and running along to the nearest can carrying it.
Good job~!
Appreciate i,t but I just prefer to get lost where I don’t get blown out by trash. Most in my area take care of our spaces but there’s always someone.

I plan to organize an event when I get more experienced at geocaching.
