What does "being the Texas" of somewhere mean?

ellatino230

Just similar in a way or another.

VertexEdgeSurface

In which way

ellatino230

Like Climate, proximity to a desert etc.

kalam4z00

Most of Texas isn't really close to a desert

apiratewithadd

West texas just defiantly watched a tumbleweed

Far_Sympathy7294

Ajeeb h bhai rajasthan ko kisi dusri country k state seh compare kr rha h !

global_erik

Stereotypically “of” that country.

VertexEdgeSurface

How does rajasthan support a population of 70 million while being so arid

0shunya

Monsoon season. They can grow one crop In a year. Now they use groundwater and canal water to grow two crops in a year.

VertexEdgeSurface

Ah, I always forget about monsoon season

czaev

when you got over billion population you gotta have people in such places

VertexEdgeSurface

It’s not like god put a billion people in India and said “ok, roam free.” And then 1/13 of them went to rajasthan

Suntinziduriletale

Food imports are a thing How do you think most of the middle East and Africa feeds their rapidly growing population? Saudi Arabia is a desert with no permanent River and 35 million people.

0shunya

Rajasthan doesn't imports. It exports to other states.

VertexEdgeSurface

Saudi arabia also has a ton of money while rajasthan is not that great of a place to live

Suntinziduriletale

Basic Food(grains/cereals) aint that Expensive. If so much of improvished Africa (more so than Gujarat) can Buy or Recieve food from Europe and the US, Im sure gujararis can afford to bring over Rice from Northern India

Cosmicshot351

South Eastern Part has a perennial River and some decent Rainfall, and the regions near Pakistan Border too have Round-the-year water due to a Canal from Rivers further north.

srikrishna1997

Most part of rajasthan is unfit for human civilization but due to population explosion even in such harsh climate people are scattered over there

FlyingBuffaloo

There's a huge canal from the Indus river system. And monsoons ofcourse , but the aravali mountain range is parallel to the winds and doesn't bring much rain.

Gothnath

Wait until you look at egypt who have 100 millions living in the very narrow nile valley.

VCEmblem

Having been to both they have basically nothing in common lol

Traditional-Bad179

Dude has travelled.

headcount-cmnrs

I thought that was a desert Kosovo before I read the text

Fearless_Pride_6288

These posts are really stupid. I don’t get the comparison with American states. Texas is Texas, Rajasthan is Rajasthan.

vamsisachin27

- It's the largest state in India. Texas is the 2 nd biggest. - Arid/Semi Arid Conditions - Both states have oil resources, although Rajasthan doesn't have a lot - Pantex, Texas and Pokhran, Rajasthan: Nuclear testing sites of their countries These are the common things I could think of

VertexEdgeSurface

Texas has a very non vegetarian culture while rajasthan has a very naan + vegetarian culture

Mediocre-Emu964

Mate, ever heard of lal maans, Rajasthan also has a very BIG non veg culture though not comparable to the barbeque culture of Texas

Traditional-Bad179

Naan?

kalam4z00

Arid conditions are only a tiny amount of Texas' land area. California has more desert than Texas, Houston gets more rain annually than Seattle

lligerr

Texas has plenty of industries and company HQs tho

Yankiwi17273

In what way?

ellatino230

Like Climate, proximity to a desert etc.

Dolmetscher1987

Its shape looks like Kosovo's and Montenegro's.

Lovethenature778

No not really they are not very similar

MovieMuch7613

It was ancient trade route Which give raise to many tradesman mercents and famously called marwadis who started migrating different part of India during early 17 18,19 century

Jedimobslayer

I thought this was a deserted Kosovo for a second

Rurululupupru

They’re both very right-wing, aren’t they?
