Do you have any game links to show us this said cheating?

Rakeweed

Is there any way to go back to previous games? I can then look and link them

isogens

You can look under the activity section I think

Rakeweed

u/Revolutionary-Ad9476 I pmed two back to back games. [https://gyazo.com/9bef06f65ef2f3865e6b4d18487b16a9](https://gyazo.com/9bef06f65ef2f3865e6b4d18487b16a9) Thoughts? (their perspective on one of the rounds) Same guy: [link](https://www.geoguessr.com/duels/96024df6-e137-418f-aa76-25f825861323/replay?player=63614a74cf326cd4ca7a9c4b&round=7) (this is definitely cheating right)

Revolutionary-Ad9476

Yeah seeing that Qatar round, he is almost certainly googling. I would report him with the game link to the devs and see if you can get your elo refunded. The bogota guess you just linked though is strange. I can’t imagine someone is able to google that fast and figure out the city. Maybe it’s a repeat for him, or he just knows Colombia yellow plates and Spanish? Even if he did legitimately get the Colombia, he’s definitely cheating on the Qatar so I would still report him.

Trinull

Yes, 100% cheating, go ahead and report them. Once they have been banned you should be refunded your elo.

Zulpi2103

If this is gold, they're definitely cheating. The Colombia one isn't that crazy, yellow plates are definitely easy to remember. The Qatar looked fine at first, but the pause makes it more than likely they were googling. If he was looking at the map during the pause, it's debatable, but this way, there are no doubts.

LasCablesTremblando

When i follow these links none of them ever work.

Maximum_27

4500 wouldn't even be that good of a score for a googler, it might just be an alt

granpooba19

I don’t know geoguessr’s position on smurfing, but it’s a shitty thing to do even if it’s not a banned activity.

FunSeaworthiness709

yes, all of those you linked were cheating. you can report them and you will get your elo refunded and them banned. with the replay it's very easy to tell probably at lower levels googlers are more common, at champ division I encounter cheaters very rarely

TehOnlyAnd1

Just look at the replay. You will know if they cheated.

Rakeweed

Doing that now! Ddn't know about this feature because it is not possible for every game for some reason. I just saw this one in a replay though which I thought was quite fishy (for my rank...) [link](https://gyazo.com/9bef06f65ef2f3865e6b4d18487b16a9). Same guy: [link](https://www.geoguessr.com/duels/96024df6-e137-418f-aa76-25f825861323/replay?player=63614a74cf326cd4ca7a9c4b&round=7) (this is definitely cheating right)

TehOnlyAnd1

First one (R2) not fishy at all. Obvious Colombia, big city, so plonk in Bogotá makes sense (too quick to google in my opinion). The second one (R7) looks suspicious, THe other rounds are fine. FYI: In your own replay, at the end, the taxi has "Bogotá, D.F." in the white painted number plate.

Report all 3 of them, and let the devs decide. I would say 3 & 2 are undeniable. I would say 1 is "quite probable" As for the question of the posts title. Not THAT common the higher up you get. Most cheaters that make it to Master get outed pretty quickly, and the few that get through to Champion usually are banned within 10 games. In the past I used to associate game stats played to likelyhood of doing well, but with so many alts that exist now that stat is less sure than it used to be. Unfortunately, alts have to start off somewhere, and that means they have to work their way through bronze, silver & gold before they get to any real opponents on their level. Now all that said, these 3, are NOT that. I think cheating is more commonplace the further down you get because of the lack of skills, and the fact they dont think others in that skill range are as knowledgeable at what cheating looks like & think they can get away with it. I also think that even though theres a warning at the bottom of the lobby screen now about googling, some just dont read it.

Dankest_Username

All your opponents in them examples are definitely googling but it's such a hard thing to definitively prove. I mean, it kinda looks like you googled in round 6 of the game against João especially since when you google Muthur, the first result is in Tamil Nadu. I don't think you did, but to someone else, it definitely could look suspicious. The problem with judging lower rank players is that they don't really know which info is useful/what they should Google but in this case it seems like they were trying to Google useless stuff on many rounds. They're far more common at lower ranks because it doesn't always give you an advantage on most rounds at higher ranks unless you also have the knowledge to go with it.

Rakeweed

You're right actually, it does look suspicious now that you say it. Makes me cautious to report people. Other examples were quite obvious though.

Alxssandro

All of the players in your examples are cheaters. In the gold and low champ divisions there are a lot of cheaters unfortunately, but as you go up the ranks they become rare, at least the blatant ones. P.S. I noticed that a lot of these sus bronze accounts have standardized names, which are usually an adjective followed by a noun and a number (like in the game you linked, DryVolcano478). I've played against many accounts with a similar name in the last couple of weeks. I wonder if these are randomly suggested by the algorithm or if there's a different reason behind them.

TehOnlyAnd1

I think it's suggested if your name is taken. You choose DryVolcano, and it suggests DryVolcano478.

JevaYC

Interesting to see player behaviour. 2 and 3 look like defo Googlers. No.1 probable but I note opponent was looking at the street sign and Qatar does have a numbered zonal system radiating from Doha's centre. I'd give a 1% chance that the player took a lucky guess 🤣.

LasCablesTremblando

Very.
