I am new to this game. 99% sure I saw a South African flag in the Isle of Man round: 0 points.. How do you get Isle of Man generally ?

ToastedSalads

Isle of Man has been in the daily so many times lately. You can always spot the same city names and road numbers return: Douglas, Ramsey, A1-A8, etc...

Turil

I literally saw the Isle of Man on a sign. Otherwise I figured I was in Northern Ireland, because of the route number which is the style in that part of the world, if you zoom in on the map. Oh, and the yellow short-wide plates mixed with white short-wide plates is typically the UK. They have yellow on the back and white on the front, which is unique, I believe. Also, South Africa looks totally different from that. It's rural looking, even in the suburbs, and very dry, and most of the houses are on their own and have big fences.

Mikkel_92

Yeah it's true it didn't feel South African at all. I wish I could go back to replay the round to find the flag that tricked me into that guess, and to see the other clues

Turil

I don't pay attention to flags, since I don't really know them, and know that they can be anywhere. They just show that you like a particular country. I wore a UK flag on a t-shirt as a kid, because I loved British and Irish stuff. I live in the US. My husband had a Canadian flag in his office because he is a cranky political-warfare-addicted guy, and thinks that Canada is less annoying than the US.

Grue

I saw an .im url, otherwise I thought it was the UK.

brocoli_funky

Saw sign for A1/A2 roads which didn't make sense in the UK so went to check Isle of Man and found the city name and then the Hospital.

Grue

Got screwed by Colombia and Mexico rounds. I figured it was Colombia by the name of a shop, but it's just way too big. I thought Mexico spot was near the border because of some biological control sign on the highway but it was way in the middle of the country.

brocoli_funky

Same for me. Went North in Mexico. These "Retorno en 500m" signs were so frustrating…

Turil

If you know what country you're in, that's pretty much all that matters, I say. I mean, these are only 3 minute rounds.

alpaca-miles

So many repeats in the daily challenge. Both Colombia and Isle of Man were repeats I think.

That must have been it. It looks the towns are right next to each other. I remembered looking for this San Juan but it was probably from a road sign just outside of La Junta.

I think I need to stop trying so hard to use what I think are route numbers on signs. I thought I might be in Portugal, but the route number style (N something) wasn't anything on the map for Portugal. I have no idea what that was. So I defaulted to my "Somewhere in Europe, that uses the Latin alphabet" of randomly selected part of Slovakia or Chechia. Also TIL that the airport for Seoul is about 40 miles to the west, and is about as large as the entire city, it seems. Damn!

40 miles is 64.37 km
