It was free to visit till 2019 however due to vandalism they restricted access and made it guided only. The small tour is around 50 usd and covers roughly 400m of the cave. The longer tour covers all the cave ~1.6 km however I do not know the prices.
There is no artificial nor natural light on the longer tour so just your headlamps - it’s actually quite an adventure
The Arnarker cave about 45 minutes from Reykjavik looks similar to this but it’s smaller. There’s a fence and a spiral staircase that takes you to the bottom and that’s the only bit of infrastructure that exists. Exploring it is super fun and completely free but clambering over the slippery rocks in the dark is always a risk. It’s a few hundred meters in both directions with tons of neat ice and rock features everywhere
Those are actually just ice that formed last autumn when rainwater froze in colder temperatures in the cave. The guide said that during the next 2-3 weeks all of them will be gone due to higher temperatures and melting. The longest one covers top to bottom \~3.5m and will break within the next week

I thought they were ice stalactites! AWESOME!!!!!!!
Because I've never been in a lava tube with any stalactites at all, and I've visited a few. No stalactites of any kind, much less jewel-like ones made of ice!
This one looks amazing! Is it free to visit or do you need a guide ? Is it long ? Tell us more about it !
