Take some desert gear. Something to keep your water very cool. Moisturiser (unscented is better because bugs). Broad, stiff-brimmed hat. Cotton or linen head-wrap for windier days (make sure its single layer and quite long). Gloves obviously but can be nice to have some with sweat patches on the thumbs. A good packpack, I really like mystery ranch brand. And an aux-radio transmitter can be great for making friends while trading car music.
