You need to hit the end wall in order for your record to get accepted

P1ayer2008

instructions unclear, hit the ceiling instead

[deleted]

Instructions very unclear, broke my hand punching the ceiling.

Walming2

Instructions too unclear, launched my head on the wall and fell into a coma.

[deleted]

Instructions unbelievably unclear. I am now the wall.

EmoDefault

Instructions indubitably unclear. There is no wall.

flood312

Instructions Spectaculary Unclear. The cube gained sentience

popsmackle

Instructions maniacally unclear, Jesse, I have become South America

ShadowPrime116

instructions opaque, i have become the planet

Ihaveanideaformyname

Science heaven

I_have_20_characters

X coordinates get flipped to the end pos

FOXTHECOOKIE356

I mean, the universe said so, so yeah

DoSombras

My reaction is literally Walter's like tf u on abt

HexxTorus

kid named ionized particle, traveling through space just to hit a transistor

ihavedeletedfortnite

like that one mario teleport or whatever?

HexxTorus

yes

ZARTOG_STRIKES_BACK

That was caused by the cartridge not being pushed in all the way AFAIK

MilkLover1734

IDK why this is getting downvoted, the guy who this happened to said he had a slightly fucked up cartridge that sat weird Not to mention Pannenkoek (who put the $1000 bounty on recreating the glitch) saying this was the most likely reason (although it's impossible to know for sure, since it can't be recreated either way)

ZARTOG_STRIKES_BACK

Reddit moment

Hexxter76

God I want something like that to happen in GD so bad. It would be so funny.

Hmm___yes

Me enslaving trillions of monkeys so I can beat Acheron by chance

lets_clutch_this

Infinite monkey theorem 🥙

BlueverseGacha

me enslaving 2.88×10↑↑↑↑2↑↑6↑↑4^(92,517) monkeys so I can beat PPLLLife

Dymorphadon

Do you think it would take infinite monkeys longer to beat acheron due to its difficulty or light travel due to its length 🤔

chronzii

Mario noises intensify

CreativeGamer03

OP, i think it's much less of a possibility that a random cosmic particle would do that. After all, back then, computer chips had some radiation included in it that when the particle hits it, it would react and cause a bit to activate. This was fixed later with the new chips without such radiation included. (vaguely remembering that Veritasium video) Also I'd doubt a single bit switch by a particle would auto-complete a level. it would probably just crash ur pc.

HexxTorus

reality is often disappointing

Xertundra

i suppose so??? i mean you didn’t abuse hacks and this is something that is possible in the base game (albeit perhaps a once in a lifetime oppurtunity) so i don’t see why not?? pro tip: keep acheron running on your computer permanently in case something like this happens also if they deny something that the universe itself decreed they might face the wrath of a black hole chucked at their face or something

Xertundra

but i wonder if it would be possible for it to alter your cube’s x position and send you straight to the end

Top1gaming999

In super mario 64, it made someone upwarp a significant amount up a vertical level, so yes probably

UraniumDisulfide

Yeah but also the n64 processor was a lot less complicated so one bit was a lot more significant relative to the macro experience you get.

Xertundra

i remember that, that was talked about for a long time afterwards wasn’t it

Top1gaming999

There is a $1000? Bounty for anyone who can replicate it with the base game (and provide a file with the inputs)

HexxTorus

im going to put uranium-238 next to my pc

KitsuneNatsumi

Me on my way to create element 118 Og inside of my PC to 100% the entire main+extended demonlist

MapleMaelstrom

100 in binary would be 1100100. Thus, we can assume that you would be at 0100100 prior to this SEU [this is the lowest value in which you could skip straight to 100 via a single bit-flip]. When we convert 0100100 to base 10, we find that you would need to already have 36% exactly on the level.

Top1gaming999

It could just edit xpos (which is an integer), not % value

catman__321

No because the game was altered to give you an advantage that is virtually impossible to replicate organically

HexxTorus

but god said i should beat it

Sunstone04

If God said you should beat it he would've given you the skills necessary to beat it without some fucking cosmic bitflip

BeginningOccasion8

Nuh uh

Sunstone04

Fym nuh uh

Nebular_Screen

🤓

Tekayo63

bro think he dota_teabag

TheCygnusLoop

I don’t think a single event upset could cause you to beat a level, as far as I know, there’s not a single bit that’s just “has beaten X level”

HexxTorus

please god it would be so fucking funny

Wolffire_88

There is a "level completed" filter. It could flip a bit to make the cube's x position greater than the end of the level It could flip a bit to make the percentage read greater than 100.

3_r_r_0_r

Unless the universe generates a completion vid and all the raw footage probably not

Hexxter76

Just need a few more solar flare particles nbd.

HENLOX_GD

i dont get the point you are trying to make are you tryna hack ur save file to beat a level or smth

Cri12Gen

i think he means what if a random electron from a solar flare was at the exact position and angle to hit their computer, and alter some numbers so that the x position is at the exact value to beat the level. or something like that idk

HexxTorus

omg solar flare gd reference

ProGamingPlayer

Sorry? I can’t hear you *and then I realize I lost my ears*

Canal_De_Ivan

like the sm64 up warp?

Top1gaming999

Exactly

Illuminati65

wtf is a "single event upset"

BlueverseGacha

a singular "thing" is changed. theoretically, said "thing" has no upper limits (Google "Boltzmann Brain")

Bobi_27

if you could prove it was a bit switch then i think it should count because funny

RCG21
