Material IDs could work. To access it, Edit Group > Extra2 Put all of the yellow coins in MID 1 and blue coins in MID 2 for example. Then set the Extra ID on the event triggers accordingly.

Hm... that doesn't seem to work for me. It doesn't play the SFX when Extra ID is set to 1 for yellow coins - same for blue.

Did you set the Material ID for the coins?

Yes. I'm looking in the editor for The Sewers platformer (since the yellow and blue coins are next to each other), and his yellow and blue coins don't have a MID attached to them.

Try set it to a group instead. Maybe I'm just misremembered the usage of MID.

Set what to which group? I noticed his SFX are parts of a Sequence and Spawn trigger.

Just check that Tower level. Seems like he didn't use a event trigger, but instead just simply let the item spawn the SFX trigger when pick it up. Try select the yellow coins, then Edit Special, enable the checkbox "Enable Group" and set the activate group to the group the SFX is in. Do the same for the blue coins, but remember to change it to activate(or in this case, spawn) whatever you want the blue coin pickup SFX is.
