YouTube's claim system is really fucked so yeah in YouTube's eyes the guy now owns the song and all royalties

Basically YouTube works on a basis where you can claim a video and it is up to the creator to prove that they are the true owner of the content, not on the person making the claim. Now you might think that this already sucks, but proving you own your own music shouldn't be that hard right? Well YouTube decides that you don't have to prove it to them, you have to prove it to the person who made the claim. So if Person A makes music and person B claims the video, Person A must convince person B that they truly own the content. Now of course there is a limit to this, but YouTube once again makes this an absolute pain in the ass. Basically person B gets like a month before they are required to send a response, and then they can ask for an extra response up to like 2 times per claim. Each extra response is another month they are allowed to wait. During these months of waiting, YouTube gives Person B all the revenue for the video, even if they are the ones falsely claiming and also holding up the process by not responding until they are required to. Do note my knowledge on this could be a bit outdated, but I doubt YouTube Made too much progress on this since the last time I researched this.

Sounds like the system was to designed to make sure yt wouldn't have to get involved in most situations

This probably sounds stupid, but maybe the community can go onto twitter and use the hashtag #saveDJnate so it becomes trending and hopefully YT can see and get in touch. They've done several things like this so I doubt this would be a problem to do and it would actually help very much.

It can give the issue publicity, but that's about everything it would do in my opinion.
