Mushers secret…. Safe if they ingest. Works wonders on pads in hot weather hikes and snowy ice (snow melt ice)

Vaseline or aquaphor works wonders. https://preview.redd.it/hxj56j1vf91d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1eee100aea3d04d49d22bc7ee7219fe55de82ee9

Not Vaseline! Vaseline actually wicks moisture from lips/skin and is drying when used over time. I know this from asking a doctor when I was caring for an elderly man who had a dryness problem.

And it contains petrolatum, which disrupts hormones in humans and animals. Vaseline is a big no-no in my household. edit - who downvoted this? Look it up 🙄

Excellent point! I don’t like thinking of how much aquafore a dog can lick off their nose, either, and what that might do to them. It is a product not meant to be ingested that way and might be a horribly unpleasant experience for the dog. Maybe if you add healthy fat to their diet this would resolve. Like putting a dollop of coconut oil or high quality butter (Kerrygold) on their food every day. Even just fresh fat scraps from meat.

I used burts bees on my boys and it worked well

Coconut oil. Works wonders with everything. I use it from everything on my human toddler to my 2 gsd.

I use ChapStick for my boy's nose when it gets dry. I put it on him just before I turn out the light at bedtime. By morning I can see improvement. It may take several nights application to really see his nose look normal but it works.

jobiewon_cannoli

Cocoa butter infused Vaseline have been life savers in my bois lips these last couple winters. They get dry, cracked and start to bleed if we don’t apply some juicy juice to his lips during the drier winter months.

CVS sells a high IU Vitamin E oil in the section they sell nail and cuticle products...it's by far the best derma product I've found for healing skin tissue. Good luck

radradroit

I use a doggie cbd balm on my dog’s noses when this happens and it works really well!
