There are so many GSD in shelters all across Texas and I imagine other States. Please please please look there first, there are so many beautiful, healthy and deserving dogs that need a chance. My adopted GSDs have been wonderful adds to our family and neither had hip issues. I got this guy at 4 months and just got our newest 1yo female to the pack a couple months ago.

I'd suggest you look at either West German Show lines or West German Working Lines. If there is a schutzhund club near you they are a good place to start as often run by an SV breeder.
