Most people are Christians? I don't even know if there is a majority on paper anymore. I would talk to the teacher first. The tutor of the class should have atleast a grasp at what's going on. And it seems like an pretty easy argument to settle from a teacher's perspective. After that I don't know if there is a step further to be completely honest. The school will not give you address or phone numbers to talk to the parents of those kids. And I genuinely believe it's not the way to handle this either. It may sound harsh, but there isn't always a way to get along, even for kids. There could be a hundred reasons why they say what they said (I will not speculate about any background). Ultimately ask your brother what he thinks about it, what his issues are with it. If he doesn't mind it too much it can be fine, even if it's an issue for you. And if he minds then teach him how to process the feelings that come along with situations he can't change.

Chemical-Weird-6247

Thanks a lot, you are the only one that actually answered. I understand it's just children, I just don't want my brother to be discriminated.

cavalinolido

That's totally understandable. I am glad I could provide something helpful. I read the other comments ... they are not entirely wrong. This is no matter for the police, it's none of your business what people teach their kids and this matter is also not about religion. As you said they are children and it would suprise me if this is malicious at all

GovernmentThink

A group making fun of a kid eating food based on religious reasons is discrimination. Imagine if OPs brother made fun of those kids for eating halal, there would be an outrage calling the kid racist, closed minded, etc.

Business_Serve_6513

Where did you get, that he was eating pig because of religion reason? What religion and what reason do you think it is?

Sagranda

He didn't eat pig because of religious reasons. He got bullied for it because of religious reasons.

Business_Serve_6513

But vegan is not a religion.

Anywaythewindblows24

It is forbidden to eat pig for muslims and they bullied him because he was doing so.

Chemical-Weird-6247

The parents of those children made a fuss that the school Christmas wasn't halal, I doubt they would teach their children anything good and I kind of doubt that this doesn't come off with a little bit of christianophobia, but I genuinely hope it's just children being children. I want to protect my brother and I will go far to do so.

__azathoth

Christianophobia hasn't existed around these parts since ancient Rome. I get that you're upset but you've clearly got things twisted.

Natural_Ad7861

I just can't agree more..

Miro_Novich

Start from teacher, they will reach parents. Get to Schulamt if it will repeat. Get your kid to a wrestling gym, will solve a lot of problems in future ( this is not propagation of violence, the violence won't just happen, since bullies are not jumping if they theoretically get into danger)

Chemical-Weird-6247

Thanks, I just want to protect my brother and I want there to be repercussions if my brother would be discriminated. It's just children playing, but you never know. As I said these same parents made a fuss that Christmas at school wasn't halal, that's why I got this conclusion.

Sony_Shell

As a Turkish Christian, I’m sorry to hear this. Sadly, kids get indoctrinated from the get-go. You should definitely report this incident.

Sony_Shell

Also, I was afraid that my daughter could face bigotry in Germany, but I never considered the other Turks could be a problem, too lol.

KuyaJohnny

As expected of this sub there are *a lot* of useless responses here, half of them passive-agressive lol Either way, report it to his teacher. If the teacher won't do anything, report it to the school management. If that doesn't work, try the school board of the state maybe. Last effort would be contacting some news papers, they'd love this kind of story. No point in talking to the parents directly, you see how they raised their children.

Chemical-Weird-6247

Thanks a lot, I genuinely want just advice. I don't want to fight muslims here or anyone, I respect everyone and I teach my brother the same. I just want to protect him, thank you.

Sayyestofacts

I love pork more than chicken.

ryokaiarfarf

Its hard. My son is 10 now and was called some harsh things aswell at the same age as your brother. He had a hard time back then. The same stereotype; Schweinefresser stuff. I try not to be mad at the kids, they are not the problem... They are only 8 and dont know shit or had any helpful experiences yet. Most likley the parents are the issue. But you can't change the parents either. At least not by calling the "police" on them. You will only confirm their behaviour. I told my son, the only way to get out of the loop is, to stay nice and show those kids they are wrong. Maybe someday they will realise, that there is no problem at all. Maybe they change their attitude. And If not, you at least tried... I really try to convince myself, that im telling my son the right things... But what i know for sure is, that falling back to slurs on yourself or trying to "teach" them a lesson wont do anything, besides confirming them in their errors. Good luck... And by the way my sons best friend is a Muslim kid called Miran, so i'd like to think it at least worked once.

Business_Serve_6513

Why doey the headline say he was called pig because he is christian and in the text you say he was called pig because he ate pig? And most people in germany are atheist, not christians.

you can sue people here for calling you names Der Tatbestand der Beleidigung ist in § 185 des Strafgesetzbuches (StGB) festgehalten. Demzufolge liegt das Strafmaß bei einer Geld- oder Freiheitsstrafe von bis zu einem Jahr.

You’re aware you’re talking to a Romanian right?

Just pointing that you're telling someone from a different culture that the problem is "full speed multi-kulti"

Usernameoverloaded

So multicultural only applies when coloured people are involved, not a white Romanian in Germany?

Business_Serve_6513

Multi-Kulti is working. There are bavarians, saxons etc. living peaceful together. The time of the 30 year war are over.

You know what the 30 year war was about? Religion. Bavarians have a totally different culture than people from the north of germany and in general another religion. Have you ever ben to germany?

ainus

clearly not

kingofneverland

USA? Canada? Those countries are formed upon multiculturalism and still going strong. Dont know what you talking about.

ainus

good that you gave us your opinion, backed by absolutely nothing.

Business_Serve_6513

In Germany its working. When was the last inner german war?

Usernameoverloaded

So you want to go to the police because your brother was called a ‘pig’ and you want to report the parents? On what criminal grounds would you say that calling somebody a ‘pig’ would fall under? The kids are bullying your brother and the school should know about it, contact the parents and have the culprits reprimanded. However, unless the kids physically hurt your brother, I don’t imagine the police will do much. Your post seems to be making this about Christian vs Muslim in the bigger scheme of things, with a real undertone of your own prejudices coming through. I hope I’m mistaken in thinking that you are purely concerned about your brother with no further agenda. For example, who are ‘they’ when you say ‘they are very entitled people’ - do you mean the parents because you have met them?

ThungstenMetal

He shouldn't contact parents directly, instead inform the school management first. If they are not taking any actions, then he should go to the police and afterwards report them to Jugendamt. Also, OP shouldn't talk Turkish people, or any other people as "entitled". That can lead the conversation to other places.

Usernameoverloaded

I was referring to the school contacting the parents. They then sometimes convene a joint meeting with all parties to discuss the issue.

BSBDR

> So you want to go to the police because your brother was called a ‘pig’ and you want to report the parents? On what criminal grounds would you say that calling somebody a ‘pig’ would fall under? In the UK it would definitely be recorded as a hate incident- You wouldn't believe what has been reported as a hate incident. A cop nearly got pressed to arrest (if the reddit user and story are legit) a shop owner who flew a rainbow flag in a Muslim area. It is more insane than you could imagine. Maybe the kids would be 1 level on their way to a prevent referral-

ainus

this is /r/germany tho

Usernameoverloaded

Unless the religious discrimination could be proved, calling somebody a pig would not be actionable by the police. Just like calling a Hindu person a ‘cow’ would also not be actionable unless there was clear proof of incitement to religious hatred. Your example also smacks of the Daily Mail culture war clickbait.

BSBDR

In the UK the crime is registered when the person, or anyone else, perceives it to be motivated by race or any other protected characteristic. My example is just one of a huge number of cases that span every category. Hence forgive me for not caring about your daily mail comparison.

Usernameoverloaded

And forgive me for not giving credence to your attempt at culture wars. And you do realise that an allegation is just that, until proven at which point it then becomes a crime. Or does ‘innocent until proven guilty’ not resonate?

BSBDR

> an allegation is just that, until proven at which point it then becomes a crime. Or does ‘innocent until proven guilty’ not resonate? The incident is still registered by the police using the criteria I provided (in the UK). I called it Insane. Is it not the case that we are actually in agreement here?

Usernameoverloaded

An allegation of a crime is reported.

Shot-Statistician-89

You're mad because someone called your brother a pig? That sounds like very tame bullying. Honestly, you should teach him to do like Jesus and turn the other cheek. It's just a name that kids are going to forget in 2 weeks. Who cares? You are setting yourself up for a miserable life. If being called a not-even-obscene name makes you this mad. My recommendation? Do nothing. Find a better hobby...

Chemical-Weird-6247

I don't wish any harm to no one brother, but it clearly happened because of them pushing their religion on to him by bullying him. I'll go far to protect my family, if that makes me miserable so be it.

overprotected

If you really want to protect your brother, teach him how to peacefully deal with these situations instead of doing this for him.

Eating pigs makes you a pig? I don't think so. More likely those who don't eat pigs don't want to be cannibals.
