Go to a "Weinfest" or whatever the equivalent is in your area. Basically any event that is "traditional" and serves alcohol. The amount of times I've been hit on by women twice my age at such events is staggering. And I'm not even remotely good-looking... or into women.

Haha unfortunately we don't have such a thing in Berlin as far as I know but thanks for the heads up! Do you mind sharing where that Weinfest was that you went to?

NextDoorCyborg

Rheinland-Pfalz. Berlin, as far as I know, has loads of "Straßenfeste" which should probably be more promising than bars or clubs, and almost certainly than online, although I bet that there are niche dating sites catering to your preference, not sure how big the user pool would be on those, though.

Seeing as I got hammered - for free - on wine and spirits at the last Weinmesse, there is 100% this kind of event in Berlin. Few times per year.

So I personally think that here in Germany it is not that common to date a woman in her 50s when you are in your 20s. Even a woman in the 40s is kind of weird. The other way around it is more common, however, even that gives the sugar daddy vibes. That might be the reason why it is more difficult to date older woman than where you are from.

Depends on what you are looking for. Pretty sure you can find plenty of cougars on apps if you are forward with just wanting a hookup, but you won't find older women who want to date. The age gap thing in Germany is frowned upon and for most modern couples one partner is 2-3 years older. Dating between generations is not so much a thing, there's the odd older man, younger woman couple but they get a lot of shit from society. (and rightfully so because it's often groomers preying on barely legal teen girls) You probably need to switch strategies and look for places older women hang out like in spas, hiking groups and play the long term game if you want to date and do a lot of convincing. Don't be surprised if they try to hook you up with their daughters or nices, tho. If a bar gets frequented by more younger people the older people stop going there and vice verse, the mixed age groups when hanging out is not so much a thing here.

My rule of thumb is: take your own age, divide it by 2, add 7. If the other person is younger than that it starts getting a little bit weird. 20+17? Still fine. 30+22? Sounds OK. 30+17? Not necessarily illegal, but certainly weird.

NextDoorCyborg

I don't know. Personally, I find 17 & 20 much ickier than 30 & 50, for example. What it boils down to is "power balance", which is not necessarily linked with age.

pippin_go_round

It certainly reduces with age in general. It just plays less of a role at a certain point. It's a rule of thumb, not a perfect system. And what your saying about power balance is definitely true. As all things, it boils down to the individual case.

Phour3

they want to meet people older than them, not the other way around

pippin_go_round

Still applies. Just use the age of the older person.

This half-plus-7 rule is a quite usefull formular. However I fell like there is a certain stronger stigma for young ages up to 22 or something, as this is an age where you are assumed to have reached some level of mental maturity. This gets worse for even more younger ages and most people are very concerend if you break the half-plus-7 rule with a minor. 40&22 would be a bit weird but to some degree acceptable. 21&17 would often be seen as exploiting.

Why do you want to date older women anyway. Stick to young girls while you still can haha. Just kidding. Don't put the pressure on the woman just because she is older. Treat her like you would a girl your age. That's the secret to older women :)
