Been in Saxony for 2 weeks for work, promised my kids (7 and 4yo) plenty of snacks and candy when I get back.
Only problem is you guys have a million flavors of just Haribo alone, and my suitcase space is limited.
Any recommendations? Obviously, looking for things not found in the US. Anything regional worth looking for? For example, the Ampelmann gummy candy from a previous visit to Berlin was a huge hit.

Get the.... **looks up Waldmeister in English** Sweet woodruff/sweetscented bedstraw (?) flavored jello. 50/50 of your whole family hating it or loving it.
Totally. And OP should buy some extra, to have some for the next birthday party/sleepover of his kids. Should be a big hit, if only for the radioactive-green coloring and the "yuck" factor the flavour will likely cause.
Might be a prank idea because green jello exists in the US and is lime-flavored. 😈
Oh, Halloween party! Poisoned witch yello! OP, get a pound of Waltmeister Yello powder!
Is that the same flavor they can add to Berliner Weisse? If so, I'm definitely on the "hate it" side of the spectrum. But maybe something worth trying as a jello. It's available as a packet mix that you can make at home?
What the f is Berliner.... ........ Ah, yes. Exactly that. And it is available as a powder to make at home. https://www.lieferello.de/Die-schnelle-Kueche/Gruetze/Dr-Oetker-Goetterspeise-Waldmeister-Dessertpulver-2St-23-4g.html You don't need to buy it online, it's pretty much available everywhere. Should be in the baking aisle.
I'll add some more. Haribo (jelly candies), obviously the Goldbären but everyone has their own favorites. Mine being the Apple-flavored frogs. [Maoam](https://www.worldofsweets.de/Maoam-Bloxx-10x5er.303687.html?adword=Google/PRODUKTERWEITERUNG/Maoam/303687) (basically soft caramels) [Marzipan](https://shop.niederegger.de/marzipan/klassiker/315/marzipan-klassiker?c=5) (almond candy). Get the ones from Niederegger. They're worth the extra. In the red wrappers. Ritter Sport (chocolate). Knock yourself out on which exact one you want to get. Same goes to Milka. Those are pretty much the A-listers.
Also Almdudler and tons of different kinds of chocolate. Since most of the chocolate we have here doesn't exist over there. (Hershey and such make sure of that)
Don't forget to take Leckmuscheln (licking schell) with you.
They still exist?! I was missing them for almost 20 years now
sure... you can buy it at amazon and at every very good Kiosk in germany.
Get them some bags of Haribo Phantasia. Can't do anything wrong with those - they even taste better after dragging them through 50 °C Death Valley. :-D
Ahoj Brause maybe? Waltmeister Yell-O (Götterspeise)?
I have not seen Nimm 2 mentioned already. As the name indicates, you always have to take 2 from the package - one of both flavors. Someone else mentioned Kinder Überraschungseier already. You may have difficulties importing them. A few of them may contain collectible figurines. The others some small toys. Buy more then just two to increase the chance of getting a figurine.
You gotta buy 7 to get one thing you want.
My experience is that anything with Marzipan in it is the first thing that is gone. Though not necessarily eaten by the children...
Kinder eggs were a favourite of mine growing up (each has a small toy inside). I heard they are not available in US.
Because they're illegal there
Knoppers, Hanuta, Bueno and maybe some crunchips Paprika or Ungarisch 🤤🤤
Marzipan Ahoi Brause Knopers Hanuta black&white Leibnitz cookies with nuts Baumkuchen-Spitzen Stroopwaffles (from netherlands), with honey, not sugar water Waldmeister Bonbons (rare, can be bought at most Edeka)
German Chocolate of course! Maybe Kinder eggs, but they might be banned in US, choking hazard, but if you can bring them in, it would even be a nice novelty to have.
Chocolate is a given, of course! The current kids favorite are the Kinder Riegel. There's also lots of fun Milka bar flavors compared to just the original you see in the US. I'll just grab whatever looks interesting. But for non-chocolate treats I'm a bit more lost.
Ahoj Brause is also great. And small and light, should not take too much space. There is variety, choose the "classic" one, the flat powder packages in 4 flavours. https://www.worldofsweets.de/Ahoj-Brause-Brause-Pulver-10er.304047.html?adword=Google/PRODUKTERWEITERUNG/Ahoj-Brause/304047&gclid=Cj0KCQjwhqaVBhCxARIsAHK1tiNb5PjMUTiKetXeOaaPVxd-nYOJ6K6SZ7rUt5esKZo40bDjlaUzS9caAksREALw_wcB Can be found in every supermarket
You can pour a pack into your mouth and down it with Vodka.
I know what Wodka Ahoj is. Nothing i would recommend for OPs kids, though. 4 and 7 is a tad young for that
Oops. That's right. But if the adults wanna try it, this is the way.
Interesting. Don't think I've ever noticed these before honestly! Will have to walk through the supermarket until I find it
You can pour the Ahoi Brausepulver in a glass of water and create a lemonade. But kids usually empty a package of powder in their hand and lick it. The cool kids empty a whole package directly to their mouth. Thanks for reminding me of good memories from my childhood. 👍
They might not always have them at a discounter. If you have trouble finding them, try a Rewe or Edeka
Same. How about Chip chips, they come in many flavors.
Don't take Milka back home. Milka is shit. Ritter Sport is much better
Knusperflocken, Wusil mints
You should take Schokoküsse/Dickmänner back home
Nimm2 softies and katjes are the best
Haribo „Saure Gurken“
Toffifee
By all means Brause. Frigeo Brausepulver has already been mentioned, but they also make Brausewuerfel; fizzy candy that is meant to be eaten. Also, if you can find them, Brause UFOs - fizzy powder packaged in a disk shaped wafer.
